Reviews for Golf View Hotel & Spa
Review 1:Only one little item - room had a window that "rattled" when wind blowing.
Review 2:Well laid out hotel with very friendly welcoming staff who were helpful and attentive to our needs. Rooms well presented and very comfortable.
Review 3:We were unable to book a table for dinner on two nights as we did not book early enough and the hotel was too busy !! - friends who were not staying at the hotel were able to come in and get a table !!! We were residents !! - never had this experience before ever !!
Review 4:We were made very welcome ,. The staff were helpful . We had a very enjoyable few days.
Review 5:The moldy shower and the two very dirty bath and shower mats. What would have been a very good meal was let down when the soup was severed along with main meal , a very inexperienced (but good intention-ed)waitress who clearly had no supervision. Breakfast was far to slow and disorganized.
Review 6:The location is wonderful, really nice bedroom and nice spa
Review 7:Menu had a poor selection for a 4 star hotel. Bar menu ? Not much choice Room menu better. If I stay in better weather l would go out for a meal.
Review 8:special offer on room B&B
Review 9:Large bed, however it was two beds linked together and you could feel the join which was a little uncomfortable. The swimming pool water temperature was way too hot, it felt more like bath water. As I booked the hotel because of the pool and gym facilities I was a little disappointed. The bedroom decor was not as contemporary as the lounge area.
Review 10:The view, the size of the room, leisure facilities and open fire in the lounge.
Review 11:Service in restaurant, ordered a drink with my meal but didn't receive. However I did get an apology and a complimentary drink. Other than that staff excellent
Review 12:The price I paid ? Food excellent, all staff very friendly
Review 13:room had no view(fire escape0 and was noisy(guests above and fans outside window).Slow food service(dinner and breakfast0.Icy car park not treated.
Review 14:Spa and free wifi
Review 15:For a one-rosette restaurant, there was an unacceptable delay in one of the breakfast orders. There was nothing untoward or complicated about the order.
Review 16:Excellent location and facilities coupled with well-maintained rooms and public areas.
Review 17:The comfort and warmth of the hotel. Its excellent location and quiet ambience. The only drawback was the limited bar menu if you were staying longer than a few days
Review 18:Even tho I enjoyed my stay, breakfast was very small portions it was more about quality and not quantity but when I wake up I would like a decent breakfast, waited a very long time before being able to order and we had to ask to order our food like we had been forgotten about, also the way staff were spoken to infront of us made us feel uncomfortable as they were not spopen to very nicely. Breakfast was a disappointment considering the price for your stay, if u want a full breakfast go else where
Review 19:I enjoyed my stay, very comfortable
Review 20:Food was very average and not good value. I was quoted 80 pounds by booking . Com. But was charged 125???? Room had a view of the fire escape which was disappointing to say the least. The TV had only bbc1 & 2 Which I reported to reception straight away and was not attended to.
Review 21:Staff in particular on restaurant were superb.
Review 22:Service was slow at breakfast, poor choice for continental selection, and both eggs benedict and french toast were nothing special (not what you expect for a 4* hotel)
Review 23:Stunning views from both the lounge and spa, especially the outside hot-tub
Review 24:No sea view but looked out at a fire escape for £90 x 3 nights? Had some meals drinks total £662.85 plus£2 charge for use of bank card??.?
Review 25:View standing outside
Review 26:Not bad but evening meal took 3/4 hour to arrive, young unexperienced waiting staff. Had very nice fresh Langoustines in shells, but unfortunately had to try to crack open with only a knife and fork ( asked for Nut/claw crackers ) to be told sorry lots of people ask but we don't have any !! ). This is a 4 star Hotel and it is a regular dish on their menu.
Review 27:The spa facilities were very nice, good clean room, view could have been a bit nicer ( looked onto fire exit, back of hotel )
Review 28:Nothing
Review 29:Relaxed friendly hotel, warm and welcoming staff, good sized rooms with big bathroom, beautiful sea views. Nice restaurant and excellent room service options. Great pool with ocean view. Perfect for young children.
Review 30:Beautiful hotel with stunning views. We enjoyed a delicious dinner in the conservatory and watched an amazing sunset. Our room was so comfortable. Lovely breakfast. Staff all very friendly and helpful.
Review 31:Shower was rather small and did not drain properly, Given this was a Master View room with ivy growing inside the window it was a poor show.
Review 32:Friendly helpful staff with good facilities.
Review 33:The smell walking into the hotel hit us straight away smelled like an old folks home (urine) which to me was most unpleasant ... on saying this it was explained is was the chlorine from the spa ..... seem to be a rehearsed explanation from all the staff .
Review 34:The room was lovely although the carpets were tired. beautiful views excellent in fact. enjoyed the breakfast
Review 35:Would have liked body lotion on hand especially after swimming. The selection of cold breakfast was limited. I missed the cold meats and cheeses and fresh fruit on offer in other hotels.
Review 36:The pool facilities especially the hot tub Good selection of cooked breakfast items..
Review 37:Like other reviewers complaints, dripping showerheads, wet bathroom floors, poor variety at breakfast and no food after 9pm at night. Visited better hotels with lower star ratings
Review 38:Lovely Location
Review 39:Floor in bathroom extremely slippy. Be careful! Breakfast on second day was chaos, buffet ran out, no clean glasses and no one keeping an eye on it Noticed table of 2 seated before us but only got their hot food after a table of 4 and us, both arrived after them. The food was nice once it came. confusion on check out as my confirmation stated non refundable and hotel would take money after booking. Staff at check out adamant that I was wrong even though I had print out. No apology, just said 'booking.com must have got it wrong' No offer of contacting them to check. Had to pay and then contact my bank to confirm situation.
Review 40:Comfortable bed, Nice to have a swim and Jacuzzi after windy round of golf.
Review 41:Both room phones did not work. No signal on mobile. I ended up using the reception phone as car was in a local garage. Staff were brilliant at assisting me with garage.
Review 42:Excellent service of all staff especially at reception.
Review 43:We were in room 36. The bed was most uncomfortable as the mattresses are worn out. There were spots of dried blood on the bath panel . The shower constantly drips and has obviously done for a long time as there is a brown stain pn the shower tray After our first night we brought this to the attention of the staff who relocated us to room 37 which was fine. .
Review 44:Nice location, althoigj town of Nairn is now very tired.Pleasant staff and good breakfast.
Review 45:Maybe keep your pet rooms separate from your normal rooms. The room absolutely stank of pet hair, if we had of known we wouldn't have stayed there.
Review 46:The size of the rooms were great, very spacious, maybe rethink bed positioning? All that room and you have them 2 inches apart
Review 47:The bed was rather small, but comfortable.
Review 48:The location on the beach is spectacular. Excellent value for money for the Steak night on Thursdays. Great facilities overall.
Review 49:Poor staff hotel needs a complete makeover threadbare carpets chipped furniture dirty pet hairs all over bedding mattress should be bined spa very dirty never cleaned build up of dirt scum and mold breakfast unedible windows do not open
Review 50:Although large tents blocking sea view hot tub was good although dirty ... Scum floating on top nice beach
Review 51:Organisation, time taken to get food. Time taken to get a bill paid. Efficiency needs working on to make the processes quicker and smoother
Review 52:Fantastic position, lovely food. Will always return ....
Review 53:Great location. Good spa. Outside hot tub overlooking the firth. Choice of two restaurants. Good location for a two night stay. Plenty to see in area and the air is wonderful.
Review 54:Not a bad experience, but the service was slow.At breakfast, we both asked for tea and were given one small pot consisting of just over two cups and were unable to attract attention to ask for another pot. Didn't appreciate the £2 charge when paying by debit card. The receptionist and at least one other member of staff should be told that the plural of you is you,not yous!
Review 55:there were a couple of things that could have been improved on but 'nobody's perfect '
Review 56:The Golf View is ideally located for anyone interested in golf but is also just a couple of minutes walk to the beach. If you are fortunate to have a 'sea view' room it is a bonus. The rooms are comfortable and staff always very helpful. This was our first stay at the Golf View but I think we would be very keen to return
Review 57:Lack of disabled parking. Dripping shower not fixed. Reading lamp broken. No sea view which was requested. No golf view ? Food & drink overpriced.
Review 58:Particularly the staff, very pleasant & professional. Lovely location. Receptionist Tracey very kind, reassuring & helpful to my wife who is disabled.
Review 59:The television in our room didn't work when people were in the room above which was a little odd.
Review 60:The hotel is a short walk from the beach, has a lovely outside seating all and a delightful outside hot tub. The food, both in the evening and at breakfast, was delicious. The room was a good size and very comfortable.
Review 61:On first morning at Breakfast, none of the staff enquired as to how everything was and when we asked for additional toast, butter & coffee, we had to wait about 15 minutes, I think they had forgotten as we did have to ask more than once.
Review 62:Our second morning at breakfast was in total contrast to our first morning, when different staff members were more attentive to customers needs and they enquired if customers required more coffee etc and it was brought within a couple of minutes.
Review 63:Room overlook a wall with a fire escape ladder overlooking our room and there was a huge cobweb at the top of the curtains. Fortunately we were given another room when we complained.
Review 64:Location. Staff very pleasant.
Review 65:Parking good and lovely Beach Walks. Great sea view from our bedroom. Staff very helpful and food good. Would stay here again in the future. Excellent offer.E
Review 66:Price. Could have got a deal for 3 nights dbb for less than we paid for 2 night bb
Review 67:Liked that we could take our dog. Breakfast was excellent As was our evening meal.
Review 68:Staff not present either in reception when I arrived, or when I came down for breakfast. Bathroom fittings in a poor state. No bar snacks available in the evening. £2 surcharge for paying by credit, or unusually, debit card.
Review 69:Our bedroom was very shoddy. For example trouser press fell off the wall and bathroom door would not shut. Looking superficially at windows, gutterings etc revealed the need for investment or the hotel,s status and reputation will be eroded.
Review 70:The food and the location are both very good.
Review 71:For business it would be nice to have an earlier start for breakfast. Also £8 for room service tray fee is too steep!
Review 72:I love the gym equipment and the view!
Review 73:a very small but irritatant was the hotel now adding an otherwise unannounced or intimated small charge to the bill for payment by debit card .on departure. A charge for credit card is understandable but not for debit card. It is unlikely that any persons staying arrive prepared to pay by cash. Add to that although the hotel is very pleasant it is already a bit overpriced for what you are offered
Review 74:very pleasant conservatory with sea view to relax and enjoy afternoon tea
Review 75:Room cold on arrival, T.V remote did not work well, Heater in bathroom on but not working, bulbs in room not working. Single galzed windows, in a bad state of repair and also let in more cold air when shut than open :( Not a very good standard for a 4* to be honest.
Review 76:Room was nice but dated, Bed very large and comfertable. pool was adaquate and gym was well laid out.
Review 77:The view of peeling and rotten window frames from our room. ( 36 ) suggests that it may need some money spent on upkeep. Noisy dripping shower head.
Review 78:Staff extremely courteous and presented themselves well especially in the restaurant. The views over the Firth.
Review 79:wasnt the cleanest in room plus in and around hotel could be a lot cleaner ,dissapointed could not get any treatments done as booked up ,wasnt told you would have to book long in advance or would have !
Review 80:lovely location right on beach ,swimming pool and spa area lovely , think in summer time the place would be great to come and chill out also nairn itself was a lovely place and we will be back hopefully one day !!
Review 81:Small criticism taster menu on Wednesday 19th February. If you were a vegetarian you had two courses with pastry. Also Butternut Squash and Sweet Potato together does not make culinary sense to me, Otherwise wonderful.
Review 82:Excellent
Review 83:No sky tv to watch football match in the bar and was quite quiet in the bar also so lacked atmosphere, but as it is still February it is expected. Also conservatory not in use when it is so lovely to enjoy dinner there.
Review 84:We were upgraded on request, and were extremely happy with the room we were given. Leisure facilities are excellent, as are the staff. Breakfast was very good and the food in general was also very good.
Review 85:£2 fee for paying by card regardless of the card type - just change your service provider instead of hacking off every guest at check out with a petty charge!
Review 86:The spa and gym was fantastic after the long day (shame about the male changing room door that didn't lock!) - Thursday steak night was great except for the staff charging for the wine that was included in the deal (they were also a little sparse when you needed anything during the meal!) - breakfast first class and all staff friendly (just what you can expect in this part of the world in my experience!) - will definitely be back!
Review 87:nothing to complain about.
Review 88:Saff from the reception to the bar staff were all pleasent, and helpful. The chuice for breakfast was excelent. I am wheat, lactose anf glutton intolerent. Staff went out of their way to help and meals were wonderful. Even had glutton free ice cream yum.
Review 89:Hotel was appalling. GOLF view only by name, the view from our room was an old rusty fire escape and not much else. Shower head fell off on first use of the shower, followed by a 15 minute wait for the how water to appear. The bed was like lying on a bag of springs, and there was a gap under our bedroom door of around 2". Food in the restaurant was dreadful especially based on the cost. On leaving hotel filled out a comment card, stating we would like to hear feedback from the hotel on our points, 4 weeks on and still nothing... I don't know how this hotel got its rating, but in my opinion it should be revoked, as I have stayed in hundreds of hotels around the world, and for accommodation and service this is definitely the worst experience I have ever had. Absolute disgrace..
Review 90:Nairn itself is a beautiful town with friendly people.
Review 91:One staff member that missed out on the service training!
Review 92:The hotel, the bed, the surroundings, the beach, the bed was amazing, the food. everything was quite good here!
Review 93:The water for the shower could have been a bit warmer.
Review 94:Good location easy for parking. Room comfortable enjoyed the food. A bonus having a swimming pool to relax in.
Review 95:Room above was very noise during the night Bath fittings were caked in old dirt (otherwise bathroom was spotless) Difficulty locating staff when we wanted to eat or have coffee during quiet times
Review 96:Room was a good size Staff very friendly Excellent food
Review 97:Breakfast cooked was a bit limited for the options to me, whilst i understand the local produce thought
Review 98:Room was warm large and all the facilities in the right place
Review 99:Bedroom described as executive room but bedding was poor quality and view from window was of the fire escape.
Review 100:Nice location. Comfortable rooms, especially log fire in lounge.
Review 101:Apart from the walks which are heaven there really isn't much around the area. I can't fault the room, service, staff or meals.
Review 102:I checked the reviews over before I went and they didn't sell the hotel to me,. Me and my husband were looking for a total stress free couple of days to get away from all the usual problems in our lives. This hotel was tranquillity. We took our two dogs, walked the beach for miles and pampered ourselves in the spar facilities. Most certainly did the job and we both thoroughly enjoyed the stay. If you are looking for total relaxation, then this hotel is perfect!
Review 103:The room and bathroom were tired. Poor lighting in room. Service was hit and miss.
Review 104:Fantastic food, our evening meal in the restaurant was faultless. Nice pool and leisure area with great views over the Moray Firth.
Review 105:Although we enjoyed the 2 night stay during the first day we were disapointed in relation to a complaint against our dogs barking in the room. While we were in the swimming pool one of the staff members mentioned that other people could here our dogs barking. We immediately left the pool and went straight to our room which was on the top floor to check on the dogs. When we got there there was no signs of any barking. I went down to the reception to asked what the actual problem was and at the same time appologized for the dogs barking. I explained first of all that we have never had an issue with the dogs barking on our previous stay in 2013. To my confusion and disapointment when mentioned that we were not suppose to leave our dogs unattended in the room, so how are the guests with pets suppose to enjoy the facilities, go for breakfast or evening meal & the bar. The receptionist said this is the policy, well it was not explained clearly in 2013 and when booking online when i also had no confirmation about the hotel still housing pets which i then had to call the hotel to clarify that pets are still eligible to stay. I final got and answer from a quite disrespecfull receptionist which she advised that an extra £10 per dog per night would be charged but never ever mention or advised me to review the policy on the hotel web site or even discuss the pet policy over the actual phone call. I can asure that during our stay other pets owners were dining alone leaving their pets in the rooms alone, which is against the so called policy that is not mentioned when booking. My Wife was so upset and disapointed that she suggested terminating our visit on the very first day but due to the no refund policy and that we felt why should we do this we decided to continue our annivesary holiday.
Review 106:Hotel Facilities, and surroundings.
Review 107:We thought that cleanliness of room was sub-optimal: food variable & sometimes poor in quality & quantity & expensive. Many of the staff seemed to be in need of training & management was invisible. All in all, we would not recommend this hotel as being 4 star & certainly not worth the money.
Review 108:location
Review 109:We were staying for two days but stairs in need of vacuum. Reception staff could have been more welcoming.
Review 110:Spa treatments amazing Food delicious and varied. Staff attentive
Review 111:The only thing we can say is that in between courses the service was a bit slow but we were late coming down for our meal as we were all talking that much but it certainly did not spoil our night.
Review 112:The staff were all very polite and friendly, our rooms were clean and comfortable and our evening meal was super.
Review 113:Room was a bit worn, carpet was bare thread at side of bed. The shower was really mouldy, but was sorted very quickly, although it should never have got so bad in the first place.
Review 114:Location - right next to the beach Food in the restaurant was great quality. Spa & treatments Staff were very helpful Dinner, B&B & spa package excellent value for money
Review 115:Although reception staff were very pleasant they appeared harassed. They are the first impression a guest has and just need to engage with guests even if they cant attend to them straight away.
Review 116:great location comfortable room. good food. great spa experience. overall pretty good.
Review 117:Wonderful location nearby the seafront, excellent food quality, spacious rooms, very calm at night, good parking situation for our classic cars, friendly and helpful staff.
Review 118:we were in room 6 and the air-conditioning boiler was just outside our window which was very noisy. Thankfully it switched off about 11pm.
Review 119:dinner excellent, spa fist class, bedrooms clean.bed comfortable. bath and shower very good also.
Review 120:Some areas of the hotel are a bit tired now e.g. our bathroom could have done with having the woodwork painted but this would not put me off visiting the hotel again.
Review 121:Fabulous views overlooking the beach. We were there on a spa deal which was incredible value for money.....stayed for 3 nights DBB......we were on the 6 course tasting menu and the food was delicious and staff very accommodating when we had to take turns of taking the baby out for a walk in between courses to try and get him to sleep.....fabulous location and would definitely stay in this hotel again as you can't beat its location.
Review 122:Given the amount we paid we expected a better room which was dark claustrophobic with a view of a weed covered roof. The staff seemed a bit stressed at times
Review 123:Everything else. Place was really dirty. Insufficient and poorly trained staff. Needs a major refurbishment and upgrade to justify the cost. Catering suitable for a very downmarket coach tour. Depressing ambiance.
Review 124:Location and views
Review 125:Travelling a lot. Service was bad. Dinner according to a strict time table. Don't arrive 5 min.! late. No dinner / no other option suggested or provided. Also, people arrived for breakfast four minutes late and did not get any warm breakfast. Inexperienced, clumsy, inattentive, slow staff. No safes in (all) rooms. Changing area tired. We would not stay there again.
Review 126:Swimming pool and view. Location good if you want to play golf. Bathrobes provided.
Review 127:How tired the hotel had become. Poor quality of food. Very inexperienced staff with very little cheer. The fact that the majority of guests were getting better value for their rate i.e. spa treatments, dinner, sea views ect. Rediculous policies regarding where you could eat with small children and that you would end up paying supplements to eat there. When six people eating the same dessert expressed concern about the taste or the possibility that it was off.The reply from the waitress was that the chef had tried it and it was fine.It clearly was not! A poor show all round from a hotel which had been a family favourite twice a year for nearly 30 years!
Review 128:Staying in nairn and having fun with friends.
Review 129:Service at dinner in the conservatory was not good. It was slow and we asked for a jug of water and bread which didn't appear and neither did a side order of vegetables. Coffee was also slow to appear. We wondered if the same staff were also waiting tables in the main restaurant in which case they were overstretched but it didn't spoil our stay
Review 130:A lovely room on the top floor looking over the Firth. Excellent room and bathroom facilities. Hotel was in a good location. Lovely swimming pool. Good parking on site. Excellent breakfast (can recommend the Finnan Haddie with poached eggs) and a good dinner. Dinner in the conservatory was a lovely location with a view over the Firth and, right on cue as the sun was setting, a pod of dolphins wimming up the Firth!
Review 131:First day there was a large and loud wedding function. Wedding guests stayed in the hotel, many on our floor. The noise and behaviour of these people spoilt our first night.
Review 132:The Hotel had Great Style and we enjoyed the restaurant.
Review 133:There was nothing I did not like that cannot be overcome by good management
Review 134:I liked everything available,i.e, pool, spa, bar.restaurant, bedroom etc. Facilities are readily available at all times and staff in all departments are really friendly and helpful. However I think some are put on duty without too much training especially in the restaurant where the food is excellent but service can be a bit haphazard and disorganised albeit very friendly. It would not take much time to train the staff as they are all keen and want to be as helpful as possible
Review 135:Deal we had booked (spa deal)was not available as we could not actually book any of the three treatments we were supposed to get. Manager did however agree to give us an evening dinner instead.
Review 136:Food was really good. Staff were keen to help with anything they could. Outdoor hot tub with views out over the sea was fab.
Review 137:We were booked in for a spa treatment as part of room deal, but were unable to get this as was booked out .
Review 138:Like the location of hotel for the beach. Also enjoyed the hotel pool .
Review 139:There was nothing that I did not like.
Review 140:The hotel and staff were very friendly and helpful. The food in the hotel was excellent, we had an amazing lunch and the dinner was wonderful. The staff were extremely pleasant. Our room was on the first floor and very quiet and clean. I will certainly return to the hotel again.
Review 141:Our stay was really very enjoyable. Comfortable room, lovely food, staff were really friendly, spa was lovely and spa treatments were excellent. I could not fault anything about our stay. We will definitely use this hotel again.
