Reviews for Braeval Hotel

Review 1:The hotel is in a very good location on the links, with lovely views to the Moray Firth, yet close to town centre. The restaurant is good and the bar is well stocked with different beers/ales

Review 2:Didn't like the shower pressure as much but must admit that it may have been our ability to navigate the use of shower as each UK facility we stayed at has a different system. This comment is NOT to take away from this lovely accommodation.

Review 3:Staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The food and pub were great and location great with an easy walk to town and beach.

Review 4:Too many meals chips with chips and not enough variety with breakfast

Review 5:Everything clean and comfortable with hotel overlooking cricket club/ green and Moray Firth

Review 6:No issues.

Review 7:The location is great, the beach is nearby. The staff are helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing break and plan to stay at this hotel again.

Review 8:Limited parking but was able to find spot on street close by. Had to get grab bag breakfast as I had to be in work for 8am. Most other hotels I have stayed in will serve earlier 7 or 7:30

Review 9:Friendly. Good location. Nice bar and restaurant.

Review 10:Heating was off on a cold night? Parking is limited.

Review 11:Good location, very clean and well stocked bar, excellent food and very friendly staff. Great value for money.

Review 12:I really didn't find anything about the hotel to complain about, other than our two night/3 day stay was too short!

Review 13:Hotel is centrally located with a beautiful view of the Moray Firth. Staff was very friendly and professional - made you feel at home. Great restaurant and pub. Restaurant has both a restaurant and a pub menu. The pub offers over 100 brands of Whiskey - from local to national brands. Only 10 rooms so it feels more like a bed and breakfast than a hotel. A true hidden treasure. Town is nice but there are lots of things to do and see - great golf, a beautiful beach, and all the historic sites you could want.

Review 14:No variety with breakfast. Same menu repeated the next day. Wi-fi login was not provided on check-in. Infact wasnt informed about wifi at all.

Review 15:Location, ambience of the rooms was good. Also, staff was helpful.

Review 16:The restaurant/dining room had windows that overlooked the water; the food and service were very good. The adjoining pub room had an extensive selection of craft beers to enjoy. The breakfast provided offered lots to choose from and was delicious.

Review 17:Maid left pass keys to the entire hotel in our door! Anyone could have gone in or taken them and gotten into any of the other guests rooms.

Review 18:Location and lovely views. Very helpful and friendly staff in hotel reception and restaurant. Good food in restaurant.

Review 19:Bathroom is very small, though good shower.

Review 20:Easy parking in adjacent street. Good wi-fi. Good breakfast. Helpful staff. Room nothing flash, but OK. Good bar.

Review 21:Right before our room window was the kitchen fan and all the smell of the oil etc stinked a bit. But it was nothing in comparison with the absolutely terrible stink of the leaky sewer pipes in our bathroom...

Review 22:The hotel restaurant has excellent choice of foods, beer and single malt whiskies (about 111 different choices!!). The staff is kind and helpful.

Review 23:We had children with us and didn't realise that there was no residents lounge , comfy seats to chill in would have been nice

Review 24:The view and the food was excellent

Review 25:Small toilet (approx. 30" x 80") very small sink could not get both hands in at same time and as you stood at sink your back was hitting wall behind you, At check in staff did not know how to print an invoice, Breakfast was at 8am but managed to arrange breakfast for 7:30am but when arrived at breakfast room no one knew anything about an early breakfast

Review 26:Location, Breakfast staff

Review 27:My door often rattled so had to place some card between door and frame to prevent this. I sometimes struggled to park my car near to the hotel. The carpet in my room needed vacuuming as my socks were always covered in fluff/hairs (none mine!!) when I walked around in the room.

Review 28:Sea view room. Spacious. Heated towel rail. Good value. Cooked breakfast was excellent, especially the black pudding.

Review 29:The only thing missing was a hotel guest comfortable area to sit when not in room - however we appreciate that this is primarily a pub & space is at a premium. This would not put us off & will stay again.

Review 30:Everything - fantastic position & beers, good food, spotless comfortable room.

Review 31:advertised real cider which was one of the reasons i booked this property no real cider at all plenty real ales but no cider however a pleasant stay.

Review 32:pleasant and friendly staff varied choice of food and meals.

Review 33:Shower head was broken and it had obviously been broken for a bit as the previous person had left a questionnaire in the room mentioning the shower head. But to be fair I didn't say anything so I didn't really give them the opportunity to sort this.

Review 34:Really nice people. Breakfast was gorgeous. Lovely beach view.

Review 35:Definitely not luxury. Condensation on windows wets the curtains! Shower not the best but room (4) was comfy enough.

Review 36:Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Outstanding beer (though not cheap!). Bar meals were pretty good. Would stay again for same price.

Review 37:The room we were given was quite small, and was located over the kitchen with the extractor fan directly outside the window. We didn't notice the noise until we returned to our room after dinner. Thankfully it quietened down by the time we went to sleep. The only real other issue was the parking. We had to park opposite the nearby Havelock hotel overnight as there was no space left in the lane behind.

Review 38:Great location with sea views. The food was excellent and the atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and adequate for one night's stay. Had everything you could need.

Review 39:The toilet in the room smelt awful like turnip, the only thing that disappointed me and let down the stay otherwise it would have been 10/10

Review 40:location the view from the room, the location, free WiFi, the bar and restaurant, the range of whisky and beer they had,

Review 41:limited parking close to hotel but OK at time of our visit.

Review 42:Small,comfortable hotel, friendly welcoming atmosphere and staff. Good food and attentive service. Excellent value. Handy location for both beach and town.

Review 43:The Bandstand restaurant serves excellent food, good friendly service and value for money, the hotel it's self is well worth a visit and we would definitely stay again if in that area.

Review 44:No proper car park. Parked car in the lane at the rear of the hotel.

Review 45:The meals were really nice and the staff were friendly and efficient. Room was comfy but the strange step in to Room 8 almost caught me out, nearly tumbled but really enjoyed my stay. The bar is really nice and real ales and malt whiskies a plenty!

Review 46:Nothing

Review 47:Delightful stay with wonderful food and staff. Very clean and comfortable, excellent value and will book every time I'm in the area on business. Made me feel very safe and secure, a must for a woman travelling alone. Can't recommend highly enough

Review 48:Leaving...

Review 49:We booked this place because it was the least expensive in the area. We were happy we went there. Our room had a sea view. The bed was great. The bar and restaurant downstairs was awesome. The breakfast was the best breakfast we had our entire trip. I would stay again if in the area. Cleaned the room every day and replaced the coffees we drank the day before and cleaned the cups

Review 50:Smell if stale beer in the morning going through bar to restaurant fir breakfast it was the only thing that upset me.

Review 51:Bar had may ales and whiskies to choose from .

Review 52:The staff were really friendly and helpful. The bar was great with a nice selection of whisky! Bed was comfortable and breakfast was one of the better breakfast I've had staying in hotels. I'd definitely recommend this hotel. Unfortunately we never ate in the restaurant but would return for food as the menu looked nice and reasonably priced.

Review 53:no parking as such , find a place at kerbside ! also no hot water for showers tried several times in vain.

Review 55:cant think of anything

Review 56:good rooms ,food, staff, drink etc.a very comfortable friendly hotel with a great atmosphere .bar and resteraunt excellent with live music on weekends.very friendly staff and owners.highly recommended.

Review 57:Minor concern with parking, but we were able to park close. Two of our four rooms windows opened to exhaust from restaurant.

Review 58:View was beautiful. Restaurant/bar enjoyable, outdoor seating enjoyable. Walking distance to the golf course. Breakfast was very good start to our days.

Review 59:Had to wait at reception and go and find someone to book us in. They were very busy that weekend though. Restaurant is good but a little overpriced.

Review 60:staff excellent. spotlessly clean and comfortable. Value for money. Good breakfast.

Review 61:Stayed here the night before I dude the Rat Race Coast to Coast. The location was perfect, close to the North Sea. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was lovely and the bar was friendly with a buzzing atmosphere. Great place with free wifi too

Review 62:I can not fault my stay there.

Review 63:As a couple, we were both very pleased with the reception we received and the helpfulness of the staff. The accommodation was comfortable, clean with a nice view from window. The food was also good. We would definitely stay there again, if visiting the area.

Review 64:Owner is actively involved in daily operations, greeting clients for breakfast and serving dinner and cleaning tables. Rooms were clean and had views of sea.

Review 65:Nothing to dislike

Review 66:Room -Spotless and comfortable Food - beautiful and nicely presented Staff - Informative, friendly, helpful Service - First class Will return but, for a longer visit next time

Review 67:Small room, for a double, could not get cases past the bed...the window backs onto the roof of the kitchen area....we could smell everything that was being cooked....it was not nice...also the roar of the air con unit on the roof as well. Window did not lock and anybody could climb onto roof and get in...not secure at all. window also opened all the way up, a young child could fall out...very bad......had to wait over 8 minutes to check in...no staff.....bar was empty...again only one member of staff...food was not to high standard although there was a big choice on the menu.....PLEASE change your cooking fat..in the deep fryer...the chips were soggy and burnt...a classic sign....When a pub/hotel employ young kids on a Friday/saturday night in the restaurant, please teach them how to smile...be courteous....We were never offered any coffee/Tea after our £76.00 meal...very very poor service....

Review 68:Location, Location, Location and that is it.....

Review 69:Disappointed that we didn't have a room with a sea view, but breakfast in the restaurant with the view made up for that

Review 70:Comfortable clean and well decorated accommodation. Reasonable for a hotel
