Reviews for Aegli Hotel
Review 1:I expected an extra ordinary breakfast but got the usual instead.
Review 2:The hotel was really fine. Although I think a score of 8,8 is much. I liked very much the design and the cleanliness. Staff was ok.
Review 3:TERRIBLE room, straight outta the early 2000s dated and scratched furniture no renovation or alike has been donet(he fancy lobby can be deceitful...) tiles in the bathroom and everything was offensively old and neglected....!! A balcony that would impress a smurf...too tiny NO STAIRS??plus, given all the above, """"""SHOCKINGLY EXPENSIVE! ! ! """""""
Review 4:the location and the view...
Review 5:They use a next door annex-that used to be Pallas hotel, a 3 star aging hotel-for standard rooms. The annex doesn't appear in the photos of the main page and you need to check the information of the standard rooms when you pick them in order to get an idea of the kind of room you are getting. I didn't because I was so impressed by the first photos!!! When I found out I asked to pay the difference and get a superior room but they said that there wasn't one available. When I told them that the site of booking.com shows that there is one they said that is was a mistake and the only room that they had was 115. I checked the room which looked in to a dark area with a staircase and seemed to be a kind of family room that I finally decided not to take.
Review 6:Clever management. They might give you a good room in the main building if it is not full and that is how they get some of the good ratings!!
Review 7:See the above comment and understand why we will not return again.
Review 8:We got rooms in the old part of the hotel. It was so lousy. THE beds are very old and it is impossible to sleep. IT SMELL OLD.
Review 9:We had an 'old' room. Not a refitted one, very dated, bathroom not in a good state of repair with loose tiles in the shower. Power turns off when you leave the room so cannot leave the air con on. Had to ask in reception for a hair dryer and air con controller too. Will pay for a better room next time.
Review 10:Location and very good breakfast. Comfortable bed. Excellent view along the port and quayside.
Review 11:Unless you know the streets, it's extremely difficult to park freely, resulting in expensive car parking fees.
Review 12:Lots of resonably priced restaurants and bars in location. Very good breakfast.
Review 13:the rudness of the person in charge at the reception, no parking, the elevator not working
Review 14:the location, the comfortable room and the view from the balcony
Review 15:One one slow lift that only accommodates two people - and the staircase is corridors away!
Review 16:The breakfast. It was really excellent. Staff friendly and very helpful. Right opposite the port.
Review 17:Lift out of order made carrying heavy bags up and down stairs difficult.
Review 18:Great location for ferry ,bed, nice toiletries, nicely refurbished ,great value for money
Review 19:There is no technical ventilation in the bathroom. The very small window does not do much.
Review 20:Very clean! The renovated rooms are modern with good design. Our friends stayed in a not renovated room. I was very clean but the furnitures are old.
Review 21:There is no available parking at the hotel but the hotels personnel takes care of you letting you park in front of the hotel so don't bother with it.Nice place near the sea and the centre of Volos town.Clean & Comfortable rooms, helpful personnel. ..We think that s enough☺
Review 22:The hotel picture was not what we get !! This hotel has to unit so our room was at the old part of this hotel so the room was not what we see on the picture and even the bathroom was so small
Review 23:The location of the hotel it is the best of this hotel The breakfast was good and the staff are friendly
Review 24:The staff at reception were fantastic. The hotel was opposite the port. Bus and train terminals were within walking distance. Shops were in behind the hotel. Really enjoyed our stay
Review 25:They didn't answer to the mail where I asked for baby bad and if they do not have it to tell me so I can bring it. I booked superior room 25m2 (that was in description of the room on booking). We got a very small room and that was not good for us because we have 1 year old son who requires some space for himself.
Review 26:Good position, nice breakfast
Review 27:Nothing that I didn't like
Review 28:The hotel was great, clean, comfortable, with an excellent breakfast! I would recommend it without any doubts! And I would for sure comme back!
Review 29:Bed mattress (room 130) bad. Elevator stinging sewage. Breakfast facilities scattered in at least 5 different places. Staff going in and out continuously bringing supplies. Bad sound insulation (harbor noise evident). Little free space in the room. Bleak color of furniture. Limited choice of TV channels.
Review 30:Close to the harbor and market, entrance of the city, clean and tidy, nice externally and internally. Good room service
Review 31:Hospitality, amiability, commodity, design, location... Everything in hotel was as it should be - nice rooms with enough space, well designed bathroom, staff with good manners, good breakfast...
Review 32:View onto internal stairwell and renovation works. The sign saying "if you are looking for a hotel with a view, this is your place" (or something like that) in the breakfast room seemed to be taking the mickey. Wifi coverage didn't reach our bed.
Review 33:Excellent bathroom and great bed. Very convenient for ferry in the morning. Spotlessly clean. We were in the renovated part of the hotel (deluxe).
Review 34:Great location on port, very near to ferries. Hotel is very comfortable, we used accomodation with two separate rooms, great for families with two children. A lot of restaurants are near, great stop on the way to Skiathos or other island.
Review 35:Stayed here before but the standard double room, though in a very good position with a balcony, was very cramped.
Review 36:Love the position of this quiet hotel on the front. The staff are always really helpful and friendly and the breakfast tasty and fresh. We got a good price for the time of year too. We liked our balcony too.
Review 37:The most unfriendly and arrogant staff we ever encountered in Greece. When we checked in it was made clear we could only use the old elevator which was a bit of a problem since it could only take 2 persons and we were with 5, all with a suitcase. This made just getting to our room a strenuous event after a long day of driving. Wifi only worked in public places and was not working properly. The fridge didn't work and the staff who was sent said that if we wanted to have someting cooled he could take it and bring it back in half an hour (at 9pm). They announce a fridge in the room facilities but forget to mention it is not working. When we asked for a spoon at breakfast they looked at us as if we were asking for their wallet. Much against their will we were giving the desired cutlery.
Review 38:The only positive point of this hotel is the location but even then you need to find a place to park your car, which is not evident.
Review 39:Lot of noise during the night, no matter what. For parking you should use the public one, in the port, not for free.
Review 40:Great location. Nice refurbished rooms.
Review 41:The first day we were told that the room was upgraded. It was in the new part of the hotel, very designed, but was very small, no place for our belongings, even not a shelf. The next night we were moved to a normal double room.
Review 42:location, brakefast
Review 43:Location just next to the port and ticket office. Friendly stuff. Close to nice local restaurants where a dinner is a must (greek starters are something you have to taste)
Review 44:The way the hotel is marketed is slightly misleading. There are 2 parts to the hotel the old and new. Basically the old part is basic and rather tired. The new part has been refurbished to a high standard so when booking be aware that standard rooms are in the old part
Review 45:The staff were wonderful and the breakfast one of the best I've had in a hotel. We booked a standard room which I hadn't realised. These rooms are basic and views are not great. When I told reception we weren't happy with the room (as we had a dog and it was quite small) they immediately upgraded us to a suite. Staff were truly amazing
Review 46:No free parking.
Review 47:Recomended!!! Value for money. Helpful staff. Very clean. Perfect location and close to just about everything. Double glazing and air-conditioning. Excellent breakfast. Fast WIFI
Review 48:There was no tourist information about Volos at the hotel reception.
Review 49:Design and comfort of the newly renovated rooms is excellent. Perfect location on the waterfront and close to just about everything. Breakfast was the best I have had in a hotel anywhere in the world.
Review 50:Eating in Tsipourodakias close to hotel. If you order a Tsipourodakias, you don't even need to think about what you want to eat: you are presented with a selection of tasty local dishes.
Review 51:We had a morning ferry and this hotel is perfect. Spacious and clean room, beds were lofty and comfortable. The balcony looked over the port and was very relaxing after an afternoon of shopping in busy Volos. Only downside is parking but we lucked out and got a rare spot beside the hotel, otherwise there is parking across the street at the port. Staff was friendly and welcoming.
Review 52:Noisy guests need to be controlled as sound really echoes from reception and stairs
Review 53:Good location, lovely building recently beautifully refurbished, pleasant staff, super room.
Review 54:Everything is wonderful and a good value for money; the staff exceptionally polite and provided all the information we requested on travel in the region and sightseeing
Review 55:Only thing that caused a slight niggle was the wi-fi didn't work in our room - only a minor issue and didn't spoil our stay at all.
Review 56:Loved everything - clean, comfortable and homely/
Review 57:The hotel is in a perfect location across from the harbour promenade. The breakfast is excellent with both hot and cold choices (and open until 10:00). I parked on the street and received a parking ticket. The hotel paid it for me. Staff are wonderful as are the rooms. Bed and pillows were really good.
Review 58:the deterioration of the breakfast, hot food was cold and that was at 7am when the restaurant opened ,also lack of choice however hotel was full and both breakfast areas were in use !,.
Review 59:The staff ,always a friendly welcome and a genuine effort to be helpful
Review 60:Given room 231 with a large balcony and sea view. Unfortunately the Volos buses weren't running to usual times so we didn't get there until midnight! Very friendly staff and great breakfast choice.
Review 61:The cheaper non-luxurious wing is dated but everything works. The bed was very hard for my liking but got used to it the third night.
Review 62:Great location, excellent common areas, wifi, very clean, helpful staff.
Review 63:No (free parking) nearby. You either have to leave the car further away or pay - not the best option if you stay a few days and the parking cost is per hour! The room was a bit small. We were lucky to have a small suitcase because a larger one would have been in the way.
Review 64:The location is excellent, right next to the port, the city center, shops and taverns. The receptionist was vey polite and helpful. Breakfast was simple but fresh and with good variety. The room was recently renovated.
Review 65:They don't have parking arrangnents. The 2 parking spots they own are not enough, however you can park in front of the hotel on the the pavement until 0900 in the morning.
Review 66:Lovely small hotel located in the middle of Volos seafront. Many restaurants around serving greek dishes and sea food. Very good breakfast. The only shortage is parking. The hotel has only 2 parking spaces and when they occupide you have a problem. We love our stay. Please note they have 2 kind if rooms. You need to upgrade for a renovated room to get the maxinum comfort the hotel can offer. Recommended.
Review 67:I had to wait long at the lobby, seeing the staff cleaning the lobby first... not the room for the guest...
Review 68:Good staff and kind arrangement of room with best view
Review 69:Nothing...
Review 70:We really enjoyed our 5 day stay at this lovely, minimalist, and very tastefully designed hotel. The linen was changed daily and everything was spotlessly clean. We were lucky enough to have a room with a balcony that had a stunning view of the harbour.
Review 71:The only problem is the lack of parking facility of the hotel. Even public parking availability is non-existent in the neighbourhood. Anyway, we somehow managed with the kind help and advice of the hotel staff.
Review 72:Almost everything was excellent. The premises are recently renovated with top quality and sound-proof materials. The interiors are sleak minimal in superb taste, the breakfast is very good and gives a great choice. Our room didn't have any view but we didin't ask for it as we were meeting friends in town and spent all day out of the hotel. We will definitely stay again in this hotel, provided the prices will remain reasonable.
Review 73:No bad experiences since 2010.
Review 74:Very nice area in the center, new equipment, very clean. Nice view if you have rooms to the harbor. Stable and fast WIFI
Review 75:airconditioner-heater. it was either too hot and dry or a bit cold. they however informed us that there was an issue and since we stayed the day of the biggest snowstorm for years in Volos, this was something that I feel that they should be excused.
Review 76:location, comfort, view, simple and modern decoration, breakfast
Review 77:No parking space in front of the Hotel to get the luggage out of the car, no possibility to park for free around it, very expensive to leave the car at the harbour parking across the street for several hours or days.
Review 78:Very good location right at the sea front, just a couple of blockes from the shopping area of the city. Modern, calm, clean Hotel. Nice breakfast. The staff was not very professional (talking with each other, not very friendly or willing to help...)
Review 79:No negatives as far as I was concerned.
Review 80:We have stayed in the Aegli before but this was the first time in one of the new rooms. Superb standard, modern, clean and very comfortable. It can't be faulted.
Review 81:only negetive was you could hear the lift from the room but that is all
Review 82:100% fantastic all round fab rooms with huge bathrooms, toiletries and new towels and great breakfast that was being restocked all the time as it was busy .safe place to leave shopping before and after checkout .
Review 83:I asked where I could park my car, and was told the place I were was OK: in the morning, I found a ticket on my windshied! At the fines cashier, they told me the hotel does it regularly! moreover, they have a sign saying "if you like a nice view, this is the hotel": my room. #117, did not even have a view of the sky!
Review 84:The breakfast could be a little more adapted and filled with greek products as fresh orange juice, fruits, jams and cheeses and a free greek coffee
Review 85:IF you can stay in the rooms to the sea front espeacially with the big balkony it is beautiful.
Review 86:Great location on promenade. Double glazing and air-conditioning meant good sleep. Lovely 1930s building refurbished extremely well. Lovely large room, well laid out, with balcony overlooking harbour. Walking distance from train station. Immaculate.
Review 87:Pillows were too big. The bedroom carpet make me feel quite sick and giddy when I was reading as I could see the pattern in my peripheral vision, the stripes on the hall carpets affected my husband's balance, he has Parkinsons Disease. I was not fond of it either. Will not stop us booking again.
Review 88:Greeting, booking in, modern facilities, great breakfasts! Lovely breakfast lady and the chef cooks a great fried egg! Perfect location for the port and many tavernas close by. The waffle and ice cream bar (turn left as you leave hotel and walk a bit) is not to be missed!!!!
Review 89:Small rooms, stained carpets, tiny elevator. Weak Wi-Fi signal. No space at the described "free parking near hotel" (in practice - directly on the street) and one needs to park across the street at the private parking.
Review 90:Good location near waterfront. Excellent breakfast. Friendly personnel.
Review 91:Loved everything no negative comments at all
Review 92:Modern rooms with freindly staff which offers excellent value for money. We took our pet dog who was also made most welcome.
Review 93:Nothing to report!
Review 94:I believe the hotel has been recently refurbished - whatever was spent was worth the investment! Cosy, clean, bedrooms are perfectly adapted to the modern style of the hotel. Breakfast was superb, with a wide choice of dishes. Position of hotel is excellent, on promenade & centre of town, (and opposite the ferry port!). Numerous restaurants, tavernas, & shops on your doorstep. Must mention the staff - very friendly and good service.
Review 95:There was nothing not like
Review 96:The place was very nice and had a really good breakfast buffet with fresh items to choose from and delicious! The staff was very friendly and ready to help out with anything we needed (locating a 24 hour pharmacy at 4am). When I come back to Volos, we will stay at hotel Aegli
Review 97:The parking space is a bit crowded but across the street there is a public parking open 24hr which charged us around 12 Euros from 17:00 till 08:00.
Review 98:Perfect location for catching ferries. Plenty of restaurants in the vicinity. Very nice and comfortable Superior Rooms but not sure about the Standard Rooms.
Review 99:Our travel plans were messed up by a delayed flight but the staff at the Aegli showed a flexibility that was amazing. The room was clean and fresh, as were the communal areas that we saw, and the bed really comfortable. The breakfast (included) was a delight to behold. Would certainly recommend this hotel to others and would return if in the area again.
Review 100:On arrival we were welcomed with a smile and were offered a free upgrade to a renovated double room. The new decor is tasteful and we loved being situated in a corner since it meant that our room was round and had a big bank of windows. The included breakfast offered lots of choice. Excellent value; highly recommended.
Review 101:The hall carpet, lack of disabled access ie slope to front door, lift etc.
Review 102:The beds, the breakfast, the air con. The staff, we left something behind and after contacting them they posted it on to us, brilliant.
Review 103:Our check in staff was below average and not helpful at all. Tainted an otherwise great stay.
Review 104:Great location to the port and were able to walk to the bus station too.
Review 105:The hotel was a great surprise. It has a very contemporary decor - very nice. It is located right opposite the ferry terminal for the islands. Breakfast was fantastic - 4 kinds of cooked eggs as well as everything else. The room was excellent. A great find
Review 106:Too noisy from the street, very warm if you don't like to sleep with the AC on. The pillows are stonelike but it seems you can ask the reception to replace them.
Review 107:The location. The superior rooms are clean and comfortable.
Review 108:Room has a big balcony but unfortunately, room was too small. If you open a balcony, to breadth air, you cant sleep because the noise form the traffic near by. Insist to have bigger room without balcony or small balcony
Review 109:Very clean hotel, nice staff, ok breakfast. perfect position!
Review 110:The hotel has a great location especially if you need to take the boat to the islands. Great clean rooms, good breakfast and close to a lot of restaurants.
Review 111:Dificult to find a parking place.
Review 112:Very good location for tourists who want to take the ferry for Skiathos, Skopelos (Sporades). Complete breakfast, nice and clean room. A lot of tavernas around the hotel
Review 113:We stayed one night before returning home and the hotel had a perfect location on quay opposite ferry terminal and next to taxi service to airport, near lots of great restaurants . Great staff esp receptionist .
Review 114:Fridge did not work in room & said they would fix but didn't. No tea/ coffee available in room either.Same price is charged for room with no view at all as the front ones with a balcony which would be far nicer.
Review 115:Very chic & modern. Very understanding about the fact we had missed our flight & needed to change our booking to the next day with no extra charge. Excellent breakfast selection
Review 116:Traffic noise in the morning, but you need to get up anyway...
Review 117:If you are passing by car thru Volos on your trip to Sporades, Aegli is a good place to stay, since it is very close to the port, offers nice rooms with good bathroom, and decent breakfast. Taverns and walking district just meters away.
Review 118:Small beattles in the bath tub and no compensation. They didn't take care about our demand to be in a quiet room. So we got a room on the street very noisy. Finally we were moved, but the room was smaller and still no compensation.
Review 119:New building. Good breakfast. Good location. Nice staff
Review 120:Wonderful breakfast, shower spacious and modern as well as clean, great location by harbor. Would love to stay there again. Can't go wrong with this hotel.
Review 121:Beautiful newly renovated hotel. Extremely clean and amazing staff. We were so happy with our stay that we went back at the end of our trip to stay another night!
Review 122:The manager/owner ? of thehotel was a rather lugubrious figure and it seemed to affect the mood of personnel. Didn't seem to be a happy hotel, although upon arrival we were unexpectedly upgraded to a superior room.
Review 123:A perfect location, a very clean room and a solid breakfast. Certainly value for money.
Review 124:It was disappointing to pay for Greek coffee or cappuccino or espresso at breakfast (included was only tea and filter coffee). Such stuff could have been included.
Review 125:Friendly staff; comfortable rooms; good quality stay; reach breakfast. Located very close to the ferry if you need one, and in the middle of embankment / promenade with restaurants and bars.
Review 126:Bathroom door was too narrow for me.
Review 127:The hotel is completly new, very clean. We return with the ferry after midnight and the hotel was just in front of the port, great location for us.
Review 128:Nothing.
Review 129:The Aegli is very good value-it is clean, the decor is stylish, the beds are comfortable, the staff are helpful and friendly and the breakfast is lavish. The hotel is situated right on the waterfront in Volos close to restaurants, banks, museum and shops.
Review 130:Since it has a convenient location i stayed a night as i was going to Pilion and one on my return from the mountain. The first time i booked a superior (renovated) double, but due to late arrival and availability i was upgraded to a suite. All good, nice minimal design and plenty of window in the somewhat small, but very high ceiling room. On my return, they only had a single occupancy triple room, in the other non renovated wing. Spooky room, door that looked violated, three single beds, nowhere to sit, no windows...only a shaft 1,5m with the airconditions, that shouldn't be opened. Giant old tv taking much of the space, and terrible wifi, not working on my laptop, just the smartphone (and i had used many many hotel wifi's recently). Overall a very different and confusing experience. Good breakfast, but not worth a stay more than one night, unless you get only a renovated room, considering their prices.
Review 131:location, breakfast, design in the suite
