Reviews for Résidence Val de Roland

Review 1:The apartment was not comparable nor clean. Clean Linen and towels were provided only upon demand. WIFI is available only at the Lobby. Without any doubt, this was the worst hotel during our 2 weeks trip at Spain and French Pyrenees, however was one of the expensive (poor cost benefit). Having said that, unfortunately it seems that there are not many other options for families traveling at this area (and wish to stay only 2 nights) in term of location and cost.

Review 2:Location and staff

Review 3:The mattresses where verry uncomfortable, so we had to sleep on the couch.

Review 4:The appartements are on a great location, Just a smal walk to the centre of the village with some nice restaurants.

Review 5:Very uncomfortable bed, wifi only in reception - which is as advertised- but would be nicer in the appartment.

Review 6:Excellent location, great parking, good views and nice swimming pool

Review 7:Kept awake into early hours by rowdy children and screaming baby in adjacent room. Not really the hotel's fault but better soundproofing could help

Review 8:Value for money with a very good selection of food on the dinner menu

Review 9:Difficult to communicate in English. Lack of basic equipment such as washing up brush, detergent, tea towel etc. Nothing to wipe the surfaces with - had to use tissues. Not suitable for overnight stays.

Review 10:Good location. Lift. Sunny balcony.

Review 11:No wifi in the rooms.

Review 12:3 different rooms, well equipped kitchen, close to Gavarnie and to lac de Gaube. Bread and croissant service to reception. A pool, sauna and jacuzzi.

Review 13:The corridor area didn't look finished, cement floors looked to be waiting to be tiled. Wardrobe doors coming off their runners & trim starting to come away.

Review 14:Staff where very friendly. Apartment was clean & confortable.

Review 15:Having to clean the apartment and strip the beds. It's fine if you're looking for a self catering holiday, but for a single traveller who just wants somewhere to sleep for a night it's inconvenient. It's either a hotel or a residence, it can't try to be both. Limited window for checking in and out, also inconvenient if you're just looking for an overnight stay.

Review 16:The swimming pool and sauna.

Review 17:All stairs and corridors are concrete and they are dirty because of the many pigeons around. Apartment is a bit dark, when it is not sunny you need to put lights on all day. No place to store bicycles, we had to take them up to the apartment in a very small elevator. Upon arrival we had to wait until the Reception opened at 16.00 PM. Kitchen is poorly equipped, e.g. no coffee cups were available

Review 18:Nice location close to the village with beautiful view on the mountains. Ample parking space Quiet, hardly any noise from neighbors

Review 19:Tiny bedrooms, felt claustrophobic. Lack of overhead shower in bathroom No cups in kitchen Limited restaurants open in local village Pigeon mess on stairway constantly....need to prevent pigeon access, not just clean up some days.

Review 20:Good location for walking in Pyrenees Good view of mountains from balcony Quiet/peaceful in 2nd week of September Option to collect bread from reception area each morning Helpful staff

Review 21:A very good self catering apartment for longer stays. Exceptional location for cycling - Tourmalet, Luz Ardiden, Hautacam, col d'Aubisque all close. Will definitely stay again.

Review 22:The accomodation is very basic for summer since it is designed for ski trips.. The apartments are very small and you get the impression that it could be cleaner. Beds are not made on arrival. Reasonable value for money.

Review 23:Situation great, staff very friendly and helpful

Review 24:Entrance to chalet A was unfinished so felt like we were walking into a construction area. Guests are responsible for making and stripping beds, and cleaning before leaving - this made to morning of departure busy.

Review 25:Spacious with a good- sized kitchen. Apartment had everything we needed.

Review 26:Extra charge for additional towels Additional toilet paper is not supplied No internet in rooms and apportunity for internet is closed at 21:00...

Review 27:Nice swimming pool Good location for travelling around

Review 28:The building are ugly... could use decoration and painting. Kitchen a little too small. Twin bed too soft and shaky, sofa opened to bed has bumps and not comfortable. Wifi only in lobby.

Review 29:The location is great, village very useful for touring around. The staff was very attentive and always with a smile. The apartment had all we needed. Laundry room met our needs. Pool was nice for the kids. Fast check in and out, option for bread to the lobby every morning was great.

Review 30:Nice place, apartment clean and facilities nice. Location good for travel in the area, close to center of village yet quite pastoral. Apartment very small for 5..

Review 31:Smells dingy when you enter, furniture outdated, used own glasses, they were too small, feels like a factory, with cemented corridors like it was unfinished, and to top it off when checking out a cleaning inspection scheduled every 10 minutes, so you needed to be ready in exact time. The average score of 8 is highly overrated...

Review 32:Locatie

Review 33:The attitude is not pleasant. Have to stand outside the office for WIFI. (Rain, sun) No hot water on first night, just because they've not adjusted the thermostat right. And no one to handle such situations out of office hours. Very basic build of the buildings. Bare cement floors.

Review 34:Location is good and appartment is nice.

Review 35:Staff were disinterested - but it was very busy- room was advertised to sleep five with a bunk and a single. It did not have this- it had a single and a pull out sofa bed. The accommodation was very cramped.

Review 36:Easy free parking, a five min walk to town away from the busy centre that was chaotic, but exciting, during the Tour De France.

Review 37:- No coffee/tea cups- VERY small rooms - Expectation to clean the apmt at the end of the stay, even though this wasn't reflected in the relatively high price for a tiny apartment (€150 a night?!) - No spare toilet roll - how much would it really cost them?! - Make your own bed when you arrive and then take the sheets to the laundry at the end of the stay. Again, fine if in a cheap hostel, but this is a pricey apartment given its size and standard of facilities

Review 38:- Good location a short walk from the village- Cooking facilities to self-cater - Quiet location

Review 39:Wi-Fi is only available in the reception area. Now that almost everyone uses Wi-Fi this really should be available in the rooms now. Also the shower for some reason had the mount located just above the bath so to use it as a shower you have to sit in the bath and hold the shower head

Review 40:Location, Sauna, rooms were a great size

Review 41:weak wifi we had to clean the house in the end of our stay and to put the linens when we arrived.

Review 42:the room was very comfortable. the apartment was close to the city center. for additional payment there is a washing machine and dryer. there was a pool

Review 43:No cleaning supplies included. Not even garbage bags! Dish washer didn't work and was replaced by another that would not complete a cycle.

Review 44:Close to the city centre while being in a quiet location. Spacious room with nice cooking facilities. Reception spoke several languages including English.

Review 45:Many little things require improvement. The property was apparently built saving costs in everything, including design, which reflects itself in a lower quality. Wifi was difficult to get working and it only worked in the lobby. Sauna was forbidden for minors and it was forbidden to throw water on the stones, making the sauna unusable. The lobby had limited opening hours, closing at 7 p.m. and 10:30 a.m., keeping you in a hurry with both arrival and departure. Bring your own stuff, such as toilet paper, and you will not be hit by occasional flaws in the service.

Review 46:The location provides standard lower medium class accommodation. There is not much special in it. It is quite all right to stay a couple of nights if you don't expect high quality. This is not the place to spend your long dream vacation, though. There is one luxury item: a swimming pool that is partly inside, partly outside.

Review 47:Parking was a little hard to find close to the hotel.

Review 48:Great location to walk to restaurants.

Review 49:Great central location. Lovely town. Stayed here one night to go to the pic de midi.

Review 50:Quiet location & no disturbance during the night, although the stay was during the low season.

Review 51:No cleaning supplies provided, only for a fee

Review 52:Close to town, rural setting or at least that feeling, nice pool

Review 53:The pillows of the bed

Review 54:The location is perfect.

Review 55:beds are awful self cleaning is weird blankets should be clean

Review 56:location space sweaming pool staff

Review 57:Slightly too small with not enough kitchen utensils

Review 58:Nice location and simple apartments

Review 59:Water too cold in the swimming pool

Review 60:Wifi not in room only in loby which is a different building

Review 61:Great location - walking distance to town

Review 62:nothing

Review 63:Great value for money and a fantastic setting

Review 64:Was a bit cold in October even with the heaters on

Review 65:Kitchen is good Views! The area is calm and really close to the town

Review 66:No remarks

Review 67:Nice room (duplex, 8 persons) Nice location, near to the center Nice view on the mountains Helpfull staff

Review 68:very beautiful location, very nice and quiet appartment

Review 69:The beds. Lack of kitchen equipment.

Review 70:The view

Review 71:Poor position of some electric sockets

Review 72:Style of accomodation Pool General lounge facilities Location with views Proximity to village

Review 73:Excellent location. Friendly staff. Lovely pool area.

Review 74:Nothing

Review 75:Nice clean large apartment, close to town. Storage provided on ground floor for cycles. Lift to all floors. Lovely views of the mountains.

Review 76:Nothing!!

Review 77:Beautiful apartment, well equipped and very clean. Very clear departure and arrival instructions. Couldn't fault the apartment or its location

Review 78:Wifi should be everywhere, it's standard now. No shower curtain and water gets eveywhere. No hallway lights to the room, had to make beds and clean room yourself. Staff was not particularly helpful.

Review 79:Better for large groups, and certainly would be more reasonable for winter. Liked having spa, sauna and pool available.

Review 80:Lots of children in swimmingpool. Muchos niños en la piscina

Review 81:very nice staff. Enough forniture. Clean. Good views. staff muy amables. Suficientemente amueblado. limpio. buenas vistas

Review 82:Room was pretty small. Children were keen to swim, it would've been nice if the pool was a bit warmer.

Review 83:Good location, room was very clean and well equipped.

Review 84:This is our second time staying here . It has everything you want when skiing . Good accommodation , clean and value for money . I have recommend this accommodation to many people . Will be back again

Review 85:Jacuzzi, swimming pool and sauna is closed too early from monday to friday. At 18:30. Not enough time to arrive from skiing and relax for a while.

Review 86:Location and facilities

Review 87:Twice filled room inventory list could be streamlined. How many tea spoons go missing?

Review 88:Comfortable place to stay with a family, five minute walk into town and 30 minute drive to the ski fields. Enough kitchen gear to be independent. Heated swimming pool and sauna

Review 89:There was nothing to dislike unless you wanted to meet other people. On 7 October it was virtually deserted.

Review 90:We prefer flexibility of self catering. Facilities in apartment excellent. Safe parking on doorstep. Views to die for. I wanted to cycle up The Tourmalet and hotel situation for this epic is perfect. My wife did some walking and also enjoyed the pool heated to 28 degrees !!

Review 91:Rooms were very small and a lot of self service issues like dropping off linen and taking out garbage that probably should be done by staff that prep room for next guests, but that's what I expected with this pricepoint.

Review 92:Kind of a funky property. The pics make it look like its out in the country side when in fact it is a condo complex in a residential neighborhood in town next to a field. it was a quick to town and the pool and sauna / steam were nice after a chilly lap on the bikes around the Tourmalet. Price was right for our group and parking was adequate for the van we were driving.

Review 93:Having to leave after a great weeks cycling!

Review 94:Location is perfect for a weeks cycling the big cols of the Pyrenees. Staff were excellent, as was the room and we left the bikes on the balcony which seemed ok. 4 or 5 major mountain top routes can be made direct from the hotel and more from the other side of the Tourmalet in campan and just a little further. Also free Wi fi and pool + Sauna and great value with the price we paid through the booking website.

Review 95:Cleaning the apartment on exit a slight inconvenience, but wasn't too stressful. Area has been impacted by the flash floods in June 2013, yet retain most of their famous charm.

Review 96:Tidy, apartment style facilities which are well suited for extended stays. Location is perfect if you have a car and are taking in a mixture of locations on the same trip (e.g. Gavarnie, Tourmalet, Pic du Midi etc).

Review 97:chalets were somewhat smaller than advertised, also the advwertised free wifi in reception area was very limited and I was unable to conenct on numerous occassions. Also complex could do with a larger swimming pool, Sauna & jacuzzi were not working either..

Review 98:Apartments were very central and perfectly situated in order to access the mountains. Luz is a vibrant town with plenty to offer!

Review 99:The corridors to reach the apartment were a bit soulless.

Review 100:Location was great. Apartment was well equiped and having a balcony to sit out with a view of the mountains was a bonus.

Review 101:poor quality apartment advertised wi fi never worked during our stay lack of adequate glassware dirty apartment/ambience dour stone hallways with no lighting at night/missing bulbs

Review 102:location

Review 103:Duplex appartment was ok for 4-6 persons but I would not advice to book it for 8 persons. Further some of the kitchen tools were completely aged or not present in the desired quantity.

Review 104:Good location, nice view on the mountains, nice and confortable appartement, perfect for a longer good price-quality stay for cyclists or backpackers.

Review 105:The appartment was announced as "3 rooms", which made us suppose there would be 3 bedrooms. Unfortunately there were only 2 bedrooms, and the 3rd room was the living room. Disappointment!

Review 106:We needed to do some laundry - the washer was 5 Euros and the dryer was 3!!

Review 107:The staff were super nice, the apartment was great, the view from our porch was beautiful, and the kitchen was well-stocked with dishes.

Review 108:Need to bring all suplies with you - toilet paper garbage bags, soap shampoo kitchen towel. must clean the apartment befor leaving. the pool is small and though there is a "hot tub" it isn't hot.

Review 109:nice place. easy to see the sites around gavernie. comfortable rooms.

Review 110:Little bit mean on some items, only one toilet roll, one bin bag and no soap supplied or any cleaning supplies, irritating but, hardly terminal! The one big fault was that the double bed was almost as big as the room it was in. One would have to climb over your partner to get out. Roughly 50 Cm at the bottom and the same on one side. I was there in cold weather and the second bedroom had no heating of its own, no problem for me but, a third person would be uncomfortable.

Review 111:The apartment although small was well equipped and comfortable and the double bedroom and sitting room had their own heaters. Location great and good view of the mountains from the apartment I was in. Staff very helpful and friendly and spoke English

Review 112:May perhaps not a good time to go as it was a bit quiet. Many of therestaurants were closed however those that were open were excellent. Theweather was also very good so be prepared with regardto clothing!

Review 113:Very comfortable and warm. Close to the village. Beautiful surroundings

Review 114:The wifi was only in the reception area which was inconvenient but we worked around it. I didn't realise I needed to provide my own cleaning materials but the staff lent me some dishwashing liquid which was very helpful. Supplies generally were minimal but sufficient.

Review 115:The rooms were warm and had all we needed. It was a short walk into the village and the views from the hotel were lovely of the mountains around. The sauna was great. I liked being able to cook for ourselves - saves a lot of money when traveling with a family.

Review 116:The opening hours of the pool and steam room were restricted. As a suggestion have more information, if possible, on local restaurents such as opening times and reservation numbers.

Review 117:The charming staff who were very welcoming and helpful throughout. Very good location within a short 5 min walk from the town centre. A short 20 min drive to the Luz Ardiden slopes and 10 - 15 drive to Bareges.

Review 118:Jacuzzi - not working still (re other reviews). Steam Room - not workingstill (re other reviews). Spa area has no proper changing facilities orlockers. The foot wash was empty. There was no pool attendant at all.The water in the pool was too cold unless you were a child changinground like mad. Don't choose if you are looking for a Spa to be amajor part of your stay.

Review 119:Staff were friendly and helpful. No queues.

Review 120:One must remember to bring a tea towel, washing-up liquid, bin bags and toilet paper.

Review 121:Spacious and comfortable. Very nice. Staff efficient and friendly.

Review 122:They really haven't thought out the layout of the leisure block with the pool and sauna properly. The block is away from the flats so people walk there across the car park in outdoor shoes. There is nowhere to store shoes near the entrance and away from the wet area, so the floor is covered with with clay from the car park. Not pleasant.

Review 123:Spacious, comfortable flat. Helpful, friendly staff at reception. Excellent location on the edge of town of the attractive town of Luz Saint Saveur, but only 5 minutes walk to the centre and only 15 minute drive to the skiing at Bareges/La Mongie.

Review 124:Two detergent tabs were provided for the dishwasher but there was no bath soap or ordinary detergent which made cleaning difficult. The earliest checkout was 8.30 which was a bit inconvenient as we were off to the ski fields for the day. Despite the claim of the resort, it is not 8.2 kilometres from Cauterets (at least the town of Cauterets), more like 25 and on a winding mountain road.

Review 125:The young lady ay the desk was extremely helpful despite being worked off her feet. The apartment was quite spacious for our family of 5 adults, four children and a baby. We had to ask for extra blankets

Review 126:Excellent location just out of the main town and very quiet and peaceful with great views of the mountains. Great to have good cooking facilities and very good provision of crockery, etc. Helpful staff with information about the area and organisation of transport, etc.

Review 127:No oven in the rooms. Only microwave and hob.

Review 128:Good location and great value for money. We were upgraded which was nice. Swimming pool was a bonus and was warm enough for the kids to swim in during october.

Review 129:Tiny bed (190x140cm at most) in a bedroom hardly larger than the uncomfortable bed itself. Building is nice on the outside, but pure concrete on the inside. The 3-room apartment felt very small but functional and lacked any atmosphere. Not a place you want to spend any time during the day or evening. More like a place where you only stay to sleep. The apartment was not really dirty, but it also did not feel clean.

Review 130:Reasonably equipped kitchen

Review 131:The location was excellent only 0.5km from Luz which is a charming town with all necesary ameneties and a lively Monday market. The views of the mountains were superb and the self contained apartment was very clean, roomy and had all the necessary cooking equipment and utensils. I would definitely consider returning to Val de Rolande

Review 132:They expect you to clean your room at checkout, but do not providecleaning supplies. Lack of enforcement of nonsmoking policy (peoplesmoke on balconies and the smell filled our room). Prepare to be wokenup early by excited roosters. No stand-up shower. Vent in bathroom didnot work. Wifi only in main reception and worked sporadically. Stafffriendly but lackadaisical response to concerns.

Review 133:Good value for money. Kitchenette was useful.

Review 134:noisy everywhere, tiny pool overcrowded, whereas they describe themselves as a spa hotel, having to strip the beds and throw the rubbish by oneself for such a high price

Review 135:views from bedroom windows size of the apt. the large table in the room as well as in the balcony.

Review 136:Very small apartment, you have to clean it yourself before leaving, stuff doesn't know English at all

Review 137:Nice small swimming pool for small kids, location

Review 138:The only think I didn't like was finding someone had used the changingroom for the swimming pool/sauna as a toilet!

Review 139:Pretty much everything. We were staying to watch the Tour de France andthis provided everything we needed
