Reviews for Craven Garth Cottages
Review 1:Location although quite misty and rainy the view would be lovely in the spring /summer. The cottage was comfy and spotless, I would even love to live in one my self.
Review 2:The location and property were fantastic. Instructions provided by the owners made finding the cottage really easy. Loved the little personal plaque outside welcoming us on arrival. Cottage warm and spotless.
Review 3:We requested a late check in and late check out which wasn't sent to the cottage even tho we received a confirmation email...
Review 4:Lovely cottage - lovely staff/owners to greet you x
Review 5:Fantastic! Lovely setting and excellent self-catering facilities. It was great having a DVD player as this is a remote setting. We can't wait to return and stay longer!
Review 6:No signal, obviously can not be helped but be aware. Wifi not brilliant but worked in certain areas of cottages.
Review 7:We travelled with friends to attend a wedding over the bank holiday weekend. Ena was very helpful and accommodating, as we were a large group we asked if we could have a bbq one evening which was provided and we had a lovely evening in the picnic area. We also had a lovely day Sunday, the area provided some lovely walks which we ended up in the local village for a wonderful pub lunch before heading back.
Review 8:Shower was very unpredictable but as it runs from local spring water, not much you can do!
Review 9:Very nice cottage in a lovely location. Very friendly and helpful owner.
Review 10:The area was wonderfull. Well located but a little far from next city. We have been wery well welcomed and the owner was pretty kind, helpfull, very nice. Everything was clean, the place was flowery, it was pretty quiet. We have had a nice stay.
Review 11:The shower didn't work properly & also a lack of hot water.
Review 12:Lovely cottage with beautiful views. Very well presented. A bottle of wine as a welcome gift a lovely thought.
Review 13:Too expensive for self catering as the accommodation was cramped without views of the countryside. No garden allocated to cottage. Pets not allowed in bedroom not mentioned in initial booking request.
Review 14:The bed was new and comfortable. The internet was excellent.
Review 15:I can imagine it would be tricky to access in icy weather (although it would be a stunning location in the snow!)
Review 16:Beautiful location, friendly staff, well kept house...loved it!
Review 17:Showers not consistent.
Review 18:Lovely very clean & comfortable quaint cottages set out as a small village street with farm at the end. Beautiful location & Yorkshire moors views Excellent self catering facilities Friendly and helpful owner
Review 19:Shower not great & sofa would be nice rather than 2 chairs. But minor things.
Review 20:Beautiful location & gorgeous little cottage. Lovely welcoming family. Would definitely recommend. Total relaxation!
Review 21:Its not a dislike just food for thought There are no shops near by a pint of milk would have been good to have on arrival to make a brew, a curtain at the door would have been good and a shower. Apart from that it was very clean and homely and would recommend it.
Review 22:The location was spot on and so quiet and relaxing
Review 23:nothing to dislike
Review 24:Beautiful location with a brilliant 8 mile walk along the dismantled railway, so easy to walk. Dogs loved it also. Accommodation was perfect.
Review 25:size of bedroom was too small and wet room wasnt a success - found it difficult to control temperature of water from shower, it went from warm to very hot without warning. Also once the room was wet, even after using mop provided, everything remained too wet to make use of bathroom comfortable.
Review 26:Ena was very friendly and helpful.
Review 27:Tip - print directions off and do not rely on sat nav as there is no signal for miles Oh, and the shower upstairs didn't work but the shower in the bath downstairs was fab. Just make sure you warm the water up first.
Review 28:The cottage and location was lovely, the bed extremely comfortable. Views beautiful.
Review 29:Coming home! Definitely going back again when we can
Review 30:The cottage was perfect for what we wanted, furnishings and finish were superb! Has everything we needed! Everyone was friendly and helpful ! Can't wait to come back! Thank you Ena and Trevor
Review 31:Set in a beautiful location, very easy to find , the cottages were quaint, well equipped, comfy and very clean. Everything you needed for a lovely stay.
Review 32:Possibly the most disappointing wet room / bathroom we have used. The shower really was depressing. On our last morning we couldn't be bothered standing under the 'dribble' that came out of the shower head. We waited to get home. Had to tighten up the toilet pan too. Slipped about quite a bit. Having shower, toilet and basin was a bit of a messy experience. Wet socks and not squeegee.
Review 33:Although the room was small it served its purpose. I liked the electric fire. Kitchen was good for 2 people. It was no thrills but served its purpose. The location and farm was perfect.
Review 34:The shower was pretty bad, either a dribble or scalding hot (quite dangerous really). The amazing views were limited due to the two blown windows on the cottage. With the windows being small anyway it was a shame as we couldn't appreciate the view through the condensation. We felt the images online were slightly misleading about the outdoor seating area available at our property.
Review 35:The owners were very friendly, and hospitable. The wifi was great, especially as there wasn't a mobile phone signal. There were two fields where we could let the dog off for a run.
Review 36:We didn't like the fact that our weekend flew by and we had to go home.
Review 37:We loved the scenery, the lovely cost cottage, the wildlife and peaceful tranquillity. Will definitely come back and for longer next time.
Review 38:Very happy to see a welcome bottle of wine in kitchen, sorry it was not very good stuff, maybe milk would have been better option at the same cost. Ah ah.
Review 39:Pleased we could find a self catering 2 bed cottage on a one night basis in lovely location. Very cosy with good sized tv, important when not close to local amenities (on foot).
Review 40:Basic amenities like soap was missing. Fortunately, we had some. The windows were letting a lot of cold air through and the heating wasn't able to keep up. Fortunately there was a wood fire burner which we had to light nice and early to get some warmth.
Review 41:The cottage was nice and cosy. It was comfortable.
Review 42:The shower left a lot to be desired - had to use a cup to wash my (short) hair!!
Review 43:A wonderful spot to spend time with son and new daughter in law when we visited from overseas
Review 44:No mobile signals & no facilities nearby. You have to get them from downtown but views even while driving are amazing.
Review 45:Kids played in the farms all day long, Nice weather, scenes, almost everything.
Review 46:Could do with more heating, but its fine.
Review 47:The little WiFi helped us lots with our phones not getting any signals. Given logs for real fire!!! Love it lots. Amazing night star gazing! Amazing morning scenary to wake up to.
Review 48:Log burning fire very little heat, no mobile signal, no wifi signal, little hot water, shower no hot water in a morning, quite remote location nearest pub doesn't take dogs, living area small
Review 49:Nice 2 bed cottage friendly owner
Review 50:We stayed in a different cottage this time, which was just as outstanding as the previous one. Excellent facilities, location and people. The only downside was it was just another short weekend there for us! We have now booked a week away which will be our third visit and intend to book many more in 2015!
Review 51:Nothing specific to dislike; very much depends on personal preference. Bed was a bit hard for my 90 year old mother, we changed the lounge layout so the tv could be seen, condensation in windows marred the views - but this is nitpicking!
Review 52:Beautiful location and easy to get to surrounding attractions on roads over the moors. Boothferry Cottage is quite compact but has all the things you need and is clean and well kept. Parking, wi-fi and log burner all appreciated! The owners were very friendly and approachable.
Review 53:Although not a cold weekend night storage heaters don't offer flexible heating if needed Only enough hot water for one bath
Review 54:wood burning stove very well equipped kitchen secluded location views from cottage over moor welcome on arrival & bottle of wine bath and separate electric shower which was lovely and hot fluffy towels location means no/limited phone signal, wifi speed good although not always able to connect (be prepared to be low-tech)
Review 55:roads leading to cottage very narrow and hilly wouldn't like to drive on these in the frost and snow
Review 56:beautifull views, very clean accomodation, very quiet and peacefull, lovely walks.
Review 57:The only downside was driving on steep, windy roads.
Review 58:The location was very rural. The cottage was cosy with a log burner. The views were very scenic. So relaxing. A great base for a short break. Go stay.
Review 59:Unfortunately the Wi-fi was intermittent but that's due to the remote area I believe. No sound insulation between the cottages - I wouldn't recommend it for noisy lovers. The kitchen knives were blunt - nearly sliced off my finger when it slipped!
Review 60:We loved the cottage and its location. The owner, Ena, is a very friendly lady and we were so happy we could take the dog. It was immaculately clean and very homely. We will be visiting again in the future.
Review 61:Nothing, everything was perfect for a real break.
Review 62:Comfortable, spacious cottage. Beautiful surroundings. Interesting sightseeing within reach. 'Home kitchen' food delivered to the house was very enjoyable. Lady manager was helpful and friendly without ever being intrusive.
Review 63:Not enough equipment in the kitchen. shower poor.ran too hot and if you turned it down hardly any water came out. Couldn't wait to get home and have a decent shower.
Review 64:Owner very pleasant .peaceful surroundings.
Review 65:Bathroom (wet room with shower and toilet) not very comfortable (low water pressure and room becomes wet every shower, which is not good as toilet is also located in the same room (shower basin would solve this).
Review 66:Great location close to the Moors located on a farm. Nice cottage, comfortable bed. Efficient check-in/check-out without any hassle. Great wifi connection and number of TV channels.
Review 67:We received a warm welcome on arrival and were shown to our cottage, this proved over our stay to be very comfortable. The log burner was lovely to finish an evening with. The outlook is breathtaking! I would recommend craven garth as an excellent base for exploring North Yorkshire , the children 16, 13 and 10 also had a fantastic time! Also being able to have groceries delivered by well known supermarkets was a great help too.
Review 68:We enjoyed 3 nights at the Craven Garth Cottages, the owner Ena is absolutely lovely and so very welcoming. The cottages are a little remote, but I guess that is the whole point. The scenery and walks are stunning as you would expect. The cottage itself really was 'home from home'. We had two double bedrooms, two bathrooms, a dining room and kitchen/lounge. Everything was modern and clean and extremely well equipped (I didn't expect a washing machine)! The WiFi connection was poor, but then what do you expect in the middle of the Yorkshire Moors. I would recommend the cottage to anyone without hesitation and certainly will be returning again in the future.
Review 69:The wifi was rather unreliable
Review 70:Ena, the owner, was welcoming and helpful, but completely unobtrusive. She supplied us with some scrumptious fresh milk for our teas&coffees and recommended a delightful cafe for breakfast. The location is pretty amazing, very panormaic and we had the fortune of witnessing one of the most impressive, full-semicircle rainbows we'd ever seen, and some spectacular sunsets with an idyllic countryside background. You can walk to a farm close by to buy fresh eggs and milk. Everyone is friendly and you immediately feel at home in the village. We will probably go back!
Review 71:Leaving
Review 72:Views were amazing Situation of Craven Garth Fantastic Off the beaten track Good base point for travelling about the area Walking Pet friendly
Review 73:No space for a shower but bath should have had a shower head.
Review 74:Lovely owner. Location lovely. Cottage very nice. Comfy bed. Furniture a bit dated but it did not matter.
Review 75:We loved the friendliness of the owners and the helpful manner in which they dealt with our booking and stay. I would definitely recommend Craven Garth Cottages to anyone wanting to stay around that area. Thanks a lot Ena and hope to see you again.
Review 76:The location was great, in a beautiful peaceful valley. No traffic noise. Ena was very accommodating yet not intrusive. The cottage is very well laid out and equipped.
Review 77:Cant think of anything.
Review 78:The peace and quiet (don't come here if you like hustle and bustle). The owners are very friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The cottages have everything you need for a relaxing break. This was our second visit and most certainly wont be our last!
Review 79:There was a mix-up with bookings, meaning we had to move cottages after one night. However the owner did extremely well to minimise the hassle, and we only moved to the next door cottage, so they did abut as well as they could in the circumstances. So you can be confident if something goes wrong they'll do their best for you.
Review 80:Very friendly, helpful owner lives almost next door to cottage - giving confidence if things go wrong! Fantastic walk above the cottage past old mine works is particularly recommended.
Review 81:I had trouble finding it, a sign at the top of the street positioned where three other places along the same street have put signs would be very helpful. However being near a small village is a plus as everyone knows where everything is so you can ask someone if you're lost.
Review 82:The location was great with a real Yorkshire feel, its close to the lovely Rosedale Abbey Village where I thoroughly recommend the Coach and Horses pub for dinner. The cottage was spot on with everything you need for a nice stay. My cottage had a bedroom in the loft from here I could hear owls at night which added to the country feel. Ena is a lovely host and couldn't do enough for us. In short we loved it.
Review 83:Did not like that we did not have any private outside space like the one on the photos. It might have been written somewhere, but I did not see it and was slightly disappointed initially. Then it started raining and got windy, and it did not matter :)
Review 84:The location, the cottage, the view from the window, and the free bottle of wine.
Review 85:The heating is not enough on winter, and there is not enough hot water.
Review 86:The location is nice and the house is good too.
Review 87:the facilities where lovely in an amazing setting. Welcome was lovely and warm - we cant wait to go back and for longer :)
Review 88:It was brilliant

Review 93:Lovely cottage in a great location.
Review 94:No WiFi

Review 101:Lack of phone signal and some of our party had difficulty finding it.
Review 102:The hosts and rural location.
Review 103:Poor value for money. £130 per night. Musty smell to cottage. Very basic.
Review 104:Excellent view. Bottle of complimentary wine.

Review 117:The shower was useless but my only gripe.
Review 118:The surroundings and the cottage itself are perfect
