Reviews for The Morecambe Bay Hotel

Review 1:whole place needs a good clean --walls and doors shabby --generally not very good --Our room en-suite was so small and the shower was dirty the cabinet had rust on the door mirrors--and the toilet seat was loose and badly fitting

Review 2:Staff were helpful---

Review 3:Enjoyed our stay and felt right at home, the owners were more than happy to make our stay as comfortable and assist us where possible, would definitely recommend

Review 4:we had an annoying burring noise from I assume were chillers, so bad I had to buy earplugs when I drew attention to the staff they could not hear it my husbands hard of hearing and he picked up on the noise

Review 5:lovely relaxing front lounge to sit in.

Review 6:The only thing I disliked was the noisy lift

Review 7:Absolutely fantastic place facilities top class and manager couldn't do enough for us.... will definitely be going there again

Review 8:the weather

Review 9:Amazing! Hotel so convenient, over looking the sea. Lovely drinks from the bar. Close to bars and restaurants. Staff were so helpful a special thank you to the manager who was warm and friendly. Room was beautiful and bed really comfortable. Looking forward to our next stay.

Review 10:On our arrival, I stood in reception ringing a bell for ten minutes, as there was no one about, I ended up having to ring the hotel to let someone know I was in reception, we were shown 3 rooms, all as bad as each other, the room we settled on was a sea view, which was nice, there was damp everywhere, the kettle did not work, the curtains were ripped, there was sand everywhere, clearly not been hoovered for weeks, the bed was the old Spring mattress, so it creaked and groaned every time you moved, the shower had bits missing off it, you didn't know which was hot or cold, very poor, would never stay there again,

Review 11:What can I say, the only thing was the sea view,

Review 12:room was clean and comfortable with sea view, staff were very helpful as arrived early, and was given entry to my room, breakfast was served by a lovely bubbly pleasant young lady, all in all would recommend anyone to stay here.

Review 13:We had a very pleasent stay at the Morcombe Bay hotel, however myself and my partner were both kept awake half the night as the staff were having a party other than that our stay was enjoyable.

Review 14:Tv mount on wall had come out and tv was therefore at an angle. Was advised by owners that staff had not reported it. Fixed next day Had sea view but also had powerful spot light shinning onto hotel name which was outside window therefore room was light even in dark.

Review 15:Very welcoming. Food good and room also good with excellent shower. Would be good if they supplied toiletries I.e shower gel etc. Mentioned it and was given some.New owners had only been in 6 weeks so still sorting things out.

Review 16:Didn't think much of the hotel. wasn't made to feel very welcome, Worst shower I have ever had, no soap either. Towel was just big enough to wrap around my leg!! Very dissapointed

Review 17:I stopped at this hotel on your rating of 8.2. Which is nonsense. You ceriously need to view this. Not even had soap to wash with. My broom cuberd is bigger then the room I stopped in. I will think twice before booking with booking.com agin.

Review 18:Nothing very poor.

Review 19:Hotel not as described on website, photos do not give accurate reflection. Small pokey room ground floor rear of hotel overlooking cramped car park and skip. There were hairs on the duvet. Fortunately we went after a recent redecoration so at least we had clean walls and carpet. We had pre-paid for breakfast - poor buffet selection , cutlery, crockery and tablecloths not clean. I had pre-ordered vegetarian breakfast and was served with PORK - AAAAARGH. I told the waitress but to be honest just wanted to leave the dump asap so just made do with a slice of cold toast. Also, each time we had to enter and leave the hotel we had to walk through a fug of smoke where people were sitting. Horrible.

Review 20:Room very small, not cleaned very well. Bathroom dirty and in need of refurbishment, shower mouldy. Locked out of Hotel on first night everyone had gone to bed at 11pm. Lift broke down.

Review 21:Breakfast ok Bar useful Good views I had booked this Hotel as I believed it had been refurbished, for my elderley parents who can't climb stairs. I was embarrased and ashamed to have put them in such a place.

Review 22:First time visiting Morecambe. We chose this hotel as it was close to the center and railway station. Room was clean, and bed and mattress brand new. Young Gent, John helped with luggage, and provided plenty of local information. Met Steven the owner who was very friendly and carried drinks outside so we could enjoy the sunshine. We ate out, so can not review the restaurant. We look forward to visiting the hotel again.

Review 23:more of a selection of snacks at the bar

Review 24:Excellent friendly staff, single room was good size and sea view room was worth the extra £10. I arrived just before 3pm and they allowed me to check in.

Review 25:Staff weren't overly friendly, breakfast was hit and miss-not offered options, no eggs or sausage for full English on last day!! No decent beer in bar!

Review 26:Bed was nice, endless tea and coffee for room when asked

Review 27:1. We couldn't find where to check-in 2. We booked for 2 adults, 2 children yet got a room with 1 double and 1 single. 3. Cleanliness was a major issue. 4. Loud party til late at night 5. Obviously 2 rooms knocked into one due to wires out of walls etc yet still cramped, yet due to be a family room 6. Only one member of staff doing absolutely everything. 7. Tiny tv - no way could be seen from bed even if we did have a remote control, could not find one.

Review 28:The General Manager, Arlene was extremely helpful and the ONLY member of staff we saw the entire time.

Review 29:The fixtures and fittings were shabby The skirting boards were grubby The curtains were paper thin and hanging below the pelmet The shower was barely adequate

Review 30:The location The view

Review 31:Room wasn't clean. Dried rice in the carpet, empty plastic bottle complete with cigarette butts and empty crisp packets by the side of the bed. Lots of hair in the shower. The thick plastic cover on the bed.

Review 32:Dining room obviously been refurbished.

Review 33:Not much , book 3 family rooms , drove 1 1/2 hours to be told only got 1 room for you , and tried to give us the basement were the maintenance man slept. All plugs in room were in stupid places, head height in the middle of the walls. Toilet had marks all over. The beds weren't made for us, the bedding was left outside door on floor to make ourselves.

Review 34:Leaving

Review 35:ask for single beds my wife had just had open heart surgery we got a double room was so small i complained got moved went to draw the curtains the rail fell on the floor breakfast was a disaster no bread for toast next day no eggs tables not set properly no butter and jam no salt no sauces

Review 36:not a lot

Review 37:No meeting and greeting. Room wasn't cleaned properly from previous guests. No communication regarding breakfast times and room vacation or general facilities.

Review 38:Poor breakfast service and quality. Cleanliness in bedroom ( coffe cup not washed, beaker in bathroom filthy, extractor fan not cleaned) No wi fi in bedroom.

Review 39:Location, free parking, comfy bed and friendly receptionist.

Review 40:The sanitary bin had not been emptied and was very full. The toilet did not flush. No hand soap. Staff under our window were very vocal at 7am with some unwanted language being used. Room very small but did not bother us as we were out most of the time. Staff were not very professional in the way they welcome It set the standard for the hotel Could do with some training from Premier Inn

Review 41:Not much

Review 42:The hotel staff were clueless. The hotel smelt of stale grease and smoke. The room was generally clean but dated. During the night we had water dripping through the ceiling and on check out were guaranteed a refund that we have still not yet received. The bed were too springy and quite incomfortable. The sea view was the great plus but we didn't spend much time in the hotel to appreciate it. If the room were cheaper then it wouldn't have been so bad. Very over priced.

Review 43:everything Over the Years booked many Hotels with Booking.com always satisfied untill now. Booking.com should investigate how previous reviewers in some instances scored this Place 10. I booked this Hotel based on reviews which did not reflect this Hotel, therefore I feel cheated out of my money.

Review 44:leaving

Review 45:I stayed at the Morecambe bay hotel for one night. I arrived by train and walked to the hotel which is <5 minutes walk away. Check in was very quick and the young lady behind reception was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the local area. The room was a decent size for a single room, the bed was very comfy and the room was spotless. All in all a great night. Thanks

Review 46:room was small . there was a spider at side of bed , sink had not been cleaned . there was a damp smell in the room , remote did not work for tv

Review 47:checking out

Review 48:The shower had mould round it, the toilet seat had brown staining marks round edge, one of the bedside lights could not reach the socket, tear in bed sheet, door to toilet/shower sticking and having to pull hard to open it, stain on carpet, fire exits blocked by paint pots/brushes and fire stairs partly blocked by large plant pot, toilet very noisy when flushing during night, heavy footsteps from room above.

Review 49:The hotel was a good base for the Lake District and Blackpool.

Review 50:Beds too soft when turning over you would almost fall out of it ...used tena lady in the bathroom bin which smelled pretty bad ...informed staff he removed it and that was it no sorry ...I wouldn't stay again

Review 51:Location was great !

Review 52:Hotel was in a state of refurbishment (and we are sure it will look lovely when completed) therefore things were somewhat shambolic! Room not as clean as could have been but bed linen and towels were acceptable.

Review 53:Nicely placed for Isle of Man ferry. Nice seating area at front of hotel. Staff pleasant and breakfast was adequate. Exceptionally good rate for B&B.

Review 54:Nothing we didnt like !

Review 55:We booked this hotel at the last minute for an overnight stay. And arrived around 10pm We where greeted by the Manager a very chirpy Scottish Chap who was very helpful in directing us to the local eateries after which we enjoyed a glass of wine from the Hotel Bar... we where allowed to park our motorbikes out of the way and the two lads that organised that where extremely helpful. We found all the staff very pleasant and helpful with regard to local knowledge. Free wifi extended to the rooms The hotel is undergoing refurb and I have no doubt that once finished will look amazing ...Breakfast was delicious for just £5 !!! We will be returning again at the end of August for another stay, Yes there parts of the hotel that still need doing up but its under new management and a work in progress so I would def recommend giving this Hotel the chance it deserves as from what we could see the staff are putting there heart and soul into making this work ...Good luck guys see you again soon ! Pete & Sharon

Review 56:At the end of July I stayed in a standard single room which spotless and very comfortable. I had a couple of drinks in the recently renovated lounge, all served by the manager. The hotel was clean, quiet and all staff where very friendly. Happily recommend to friends and family.

Review 57:The hotel is in a good location on the sea front. The room we stayed in (No.6) was very clean on arrival and was kept well serviced during our stay. Apparently the hotel had been closed for 3 years and had recently been re-opened, sadly the new owners had found a lot of problems with the building and were in the middle of a major rebuild, however, this did not cause any major problems for us or the rest of the guests and the service from the friendly staff was excellent. Once all the rebuilding and redecorating has been completed this is going to be a really good hotel and very reasonably priced.

Review 58:Poor standard of inish, it is going through refurbishment, but this has been ongoing for 3 months and painting over cracks is not refurbishment

Review 59:Location is obviously very good, also the breakfast is good

Review 60:The inadequate parking. Lack of blackout blinds/curtains. Our room was illuminated all in by a light in a stockroom opposite, so we had very little sleep.

Review 61:The location, right on the sea front

Review 62:When we arrived major work was being carried out inside not leaving a good impression. The rooms needed a good vacuum and shower toilet area needed a good clean.Other things needed attention.Curtain rail dropped down etc.

Review 63:The staff were friendly and helpful. As the room that i booked was not available we were offered alternative rooms.

Review 64:Paid extra for Sea View but room really small and although bed was clean the rest of it obviously hadn't been cleaned

Review 65:Staff quite helpful and the breakfast was good

Review 66:Hotel was being done up after being closed for a number of years as I say room was clean and bed comfortouble just room in need of up dating had to hold shower hose as would not stay up new toilet was fitted and half the flooring missing around it

Review 67:The hotel is situated in a great location lady that treated us was lovely couldn't do enough we arrived early just wanted to park car she said our room was ready so that was lovely breakfast was lovely lots to chose from again same lady think she was in charge was lovely friendly nothing to much trouble

Review 68:Room in poor condition. Curtains were off their hooks and dangling; bedside lamps didn't work; bathroom hadn't been cleaned after someone had fixed a towel rail and cement dust still in a pile underneath it.Builders / decorators were in hotel which added to general untidiness of public areas eg a vacuum cleaner in reception, tools and piles of 'things' around

Review 69:Breakfast was excellent

Review 70:check in was dire young girl yawning while chatting on the phone to her mate ... Health and safety was a joke.... Tripped on laundry coming out of the lift, no signage of where to go in case of a fire ..... On asking told the alarm works ! More laundry and items to fall over left lying around the next day While room was nice the TV in the window with the kettle that doesn't reach the socket are next to each other , curtains were hard to close and hanging in parts also had damp spots. Shower cubical was grim refurbishment hadn't reached that bit. No thanks safe trip or anything on leaving . No information about food etc. no wifi .... No free parking!! Would I return hell no Felt like a unwelcome visitor, and was concerned for my safety.... Only info was on Saturday evening We have a private party book for tonight ! So we stayed in our room !

Review 71:The view was amazing Room wasn't two bad Serviced daily, The lounge area is quite nice.

Review 72:Room very tired, but when renovations are done it will be very good.

Review 73:Location excellent. Comfy sofas in hotel lounge overlooking Morecambe bay. Staff very welcoming and breakfast excellent with vegetarian options. Would definitely stay there again.

Review 74:There were no meals available in the evening. Breakfast took along time to serve, very disorganised and no porridge available on second day. Double Room was too small for all furniture and people.

Review 75:One member of staff was pleasant and tried to be helpful

Review 76:Staff having an argument in front of us. Left key so room could be cleaned, as advised by staff. Upon return there were no staff around to give us our key, had to ring night bell and then wait 30mins for someone to come, and then our room had not been cleaned wifi was a joke, had a range of about 2 meters from the bar. Couldn't get evening meal for 3 days as for some reason the chef quit.

Review 77:Location is great

Review 78:the window from the room looked at a brick wall. the window from the bathroom look straight into another room. the bed was not comfortable for me. and the room was small.

Review 79:dinner in the pub along the road.

Review 80:wish i could have stayed for breakfast as it looked really good. Maybe next time.

Review 81:Friendly staff, Reasonable Bar Prices and Clean Rooms. I paid a little extra for a sea view room which was well worth it.

Review 82:Only fault was no black out curtains in bed room so was light at 530 in morning but wasn't a problem

Review 83:Good location on central promenade breakfast was excellent friendly staff would definitely stay agin

Review 84:Hotel was in a state of flux due to re-decoration and renovation. Probably not the best of time to review the hotel.

Review 85:Beach front hotel with access to everything within walking distance

Review 86:The back entrance needs cleaning up of rubbish blown from a skip. No notice about having to order breakfast so had to do without.

Review 87:Its location and although the hotel is being renovated it felt warm and comfortable.

Review 88:The fact the en suite door didn't even shut The plug socket for kettle was not near kettle Didn't have my booking even though booked over a week before

Review 89:Bed

Review 90:Shower room in need of upgrade, very slow lift, tired public areas.

Review 91:Staff we're pleasant, room recently decorated, but spoilt by large damp patch on wall, sea view spectacular.

Review 92:There were no bad experiences but would recommend tidying up the rear entrance as it gives an unwarranted bad first impression.

Review 93:Excellent service, food at breakfast and at night was fantasti,c. The staff are really helpful and friendly, they are working hard in this new venture and they deserve to do very well.

Review 94:The hotel is ideally situated on the sea front, the staff were friendly & nothing was too much trouble, there is some free parking at the rear, but plenty of parking opposite.

Review 95:The room was very small, we couldn't open the bathroom door very far as the bed was in the way. The room hadn't been hoovered as there were crumbs on the floor. The toilet was dirty with dried urine behind the seat. I had to ask for toilet paper, there was none in the bathroom when we arrived. The room had obviously been repainted recently but to a very poor standered with paint splattered on the bathroom floor, on plugs and on mirrors. Bathroom was stuffy and very badly grouted. The sink had a plastic shelving unit behind it which I haven't seen since the 80's. The TV was in the corner to the right of the bed above where our heads where so was impossible to watch lying in bed. Worst room I've stayed in.

Review 96:Good location, breakfast well cooked. owner gave us a cream egg as it was easter, which was A nice gesture.

Review 97:Uncleanliness, disorganized staff, rooms in serious need of updating, shattered towel rail, broken bathroom plastic cup, thick dust on lamp shade, lamps with no sockets available, stained mattresses, & the list goes on......

Review 98:Location

Review 99:Steps into the front of the hotel. It's flat via the rear car park. The mattress was soft, not good with a bad back!

Review 100:The staff were helpful and soon sorted out a couple of minor problems. The food was great - the breakfast hot and the evening meal was great.

Review 101:Parking, searching for someone as there is no reception. size of window in the room and no curtain or blinds in the en suite, Couldnt get correct temperature and should anyone flush the toilet it would run cold and very small.

Review 102:The staff and breakfast. Improvements are being made.

Review 103:The staff were very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was very goo and freshly cooked. Will certainly re-book for our next visit to Morecambe.

Review 104:Expensive for what it is. It's being refurbished but still feels dated and a little shabby. Parking isn't great. Overall, needs more work, we feel it was over priced.

Review 105:Breakfast. Good, freshly cooked.

Review 106:We had booked 2 rooms and breakfast, when we arrived had only booked us one room without breakfast. Tap dripping in bathroom. Unable to get ITV on television in bedroom.

Review 107:Location of hotel on sea front

Review 108:The lift was a bit slow, the shower not very powerful and the kettle was 'quaint'! But not enough to put us off going again.

Review 109:The staff were friendly & helpful, breakfast excellent and views from the window over the bay were first class.

Review 110:There was nothing to complain about.Small car park behind hotel but that is not hotels fault, ample parking elsewhere.

Review 111:Central location, minutes from pubs and restaurants. Comfortable rooms and beds with flat screen TV.

Review 112:On arrival the manager was very welcoming. The room was very spacious, clean and the bed was very comfortable. The entrance is nicely furnished and there is plenty of parking out front and in the back. There was a coach party there, but i didn't have to wait long for anything. The breakfast was nice and excellent value. All this made for a very pleasant stay, and I would recommend it to most people on a normal budget.

Review 113:Being single, the room allocated was more than I needed, clean, flat screen tv, plenty of hanging space, tea/coffee facility and a toilet and shower room. Although I did not have a sea view the beach was just across the road from the main entrance. I found all staff to be most helpful at all times. The food was hot, served quickly and if you decided to change your mind at it was catered for without a fuss. What more do you need. The bar prices were in line with others in the area. The hotel is situated about 5 mins flat walk to town with shops and cafes on route. All in all it was an enjoyable stay at the morecambe bay hotel. Will stay again.

Review 114:Oh god where to begin. As soon as we walked in it was like something was wrong. The rooms definitely did not looks like the ones advertised on the websire. The furniture was rickety and the chest of drawers was broken. So at one point on day 2 of our 3 day stay, a water bottle went behind the bed. We moved the bed to retrieve it and found dirty spoons, half chewed sweets, mouldy malteasers and other dirt. We made the decision that this was not going to ruin our holiday, so we didn't say anything. We ended up using it as a base rather than actually spending time together in the hotel. On the morning of checking out, about 6 am, my other half was trying to sort out the sheet because the bed had become really uncomfortable in the night. He moved the sheet and found an under sheet with blood and other bodily fluids all over it. These definitely were not ours! Needless to say we did not go back to bed and instead started packing. We left at 9 am and on the way out I informed the lady who took our key. I explained that our taxi was waiting so I could not go into much detail as we had to go. The lady apologised. We left, and since then I've had an email conversation with the manager that has now gone on since we left on the 5th January. I told him what had gone on, he "investigated" and eventually came back and said I could have compensation. I have heard nothing since. I have received nothing since. This hotel is terrible and the manager does not seem to want to help solve problems. Do not go there.

Review 115:I liked that this hotel was on the prom. That is it.

Review 116:Room was basic. No reception area. No menus for breakfast. No fruit or yoghurt. Breakfast service a bit haphazard.

Review 117:The hotel is clean and newly decorated, clean comfortable beds work in progress to improve facilities. Good location on sea front. good full English breakfast

Review 118:Nothing really. The en suite showerroom could have benefited from a refurb, but it was clean. Which is all that really matters.

Review 119:Centrally located accommodation at a sensible price.

Review 120:Cheap kettle in room (no cut-off switch) Floodlights shining in the window all night Tiny shower cubicle

Review 121:Central location On the front Helpful staff & manager Breakfast

Review 122:The weather!

Review 123:I loved the location of this hotel directly on the sea front and just a short walk from the shops. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The view from the lounge was unbelievable. I will be staying here again in the summer. The Christmas decorations were the best id seen in a hotel. My room was comfortable and great value especially for the location.

Review 124:Lack of bath available for double rooms.

Review 125:New bed with comfortable mattress in fresh room. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Location on seafront is ideal. Bar prices very reasonable.

Review 126:We were charged £5 more than our booking.Room smelled very strongly of paint.

Review 127:The room was good value for money, nicely and newly redecorated.Comfy beds.Great breakfast, good choice.Nice pleasant staff.

Review 128:currently don`t offer a wake up service

Review 129:Got a last minute bargain on this Hotel didnt expect much for the price but pleasantly surprised, Hotel had just been renovated in my room everything was brand new,I would reccomend the Breakfast too it was very good definately worth having! (thou not cheap)

Review 130:Made very welcome.breakfast superb. Staff atentive and friendly. Superb value for money, and I can recommend the hotel. Wishing the new owners all the best for the future had no

Review 131:disorganised mess of hotel, refurb urgently needed, generally run down unclean room, carpet not cleaned TV not working recently repainted door wouldn't lock outside spotlights on all night bathroom lights not working

Review 132:breakfast

Review 133:On arrival I was met by Dan the manager who was very friendly and went out of his way to give me a map and directions. Dan showed me to my room which was spotless, the beds were comfortable and looked brand new. Evening Meal and Breakfast both excellent and good value. I had a lovely stay and would highly recommend this hotel.
