Reviews for Stirling Court Hotel
Review 1:It was difficult to find as the sat nav went haywire after we arrived on the university campus. The bar and restaurant would not serve any food after 10pm and we did not arrive till 9.30.
Review 2:It was a convenient stop en route to Inverness. There was a bar and a restaurant . The breakfast was very good. The staff were friendly.
Review 3:Swimming pool not in hotel, 5 minute walk to it. Double bed in room is small.
Review 4:Hotel on site of Stirling university. Within walking distance to bridge of Allan. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast good and included in price. Wide selection of food. Swimming pool not in hotel but is on university campus. Not open to public all the time. Room comfortable, it's a smaller double bed. Fine for travelling solo.
Review 5:Cooked breakfast was late which did effect our travel connection later in the journey.
Review 6:The room was excellent compared to market competitors I've used before. The front of house staff were very welcoming and were helpful and friendly.
Review 7:The bedlinen did not seem clean. There were stains on the duvet cover, and it did not feel clean either. I felt uncomfortable sleeping in that bed. The room was tired and the TV did not work - anyway it was tiny, tinier than a laptop screen. The bathroom was very damp. From our room we could hear the guests in other rooms or bathrooms. Overall the hotel looks like a tired hotel from the 1980s and nothing seems to have changed since. The breakfast was not good despite the large choice of food.
Review 8:We could use the swimming pool of the university nearby for free, which is a very good swimming pool to exercise (not to relax as there are many people there and no hot tub / sauna, etc).
Review 9:Bedside table on only one side of the double bed. Buffet breakfast arrangement inevitably means that some items have been standing for a while.
Review 10:Comfortable, spacious double room. Good shower over bath. Delicious food in the bar in the evening. Wide range of choices at breakfast. Helpful, friendly and efficient staff.
Review 11:Very convenient location for us as a stop off on the way further North in Scotland. Particularly chose it due to available swimming and gym facilities at the university. Weren't disappointed. facilities excellent and staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 12:Website is slightly misleading that has a pool - pool is part of the university and closed to public a lot of the weekend.
Review 13:Love the University grounds, so beautiful. Staff good, room fine, breakfast good.
Review 14:Beds are a wee bit small (I'm 6'2"). Night porter wasn't anything like the day staff. Gym was closed.
Review 15:Value is amazing. Breakfast was incredibly good. Day staff were friendly, efficient and polite.
Review 16:We thought the service was very good, very friendly staff and we thought the rooms and meals were very good value. We will recommend the Stirling Court Hotel to our friends.
Review 17:As above, the hotel is located in a strange place - inside a university campus! However, Stirling is a small town so it's not a huge issue for me.
Review 18:Great value for money, I couldn't really pick at anything, it really was a good service.
Review 19:Nothing
Review 20:Value for money and quiet place with nearby recreational facilities and the MacRobert Arts centre with cafe, restaurant, cinema etc. Excellent breakfast
Review 21:Everything was perfect. The staff couldn't be more helpful. The facilities were great and the evening meal was fantastic as well as the breakfast. Would highly recommend to anyone.
Review 22:Very small TV. Felt rushed out of room by housekeeping staff on departure.
Review 23:Lovely, clean bedroom and bathroom. Great breakfast. Helpful reception staff. Overall a great stay and would recommend.
Review 24:Nothing at all the place was great and the staff members were really nice and helpful.
Review 25:The place is in the University of Stirling where I had business to attend to.
Review 26:Nothing all good .
Review 27:Peaceful location easy parking . Enjoyed dinner as we ate in the Hotel . Breakfast was excellent . No problems even though other guests were having a wedding .
Review 28:The staff were very welcoming, courteous and very helpful. We were there to attend a wedding in Stirling and the staff supplied a map and took time to explain directions.
Review 29:Rain Suite right above central heatingboilers. A bit noisy! Tv kept losing signal and breaking up picture. Noisy radio station playing at breakfast. Just let us eat in peace without banal music and over excited radio dj.
Review 30:Clean. Nice area. Nice big suite. Good food. Big comfy bed. Lots of hot water. Good big tv.
Review 31:Checkin staff was rude. Payment didn't work and they refused to help. Really difficult to locate the property which is a long way from town. Need an entry and exit card to get in and out of university car park but they don't tell you that when you check in. The ad sounds as though it is a lovely resort but in reality the facilities are university ones so you have to go out in the rain to access the pool, etc.
Review 32:Large clean room. Dinner in bistro was good value and staff were friendly
Review 33:Friendly staff. Great bar food. Good choice at breakfast. Excellent place to stay for the university or MacRobert center, short journey into Stirling town center.
Review 34:Fan in bathroom didn't work so faintly musty smell when first went in, and total steam up when used shower.
Review 35:Bar area, very relaxed and cosy, great food.
Review 36:When we arrived they could not find out booking when they did find it said it was for April 2016 I had conformation it was for 27/12/15 for 2 nights when we got our room it was meant for a solo traveller not a couple only had one towel one glass etc
Review 37:price hike for 2nd night over 100% higher ! breakfast was poorly cooked/cold fruit had mould on strawberries. receptionist on first day was excellent but other staff were just ok.
Review 38:paid £39 for 1st night but they wanted £82 for the 2nd.hotel is in new condition.
Review 39:Nothing - could have done with a shower cap in bathroom.
Review 40:Nice room, relaxing quiet grounds, good access to the bar and restaurants and allowed a later check out time.
Review 41:This Hotel was lovely and modern and very good value. The tourist attractions were very handy. Rather than find a hotel in Edinburgh we stayed an extra day and travelled thereon a day trip
Review 42:Very comfortable and warm. Helpful and frindly staff. Good choice of good quality meals and excellent breakfast very quiet location.and rooms seemed to have good soundproffing.
Review 43:The classic double room has very narrow beds, and as a result can be very uncomfortable to sleep in with 2 people. I would recommend an upgrade to the bigger bed rooms but it didn't feel like a double as in the previous hotel the night before.
Review 44:Food was good, rooms are spacious and the bathroom has an awesome shower! The campus is safe and situated well in terms of space and view. Value is great and the bed can be overlooked considering the food inclusive breakfast and spacious rooms
Review 45:Could hear people passing the room with loud footsteps and talking.
Review 46:Room was very comfortable. Bathroom and shower perfect. Breakfast excellent. Location beautiful.
Review 47:The hotel is rather difficult to find at night owing to the poor sign posting on the campus.
Review 48:Good value with plenty of parking space . The staff were friendly and the breakfast top class. There is no need to take your car into Stirling as there is good bus service from within the campus grounds.
Review 49:The very poor quality of internet conection and the continue need to log on every time you wish to retrieve information. The very slow opening of websits which I needed to complete work. Work which takes 10 minutes took over 1 hour
Review 50:The good access to the conferance rooms for my business
Review 51:Nothing to dislike
Review 52:All staff very helpful and friendly from the moment we arrived to the time we reluctantly left. Food was excellent we even had snacks when we first arrived and they to were very good. Good bus service into Stirling if you didnt want to take the car and in walking distance of the Wallace monument. A brilliant place to visite. Excellent value for money.
Review 53:The service was first class. Dining was excellent. Room comfortable we would choose Sterling Court Hotel as our preference for future visits to Stirling.
Review 54:Disappointed with the breakfast. Food was dry and slightly overcooked
Review 55:A very smart and comfortable management centre hotel and extremely convenient for university business.
Review 56:When arriving at the hotel there was no record of the booking done through this site. The receptionist was extremely apologetic and not only found a room but upgraded me to a suite.
Review 57:No tea or coffee facilities in room Ok for price I paid but would have expected more if paying full rate No information in room about Wifi or facilities Room overlooked by offices
Review 58:Good location near to Stirling Clean and tidy rooms Quiet
Review 59:Service in dining room was slow in an evening where a wedding had taken place but the staff tried very hard to keep the inconvenience to a minimum. Breakfast excellent.
Review 60:Good parking facilities and excellent bus service to local areas.
Review 61:Bed very small Few facilities. No wifi in rooms 24 hour room service apparently, but no menu in room? Phoned reception twice with no answer.
Review 62:In the lovely grounds of stirling uni
Review 63:Having to use the cloud for wi-fi and noisy neighbours who slammed their doors shut.
Review 64:The room size was good, the meals at the bar were tasty and the staff friendly. We would stay there again or recommend the hotel to friends.
Review 65:No tea-making facility in the room. Bed and pillows very hard and uncomfortable - OK for some, but not me. Double duvet heavy. The bright bathroom light is automatic so wakes you up if you use the bathroom at night.
Review 66:The location on Stirling university campus, with beautiful views, the layout of the room, the excellent breakfast, towels changed each day.
Review 67:Our room smelt horrid, a little like stale food. Quite small rooms too. We booked as they offered a swimming pool, but the pool is mostly for the university, it has only a small amount of time for the public to use... For our stay it was after 7.30pm (my sons 7 and goes to bed then!) and then from 12.30pm the following day, we were leaving in the morning.... So phone ahead if wanting to swim and check available times.
Review 68:Only thing that let it down a little was the food. My partner found the dishes on the dining room menu a little small, whereas I went for the bar menu. I had the vegetable kebab which was a few pieces of veg on a skewer with lots of chips. Really is not that much of an issue as dinner was included in the offer we had.
Review 69:Loved the deal that we got with dinner included. Room itself was also lovely, small but that's all we needed! Would definetly come back for that price again.
Review 70:The amount of time u wait for dinner I ordered steak with potatoes they brought me chips changed it quickly tho but overall food was not up to much steak was burned and when u were eating it you could taste it the side of the steak you could see look fine when u turned it over it was Badly burned we got this as a deal and if I was actually paying the full price of £23 pound for this I would have refused to pay .
Review 71:Clean good location friendly staff
Review 72:Couldnt fault it, was excellent
Review 73:Food excellent, staff fab, very clean, have recomended and would definatly stay again next time ive got buisness up that way
Review 74:The room was very comfortable and I was impressed at how environmentally friendly the hotel has aimed to be. The breakfast was outstanding - I was very impressed with the choice available.
Review 75:My key did not work when I first got at the hotel and my room was to far which made me walkba considerable distance. Annoying but not a massive issue at all. I recommend the hotel for sure.
Review 76:Surprisingly good hotel inside a campus!
Review 77:Kitchen was slow getting food out particularly bar meals. Some dishes fab, others poor. Not consistent and staff said they were short of food.
Review 78:Bar Staff were great.
Review 79:The soundproofing between our room and the next was not good, but maybe the other guests were exceptionally noisy.
Review 80:The niceness of all of the staff that we met. The fabulous surroundings. The quality and the choice of the food was very good. We are in the area once or twice a year, this will be our accommodation of choice in future.
Review 81:The service we had at breakfast and dinner was extremely poor and slow despite there being adequate staff. Availability of basic food at breakfast was restricted.
Review 82:It had basic hotel facilities but it was value for the rate we paid. The hotel staff were attentive and very helpful.
Review 83:TV quite small. Internet connection difficult at times. Light in bathroom hanging down above mirror.
Review 84:The room and bed very comfortable. Breakfast excellent
Review 85:The hotel was in a beautiful location surrounded by woods and a loch. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was fantastic with a great choice on offer. Views from the room were stunning.
Review 86:The room was clean and comfortable. Friendly helpful staff. Very good breakfast. Good location for access to training venue. Good value for the money
Review 87:No lift for 80yr guests at our end and a very long walk from dining room & entrance. Double rooms didn't have 2single beds put together as expected nowadays. The bathroom sink was small with the tap taking up half of it. The shower worked fine if only it wasn't over the high sided slippy enamel bath, thank goodness for the rubber mat though there was no safety handle. Food was lukewarm not hot ,on cold plates and had to wait 20 to 30 mins between courses. Not enough staff.
Review 88:Room was warm, windows opened, was clean
Review 89:Excellent location within the beautiful grounds of Stirling University with leisure walks. Secure car parking adjacent to hotel entrance. Swimming facilities available (though not used on this occasion). Very clean and well-furnished rooms with good bathroom/shower.
Review 90:We tried to book the restaurant but were told it was fully booked but it was a large restaurant but only so many tables were set up ? The beds are little on the small side but are comfortable.
Review 91:The price it was very competitive. The food at the hotel was very nice and was at a good price.
Review 92:Breakfast on Sunday started later (at 8am) than I would have liked.
Review 93:The staff were friendly and helpful. The food is some of the best I've had at a hotel.
Review 94:Room was incredibly stuffy and hot even with window open all night. Desperately needs a ventilation or air con system. Shower is not adjustable height and our showerhead was broken so water just sprayed at the ceiling and wall. Breakfast was rubbish - 1 bowl of cornflakes delivered for 2 people to share apparently! - although we did have it delivered to room for no extra charge.
Review 95:Comfortable bed. Tea and coffee facilities in the room. Value for money.
Review 96:Fire alarm went off approx.7.30am gathered at fire station as indicated in room stood for 15 minutes no staff appeared to tell us what to do.we all went back in . still waiting for an explanation or apology.this is not what should be expected.very unhappy.
Review 97:The whereabouts especially the macroberts centre and a really good bus service into Stirling.
Review 98:Staff, food, facilities were all good. It looks like it's had a bit of a refurb since the last time I used it. I really couldn't fault the place and I will definitely be visiting again.
Review 99:After a long drive from the South of England I found the hotel a very pleasant place to undwind. The meal served in the dining room was excellent and staff really attentive.
Review 100:Double bed a bit small. Location great if you are doing something at the Uni or have a car but we'll out of Stirling otherwise. New carpets were going down so chemical smell was aweful.
Review 101:Clean and clinical
Review 102:no tea or coffee in the room.
Review 103:very friendly staff. very clean hotel . location was spot on . facilities were good and breakfast was good quality and choice
Review 104:Bar prices a bit steep, taking advantage of lack of nearby competition.
Review 105:Ease of booking in, ideal for disabled customer, parking adjacent to hotel entrance
Review 106:I was surprised to have my room number said loudly when being given my key. Most hotels make sure staff either write it or just show it.
Review 107:Very good, quiet location in the wooded campus of Stirling University.
Review 108:the wifi was not any good IT DIDNT WORK FREE WIFI BETTER WITH NONE. kids up ten years of age about 15 of them running about bar area from 9.30 pm till nearly 11pm not a good experiance . also wife said to lady at reception and she just shurged it off no sorry or we do appoligise
Review 109:the food was really good value and tasty bar service was excellent the young guy very helpful room was very clean and comfortable
Review 110:It was a Saturday night and I was at the end of a long, very noisy, corridor. Couple having very noisy sex from 10.00 p.m. until the early hours. Also people shouting and running up and down the corridors.
Review 111:Friendly staff and clean, comfortable room.
Review 112:nothing to not like .
Review 113:Friendliness of the people ; plenty of parking facilities ; ease of access to other places around Stirling ie Wallace Monument .Food & portion size was A1 .
Review 114:Our neighbours were a bit loud but that's not the hotels fault.
Review 115:The hotel had everything we needed and well in reach of places we once visited a few years ago. It was nice reminiscing & staff were very polite & very helpful.
Review 116:Very Bad signage to read in the Dark made the Hotel very difficult to find, a telephone call to the receptionist, had to be made, and the Shower drain was not "free flowing"
Review 117:Very Helpful Staff, especially the Receptionist, Very Clean large room & facilities
Review 118:Staff where obliging and friendly, beautiful settings, clean and well maintained, food was top rate and fantastic value for money, meal for 5 including drinks and 2 desserts £51.00
Review 119:No tea and coffee in the room. Didn't find a fridge and a air condition - a must have looking on the price.
Review 120:Close to University and sport facilities
Review 121:Breakfast in the morning was very disorganised. It was as if they were working 1 member of staff down and we had to wait for everything, sausages, bacon, waiters went in and asked repeatedly for us.I felt sorry for foreign guests as the continental selection lay depleted for quite some time.
Review 122:The meal in the bar in the evening was good value for money. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The receptionist on arrival was very welcoming and helpful.
Review 123:Just a couple of points we would like the hotel to consider. We booked the Tain Suite and stayed for 3 nights, dinner first night, breakfast following days. Dinner was excellent. However breakfasts became increasingly disappointing due to lack of replenishment of items (many)and most staff would just walk by the empty bowls/servers.The double bed seemed small, especially for a suite, would have expected a king size bed and the bedroom was very warm, despite us leaving windows open all day and all night for 3 days. The windows only vent at the top.
Review 124:Reception staff were excellent. (Sorry could not remember names of the two staff we dealt with) The IT/Audio technician Rico helped us solve a problem with our laptop re wifi/server connections. And Craig (young guy) in the bar was very friendly and pleasant to deal with. The Tain suite was huge, much better than we were expecting.Dinner on the first night was excellent. Overall our stay in the Tain Suite was good, just a couple of points for the hotel to consider.
Review 125:Very poor wifi signal which made it impossible to work as the signal kept dropping out. Also bad TV reception limited even enjoyment of the basic channels.
Review 126:Staff were lovely and so helpful. Bed was very comfortable and shower was nice and strong. Decent breakfast with lots of choice and accommodated my gluten free needs nicely.
Review 127:Food was expensive for the quality and the dining area lacked atmosphere. Dining in was the only option unless you drive outside the University site.
Review 128:Good location and value for money as a B & B.
Review 129:Very good breakfast and choice but we had to wait some time for replacement food items to be placed in the self service area of the dining room. Possibly as a result of the hotel being busy.
Review 130:Good location and a comfortable room.
Review 131:not bad but disappointed that the swimming was on regimented lines even on a weekend
Review 132:The helpfulness and knowledge of all members of staff we spoke with
The Fine Print
Please note that there is restricted access to the swimming pool on weekends from 5 pm.
