Reviews for Treloyhan Manor Hotel
Review 1:nothing
Review 2:Staff very friendly. Hotel very clean. Excellent location and value for money. Loved the choice for breakfast. Would return here again without hesitation.
Review 3:The sausage. Not my taste. Bedroom adequate. Cannot possibly complain as tariff excellent.
Review 4:Staff outstanding, helpful beyond belief, Christine is an angel. Free upgrade after horrendous journey.
Review 5:Very Friendly and professional staff. Lovely old building. Central to town. Easy access to coastal footpath. Great garden and seaviews. Room had excellent ventillation and heating. Able to meet other solo traverlers.
Review 6:Old fashioned and in need of overhaul. Good for groups. But amateur style run. Booking, com did not mention "Christian" hotel and we had presumed en-suite but shared landing facilities! They need to professionalise and step up a gear. We wish them well. xx
Review 7:Lovely friendly folk but ......
Review 8:The menu at breakfast was old and said that food would be cooked to order when in fact a cold and hot buffet were provided. Not a major gripe but I think the menu should be updated. On Booking.com it describes that Treloyhan Manor Hotel is a 10 minute walk from town, actually it's a good 20. I think this should be amended as the extra 10 minutes makes all the difference when you are on foot, especially when the weather is inclement as it was on Friday!
Review 9:The staff were lovely and welcoming and the room clean and comfortable. The manor house and gardens are impressive and its a privilege to be able to stay in such surroundings at a reasonable rate.
Review 10:Cups, saucers and tea spoons were not cleaned properly nor replaced after our first night stay - wondered whether room was cleaned to a similar poor standard. Problem resolved after bringing to attention.
Review 11:Helpful and friendly staff. Stunning view from room. Good range of breakfast options.
Review 12:The manor itself was nice and have a great view of the beach. The staffs were nice and very polite. The frontdesk was very helpful too. I definitely recommend this hotel to my friends.
Review 13:Outside signs almost impossible to see at night, made finding place difficult. Evening food menu too limited for more than a one night stay. Breakfasts were good. Bedroom lighting very poor, too low to read with. Heating far too high.
Review 14:Staff were most helpful, great atmosphere made stay more enjoyable. Nice location and grounds.
Review 15:You must do something about the approach roads, appalling! As regards the finer points of cleaning - look at the inside of the bathroom door in room 20 must have a thousand finger marks built up over a period of time. The tiles immediately in front of you at 6 feet high covered in dust.
Review 16:Breakfasts brilliant from the point of view of presentation and selection and the girl attendant.
Review 17:The only drawback was that my room, situated on the first floor, was slightly cold - there was a heater but apparently it was not enough since the room was relatively big and the closed windows didn't prevent the cold air from coming in. Also, the location of the hotel might not suit some people, as it's located about 15-20 minutes from the centre of St Ives. However, I didn't find it to be that important because the primary purpose of my trip was to do some hiking along the coast anyway.
Review 18:A wonderful hotel with welcoming and helpful staff. Given the prices at this hotel it was great value for money with a comfortable room and a very good breakfast. I was particularly lucky - because there were few people staying at the hotel the kind lady at the reception said that they changed my single standard room with a shared bathroom to a big en-suite room, she said it was my Christmas present and indeed it was!:)
Review 19:i was very grateful that we were upgraded to a superior room on first floor as i have recently had anke surgery and it was a lovely room(7) with a sea view
Review 20:Evening meal portion size , odd choice of accompanying vegetables with the main course with either fish or meat. ?
Review 21:Polite staff, excellent room with sea view. Very good cooked breakfast with lots of other breakfast choices. ?
Review 22:If you are walking at night to or from either Carbis Bay or St Ives, the path is a bit uneven and not lit so you need to bring a torch.
Review 23:Room was nice, staff friendly, breakfast buffet excellent. Parking good.
Review 24:the hotel grounds staff very helpful .a and a quiet location away from the traffic plus nice walk along the costal paths starting from the hotel grounds ideal hotel for a relaxing break
Review 25:Great as a solo traveller, opportunity to join with others for meals etc. I only stayed one night so did not have time to make the most of the lovely grounds.
Review 26:This is a beautiful old hotel about a 15 minute pleasant walk into St Ives. Great value for money with old world charm. Run by a Christian organisation but never a subject that was pushed. Lovely staff. Superb breakfast. Nice and warm in cold November weather.
Review 27:Given old-fashioned WCs with no sink, the hotel had, rather than installing sinks in the toilets, installed alcoholic gel dispensers. (These kill bacteria but not viruses so are less than ideal.)
Review 28:Comfortable room, very friendly staff.
Review 29:The reception we received was quite "cold" and unfriendly. This facility is owned by the Christian guild and we felt very uncomfortable, maybe the fact that they had a youth group staying at the same time as us, made us feel awkward.
Review 30:A lovely building from the outside and lovely gardens. Breakfast was fairly good too.
Review 31:Nothing! We knew we had booked a basic room with shared bathroom so no surprises there.
Review 32:We love the quiet location, free parking and beautiful walk into town. St Ives is full of pretentious expensive accommodation and we like the old fashioned charm and good value of this hotel.
Review 33:The whole of the downstairs was not so clean & very badly kept from every aspect! The area around the restaurant area had a strange strong odour!!!!
Review 34:The staff was friendly & helpful! The building of the hotel is beautiful FROM THE OUTSIDE and it is very nicely located for walking into the town centre! The top floor, where we stayed, was very clean as we had a shared bathroom reservation! Our bedroom & linens also were very clean.
Review 35:As a warning, this is a Christian Hotel, but we never felt the religionwas imposed on us.The hotel is beautiful on the outside, beautiful grounds, great location BUT can not say the same about the inside, what a disappointment! Very old, has not been kept up or updated, smells old. Carpets on hallways are torn, stained and stinky, the entire hotel smells like a nursing home. Rooms are very basic, room smelled musty and again not that clean. Bathroom very basic. Internet, depending on the location of the room, is very weak. There was a kettle and assortment of teas in the room.
Review 36:Location is close to town, about 10 minutes walk. Breakfast was verygood and sufficient. Had quite a few choices.Staff were kind enough to allow us to have our car parked for a few hours while we took a quick walk downtown after check out.
Review 37:The location was a surprise to me and was truly superb. Walking through woodland with glimpses of the sea beyond with the fresh air and the autumnal colouring was sheer joy; a joy further endorsed by the staff who were cheerful, intelligent, interesting, obliging and very capable. Exactly what one would expect from an old country house in the way of no lifts and ever so slightly tatty - good English taste!
Review 38:Didn't like not having ensuite. Booked before we realised. No possibility of upgrade. Noisy young people in room next door.
Review 39:Everything was very good value for money.
Review 40:The Hotel is a good 20 minutes walk from the centre of the town. The amount we paid was rather expensive for what is on offer.
Review 41:The hotel had parking and was very quiet, our room was clean and spacious and the bathroom was newly refurbished.
Review 42:Fabulous breakfast except I really have preferred a proper cup of filter coffee
Review 43:great value for money. Room was lovely and clean and light, staff friendly. A happy relaxed atmosphere with the dining room overlooking the sea!
Review 44:View of brick wall from room disappointing :)
Review 45:Clifftop location. Staff whn requested phoned for taxi which was helpful. Good breakfast abundant choice _ best so far.
Review 46:No lighting to the hotel at a night. Very old and mouldy rooms. Not many car parking spaces. All Christian hotel which isn't clearly stated at point of booking very uncomfortable! Rubbish wifi signal. Beds very hard.
Review 47:Nothing
Review 48:Beds a little tired. Not easy to find dining room without asking (map in room for facilities would help). No welcome to breakfast or instruction. Waiting staff not offensive but could be more attentive. Both days needed to find waitress to ask for plates and coffee as no one had noticed my arrival
Review 49:Reception Staff very friendly and helpful. Good value for money. Super location and stunning building
Review 50:We could not turn the radiator off and we were a bit too warm. I would have liked breakfast time to be continue just half an hour later so we could have a small lie in.
Review 51:The location was fabulous and our view from the room was stunning - we watched the sunset over the sea and heard an owl at night. It was beautiful.
Review 52:staff very friendly lovely gardens well maintained value for money nice breckfast clean and comfy was unsure of the shared toilet bathroom but this was fine dont let it put you off it is located in a hall landing, would deffinatly stay again #;0)
Review 53:Bedroom had one stud wall which made conversation difficult. I did not appreciate this was a christian hotel. this was not clear at the time of booking
Review 54:Room and shower a bit past sell by date . Christian activities a little intrusive, morning and evening services could have been held in one of the rooms tv or lounge rather than reception area.
Review 55:Location, breakfast, helpful staff
Review 56:Nothing but wish could have stayed longer!
Review 57:The Manor is a beautiful place. Grounds are gorgeous and well maintained. Staff very friendly and helpful. Very clean but furniture a bit worn, but still serviceable. Hairdryer provided and the mini soaps etc!! And a shower cap!
Review 58:Wifi is NOT available in all areas as per the listing. Staff are aware of this and not willing to move you to another room.
Review 59:Free parking and good breakfast
Review 60:Was not made aware of this hotel being a Christian Guild. However it didn't proof to be an issue. Breakfast / dining room set up was not practical with Only large tables so you either had to share (and talk - not always what you want) or sit at an un made table waiting for it to be cleared.
Review 61:Room with a view. Beautiful grounds. Easy to get to St Ives.
Review 62:Wasn't comfortable with all the Christians there. I don,t mind people praying in there own owns homes but they shouldn't rub it in my face.
Review 63:Excellent free breakfast.
Review 64:sharing toilet & shower would not do that again only found the little bar on last night need lighting along the road to the hotel very off putting when coming back at night if walking also the road is in need of major repairs
Review 65:free wifi breakfast good room clean staff friendly and helpfull
Review 66:Dirty hotel. Uncomfortable bed. Peeling and mouldy paintwork.Nothing like advertised. Very rude reception staff. Bathroom was unusable. Toilet disgusting. Will be forwarding the photos at some point in the next few days. We managed to get a full refund after 2 days. Obstructive manager.
Review 67:Breakfast and breakfast staff
Review 68:Beautiful large house but needs updating and modernising in some areas. Location very good. Driveway needs looking at as there are a lot of potholes.
Review 69:Seemed a little old and run down and tired. Breakfast half of the warm food was missing for a long spell. Staff weren't particularly friendly or bothered.
Review 70:Good location between ST Ives and Carbis Bay beaches.
Review 71:The fact when I booked I did not see anything stating about one bathroom per floor to share (but this didn't cause any issues however) The wifi connects but doesn't work
Review 72:The free full breakfast option was fantastic The staff were friendly at all times The hotel is stunning overal
Review 73:Where to start. Rude staff, unclean rooms, greasy breakfast. Hasn't been updated since the 70's.
Review 74:The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring St Ives and Carbis Bay. However a taxi back is definitely recommended
Review 75:Shared bathroom and toilets, very old building so no sound proof you can hear everything from the room, not very nice at night
Review 76:Staff very helpful and friendly, the location is not too bad close to the town and sea, the only discomfort its on the hill
Review 77:Veey basic room - had to move bed to find a plug socket and there was a lot of dust. Single beds not at all comfortable. Breakfast not included so paid extra for very basic breakfast .
Review 78:Nice staff, lovely grounds , nice walk down to St Ives .
Review 79:Way to expensive for what you get, needs renovating, small un air conditioned room, with uncomfortable bed. Also a Christian hotel which was kept secret until we arrived. I personally don't care but if we were a gay couple, or one of the many groups of people who have been discriminated against by Christians I would be deeply offended!
Review 80:Great breakfast, and if you are middle age to an older Christian couple this is the place for you (despite being over priced)
Review 81:rooms on the top floor to small really an excuse for a double, dated décor, shared toilet/bathroom, food not available when required, only at meal times and only if rebooked, other guests treating it like a commune, reception staff unhelpful,
Review 82:good location, grounds and breakfast. Some staff very pleasant,
Review 83:Box attic room noisy uncomfortable bed. Lack of wifi signal in room. No ensiute and lack of facilities for shower (1 shower for 10 rooms.) small towels larger ones only reserved for premier rooms. poor service at reception stayed seated at desk upon check didnot even get up to speak to you just shouted instructions acrossthe room. Was not aware that there wouldbe a christian alliance reference everywhere you went all books and magazines, pictures on wall, activities start with 'devotions'. Toilet didnt flush in shared toilet! No sea biew as requested. Will not stay again
Review 84:The outside view of the building was lovely altho inmeed of repair and maintenance
Review 85:I was placed in the annex which is a rather unattractive 70's office black looking unit desperate from the stunning Manor House. It had an en suite which was nice. However, if I hadn't been travelling alone I would of been very unhappy at being placed here. It was clean - but can understand the comments I've read on other people's reviews.
Review 86:Stunning building, superb location. Helpful staff. Great breakfast.
Review 87:The bed was uncomfortable, no bathroom in the room itself (had to walk down the hallway), breakfast sub-standard and room very basic and small.
Review 88:The outside of the hotel is lovely, the staff were friendly and the location was good.
Review 89:Old hotel. Needs redecor. Bathroom was unclean. Staff were rude. Arrived at reception. Ignored by 3 members of staff for 5 mins even after ringing the bell. Bed was uncomfortable and creaky. Could not sleep at all. Room was hot and humid. No air con or fan provided
Review 90:I'd booked a superior room, when I got to the hotel it looked nice from the outside. Got to our room and thought was small for a superior but didn't bother querying as it a christian hotel which I never found out before booking. Since I've been home I researched the rooms and found out that room 14 is a standard double not a superior room like I booked. # very unhappy.
Review 91:Sea view
Review 92:Shower cubicle was on the small side & needed a shelf for toiletries
Review 93:Breakfast was amazing with staff who attended to our every need. Lovely beach path down to Porthminster Beach/ town centre. Clean & comfortable room
Review 94:The only thing I didn't like about the hotel was that I had booked a room with an en suite however I didn't get one. When I got there we had a room with a shared bathroom. Because we were only staying for the night I decided not to cause a fuss about it.
Review 95:Lovely breakfast, friendly staff, clean and tidy hotel in an excellent location with the beach and town centre just a couple of minutes walk away.
Review 96:Staff were always happy to help. The Grounds are amazing, the Manor house is beautiful. The family stayed in two rooms and both rooms were clean and well presented. It took 10 mins to walk to the beach and further 10 mins to walk to the centre. We will def be coming here again.
Review 97:Our room was possibly the old servants rooms, just felt a little disappointing but didn't stop us loving it
Review 98:Loved the house the location the gardens the atmospher . Definitely stay again.
Review 99:Was very noisy during night there was a storm but my partner insisted on keeping window open as it was very hot in the room no air con. Continuous slamming of doors outside in corridor which kept us both awake. No lift had to carry cases up two flights of stairs.
Review 100:Staff friendly breakfast excellent
Review 101:No mention when booking of it being a Christian hotel although it wasn't forced upon you was unsure what was going to happen on the Sunday
Review 102:Lovely location
Review 103:About toilet in my room or other toilet at hotel I had to use disposed bag after finished faeces which bad smell in my room and towels not enough cleans
Review 104:Breakfast was excellent
Review 105:Stayed in the Annex so wifi didn't work in my room or on the hotel grounds- only in the main building. Would have been nice to be able to purchase water or something to drink aside from coffee while on the go. Quite a walk to town, beach bath was very steep heading back to the hotel.
Review 106:Property grounds are very nice. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. Overall it was just alright for a few nights. Nice pub- The Cornish Arms- a short walk up the road. Great service at the pub, food, staff and selection of drinks.
Review 107:The room was much in need of update, curtain hanging off rail, bath lino very old and the bath , although bath mat provided was very slipy, drawer broken. Seating in dining room for large groups, only one set for two that we only manage to get once made breakfast quite uncomfortable.
Review 108:Location was good with a beach path that took you to coastal path. Staff friendly.
Review 109:Helpful and friendly staff. Beautiful grounds. Excellent sitting rooms on main floor, which were a good place to converse with other travelers. Easy walk to downtown area.
Review 110:It was very noisy in the cheaper rooms as the floorboards were really creaky which made it hard to get to sleep - someone just needs to screw down the floorboards!
Review 111:For the price it was fine - you get what you pay for. Breakfast was very good and it was really close to the beach.
Review 112:Arrived at the hotel and was told that I had been given a different room. I wouldn't mind this, except that my the new room wasn't in the actaul hotel but in a grimy flat overlooking the carpark called 'the annex'. The view from the window was of the bins, everything inside was massively outdated/needing replacing.. I think that a reduction in the price should have been offered, given that my room was swapped without notice..won't be coming back again.
Review 113:Car parking not brilliant but nothing else we could fault.
Review 114:We stayed with my parents and we had a lovely room but my parents room was very small, quite claustrophobic!
Review 115:The bed was so uncomfortable, id say it was the most uncomfortable bed ive ever had to sleep in, the footpath into the hotel wasn't lit at all, quite dangerous and the drive leading up to the manor was terrible, in need if resurfacing,it would be lovely if the house had a facility of some sort, beauty room or pool, would go again but only for 1 night because of the beds.
Review 116:The manor house was set in beautiful grounds, the staff were welcoming, the view we had was faultless, overall good value for monwy, the breakfast was lovely, well worth the 7:50each.
Review 117:Quiet situation and beautiful mansion in large grounds. Comfortable accommodation and spacious public rooms. Excellent evening meal followed by equally good breakfast. Helpful staff
Review 118:The room was very poor and needs a lot of work. I would not have wanted to walk barefoot on the bathroom floor, there was wallpaper peeling from the wall.
Review 119:The staff were very friendly and the buffet breakfast was good. The building itself was lovely as were the grounds
Review 120:This is more like a youth hostel than a hotel. Staff were ok but it's run by a religious organisation which isn't mentioned on booking.com. I do not want to support any religious groups so would have preferred to stay somewhere else.
Review 121:The hotel assets were frustratingly outweighed by a lack of facilities which are standards in today's hotel industry. Whilst we could bear the out-of-room bathroom and toilet, we couldn't bear the unavailability of a shower head-and-hose system; only two taps were available in a bath and shampooing/hairwashing was such a hassle. The bathroom floor was always wet with water, rendering it dangerously slippery. Finally, there was no lift, making things difficult when you've just reached the hotel with luggage after hours of driving...
Review 122:The hotel is an ancient building made of stone, majestically standing in a 'green' environment comprising beautiful gardens. Following room allocation, there's an excellent view on the ocean, a real plus. Hotel staff was charming and helpful, kindly offering to carry our (heavy) luggage to the third floor.
Review 123:Really nice location, and clean room. The staff was very helpful as well in giving as directions and suggestions about where to go beaches/St Ives. We would definitely go back to this hotel.
Review 124:Car parking was at times, chaotic. Needs a one-way system for entry and exit. Waiting staff needed trolleys to enable faster table clearance/Setting.
Review 125:Friendly staff. Good location for walking in to St. Ives.
Review 126:No en site and the nearest toilet was out of order, in the morning the bathroom was in use and in dire need I used the sink!
Review 127:The surrounding gardens and lounge were good.
Review 128:4 star prices but not 4 star accommodation. Bedroom very basic and bathroom poorly equipped. Very bad driveway in and out causing car to scrape underneath.
Review 129:Quiet location, comfortable bed, friendly and helpful staff.
Review 130:Our bedroom had a magnificent view over the gardens to the sea, it was comfortable, very clean and simply, but well appointed. The hotel and grounds are relaxing and staff were welcoming and helpful.
Review 131:This is a beautiful country house with big rooms and a lovely aspect. Everything worked and was spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet.
The Fine Print
