Reviews for Beambridge Inn

Review 1:Our initial greeting could have been better the poor young girl was obviously not expecting us and couldn't find our booking in the right book - not a cheerful bunny and we were a bit of an inconvenience for her. Make sure you are aware they shut everything down after 10.30pm and you have to use the back door to get in. This was not explained and a little daunting when arriving back with no sign of any life at all. Check out the fire escapes which I always like to do when you have family in separate rooms. Booked 2 x rooms. Room 4 mattress whilst I was advised only a couple of months old - had the springs very near to the surface and was very uncomfortable to lay on all night. I had to sleep on top of the duvet with towels over me - not ideal - The owner agreed a topper would be needed. Was hoping to find somewhere suitable to stay later in the year as we have a family event in June but probably not here.

Review 2:Location - even though hotel is on the main A38 and right beside the railway line. Carvery nice and handy and great that you could have a small meal option.

Review 3:Wifi was erratic but not a lot could be done about that. The bed mattress could be done with a change soon as felt a couple of springs coming through.

Review 4:Relaxed comfortable and leisurely atmosphere. Nothing was too much trouble and we even returned later that day for a carvery which was nice.

Review 5:On arrival I was shown to my room, the room looked very nice but was so cold I could see my breath, it took 4 hours to warm up after turning the heater on. I would suggest that if you know a guest is arriving that you make the room warm and welcoming. Although the wifi was free is was so slow it would have been faster to send a pigeon with my messages, the old dial-up was faster. I ordered my evening meal of gammon fries and peas, it arrived with carrots and green beans instead....there was no explanation for this or apology.

Review 6:I was asked if I would like some Fresh milk to make tea/coffee on checking in. The lady who showed me to my room brought a flask with the milk in it. Lovely touch

Review 7:Everything about it, the atmosphere was lovely as soon as you walk in, the staff very happy and helpful. The breakfast was lovely, lots of choice. The room we stayed was lovely, we will definitely stay again.

Review 8:Breakfast was not too good , but a good choice and was offered something different as the fish was overlooked very dry and not edible

Review 9:Clean comfort room

Review 10:A few niggles, which although the staff were helpful they should not happen. We arrived on a mild day in October. The window was open and the heating off. Turned radiators on, but one only heated at the bottom and the other not at all. They sorted the cold one, but did not bleed the other. One bedside light did not work - reported, but not fixed. The hairdryer was missing, but provided on request. At dinner we ordered a bottle of wine and had to be reminded as it was forgotten. The strangest things - Sign said towels in the bath would be changed, those hanging up would not. We arrived back in the afternoon to find the wet towels in the bath still there, but those on the rail changed. Also, the radiators had been turned off. The room was chilly -, lucky we had not returned in the evening as the room would have been really cold. They need to get these sort of things sorted. Had they not happened they would have scored Excellent.

Review 11:Comfortable and spacious room, with settee as well as chairs. Lovely staff, friendly and helpful. Excellent food, large portions, good atmosphere. There was a wedding party on the Saturday, so they were very busy, but everyone seemed very happy and relaxed. We were served quickly (food and drinks) despite the place being packed.

Review 12:The standard for the price was poor. We have stayed in cheaper hotels where the rooms were of a better standard. The carpet was thin. Very noisy as the walls were paper thin and you could hear every word spoken in some rooms and outside when people walked past the room. The staircase was just where we came out of the room which had a step as well. Made it a bit dangerous. Wi Fi was not very good. Breakfast was ok. Not to us the usual standard of the Booking.com hotels we had before in the Uk and worldwide.

Review 13:The staff were helpful. The toilet was clean.

Review 14:See above

Review 15:Loved absolutely everything about the place the only thing I would have appreciated was that when we called to advise hotel staff of our later arrival time that they could have informed us that meals were only served til 8pm and we could have timed our arrival so we had a meal in the hotel. As it happened we arrived at 8.20 and then had to find somewhere else to eat.

Review 16:N/a

Review 17:The rooms were light, comfortable and recently modernised to a very good standard. Could do with an extra plug socket, but apart from that, very good.

Review 18:Needed to leave the window open as it was very hot. Some disturbance from outside noises, although this did not continue too late at night.

Review 19:The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We really enjoyed the evening meal we had there.

Review 20:Train noise was noticeable but not intrusive.

Review 21:Very clean, tidy and well presented. Evening meal: simple but so nicely prepared. Excellent value for money and knocks spots off a Travelodge.

Review 22:Poor service. Food over priced. Very noisy room (6) - overlooked by a railway line with extractor fans under the window. They ran out of ice for drinks.

Review 23:Large bedroom and a great atmosphere in the public bar.

Review 24:the music was very loud and went on till midnight, and we hadn't,t been told about it when we booked. We would not have stayed there if we had known.

Review 25:It was all excellent.

Review 26:Curtains in the room were thin hence very light in the room at 5:30am and then difficult to sleep.

Review 27:Did not have to leave the building for evening for food or entertainment.

Review 28:Wifi didnt work that well, hardly picked it up.

Review 29:Clean and spacious room, nice bar and friendly staff. Very accommodating. The prices are high, but the service you recieve is good.nice small bed and breakfast.only 7 rooms which is nice.more personal.

Review 30:n/a.

Review 31:overall good. "user friendly" I call it... good phone signal and wifi in room, clean, toiletries, desk to work on, TV (although I dont want watch it much), food ok too.

Review 32:Excellent value for money for a short stay. The staff, under Craig's direction are obliging and always friendly. Food is plentiful and of a high quality; service is efficient.

Review 33:It was not clean the room so called executive room which I extra for I've got a shed better than that,if Booking.com can't pick a selection of hotel better than that you may miss me as one of your customers

Review 34:Nothing it was not what I expected for a so called 4 star a I would not have given it 1 star so I did not like ant thing.

Review 35:There was a large party and unfortunately we arrived just too late to order our meal before they did. We were told there would be a delay and actually waited over an hour. The food was very good when it came.

Review 36:Pleasant room and clean.

Review 37:Accommodation was excellent, together with the hospitality and friendliness of the staff. We ate in the restaurant and the food was lovely... Only disappointment I was so full I didn't have room for the delicious looking puddings

Review 38:nothing to dislike

Review 39:everything was good value. stay fridays if possible its half price fizzy wine. great last minute deals. superb breakfast. super friendly staff.

Review 40:We were offered fresh milk for our tea/coffee in the room rather than have the usual plastic awful milk which is supplied in other establishments.

Review 41:Shower in our room was extremely hot - unable to cool it down. Reported it when we left, otherwise no problems.

Review 42:Easy to get to, plenty of parking, excellent food

Review 43:Lots of stairs down from the parking if you are lugging a big suitcase in and then no lift, so the same weight training for keeping fit on your way to the room - maybe this is a plus factor afterall!!!!

Review 44:I choose this not knowing the area at all, it was a good choice since I was centrally situated as a base for my travels. The rooms have been revamped and it was pleasant. The restaurant downstairs was obviously convenient and the portions large.

Review 45:Three things. I stay frequently in a new hotel that costs £44 per night excluding breakfast - £31 less. For that I expected a good evening meal and a good breakfast. I achieved neither. The evening meal of pate and then turkey was wholly unacceptable, lacking flavour and any taste - the latter a reheated meal Ugh! Breakfast I t hought could only be better - it was previously. I asked for poached eggs and bacon, The waft of vinegar as the plate was down in front of me was strong, the taste of it far worse. What was the ';chef' playing at. It was awful.

Review 46:I have used this Inn before and now that the bedrooms have been refurbished it is definitely better than it was. Food was previously quite good

Review 47:The re vamped Inn is comfortable and value for money in a good location. New menu retains the traditional 'pie of the day' as well as some new dishes.

Review 48:The inn is close to the A38 and the railway line was outside of our window. This was not too much of a problem as the trains didn't run through the night. Lighting in the room could have been improved with bedside lamps.

Review 49:The inn was cosy, with a lovely interior, in main part & our bedroom, which had been newly decorated. We only stayed one night and ate in the restaurant. Food was of a high quality and reasonably priced, care was taken with the presentation. Breakfast was cooked to order and again was very good.

Review 50:Nothing (apart from our sat nav sending us through the country route).

Review 51:Our twin room had very comfortable beds and a well equipped en suite. Breakfast was very good with some elements of buffet but the cooked breakfast, toast and coffee were to order and waiter served piping hot! We dined in the restaurant on arrival and the food was excellent and very hot. We recommend the cheesy garlic bread and the menu choice is huge. The restaurant staff worked very hard and were friendly and helpful. There is a large car park on site with a few steps down to the hotel. We would certainly stay there again and our onward journey on the A38 was very easy.

Review 52:Strong smell of paint and new carpet due to recently decorated room. Noisy extractor fan in bathroom Have to tick Group of friends as non of the choices in question 1 apply as I travelled with my Sister. Needs a further option to this question......

Review 53:Newly decorated room very clean and comfortable. Excellent evening Meal and breakfast. Good Location. Tea/coffee in room and TV good. Staff friendly and helpful. Would stay again

Review 54:We arrived at 8.00pm and the restaurant was closed we had to drive 5 miles for supper after a long journey. The breakfast buffet was vert basic and the fruit was not fresh.

Review 55:The Bed was very comfortable, closeness to our route for our journey.

Review 56:Wi-Fi was not working during the night time and in the morning, but may be our fault :-) we didn't ask them for more details.

Review 59:The staff were great, the food well, could not fault, fresh and great value for money, the Inn was clean and tidy after the revamp.plus the bedrooms will be going for a upgrade too, will be back again.

Review 62:Can't think of anything we didn't like, a most enjoyable stay.

Review 63:This was our second overnight stay at Beambridge we stopped there last year. Went back because we had a good experience on our first visit. It was a good start to our holiday in Devon.

Review 64:no air con or fan, room looked out on flat roof, and very visible to all coming down steps into pub (as naked neighbour didn't seem to notice)

Review 65:generally a nice place, pleasant pub and staff

Review 66:Isolated location but perfect for the M5

Review 67:Huge rooms and friendly service, we did not eat an evening meal but breakfast was good! Friendly service and ample parking :-)

Review 68:Noise from the road, stains on carpet, valence on bed was dirty, bed uncomfortable. Toilet was dirty when we arrived I personally had to clean it. Cleaner needs to leave an extra toilet roll and make sure you have enough towels for the next day

Review 69:Staff and facilities in bar and restaurant were good. It was adequate for what we wanted near to wedding venue. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The actual bed linen was nice and clean

Review 70:Cheapest bottle of house wine at £15:95 was ridiculous - not what one would expect in this kind of pub restaurant!
