Reviews for Springburn Lodge

Review 1:The room was cold to start, the heating issue was eventually sorted. The water in the shower was cold and remained cold.

Review 2:Really comfortable bed and room, friendly staff.

Review 3:Fabulous find. Overall gem of a place. Two faults no towels in pool location so had to take towels from room, which meant we didn't have clean dry towels for a showerafter our swim, secondly thought the pool area could do with a thorough clean.

Review 4:If I were to grumble would ask for heating to be on during the day as it was cold when we came in from walking. A choice of different eggs for breakfast. Poached eggs were hard so scramble would be nice but I am just picking. I would stay again and fully intend to.

Review 5:Really enjoyed our stay, good location for us. Comfortable bed and friendly owner.

Review 6:a second bedside table would be a welcome addition in Talisker room, otherwise excellent.

Review 7:Friendly staff, warm welcome, very comfortable and clean accommodation, great facilities for young kids and an indoor pool! Nice balcony for evening relaxing. Breakfast was healthy, grease-less, delicious and included fresh ground coffee. Quiet location away from city but easily within reach of main locations.

Review 8:there is nothing we did not like.

Review 9:we were lucky enough to have one of the king rooms which had a balcony and had spectacular views of the countryside to the rear of the property. the owners have done very well with the addition of an indoor swimming pool/games room and also built a small chapel onsite.

Review 10:Nothing to dislike

Review 11:From entering the building to leaving the next morning I was made to feel very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and I was very pleasantly surprised with the standard of accommodation. I wouldn't usually consider a B&B but I'm glad I booked this one. Will definitely be back!!!

Review 12:Cleanliness was not a top priority.

Review 13:The facilities were great. My children enjoyed the swimming pool and pool table. We all enjoyed the breakfast. Great hospitality. Outside the city but was great to be outside the city for a couple of days. However, it was close enough to go back and forth during the day.

Review 14:Having a pool at a b&b is unusual but very relaxing at the end of the day. Breakfast was really good. very comfortable room and good size, balcony was nice and would be really good in hot weather

Review 15:I would have preferred to pay by debit card but my credit card used to secure the room had already been charged in my absence before i arrived. This did make check in very fast, but i would have preferred to have paid when i got there (as this is what you are told will happen on Booking.com).

Review 16:The room was nice although a little smaller than the photo had suggested. Bed very comfortable, balcony beautiful, swimming pool great. Bathroom very nice. Liked the self-service element of breakfast.

Review 17:Awful cheap breakfast. No heating in rooms. Floors above noisy, thin walls. TV signal bad. Pillows rock hard. Towels worn out. Tacky cheap decor

Review 18:Didn't like anything about the place sorry.

Review 19:Pool and pool house were too cold to use; didn't like the idea of shared bathroom, especially one with a tub!

Review 20:Friendly staff, yummy breakfast, beautiful building, nice bathroom, good value

Review 21:Thoroughly enjoyed my weekend at springburn lodge. Accommodation lovely and so are the staff. Perfect break for couples. 15 min walk to nearest town with lovely scenery. Would def recommend

Review 22:This was located in a quiet area but close to local towns and sites. The staff were friendly, informative and helpful. The building and rooms were clean and had fresh decor. Overall a lovely stay.

Review 23:Absolutely nothing!

Review 24:What's not to like?? If you're feeling stressed with life and work before you go here, you'll float out of here feeling completely de-stressed and relaxed. John and Joana are the perfect hosts and they've thought of everything to make your stay a memorable one. They even have their own wee Chapel on the grounds of the Lodge that anyone can visit. The large en-suite bedrooms are very comfortable, each having its own large balcony. The conservatory is great for relaxing in after a day out walking. The indoor heated swimming pool is in a separate building only a few feet from the Lodge itself; here you'll find loungers, a pool table if you fancy a game, and music to entertain you. Springburn lodge is amazing value for money; you won't be disappointed!

Review 25:Entrance hall, dining room and conservatory were very cold as was the room had to ask for the heating to be put on room warmed up quickly once on but other parts were still cold.

Review 26:Easy check in, lovely house exactly as shown in pictures, nice comfy room & friendly owners added bonus of a swimming pool but didn't use it as being November it was too cold.

Review 27:Found the shower a bit complicated, am sure it would have been explained if I had had time to ask but this was only an overnight stay this time.

Review 28:Love this hotel - second time I have stayed there. The location is great for me as I live in a very quiet location so do not like city centre hotels. The swimming pool is an extra bonus & you can always get it to yourself!

Review 29:Nothing !!!! Could not fault a thing

Review 30:Immaculate rooms finished to a high standard , and very reasonably priced as well .Breakfast more than you could ever expect for the price of the room. A great place to stay and will definitely go back again. Staying at springburn was a better experience than I have had in an other local establishment that charges more than double per night !!

Review 31:Pool was cold, to be fair we stayed in November which is out of season so heating a large pool "just in case" would be crazy, sure it'd be heated during peak times.

Review 32:B&B was great, room felt spacious, staff were friendly. Good location, room was spotless with large en-suite shower room, added bonus of a large balcony which would be fantastic on warm evenings, breakfast was fab with choice of hot or cold options.

Review 33:Internet didnt work at all. Various reason given but not solved. The photos look fine however the finish in both plumbing and tiling had a lot to be desired. cracked tiles in most areas plus grouting missing in bathroom- hygene issue. Walls thin -as a consequence you van hear other guests talking to late into the evening. A large piece of foam placed on the door separating room- to assist sound proofing- howver this always fell out of the door aperture.

Review 34:Location in a beautiful part of Scotland.

Review 35:The fact that one of the most important reasons for booking was Wi-Fi - which wasn't working!

Review 36:Fairly decent breakfast, comfy bed, large balcony, nice owners

Review 37:the heating was obviously on a timer and didn't come on until I had been in the room for a couple of hours not good in winter

Review 38:New house. Lovely setting ,superb rooms and very friendly hosts

Review 39:Hard pillows

Review 40:Beautiful place nice friendly staff

Review 41:Breakfast Friendly staff Swimming pool facility

Review 42:The breakfast was lovely, the room was beautiful and the man who welcomed us was very helpful and gave us directions to Loch Ness.

Review 43:peaceful and relaxing handy for local whiskey tour, also not far from Inverness.

Review 44:Everything. From the moment we arrived were shown to our superb room which was the glennfiddich.

Review 45:Balcony Views Location

Review 46:It could improve signage from the main road.

Review 47:Quiet and scenic

Review 48:unbelievable value for money with a very high standard of room and facilities.

Review 49:The room would benefit from a Desk or table.

Review 50:Location, Cleanliness and very quiet.

Review 51:Everything. Would highly recommend a stay.

Review 52:Efficient, warm and friendly welcome, clean and comfortable, great facilities family friendly, can't fault it!

Review 53:Beautiful property, room and breakfast.

Review 54:Pillows were like cement. :(

Review 55:Room love and jet shower was fab!

Review 56:Weather

Review 57:Most interesting building

Review 58:Location, swimming pool, view, balcony, owner

Review 59:Total surprise in terms of value....excellent

Review 60:They catered to every need possible without question.

Review 61:Nothing

Review 62:Large comfy room with balcony great shower nice breakfast helpful friendly staff

Review 63:Beautiful House and excellent service Great value for money

Review 64:All round package room size en suite just very very good value

Review 65:Could not fault anything.

Review 66:Friendly and helpful, breakfast was very nice and set us up for the day. Would definitely go back.

Review 67:Internet issues

Review 68:Quiet location

Review 69:Very comfortable room, very decent breakfast, top marks.

Review 70:Our room ( Isle of Jura) only had a table and beside light on one side of the double bed. Breakfast was OK but missed the 4 star touches. E.g. no muesli or brown bread. No cold meats on buffet ( only pre wrapped cheeses) and only sausage, bacon, and pre-poached eggs on hot buffet The food supplied was good!

Review 71:A spacious house with large lounge and dining room with high quality furnishings. Great shower (once you understood how to work it!); rural location and lovely but unobtrusive service at breakfast

Review 72:the pillows were hard and uncomfortable. the breakfast was the same every morning and was not very exciting, if you are there several nights a bit of variety would be good.

Review 73:the views from the balcony were lovely. the entrance was beautiful, the bed comfy.

Review 74:The lodge is excellent and provides facilities you would not expect in similar type of accommodation in the UK such as swimming pool and pool room or jacuzzi with shower room. We also liked décor of the lodge and friendliness of the owner. Exactly as is shown on the pictures. Breakfast was brilliant too.

Review 75:Felt a bit odd not having anyone check us out - money came out ofaccount and keys were left on the desk

Review 76:We hardly saw anyone else the whole time we were there. We had full useof the swimming pool, pool table etc to ourselves. The lodge is stunningand the room very comfortable. Breakfast was included.

Review 77:Couldn't fault it

Review 78:A very peaceful and relaxing getaway for the weekend, great facilities ( swimming pool, pool table ) breakfast was good and the house itself was modern and very clean, all in all I would highly recommend it

Review 79:Pillows were very hard but this is personal preference. Breakfast could be improved with freshly coooked scrambled/fried/poached eggs , tomatoes.

Review 80:Feeling of space was great. Shower was excellent. Staff very friendly. Easy reach of great walking country.

Review 81:Swimming pool not operational. Patio doors rattled all night in the wind. Table light not working. Shower could have been cleaner. Breakfast was predictable and not great.

Review 82:Location.

Review 83:Couldnt complain about anything. Will return and will recommend it to friends.

Review 84:everything.Great couple running the lodge.Warm friendly welcome in a fantastic setting. We enjoyed our first stay so much(1st January) that we booked another night on our return journey from Stornoway rather than stay in Inverness

Review 85:Anything important. The general decor is not really my thing but nevertheless the stay was very good.

Review 86:The owner was really nice! The room was big and confortable.

Review 87:No personal touch, could be more friendly. Perhaps more of a variety at breakfast, otherwise fine and set out well. No help was offered with our heavy cases and was a bit of a struggle up and down the steep stairs to the firspt floor.

Review 88:Everything about this place was so nice, would come back again, would bring my swimming gear next time.

Review 89:no soundproofing could hear everything,at least twenty mins walk to town no lighting on walk back pitch black had to buy a torch no signpost to say where hotel is middle of nowhere.left a day early because of these things. also pool not in use so no facilities at all in hotel unless these things are addressed i wont be recommending it i would say dont go.

Review 90:liked the hotel design

We stayed in twin room with shared bathroom. We like the space of the room, the good quality of the facility and abundant breakfast. We think the stay has excellent value for money. The town Beauly is also beautiful and quite for having half day.

Review 92:That not every room had a balcony, this should have been specified as I was a little disappointed, although they said they would have moved me if they had availability. There is also no DVD player, I'm not sure if there were in the balconied rooms, they also had much larger and well placed TVs so possibly. Although this wasn't the be all and end all of the experience as there was one downstairs in the communal area. On the last night, after coming home from eating out, I found out that they did food in the evenings. I hadn't been in formed of this when I checked in nor was it in the literature for the Lodge. This is a shame as I would have loved to have tried some real home cooking, it smelt delicious!

Review 93:I love the fact that the staff were so accommodating. The room where the swimming pool was, was lovely and warm all the time and there was even table football to keep you occupied. I loved the spa bath in the communal bathroom, I just hope I didn't annoy people by how long I spent in there.

Review 94:Breakfast for 3 mornings was appalling. Hard to believe that anyone would put so much thought into design and completely neglect the food side. What a pity!

Review 95:I liked the location and design (we had a balcony overlooking beautiful countryside. It was very clean and the little swimming pool was warm.

Review 96:I didint like using a separate bathroom, but I knew it was shared before I booked so no real complaint. I believe, as it so happened, I had exclusive use of that bathroom anyway.

Review 97:Good staff, good food. Easy parking. There is an indoor pool which I never used but which I am sure is popular.

Review 98:Room was rather hot - not the fault of the owner!! Very hot day& it took rather a long time to cool room down. Not keen onsharing a bathroom, but that was the only room available for me attime of booking.

Review 99:Accomodation was excellent, very clean & comfortable. Breakfast wasexcellent - plentiful & a great variety of food to choose from.Owners welcoming, friendly & very helpful. Owner gave a very goodrecommendation of Hotel to eat at locally. Did not use but had option touse the private swimming pool - an excellent facility which is a luxuryconsidering the very reasonable room charge.

Review 100:Hand basin in room would have been helpful for filling kettle, also towel rail. Bedside light and one spotlight didn't work.

Review 101:Comfortable, clean and friendly.

Review 102:The self-service breakfast was disappointing.

Review 103:The whole establishment is superb - The Outside, the Entrance, Diningroom, Bedroom, En Suite, Pool complex, Chapel, in fact everything was great.

Review 104:Could have had a bedside table on both sides for a bit more convenience. Buffet style breakfast was a bit basic and dissapointing.

Review 105:Lovely room with great views from the balcony. Super deluxe shower was fantastic and very comfy bed.

Review 106:Nothing.

Review 107:Everything. This was the best accomodation we stayed at during our recent holiday. The standard of our room, the quality of the public areas and the friendly staff made this the most enjoyable leg of our holiday. It was also the cheapest accommodation we stayed at - how do you do it? Well done all at Springburn Lodge, we have already recommended you to all our friends. 10 out of 10.

Review 108:Was a fair way from any town but fine if you have a car.

Review 109:Lovely lodge with helpful staff. The decor was very nice and breakfast excellent. Excellent facilities. Would definitely recommend.

Review 110:No tissues in the room and no shower/bathmat. Only one bin in thebathroom, therefore no bin or saucer/dish for the debris from makingtea in the room. None of this would be an issue only it is 4 star andthe list of 'Dont's' in the rules could be written in a morewelcoming way. Being a modern building you can hear every door beingclosed. Looks grand but on closer inspection a curtain hooks are comingout of the wall. Again these details would not be recorded if the'do not do this' and 'do not do that' was not yourintroduction to Springburn Lodge.

Review 111:The architectural design. Breakfast chef- Mr Morison was very pleasant.

Review 112:Very comfortable room with superb shower. Very nice breakfast. Was kindly given an early check in as I was attending a wedding nearby. Nice friendly staff.

Review 113:The breakfasts were good, but only orange fruit juice available andcereals tended to be soft.

Review 114:Very friendly, good size and comfortable rooms. Helpful owners who coulddirect us to the best locations to visit. A good central venue forexploring north Scotland East and West.

Review 115:Little choice at breakfast although the food was good & well prepared. No bath mat.

Review 116:Very comfortable room and ensuite bathroom. Good location.Staff booked dinner for us in local hotel

Review 117:We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to friends and family. The staff were friendly and informative. The rooms were very nice and clean. The food was good.

Review 118:the t.v went off at 11.45 which didn't bother me but my boyfriend had heartburn and was still awake and was annoyed when the t.v went off!! I can understand why they put it off at this time howerver we did find it a little starnge!

Review 119:The pool, the private balcony, the shower, the bed and everything!!

Review 120:Nothing, its an amazing B&B!

Review 121:Stunning house and gardens, a fantastic pool/games room. Nice big TV, secure parking, amazing comfy bed, full rain shower with massage jets, quality decor and fittings, lovely breakfast, free Internet.....the list goes on! 10/10!!!!

Review 122:Nothing - well the TV in the bedroom was a bit small, but then again there was a really comfortable lounge downstairs with ample room to watch TV.

Review 123:I loved this place. The rooms were sensibly reduced last minute. The building was fabulous and totally unexpected in the middle of the Scottish countryside - Spanish style. You felt you were abroad. Decor also lovely, fantastic bathroom with jacuzzi bath and wonderful strong shower, comfy clean beds, poolroom for the two teenagers to hangout in at night, breakfast fabulous as well, helpful and laidback staff. Absolutely loved it.

Review 124:This lodge is out of the way of anything, so if you want quiet country living this is great. However, be aware you have to drive to get to anything.

Review 125:Room and facility was clean. Staff friendly and helpful. I will recommend this facility if the travellers understand this lodge is in the country with no easy walking access to much of anything.
