Reviews for King Robert Hotel
Review 1:I didn't like the fact that at 09:30 in the morning the housekeeping staff were shouting along the corridor to one another directly outside my room door, and then on the morning we were checking out, someone walked into my room unannounced and walked back out again.
Review 2:The hotel is in a very central location. The room was spotless and the bed was amazing!
Review 3:The shower curtain needed changing as it had black mould..Apart from the weather which nobody could change!!
Review 4:the staff were very curtious, friendly and very helpful. The bed was very clean and comfortable especially the pillows. The breakfast was very varied and hot.
Review 5:Early check in was requested and confirmed but room was not available on arrival. Room was also very cold no heating.
Review 6:Bar staff, and waiting staff were pleasant but receptionist on arrival was a bit sharp.
Review 7:Could not get car parked when being out on Sat night car park was full due too a function being on,also only one disabled parking space, tiles in bathroom could be regrouted but nothing major wrong with room
Review 8:Great breakfast, very friendly staff, good location, very warm room and comfy bed.
Review 9:There was a smell of bleach and disinfectant throughout the hotel but particularly strong in our room. The window could barely be opened which was frustrating in such a cramped space. Will book premier inn in future.
Review 10:Can't think of a thing
Review 11:Our family stayed in the cottage beside the hotel. Absolutely beautiful. Decor & furnishing to a very high standard. Extremely comfortable & cosy. Nice view of King Robert statue at the Bannockburn visitor centre from living area. Bread milk butter tea coffee biscuits waiting your arrival. Loved it. Area ideal for Bannockburn, Kelpies, Falkirk wheel, Stirling Castle & blair Drummond safari park. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 12:Bit far away form the city centre
Review 13:Great facilities, everything you'd expect and a bath. Cosy beds, nice and clean and the breakfast was really good. All the staff I talked to were really sincere and helpful too
Review 14:The only thing was walls were a little thin. Could hear the couple upstairs being very friendly
Review 15:Location was excellent. Rooms were cleaned daily, staff were very friendly and informative.
Review 16:the ground floor rooms have clearly been added or adapted from another use- the walls and ceilings are PAPER thin and the decor is pretty hideous and dated. not an altogether comfortable place to be, very basic room facilities & bed. The en suite appeared to have been fitted out with second hand remainder fixings and decorations
Review 17:the food and restaurant staff were surprisingly good. I hadn't planned to eat in the hotel as i was generally unimpressed, but laziness and bad weather forced me into it. I had a really good hand cooked dinner and breakfast was also delicious. Watch out for the breakfast shift restaurant nazi and sit where you are told!
Review 18:nothing to dislike.
Review 19:Great value accommodation - comfortable and clean; friendly staff and really good food at the bar or in the restaurant. Perfect for the business traveller.
Review 20:The friendliness of tbe staff and the other guests made the stat very welcoming. The view and the historical site of King Robert Bruce behind the hotel with the entailed choronolgies of the event made it more interesting.
Review 21:Went into restaurant for dinner & food from previous diners was scattered all over floor, not brushed up.Had to walk through the mess, staff oblivious to this.
Review 22:Location great.breakfast & dinner good
Review 23:In need of decoration. There was a smell of dam in the corridor and it was noisy. There was a scooter convention in so lots of chatting and doors banging into the early hours. I cannot comment on breakfast as opted just to go to the services instead.
Review 24:The staff were friendly and it was a bed for the night after a wedding in the City.
Review 25:Breakfast was below average for a buffet style service Low water pressure in shower No shampoo or conditioner Public areas and restaurant looked in need of refurbishment / redecoration External grounds could be improved with more garden furniture / planting etc
Review 26:Privacy in the Bungalow Views Friendly staff Comfortable beds
Review 27:the hotel could do with a lick of paint and some new furniture. Also Friday and Saturday night are party night, so don't plan on going to sleep until the party is over.
Review 28:The staff were lovely. Very friendly and very helpful. My room was very clean and towels, cups etc were replaced daily. Fabulous location for walkers
Review 29:Broken centre light not repaired while we were there, wallpaper coming off , sink blocked, plug broken from chain, cobwebs, springs pushing in your back in the bed, some of the wall plugs not working. water still in kettle from previous occupant. very shabby.
Review 30:Good breakfast.
Review 31:Overall experience was poor due mainly to adjoining room noise, were people breaking wind coughing and clearing ones throat was audible to the point of feeling no privacy what so ever. Large functions in full swing, access to rooms through socialising crowds not particularly pleasant. Room not the cleanest with stains around light switches etc, tiles lifting in bathroom.
Review 32:Shower
Review 33:Nothing to report here.
Review 34:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was lovely and the free Wifi was also handy. Breakfast in the morning was lovely (Buffet) and it was as much as I could eat. Overall I would have no hesitation in stating in the King Robert Hotel again.
Review 35:It was very very noisy late evening and until around 2.30am due to the room's proximity to the bar and car park where smokers gathered. The shower cubicle leaked from beneath and the accommodation was generally shabby. The cooked breakfast was disappointing in terms of the ingredients and the quality of the cooking and presentation
Review 36:i can't think of anything I did not like.
Review 37:Location was excellent, staff were brilliant and very helpful, meals were very very high quality, the rolled pork belly was to die for! The room was clean and the bed was comfy and wifi was available everywhere in hotel. Lots of parking spaces and only 10 minutes from Kelpies and 5 minutes from central Stirling in the car there was also a bus stop at the door.
Review 38:the room wasn't clean...found dirty underwear/socks, old keys from other guest
Review 39:The staff was very nice, b-fast was ok...the bed was very nice ....
Review 40:awkward staircase to access upper floor, room not very clean, bed uncomfortable, asked for double not 2 singles pushed together leaving hard ridge in middle, desk staff not very helpful in giving clear answers to enquiries about local amenities and how far away they were
Review 41:good selection for breakfast, helpful serving staff.
Review 42:The room was tired. Curtain off track. Broken light fitting over bed. Hole in bed throw. These were brought to the attention of staff.
Review 43:Food in Bistro good.
Review 44:Breakfast selection very basic unless you like fry-ups. Breakfast room tables not cleared regularly when guests left - shortage of staff??
Review 45:Convient for Glasgow/Edinburgh
Review 46:We only stayed one night. We arrived quite late;after 9. The young lady on duty who was near the end of her shift was nevertheless warm, helpful and friendly. Other staff we met were really nice too.
Review 47:The place needs a massive overhaul. It is more like a budget hotel than a 3*. The door to the room was sticking badly. I thought I was trapped in the room at one stage. The windows don't open fully and seem like a fire hazard. Little things like finishing the painting would make a big difference (doors were painted to within about 2 inches of the bottom of the door and never finished). Could be a lovely hotel with a bit of work. It was pricey for the standard of the hotel.
Review 48:Everything was clean. Bed was very comfortable. Staff were friendly and pleasant.
Review 49:See above re beds
Review 50:Had dinner in Bistro and the food and service were both excellent and very reasonably priced. Only gripe is that the 2 single we're really small for 2 mature adults. Fine for children but certainly not for adults. When I turned over I nearly fell out if bed a few times. The room is very spacious and would take 2 decent size single beds no problem.
Review 51:This is not the first time I have stayed and I would go back. The staff were excellent and ever so friendly. Went out of their way to accomodate our requirements.
Review 52:Room was very dated. Bedside lamp had no shade and some of the other lights didn't work.
Review 53:The breakfast was nice a full English/Scottish with haggis and black pudding etc.
Review 54:the food was excellent the staff were most pleasant and very helpful and friendly, nothing was too bother for them and helped to make it most enjoyable weekend we have had in years we will return !!
Review 55:The only criticism would be the sausages at breakfast but I spoke to a staff member who stated that they were in the process of changing them also hated the music in the dining room which was the same on both nights
Review 56:Hotel was clean and the room was comfortable we were half board and food was good with a good choice on menu. There was a wedding on in the hotel and we were not disturbed at all
Review 57:Staff attitude was really bad
Review 58:There was only one member of staff who was very pleasant her name is Sandra the rest were really rude especially the reception staff
Review 59:The 3 bedroom self catering cottage we had was excellent. All amenities were first class and the whole place was spotless.Would certainly recommend this if you are wanting a self catering option
Review 60:No hooks or pegs to hang my hat and coat.
Review 61:Deep bath, fast wi-fi, good dinner menu, friendly, helpful staff. Great value for money...and located on the edge of Scotland's most famous battlefield!
Review 62:two single beds pushed together does not make a double..tv did not work..some hairdryer thing fell off the wall.. shambles. shame
Review 63:the location was good and the food was nice.
Review 64:The bad service and noise room! When I brought up the fact the room was noisey I get the response "well, that's how it goes sometimes" with no real attempt to rectify the situation, I had to ask to be moved!
Review 65:The breakfast was ok, shower room was new and clean.
Review 66:A bit out from the centre but we did manage to walk in to the centre and back for supper. Approx 5 miles there and back.
Review 67:No noise throughout the night. Very comfy beds.
Review 68:Bad housekeeping, there for 7 days, old sheets (holes in them) changed once but stained mattress protector wasn't. Over the 7 days various things weren't replaced, toilet roll, sugar, clean cups, teabags, bleach spilt on carpet
Review 69:Scotland is a beautiful place to visit, staff friendly
Review 70:Bar steward at night was unfriendly bathroom floor tiles were slides when wet no mat to parent accidents never felt so unwelcome as I did couldn't get out quick enough
Review 71:Entertainment friendly staff and close to Stirling
Review 72:All staff very friendly and helpful we have stayed at the hotel three times and never had any complaint.
Review 73:The WiFi is not effective. It doesn't work in the bedroom. When I attempted to turn on the television around midnight I discovered that there was no remote control and no control buttons on the tv. I rang reception but the night porter couldn't do anything about it except file a report. So, no WiFi, no television, no air-con, and little sleep as the room was too hot (outside temp was higher than usual).
Review 74:This was a late booking but check-in was open until midnight and I arrived just after 2230 hrs. Everything was prepared and only required my signature. It seems I had delayed the receptionist as she made a dash out of the hotel as soon as I left the reception desk!
Review 75:There was a celebration going on at the hotel, but we were still put in a room near to the main reception. The noise from the celebration went on until the early hours of the morning and the noise from reception woke us early in the morning so got very little sleep. Thought that with a little effort and consideration we could have been placed in a room further from the celebrations
Review 76:Fair location slighly out of Stirling but on a decent bus route.
Review 77:The room could have been a little cleaner as it needed dusted but this did niot distract from the stay
Review 78:The dinner and breakfast were excellent value for money and the chips were to die for. The service was good and the staff very considerate
Review 79:Room was dirty/dusty, Nowhere to sit and relax for a conversation as a band playing for a wedding and another musician in the bar.
Review 80:The breakfast and the manager was very honest and friendly.
Review 81:Check out time was11am. Cleaners came into the room twice before10.30am! .
Review 82:Friendly helpful staff. Good location. Bus service good to go into town. Walking time about 20-30 mins. Nice clean room.Good shower.
Review 83:Loud fire door outside our room disturbed our sleep late at night and early morning. Mattress was ancient, was like sleeping on the hard base. Carpets need cleaning and wine splattered down wall and radiator. Bar area needs more comfy chairs. Was only 1 sofa and no separate lounge.
Review 84:Location, food, friendly staff.
Review 85:First night we had ants in room (on ground floor with small garden outside) but moved next day to another room.
Review 86:The staff were excellent, breakfast was good, cost of rooms very good, good selection of food and drink in bar and not too expensive, lady serving could not be more helpful.
Review 87:The amount of staff that seem to be wandering about but only one man running the bar and taking orders for and serving the food! The wait we had to be served.
Review 88:Got a it for a fairly good price. Evening meal and breakfast were both good.
Review 89:Bed was very hard and old really needs renewing. Decor certainly needs updating, the brown doors look awful and the artex walls & ceilings need to be changed. Service staff were not that friendly a few smiles wouldn't go a miss, everything was just a matter of fact. The noise of the corridor door that banged shut every time someone entered the second floor (our room was right next to it).
Review 90:Free wi-fi, bar and breakfast. Location next to Bannock battle was very good.
Review 91:The staff having poor knowledge of the menu. When in the restaurant, the guests were getting flat soft drinks, wrong starters or coming too soon with next course. The cleanliness was poor in dinning room and bedroom. The meal allowance for d,b&b was quite low. The noise level outside the hotel was high in the early hours of the morning. Overall impression would not recommend this hotel
Review 92:The entertainment which had been laid on for guests.
Review 93:Convenient stopover en route to Scotland. Next to Bannockburn Memorial and on bus route to Sterling city and castle. Good value food, room had everything we needed.
Review 94:The mattress protector had a large brown stain on it, the phone in the room didn't work so we had to keep going back and forth to reception. The wifi connected for about ten seconds at a time but only from one corner of the room. The bathroom was not clean, there was a lot of dust and stains on the wall. When staff brought room service in, they spilled it on the bed. The room was too hot to sleep properly even with the window wide open and no covers on.
Review 95:The dinner was really nice and there was a good range of choice on the menu. The shower was good. We were provided with extra teabags and milk on request.
Review 96:ignored at reception for check in...maybe a bell would help...says they serve food till 9..we went at 8.30....starter served without even an acknowledgement from waitress...told we couldn't have a desert because it was 9.15 and they CLOSE at 9...Not how I would interpret a restaurant that says they serve till 9...doesn't that mean you can order till 9 ??
Review 97:Very friendly barman.
Review 98:Bathroom needs upgrade, stale smell in rooms even though non-smoking.
Review 99:Location near motorways, comfortable bed, good breakfast choice, onsite restaurant.
Review 100:Could do with being modernised, breakfast could be better - where was the haggis!?!
Review 101:Good sized bar, reasonable prices, informal atmosphere. Easy parking. Easy access to roads and city centre.
Review 102:Superb location next to the Battle of Bannockburn Visitor Centre and site. Our room had a lovely view of the Bruce Memorial. Hotel was clean and staff very welcoming. Room and food were good value for money. Would stay again if in Stirling.
Review 103:It`s an easy location to find by car. The food was good and there was excellent entertainment in the evening. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful and the room was quite adequate - what`s not to like at £54?
Review 104:It was functional rather than palatial, ideal for a good night' sleep on the wAy to somewhere.
Review 105:It was really close to the Bannockburn experience and handy for Stirling, the castle and the town. Roads lead to everywhere in Scotland! Good value.
Review 106:Just one little niggle, was the noise of the evening entertainment could be heard from our bedroom when we were trying to sleep. Someone needs to keep bar or lounge doors closed when music on. !!
Review 107:The high quality standard and cleanliness of the accommodation, the excellent location, good food and customer service
Review 108:There was problems with card keys, which was sorted out without inconvenience to ourselves.
Review 109:Helpful staff, good food including the dinner, very comfortable bed.
Review 110:Our first allocated room was a disgrace. The second was better. Poor decor generally and the window looked liked it might fall out it was so rotten.
Review 111:The staff were lovely. Helpful and friendly.
Review 112:Our only problem was having a room right beside a fire door with other guests using it till 2:30 in the morning which meant we had little sleep.
Review 113:Good location for a trip up to the north of Scotland with the benefit of being right next door to the Bannockburn Heritage centre where a relaxing walk can be had.
Review 114:The place was grim. Poor reception. No lampshade in the toilet - bare bulb. Cracked cistern and no means of draining the sink as the mechanism was missing. No water in the room and plastic glasses. Double bed was two singles zipped together and absolutely rubbish. At 0910 in the morning, the staff were running up and down the corridor, waking guests up and invading their rooms - check out was 1100. 3 star hotel? Not sure on what basis but will never stay in such a skanky poorly maintained fleapit - really poor experience.
Review 115:Checking out
Review 116:Minor detail....but the mattress was a bit on the firm side.
Review 117:Food excellent. Restaurant excellent. Staff excellent Comfort and cleanliness , excellent!! Would recommend to anyone.
Review 118:Food and service and evening meal and breakfast weren't great! Bar meal was just average, breakfast had a fair selection but sausages were poor quality! It said online breakfast finished at ten but on arrival we were told Monday to Friday it finished at 9, went down for breakfast at 8.30, all but one table for ten people were full of dirty dishes and half made up, waiter did apologise though!
Review 119:Friendly staff, good sized rooms, the smaller double rooms were much nicer than the bigger ones though!
Review 120:mattress springs broken and lumpy.needs throwing out. did not get a good nights sleep back ache. room very ,very tired needs upgrading. cheap sausages at breakfast
Review 121:restaurant and location
Review 122:Couldn't connect to the internet (though that may have been my PC) and the walls of the room/interconnecting door were so thin I could hear everything the couple next door were saying.
Review 123:Helpful staff
Review 124:Nothing. First class 10/10. Can't wait to return. The staff are a credit to the owners.
Review 125:The outlook of the room onto the battlefields of Bannockburn. Very quiet and beautiful room. Very friendly staff
Review 126:Some of the deco, mainly the wallpaper, could have done with a little face lift. once completed it would take it into the Luxury bracket.
Review 127:The Hotel was well situated if we wanted to get out and about, it appeared well run by good staff, the evening meal we had in the hotel was excellent and over all our stay was very good value for money. We have already recommended the hotel to most of our family members.
Review 128:We always use this hotel when we need to do birthday or Christmas present shopping. The hotel is only a five minute drive away from the centre and you can park all day in the ncp car park for £2.20, bargain!! Food in the hotel is excellent, the staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is always good with plenty to choose from. The hotel is clean and well looked after. I would recommend to friends and family as I always do. We will be back again soon. Thanks for a great stay.
Review 129:Friendly staff, excellent breakfast and no hassle no matter the time you check in Accommodation was basic, but then for the price I think it was excellent value for money
Review 130:The room let the stay down it seemed to be one ready for an upgrade and we had problems with the flush on toilet.
Review 131:the food was excellent and we did not have to wait long for it, bed was lovely and comfortable .
Review 132:This is the 2nd time I have stayed here, first time was at a weekend and noise from other revellers in the early hours of the morning was disturbing. On this occasion I was woken 30minutes before my alarm by the television in the room next door, I knew the news headlines and BBC weather forecast before I got out of bed.
Review 133:Location for Stirling and the surrounding historical area. Breakfast is well organised and the choice is excellent and good value.
Review 134:smell in room of foostiness ,poor hairdryer, dated furniture and very poor soundproofing .could hear every word in other room.
Review 135:WiFi, Breakfast ,hot chocolate in room
Review 136:more like a commercial hotel- lots of workers staying; very cold even with fan heater; bar area was very basic - smelled of food
Review 137:friendly helpful staff; convenient for sight seeing in area; easy to find from main roads
