Reviews for Tewkesbury Park

Review 1:The Room once again was great but they continue to only put one bar of soap to use for the wash hand basin and for your shower not good and with two people they are having a laugh. Hair in my coleslaw :( They were going to charge me £10 for a late check out :( The phone in the room did not work I had to use my IPhone to call the reception to order room service. The parking for guests was taken up by contractors vehicles. Breakfast was to be until 0930 when we arrived just after 9am it was all but gone and cleared away. Icing on the cake with my late check out there was a construction worker in the next room using a jack hammer he was quite rude to me when I asked him to stop as I was working on my computer and it was like been on a building site. NB...I with my partner have stayed with them 4 times now in as many months at £124 + per stay but this has been the worst will I stay again we will have to see :( so disappointed :(

Review 2:The Room :)

Review 3:Stayed here 2 times. Loved the views and the rooms are so comfortable. Tried few hotels nearby but this one is the best. Maria from the reception made us feel special!!! We are definitely coming back again !!!

Review 4:walking out side of the main hotel and into the indoor leisure pool. would prefer all joined up with the main hotel :)

Review 5:all staff were extremely helpful and pleasant to talk to and also were always available to help you if needed.

Review 6:Upon arrival at the hotel o asked the receptionist what time the pool and sauna faculties closed, She said 9.30pm. My boyfriend arrived a little later than me so i met him so I told him we had until 9.30 to use the pool etc. When we went to use them at around 8.40 we found they were shut, after speaking to the receptionist she said I told you 8.30 which I am very annoyed about ao we didn't get to use the pool and the receptionist insinuated in front of my boyfriend that I was a liar. I told the receptionist that I really wasn't happy about this and she told me to write down my email address and someone would contact me about this yet someone hasn't! Weeks later! This is not acceptable. It I had wanted a hotel without a pool I would have chosen a much cheaper one closer to my home

Review 7:Room was really nice and bed was massive and so Comfy. Shower and bathroom facilities were good and very clean

Review 8:Went to the bar at 9.30 I had two Baileys then told the bar had ran out by 10pm. Had to return to our room as we couldn't continue to drink at the bar. The choice of breakfast was very good but the cooked breakfast was very poor. We went for breakfast at 8.15, there was one egg, a couple of tomatoes, very little mushrooms and rock hard bacon. As we couldn't eat much of the cooked side of the breakfast we felt that it wasn't worth the money we paid. We would like to stay at the hotel again but won't have breakfast there, instead we will go into Tewkesbury and find an alternative place to eat

Review 9:Hotel was spotless. The hot tub was excellent. Staff very friendly, extremely polite both on the reception desk and in the breakfast room.

Review 10:ordered a paper but its not delivered to your door having paid £125 for the room. only one small round of soap for two people and they knew it was going to be two people

Review 11:the ex room perfect thank you and the late check out 2pm :)

Review 12:Although we had booked an executive room with an extra bed, for our granddaughter the room given did not have an extra bed nor did it have a bath. We were quickly, transferred to another, larger executive room and with a bath, with an extra bed being quickly put up. I was a little surprised that the excuse use for the mix up was that they had not looked at the special requests on the booking confirmation.

Review 13:The evening meal was excellent. Our grand daughter thoroughly enjoyed her birthday party/meal with the waiter singing happy birthday to her when she brought out her cake.

Review 14:Bathroom not very clean. Room ok, but renovations on-going so corridors, public areas not clean. Price did not reflect disturbance from renovations.

Review 15:Walking distance of town centre. View of golf course from room good.

Review 16:On many occasions we attempted to open the door to our room which meant many trips for a long distance back to reception and when I asked for help they said at reception that it would be sorted out when we were back from town. On our return the receptionist said, "Oh I forgot your room number and what you wanted" on the fourth attempt it was sorted out however I had to find the right member of staff to help. The whole reason for the problems was that a football team had been in and changed the paper door numbers around. Also I attempted to contact room service and waited for five minutes and there was no answer. The lady at reception was very unhelpful which was terrible and we will not stay again

Review 17:we liked the location and the room was nice

Review 18:Not previously informed of refurbishment taking place during our stay. Made representations with the manager who was apologetic and 'upgraded us' only to find later on in the day other problems with the room. The breakfast was very expensive for what there was.

Review 19:The location is stunning - wonderful views across countryside especially towards Tewkesbury Abbey.

Review 20:Disappointing as corridor send it lights were not working and the kettle was dangerous. Breakfast service was not ideal. Booking out as no experienced person available was compromised. The new owners I am sure is trying to improve and wish them well for the future

Review 21:the views the standard of breakfast was good

Review 22:The service and knowledge of the Bar staff was poor, especially on the Saturday evening when there was another function and everyone wanted drinks before the evening meal. Service in the restaurant was slow and staff inexperienced.

Review 23:We enjoyed two days of golf, the location and the room was excellent.

Review 24:Check in on arrival could be more efficient.

Review 25:Ideal location for places of interest to visit, Malvern Hills, gardens, 3 Counties shows. Good choice of breakfast and evening meal. Restaurant overlooks lovely view across golf course. Tasteful furnishings throughout including lovely seating areas and bedrooms.

Review 26:the food both breakfast & evening meal were very poor in choice & quality, not a very nice dining room. The bedroom was ok but not worth the price & the hotel was in general tired & in need of redecoration

Review 27:Spa is basically a pool with a couple of add on's a lot of hotels advertise like this now. Bar Staff saturday evening were at best hopeless. I couldn't tell if they were very tired, high or couldn't care less

Review 28:Golf facility is great

Review 29:Shabby decoration. Most of the carpets along corridors were a couple of inches to short. No light in ladies toilets which lead to me having a very frightening experience. Plug in bath wouldn't come out, no working overflow on bath. Room service just about average, nothing special.

Review 30:Nice big bed. Good view on to golf course.

Review 31:The bar meals; I have had three now& every one was served cold, disappointing when everything else is so good

Review 32:The hotel is lovely, I usually always stay here. Staff are great, as are the facilities.

Review 33:Jacuzzi in leisure facility was broken. Had to fix shower head in bathroom as kept falling off when shower was turned on. Had to call to reception numerous times to get extra milk and sugar until someone eventually came.

Review 34:Lovely location with beautiful view.

Review 35:the cleaner walked in at an inappropriate time eventhough there was clearly a do not disturb sign on the door! the room service food was utterly disgusting! it was microwaved rubber! and there was no warning of this! I paid £9.95 for a £1 asda micromeal. this was infuriating! our entire corridor was sectioned off with 'wet paint' signs and 'do not enter' there was no warning of this when checking in. We were offered nothing for my complaints which unfortunately ruined our stay even further. Such a pretty hotel but unfortunately not much to offer. as my mother in law lives in Tewkesbury, we wouldve been regular visitors.

Review 36:location, room, comfort

Review 37:We gave the hotel a list of little niggles such as no light bulb in the bedside light. There needs to be more attention to detail. The buffet breakfast is OK but not very inspired for such a large hotel. It was a real scrum at peak time

Review 38:Location. The hotel is just outside Tewkesbury, a very cute little town. You can walk in in about 20 minutes Sports facilities. The hotel has many facilities which are great for older children

Review 39:Being refurbished, we were not told. Drilling ,banging, paint smell, shabby carpet in hallway. Not suitable for disabled, no ramps or lift, steps everywhere, only two disabled parking spaces. Staff always apologising. Showed too fierce to use, told it was a known problem. No discount despite all this. Will not use again.

Review 40:Good food, nice people. Hot tub in leisure facility outside and lacking in heat and bubbles but pool fantastic.

Review 41:There was not enough staff when we arrived so it took a long time tocheck in and to be served at the bar. There was a pot full ofcigarette butts outside our hotel wing and refurbishments going on,which meant rubbish and unfinished walls. The beds were slightlyslanted up at the feet!

Review 42:The staff in the morning and at breakfast were lovely and very helpfulBeautiful setting Decent breakfast

Review 43:The breakfast was poor. The restaurant was understaffed, service was very poor indeed and some of the food was cold. We left some comments for the manager but they have failed to respond. I can only conclude that they deem this level of service to be acceptable in an otherwise good hotel.

Review 44:The location was excellent

Review 45:Paint smell lingering in some corridors but renovations appear to be nearly finished. Family room very small with two extra beds.

Review 46:Very clean and warm swimming pool. Excellent buffet style breakfast. Attractive and quiet location surrounded by a golf course. Nice entry lobby and reception area. Good parking. Patio doors from bedroom to garden (worth trying to get). Well appointed modern bathroom.

Review 47:Builders noise! Had to step over building materials dirt and dust to get to our room! Restaurant was closed for our entire stay!

Review 48:The hotel is situated in beautiful countryside with panoramic views and our room had a very comfortable bed, regrettably these were the only two good points.

Review 49:Overall score wrong it should be 9 Liked everything about the hotel. Could not mark room service - not used or WiFi not used

Review 50:Nice friendly hotel. Clean spacious room very comfortable bed

Review 51:Did not get the family room i had booked with booking.com. Told that the problem was booking.com for not telling hotel. Receptionist did not apologize. Was given a double room in which housekeeping had to squeeze in an extra bed.

Review 52:Location and free round of golf on practice 6 hole course.

Review 53:WE couldnt use the internet as we couldnt find a code but it was not a huge problem .I didnt like it that the cleaner was knocking on our door at 9 30 to see if we had gone .We didnt want to rush and the room was ours until 10 am.Disabled parking was not available nearer to the hotel door . The bath was very slow to empty and we copuldnt at first remove the plug .

Review 54:The location was lovely and the room very nice .

Review 55:Internet was slow, squash court flooring needs a lot of attention, corridor flooring also needs attention, wobbles & moves as you walk down.

Review 56:Great location, nice hotel, will definitely stay again.

Review 57:Telephone did not work. Breakfast table was inadequate and staff couldn't find Salt Pepper, food was tasty and well prepared, although had to ask 3 times for more toast, not sure it was worth the £10.00. Evening Meal was average and service was not up to scratch, 2 out of 4 meals arrived in good time, however, we had to ask for the other 2 5 minutes later before they were served. 2nd night went out for dinner and breakfast rather than staying at the hotel.

Review 58:Staff were very helpful, although lacked knowledge of normal basic service requirements. Bed was comfortable and room was very clean, however, once leaving the room the hotel looked worn.

Review 59:The Restaurant staff apart from a lovely lady called Joyce seemed at aloss, I was always asking at our Dinners and breakfast for condiments, they had run out of soup spoons difficult if eating soup, by the timethey had found a dessert spoon five mins had gone by. On the 1st nightof our stay our food was basically "plonked" down, andnothing else was offered, which was a shame as we wanted wine andextra condiments, this made the rest of the dining experience a littlelack lustre especially as this was for us a business trip and thismeal was quite an important one. Being a Golf Hotel there are a lot ofgolfers dining, however prescience seemed to go to the golferfraternity, but all customers are equal and should be treated as such. The carpets throughout the hotel are tired, in places threadbare andthe shower in our room sent water everywhere as the shower sealsdidn't work, so after each shower we were having to use our bathtowels to constantly mop up.

Review 60:Staff were welcoming and warm, the location for our business excellentand leisure facilities fab, the food was outstanding especially for theprice, We will return the same time next year, however it is doubtful wewill be bringing our clients back to dine there because the service isso poor, which is a shame because if they could just get to grips withservice the food would shine out even brighter

Review 61:When it said WIFI I thought I'd be able to connect wireless through phone but you could only do this by cable which you would of needed to bring.

Review 62:The views were excellent, the staff were friendly and polite, and the breakfast was fantastic.

Review 63:As we arrived on the Friday there was more disruption to services and general facilities as a result of the building work than we had been led to expect.

Review 64:Staff and facilities

Review 65:We were there when the main kitchen was needing work and therefore we had to eat in 'the greens' and there was a smaller kitchen there. The food was not great but the operations manager was very helpful and listened to our issues

Review 66:The location was lovely with easy access to Gloucester and Tewkesbury. Nice refurbed room if a little small

Review 67:Rooms being refurbished so we had to walk through builders/joiners mess lying around, not such a good look!

Review 68:I liked the location of this hotel, being just outside of Tewkesbury it was quiet but close to all amenities. Rooms were a good size, one had a lovely view and the other didn't! Breakfast was okay.

Review 69:Entire hotel had severe plumbing issues when we arrived which were still not resolved when we left, so we had no water in our room, or any alternatives available. Maybe linked to major on-going renovations. We left one day early. Staff were put in impossible situation and did the best they could.

Review 70:In fairness to the hotel, we were not charged for the night stay.

Review 71:the problem arose when having a bath as the water was rusty coloured and bits filled the bath "twice" and then I couldn't turn off the cold tap, eventually was able to do so. The staff were excellent when the situation was explained and sorted me accordingly. I thought the price of the breakfast was extortionate at £13.95 and didn't take up this offer but chose to eat breakfast in a lovely café in the town a loss to the hotel. The pool was closed for refurbishment which I was told over the phone but wasn't told of the complementary golf as part of the stay otherwise I would have taken my clubs.

Review 72:The bed was enormous and extremely comfortable, quiet lovely location

Review 73:TV difficult to operate in my room. BBC had "No video signal" in all of their channels.

Review 74:Very good room. Friendly, competent staff. Ideal form my requirements.

Review 75:Terrible mould problem along corridors to rooms. Clearly some major ingress and carpets and other decor need binning! Rooms themselves mould free!

Review 76:Staff very helpful - moved us to a better room when we asked for a few extra things like an iron and hair dryer. Delicious breakfast good sausages!

Review 77:Unfortunately the gym, pool and sauna's were in the process of being upgraded so were closed. Also, a minor thing but there was a low level musty smell in the corridors to our room.

Review 78:The fact that we could bring our small dog, and the room that was allocated was excellent, having a door opening directly onto the lawns.

Review 79:Bar food was very average, especially at hotel prices. Swimming pool was closed although we were aware of this when booking.

Review 80:Room was spacious, modern and very clean. Lovely bathroom. Bed and bedding excellent. Staff very pleasant. Would definitely stay again and happy to recommend.

Review 81:I travelled with 85 yr old mum, with limited mobility. Lots of steps over the various floor levels as on sloped site. Staff placed us in room where most steps could be avoided accept for access to restaurant

Review 82:Super location & leisure facilities. Leisure facilities about to be closed for refurbishment- looks like whole hotel is undergoing update

Review 83:Food just OK. Feels more a golf club with hotel as sideline. Dismal response to my report of blown light bulbs and broken ironing board. After no action on first report, the second time response was "I must put that in the maintenance book".

Review 84:Super setting. Amazing views all round - they don't make enough of it. 25 min walk to centre of Tewkesbury and some excellent restaurants, no need to drive. Comfortable jucely furnished rooms.

Review 85:breakfast was only tepid which spoilt the experience of a cooked breakfast. No decent bread just sliced loaves. Newspaper was not delivered to the room. a long way to walk and lots of steps from room to reception and other facilities

Review 86:Was a bit disappointed that the family room consisted of one double and one sofabed, meaning the children had to share. Cue lots of fidgeting and kicking and complaining all night. Also very thin walls and ceilings so could hear doors slamming, toilets flushing and footsteps and voices late at night. Also the power sockets in the next room seemed to be level with the head-end of our bed and kept getting woken by the very loud noise of someone struggling to get a plug in

Review 87:Staff were very friendly. Food at the wedding we were guests at was excellent. Breakfast was exceptional.

Review 88:Probably the price of the breakfast was high .

Review 89:All the staff were 100% commited to making sure our stay was uncomplicated and that we were totally catered for throughout . No request was too much trouble ! Excellent !!!!!

Review 90:Breakfast very over priced and not very hot. I know improvements are being planned and I hope this is one of them. carpets throughout (rooms ok) have seen better days, a little TLC will elevate this hotel.

Review 91:Rooms clean and tidy, great location. we plan to go back again in the near future. Food and drink are reasonable (apart from the Breakfast) and the pool excellent.

Review 92:Hotel is just a little tired. Everything ok, but many things could be improved. Customer Service was a bit hit and miss. Helpful at front desk but gym staff really acted as if they couldn't be bothered.

Review 93:Everything was ok....but nothing was great.

Review 94:After staying I was vegetarian, twice, I was bought a plate of starters with pate on it. Don't think I would stay there again for the price.

Review 95:The wIting staff were very friendly although I feel they were encouraged not to (chat) with customers by therir female superior.

Review 96:Breakfast was not that hot and some guests were using bad language. They were spoken to eventually but it certainly is not good etiquette.

Review 97:Beautiful views relaxing stay. Facilities look excellent although on this occasion we didn't use them.

Review 98:Bathroom seemed rather small and although it had been refurbished it did seem as though perhaps not enought thought had gone into the layout of it.

Review 99:Alistair the receptionist/supervisor/jack of all trades was extremely helpful as were all the other staff.

Review 100:Beds not ready on arrival. Had to have sofa and z bed made up when we got there in our family room. Both additional beds really uncomfortable. One too hard one too sofa. Not enough loo rolls. Corridors and stairs covered in plastic as hotel being done up. Restaurant menu v limited 3 starters, main courses and desserts. For my mum of limited mobility access to rollup and down stairs v hard work. All in all added up to a bad experience

Review 101:Leisure facilities were fine. Enjoyed the golf tennis and swimming

Review 102:The food was terrible and they had run out of everything. We think the Chef had gone home and someone was trying to be the chef instead. The manager did sort it out though and was very nice.

Review 103:The location was great and the leisure facilities that are free to guests are very nice.

Review 104:Think it's sad how run down the hotel has become this is mine and my husbands treat that we do once every year and more for birthdays for our anniversary, have done for the last ten years and we had a shock this year pool area was vile and run down and the snack bar closed the room was great bit run down and most the restaurant was closed. So sad it's lost it's special touch. Wouldn't return now there's better value hotels that include breakfast.

Review 105:I loved the warm reception area the restraunt and the staff of the restraunt.

Review 106:Nothing

Review 107:Staff were first class couldn't do enough for u.clean, quiet at night even though there was a party on. Will be booking again next time will take my clubs

Review 108:no lift to third floor but told that one is to be installed.

Review 109:the surroundings, politeness of the staff, nice quiet atmosphere, we are thinking of travelling over from our home in Spain, and booking over Christmas 2015 after the refurbishment has been finished.

Review 110:The staff were all very helpful and polite, nothing was too much trouble. The location was excellent, easy to find and only minutes from Tewesbury. The food was promptly served and very good. Room was clean and comfortable with super view.

Review 111:It was a lovely early-Victorian mansion, but gutted, modernised and lost all its charm. The bedrooms need updating. The breakfast was at the bottom end of ordinary.

Review 112:Lovely quiet location within easy walk of Tewkesbury

Review 113:Bugs in the room and bathroom. Electric tripped leaving no lights. Hotel has mostly youngsters working. A hotel bar which couldn't find a cork screw after breaking cork on bottle of prosseco. Waited over an hour in dining room for a starter even though it wasn't busy. Should I go on

Review 114:Breakfast

Review 115:Insufficient seats in room. Restaurant very expensive. We should have had bar meals though. Access to the upper floors for the bedrooms was difficult for elderly. The corridors were very lengthy but well signposted.

Review 116:The beds were really wonderful and the view from the window very relaxing in the morning. Parking was easy even in the rain.

Review 117:The duvet was a bit too warm for a mild October.

Review 118:Great location. We were impressed with the speed a light was replaced and a window fixed. Our room was fine and apparently all the rooms will be refurbished by March 2015.

Review 119:Not really negative but some bits are looking tired and although room was clean, some deep cleaning areas missed.

Review 120:Beautiful setting, room was warm and good size with great view, comfortable bed, lovely hot water.

Review 121:Sadly, the older lady on Reception 13/10 was very dour and brusque. No smile or friendly voice tone. The menu for the evening meal was not readily available so we chose not to reserve a table without knowing what we might eat. Cost seems v. high and menu quite spicy. Request for coffee took a long time to achieve although hotel seemed not busy.

Review 122:We have stayed before so know the comfort and facilities are good.

Review 123:Stayed here 2 nights on arrival receptionist was so helpful and friendlythe room was very comfy and very clean excellent choice for evening mealin restaurant or less formal bar menu until 10 pm it was very reasonablypriced and good choice (must thank chef for the garlic butter on myhusbands chips and the Irish coffee )both nights staff were veryfriendly and helpful good pool and lovely grounds 5 stars all round willstay again when heading back for our ferry

Review 124:Facade of a country hotel was just that, a facade. Needs total review, room and facilities upgrade, improve staffing and training levels, wifi coverage, etc

Review 125:Location Helpful staff

Review 126:sewerage smell in corridor adjacent to room 16,main doors left open to bedrooms room full of crane flys.

Review 127:staff in restaurant very obliging waiter and older waitress very attentive.

Review 128:Decided to pay extra for breakfast on our return journey...disappointed to find that very little in the way of fresh fruit etc.was on offer at 9.20, also cooked food barely warm. It would have been helpful to know on the website the charge for 1 small dog (£10 per night) The room lights had a mind of their own! Though some re-furb in progress, which should benefit next season.

Review 129:Finding somewhere that was dog-tolerant was important. Direct access from the room a big help. Lovely grounds, ancient oak trees, views towards Tewkesbury Abbey.

Review 130:Needs refurbishing. There was a damp stain in one corner of our room. It desperately needs a coat of paint.Threadbare carpet in corridor.

Review 131:Lovely location, very peaceful. Staff extremely friendly and helpful.

Review 132:The Hotel is set in the middle of a Golf course, high on a hill overlooking the Malvern Hills and Tewkesbury - simply beautiful! Great sports facilities and lovely friendly staff too. The food was yummy!

Review 133:Bed could have been a little softer and the pillows need replacing. Bathroom could do with being a little larger.

Review 134:Nice size room, room service was very good food delicious. Staff very helpful. Pool nice golf good

Review 135:WiFi could be better, it needs a lift to the top floor and some of the rooms need modernising.

Review 136:It offers all the facilities I want in a nice quiet location.

Review 137:Had major problems with bathroom taps not turning off, just about to flood by the time we did turn it off ! Shower dripping all night. Cups only no saucers on the tea tray- are we in a road side cafe ? Menu needs improving for choices, 1 night ok but you wouldn't eat here more than that at the moment. Just all a bit tatty.

Review 138:Quite situation and potentially lovely garden rooms, with doors out onto the gardens. Potential to be a lovely hotel and we wish the new owners great success to turn it around.

Review 139:Some areas need an upgrade which we believe is in hand.

Review 140:Lovely attentive staff who looked after all our needs. Very responsive to our questions and involved themselves with our conversation. The food in the evening in the restaurant was excellent.

Review 141:The resterant food was very average, and the choice very limited. Some of the limited choice was un available. The bathroom needed updating, bulbs/lights replacing, and green mould removing from bath screen. The wifi was tripping in and out.

Review 142:The staff were very good, polite and very helpfull. The location was amazing the views were beautiful and the grounds very well kept. The facilities were excellent, and the hotel was easy to find.

Review 143:I was disappointed that we didn't get a cot like I requested, there is no lifts so it was had work getting the pram up stairs as we where on the middle floor and it is also in much need of a refurb all over which I think thay have started and could be a bit cleaner around the pool

Review 144:The staff at this hotel are brilliant, the food was lovely, all in all had a wonderful stay with my family
