Reviews for Grange Hotel

Review 1:Shower only worked properly when it was running as a trickle. The same bread was offered for the three days we were there and by the last day it was stale. The full English breakfast only included half a piece of black pudding. It just looked stingy. The menu stated Danish pastries and croissants but we were not offered them on any morning.

Review 2:hotel was clean

Review 3:The fact that I was unable due to time restraints sample the evening menu the breakfast was fantastic and the dinning room and layout was in the top 3 I have ever stayed at

Review 4:Every thing you would expect to find in a hotel was there

Review 5:Can,t understand why this hotel isn't a 4 star. The room was absolutely beautiful, the bed was so comfortable. The food both breakfast and evening meal was excellent.

Review 6:The staff was professional and personable. This is a high-end, classy and gorgeous boutique hotel with outstanding restaurant and tavern, within walking distance of an town full of history, restaurants and shops.

Review 7:There was some noise from vehicles.

Review 8:We were only there overnight as we went to pick up our dog but the food was good & plentiful, we liked Newark which was a short distance and the hotel comfortable.

Review 9:The hotel is a good 15 minute walk from town and the rooms are tired and dated. The room was tiny and the bed was really only the size of 1.5 single beds. The bathroom was also tiny. Our room wasn't cleaned. We had the DND sign out until midday only and were out after that.

Review 10:Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. They made our stay very pleasant

Review 11:There is nothing not to like, it's all very good.

Review 12:Lovely hotel with fantastic staff. Beautiful gardens, lovely room great breakfast wonderful value.

Review 13:The instant hot water heater is located under shower head. This worried me a little about the electric shock by water.

Review 14:The hotel has a beautiful garden and i like the garden view around the room I stayed.

Review 15:Nothing--the whole experience gave us a fine start to our holiday

Review 16:The quality of the room and gardens plus the superb welcome It was simply a fine experience for both of us

Review 17:We would have preferred fruit other than prunes and grapefruit at breakfast. Also we would have liked a choice of fruit yoghurt. We would also have preferred duvet on bed.

Review 18:We thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay and would certainly return. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious, and the proprietors and staff extremely friendly and helpful.

Review 19:Although hotel was clean, very fussy with lots of dusty artificial flowers and a large toy gorilla sitting in reception entrance!

Review 20:Very friendly and helpful staff. I lost my glasses and staff found them and they were posted back to me. Large, comfortable bar/lounge area but it needs a bit of an update.

Review 21:This hotel is a gem in Newark. Very easy to find and get to from the A1, old fashioned in the best sense of the word in that it has character, is warm and welcoming and run by people who own it. I will definitely return.

Review 22:Nothing

Review 23:Very friendly and helpful staff, clean and comfortable room with sympathetic décor for style of property. We requested decaf tea when we booked, and this was on our tea tray in our room when we arrived. Good breakfast!!

Review 24:We wanted a hotel not far from kelham hall as we had booked tickets for a 1940's dinner and dance. This hotel was ideal and only 2 miles away the bedroom was clean and comfortable. The area outside was very relaxing and was nice to sit outside to have our drinks. The gardens are also a plus and imagine in the summer months would be a lovely haven to sit in. The breakfast was good as well.

Review 25:Whenever we are in Newark we always stay at the Grange. It is extremely well run, very comfortable and very good value for money. The staff are exceptional.

Review 26:Rather cramped bathroom. It was easy to bang your head when having a shower (although to be fair there was a sign to warn you).

Review 27:Nice cosy room. Friendly welcome. Good breakfast.

Review 28:The whole hotel was very clean and organised. Nothing was too much trouble and the rooms are brilliant. This is the place to stay and we will be back. I have no hesitation in recommending Grange hotel and i travel a lot so am quite choosy. The lady of the house is a star!!.

Review 36:Bed far to soft for me, room overly cluttered, even a trouser press in it! No view from bedroom window. Bathroom needs re-grouting to get rid of mould around tiles.

Review 40:First class, charming service. Dinner and Breakfast superb. Peacefully quiet. Beautiful, tranquil gardens. Best shower my wife has had in years. Both of us slept extremely well. Excellent car parking. One of the best private hotels we have stayed in.

Review 41:We checked out on a sunday -no taxis available even though I called 6companies. The hotel had a small sign about taxis on sundays hidden onthe side of the counter which was not seen before we were leaving. Thestaff knew we were checking out on sunday and could have flagged thetaxi issue with us the night before. My 81 year old mother and I had towalk to the bus stop over one km away with LUGGAGE.because of this wemissed breakfast.

Review 44:Desk staff very good and polite and efficient on check out

Review 45:In a north facing bedroom the décor was somewhat dark and dowdy on first appearance. The bathroom however made up for it and was excellent light, bright and spacious. Awkward fire doors on the immediate approach to our room No.10. Poor quality of rump steak at dinner

Review 46:Clean spacious room. Excellent bathroom. Friendly staff. The Secret garden. Well prepared and served cooked dinner and breakfasts. Convenient car park

Review 47:WiFi did not work in our room, but to be fair it was the provider not the hotel's fault.

It is well placed being close to Newark's town centre and with easy access to the A1.The hidden garden is a special delight.
