Reviews for Balquhidder Braes Holiday Park

Review 1:The caravan park which was immediately in front of our lodge was very unkemp, walking past it appeared very run down, a lot of rubbish lying around, made the location less desirable.

Review 2:Lodge itself was lovely, very cosy and comfortable.

Review 3:Richard was lovely before we went and gave us great instructions of how to get there, couldn't have been made easier! The lodges are beautiful, comfortable, clean, VERY warm and ideally located for exploring the surrounding areas. Compared to other self-catering places, this really earned its money!

Review 4:Only a couple of mild disappointments on arrival. The bulb for the standing lamp in livingroom didn't work and no DVD player as described. Plenty of freeview sky channels made up for it.

Review 5:The hot tub was obviously the highlight despite the rain and cold weather. It was fantastic. Toastie warm with massage jets and rainbow lights. Loved it. The cabin was very comfortable, clean and modern with everything you could need in the kitchen.

Review 6:The weather made the site a tad muddy , the fact we had to go home ..

Review 7:Handy location for what we needed , very scenic part of the country , cabin was very comfortable and staff very helpfull .

Review 8:had to ask for towels, they weren't included... But as soon as we asked for them, they were given to us straight away

Review 9:Very well equipped, convenient especially for families

Review 10:The holiday park was a bit run down needed some tidying up.

Review 11:The hot tub although it broke down the 2nd night. Great location the cabin was modern and comfy.

Review 12:The sound of the road outside was surprisingly loud. It's a main tourist road connecting The Trossachs so was heavily used during the day, and sadly the noise was pretty invasive. Sensitivity to road noise differs for most people, and what was noticeable to us may not be to someone else. It didn't ruin our stay. The area is still the most beautiful in the United Kingdom, and with the nicest and friendliest people by far in the UK, and deserves a visit from everyone.

Review 13:The close proximity to local villages, and bigger cities and towns are still close for tourist purposes. Cabins are beautiful inside and very cozy and comfortable, well equipped. Parking is available right outside the cabin. The view from the cabin was beautiful. The stay was very easy, checking in and checking out at our convenience made everything easy.

Review 14:Very comfortable, well apportioned and well laid out cabin (cabin 4). Comfortable and good sized living and kitchen/dining area. Master bedroom of a good size and ensuite bigger than some modern houses! Showers and hot water were fully functional (this is the fourth cabin I have stayed in in different locations in Scotland and all the others had dodgy hot water and showering facilities - this was great). The surrounding countryside, walks, hills and lochs are stunning and there is plenty to do if you enjoy the outdoors. The Rob Roy Way is a great walk, although we only had time to do the circuit shown in the folder in Cabin 4 and a little way into Glen Ogle. I wouldn't hesitate in returning to Balquhidder Braes!

Review 15:When I booked the cabin it said it was pet friendly so I took my 6 monthold Labrador puppy. Unfortunately he was attacked by the owners dog andI believe this wasn't the first time this has happened as I was toldthat this dog normally only attacks bitches and not dogs. In the rulehandbook it says that all dogs are to be kept on a lead so whywasn't the owners kept on a lead.

Review 16:The log cabin was excellent value for money. The kitchen was wellsupplied, beds comfortable, good heating and good location. There was avery nice restaurant about 200 yards down the road with good food andvery friendly staff

Review 17:Sometimes the hot water was not enough for all of us when using the shower.

Review 18:Beautiful Lodge in gorgeous Surroundings. Lodge is fully equipped with everything you need.

Review 19:Well equipped cabin, home-from-home comfort, even hairdryer provided! Perfect for family two night stay to attend a wedding locally, loved to have stayed longer. Peaceful setting in the trees. Secure access system ideal if uncertain of arrival time. Owner very helpful and accommodating.

Review 20:Unfortunately although Richard was a brilliant host and respondedimmediately we had a catalogue of problems.1. The boiler kept cutting out so we had intermittent hot water and heating 2. The kitchen was not well kitted out with utensils etc. 3. The dog urinated in the lounge while Richard was replacing the old dishwasher which when we put it on shorted all the electrics and also left dog mess on our decked balcony. 4. The grounds were very overgrown and needed serious attention and our balcony was broken in places with weeds growing through the decking. 5. The chalet has huge potential as does the site but we felt it was in need of a serious make over and upgrading. It was a little tired.

Review 21:We liked the location as it suited where we wanted to explore. The bed was very comfortable. Richard was an excellent host and responded to our endless phone calls about the problems we were having immediately.

Review 22:I didn't realise that when I booked it the cabins were so close to the main road. It didn't really make a difference but not as remote as I had hoped. My own fault I should have looked a little harder

Review 23:We liked the cabin, very nice and spacious, and the surroundings were nice. Everything you could want inside the cabin.

Review 24:The mattress was just a little too soft for us but that's just cause I have a sore back.

Review 25:It was beautifully set out, plenty of space for a family, the on site hot tub was amazing and the views were just so relaxing. I will be going back at some time in the near future .

Review 26:If staying for longer, would miss having a washing machine although there is a laundrette on the campsite.

Review 27:Lovely location and the cabin was spacious and clean. We didn't use the kitchen as we were staying for a short time. The cabin was warm and the gas stove was great. The showers were excellent .

Review 28:Lovely little cabin, everything was nice and clean and it was great to have a kitchen. The hot tub was a bonus! Don't think you could do better for £20 pppn for a weekend in June.

Review 29:Surroundings could be better cared for eg pruning of bushes so that notices could be read and cutting of grass/ weeding would make a difference to overall impression.?

Review 30:Cabins very clean ,well equipped and comfortable. Good eating places nearby and walking/ cycling opportunities very good

Review 31:You will need to take a tea towel !! Don't forget your tea and coffee !! These things I forgot !!! Shop 5 mins drive , problem solved

Review 32:The views, and a good location.

Review 33:The internet didn't work very well, but I think it was a new system that was being tested out.

Review 34:The cabins were very nice and very comfortable with more room than expected. The kitchen had all the utensils we needed, and anything we lacked could be called for by using the intercom down at the reception office.

Review 35:The sofas were rather shabby and worn, very noisy during the night due to being so close to the main road, too remote for us.

Review 36:We had everything we needed in the log cabin,

Review 37:only downfall we had this time was two dogs running around , and got dog poo right outside our door .

Review 38:we had a lovely long weekend weather was not too bad either , this is the second time we have been and will certainly be back ..

Review 39:We have a small dog and the owners dog kept running round loose so we were very nervous walking our dog as their dog ran up to the lodge and snarled at our dog

Review 40:Comfort of the lodge

Review 41:Upon arrival checking out the kitchen's resources became a bit of a hunt the pot challenge as everything all over the place so unclear what there was with a few random things that weren't that useful. The switch on the gas oven was due for replacement after our stay so meant using it felt a bit precarious so changed our cooking plans.

Review 42:The lodge felt spacious and very comfortable with fantastic views. We particularly enjoyed the hot tub with clear skys and a twinkling of snow. Richard was very helpful and approachable. Visiting the local MHOR cafe/restuarant is a must for food and folk entertainment!

Review 43:Reading other people's negative reviews that expect 5 star luxury on the side of a hill for £200.00. You get what you pay for and we would use these facilities again.

Review 44:We liked that we had home comforts, plenty of living space along side stunning views, lots to see and do. Area was very quiet and made a great retreat. Very practical and very comfortable.

Review 45:Double bed was very uncomfortable as you ended up rolling to the middle of bed. Kids swing park was a little bit small

Review 46:Excellent size Great equipment in the kitchen Friendly dogs which my kids loved

Review 47:It was a little too close to the road, so traffic noise was unexpected. But if you are looking for solitude, go higher up into the Trossachs.

Review 48:The cabin was well appointed and easy to use. The staff was helpful and kind. It was fine for a two day visit.

Review 49:My only complaint was I hadnt a phone of internet signal but I did suspect this when I booked so wasnt a problem.

Review 50:The use of the hot tub with changing cabin, standard of cleanliness, location, staff.

Review 51:The shower was a nightmare over flowing until we lifted the plughole and seen that it was blocked with hair. You also need to watcj your footing on the decking as is very slippery.

Review 52:Warm cosy cabin.

Review 53:- noise from the A84 - beds are not that comfortable - wifi rather weak and slow

Review 54:- lots of space - bathroom and kitchen clean and modern - great views (if it wasn't for the proximity of the noisy road) - easy access to Rob's Roy cycling path

Review 55:The manager was very helpful before we got to the cabin with golf courses that were close or nearby. Made sure that we were settled in. Was very accommadating on the day we left. Let us stay extra time so that my sons could go fishing. Was an extremely good time had by all.

Review 56:The kitchen was very basic. Some items needed upgrading. Location was nice views but not much around to do. Nearest supermarket about 20 mins drive. No phone signal!

Review 57:The customer service was excellent. The beds were very comfortable. Generally very tidy and clean.

Review 58:The cabin was suitable for our needs and there was a lovely café just across the road so I did not have to cook. Location good and easy to get to Glasgow and Sterling.

Review 59:Lots of tears having to leave buddy behind

Review 60:Buddy the site dog was the highlight. He adopted us and slept over for three nights , which my children loved

Review 61:only slight issue is that it is located just off the main road so a little noisy but not much you can do about that

Review 62:spacious and well equipped cabin. Good location for exploring.

Review 63:The cabin was in need of refurbishment, carpets stained. The frying pan was worn out and no lids for some of the saucepans. Had hoped to do waterskiing locally but nothing available, had to travel to Loch Lomand.

Review 64:The shower room was a great size but had difficulty adjusting the temperature of the water.

Review 65:to remote

Review 73:The lodge was lovely.

Review 74:had to ask for can opener there in two mins thats service

Review 75:Got rushed to leave although a late check out was pre arranged

Review 76:Good walks close by

Review 77:Reception office in run down condition. Poor maintenance of grounds. Next to main road.

Review 86:no washing machine in the cabin

Review 87:Clean and cosy log cabin, ideal for small families

Review 88:The whole site could do with a bit of updating.

Review 89:Nice log cabin with good shower.

Review 90:The Wifi needs to be improved reception/speed was very poor. Ok if it was a free service but not when you have to pay

Review 91:Nice quiet very relaxing

Review 92:Too close to the road. The traffic noise was awful and spoilt the holiday a bit.

Review 93:The cabin and the area.

Review 95:The quietness hardly seen anyone

Review 116:Great Location for a Great Commonwealth Games

Review 117:Cabin had everything we required

Review 118:Excellent and friendly staff, cosy and very clean accomodation, Buddy the dog :)

Review 119:Slow internet provided by a third party that wasn't free.

Review 120:Beautiful views, friendly owners and near running trails.

Review 121:Some maintenance issues, eg, bedroom doors wouldn't close, tap in bathroom sink needed new washer, fridge and kettle neede renewing. We reported and hopefully will be dealt with. Very near the main road so noise of traffic

Review 122:Quality of the cabins were excellent.

Review 123:Dogs from onsite wandering about and sitting on our verandah and outside the doors.

Review 124:The location was easy to find and excellent for touring. Good cooking facilities including our own barbeque. There was satellite TV to catch up with the news and weather as well as wifi (though this was an extra charge).

Review 125:Proximity to the road but to be fair only noticed traffic noise the first night.

Review 126:Lodges are excellent and have most things you would need for a holiday. If we had been there longer would have preferred a washing machine rather than a dishwasher
