Reviews for Lothersdale Hotel
Review 1:The radiator in the bathroom didn't work although this was reported it was not repaired and the window did not shut tightly making the bathroom very cold. Don't accept room No.39 unless the weather is hot.
Review 2:It is near the Town.
Review 3:Nothing to dislike!
Review 4:We have a disabled daughter so it was our first break in years and it was amazing staff so friendly cocktail bar to die for food amazing just an all round fab night and nights sleep too!
Review 5:It seemed to be disorganised on arrival only giving us 1 room instead of 2. We booked a double super deluxe room and a single room both advertised with sea views but were only located the double super deluxe room. Our friend he was upgraded to a small double room but this didn't have a sea view and then got charged for this. Thankfully it was reimbused. The car park is not very big either and the road down to this is very narrow. Also wasn't keen on sitting in the bar area to eat our Tapas - would have preferred the restaurant.
Review 6:The food was perfectly cooked - tapas on Friday and the meal in the restaurant on Saturday also. The breakfast was really nice too. The service from the waiter on Saturday night was very good also. The rooms were nice and spacious with a fantastic seaview. The beds were comfortable also.
Review 7:We didn't know they were in the middle of refurbishing we were not informed the builders didn't start work until 9 am but the work was right above our room very noisy and one night they didn't finish until 7.45pm.It would have been a very nice gesture if we had had a small discount for the inconvenience but no nothing.
Review 8:The location.
Review 9:Other guests paid less and got breakfast included because we went through booking.com and not to hotel direct very angry. Also room next door was being renovated workmen working late and early so got no lie in after our funeral also very annoying.
Review 10:Sea view was stunning
Review 11:We ordered some tapas and we're charged £7 for two"kebabs" that consisted of four prawns, two pieces of chorizoand a chunck of pepper in total. Very poor value for money. We thenweren't served to pay our bill as there was no one in thebar/restaurant so we had to leave. &Quot;FREE WIFI" doesn'twork what so ever.
Review 12:The room was a good size and clean
Review 13:Bedroom needs upgraded. Confusion with car parking.
Review 14:Sea View Room. Very handy for everything. Room nice and warm.
Review 15:soft furnishings in room very poor . bathroom modern, but bedroom needs updating curtains old etc.
Review 16:having a sea view. bar and bistro very nice . bathroom modern good shower.
Review 17:Room a bit small;- ok for short stay. We would stay there again.
Review 18:Sea view room. Good breakfast. Paid separately for evening meal which was good value and excellent quality. Excellent value for money
Review 19:Using post code given takes you to car park at back but unable to gain entry via car park . A 10 min walk round to front entrance. Arrived 50 mins before check in after very long journey , offered by reception staff could leave case in hall, as we had to get off , as assured desk always manned. However later on when needing help at front desk rang x5 to get attention to be told staff were having their dinner and cover staff unaware desk was unmanned. On returning to hotel later on wanted to buy a drink in bar staff member who was new had to go off to find out if this was ok. On requesting crisps to eat with drink was informed they had run out! Breakfast next morning was ok but my partner who ordered kippers which stated came with egg of choice and tomato had neither of these. No staff member present to mention this too when finally appeared kippers had already been eaten.
Review 20:Room location and comfort were good.
Review 21:If you run a hotel and someone comes to you and says that the shower in the room is not working, I would say walking away from someone without resolving the problem is not great customer service. My brother in law spoke to someone who was clearly not having a good day and that is allowed. but not resolving the issue and then charging his credit card for the stay when all the facilities advertised were not available to him was a bit much. He had come to support me at my Fathers funeral and I recommended the hotel to him. I won't be recommending the hotel to anyone in the future.
Review 22:the location, the hotel itself
Review 23:Nothing. I'll go again
Review 24:I just decided to go at the last minute and was reasonably price room. I got a free upgrade to a double room. I didn't get a sea view this time, but the room was nice, clean and I had a good nights sleep. Oh, there's free parking at the rear.
Review 25:Really enjoyed are stay we were recommended by my daughter and son in law who enjoy it here that much they stay up to three times a year, will defo be returning thanks for a.great stay
Review 26:Expensive beer. A pound cheaper in the bar down the road.
Review 27:Lovely room, modern and clean. Very quiet, had a great night sleep. I've stayed in a lot of different hotels in Morecambe, this one had the best room by far.
Review 28:The beds in our room could do with new mattresses.
Review 29:The staff were friendly and helpful. There was car parking on site, we had dinner in the restaurant and there was a great choice and the food and service was excellent. The wifi was good in our room as well.
Review 30:Nothing to dislike.
Review 31:Thought the price was ideal for this time of year. Food was brilliant room was excellent and staff were great. Would recommend this hotel to friends.
Review 32:Free Wi-Fi, amazing choice of cocktails, reasonable prices, excellent food, parking on site, staff couldn't do enough for us and to top it all a fantastic sea view!
Review 33:large comfortable room, friendly staff, good food and drinks (have a Death's Door gin & tonic), great view, close to beach and town, car parking. we wanted for nothing.
Review 34:The fact that another guest left for work at 04:30 am in the morning and woke me up and the staff knew about this.
Review 35:I booked this at last minute and found the price really good value for the accommodation provided.
Review 36:Kettle brown algae in bottom of kettle filty/ BATHROOM/dangerousshower head/ towel rail /hanging off wall/broken walltiles/filthy bath mat. Receptionist told me she spent 45 mincleaning the room I did not get into the room until 10pm. Fumes frombleach suffocating. I asked to be moved Receptionist said hotel was full(Quite untrue) Dining room I set my own table (4 tables full of dirtycrockery) waited 30 min for breakfast. One young person serving. Noimprovement on day two. Afternoon met the owner Paul I mentioned thestate of the bedroom etc.I Was accused of being a trouble maker and toldto leave. I asked for a refund of £43.95 he said that would be done whenI returned the key. On return he was not available and the receptionistsaid I was to contact the booking agent (you) by then my friend hadarrived to collect me. I found alternative accommodation. That was theday Morecambe had a fierce gale. My son had to come to collect me afterwork on the Tues. I was too upset and distressed to travel home bytrain. This past week I have been quite ill chest pains and swollenglands caused by fumes from the cleaning fluids. My 1st and last time toMorecambe. Typing this response I find extremely distressing.
Review 37:Nothing
Review 38:Very enjoyable stay, the Lothersdale Hotel is making many efforts and improvements to appeal to guests. Would stay there again next time in Morecambe.
Review 39:I had a bit of trouble adjusting the temperature of the shower. Tap was stiff.
Review 40:Very convenient for the railway station, centre of town and the sea front. Great view over Morecambe bay. Nice quiet room, despite being on a main road. Comfortable bed. Friendly helpful staff. The bar waiter was particularly helpful.
Review 41:the car parking around the back was a bit awkward, having a conferance room, were you have to go through to get to the car park, when in use you could not use the exit, you had to walk around the block to the back 5 to 10 min walk depending on age.
Review 42:We like the room with the sea view. the staff were quite friendly and helpful. The food was also very good.
Review 43:Greeting on arrival was curt. The room was not fully prepared. My parents wiped down their bathroom before use. On two days we had to request that the tea tray was replenished and collected this ourselves from the bar. The Wifi was intermittent at best and non existent most of the time. Toast at breakfast was burnt on the first day and was warm bread on the last day. On the last morning we had to rearrange table to sit together at breakfast as did other couples breakfasting together. TV volume lock was a good idea but couldn't hear it on the Friday due to noise from music in bar area Restaurant food was returned to be reheated Continental breakfast was cereal, yoghurt and pastries! Breakfast served on cold plates meant it cooled rapidly.
Review 44:Magnificent sea views and sunsets, (tho noisy road) Lifts were helpful for elderly parents Full breakfast was tasty
Review 45:Parking is a bit tough for us since their car park is too small.
Review 46:Their restuarant - Aspect is very good compare to surrounding area. We enjoy it very much. Their duck confit, their lamb are excellent.
Review 47:Work desk chairs not fit for purpose, far too low to reach the desk - hence could not work. Two chairs left out in the single passageway leading to fire escape. Matra 'D or head of service demeaning the staff behind their backs in front of customers
Review 48:The reception and bar personnel were very hospitable. Warm surroundings
Review 49:Very cold receptionist , with a broken record about "your reserve was booking.com, cheapest rate available". Chip and pretensious bad taste
Review 50:The hotel is the typical British runned down enterprise. A mixture of the fifties and bad wifi. You are anticipating seeing pictures of Morris Oxford car models on the walls, mixed with chip materials. Nowhere in World this would be a 3 star hotel. The reception service was cold, had to change rooms, could not fit in the bathroom,. Asked for a cocktail in the bar, on the list, they didn't have all the ingredients. Basically the Hotel pretends to be something that they are not.
Review 51:The hotel is a bit dated but perfectly acceptable and generally clean. Odd stair layout could be a bit confusing . Great view straight over the bay at the front of hotel but a bit grim out the back (over the car park) . All in all a decent place to stay.
Review 52:We only stayed 1 night to drop off son at Lancaster Uni and the hotel was a welcome rest after 5 hour drive. The meal in the restaurant was excellent and staff were very friendly. The reception and restaurant have been modernised and are very pleasant. Didn't have time to stop for breakfast but it looked very tasty.
Review 53:-The hotel room was dirty -there were wires hanging out of the walls -the toilet seat was hanging off -the head board wasn't attached -the beds were squeaky -the staff weren't helpful
Review 54:leaving
Review 55:We only stayed 2 nights, but it's was lovely, beautiful surroundings, lovely view, everything u need close by and receptionist there 24hrs a day if you need anything, nice and friendly bar staff, will definitely stay again.
Review 56:Broken sleep due to staff popping out quite late for a chat under the bedroom window (Room 5). The GOOD part of this though is I can tell you, you have very loyal staff committed to quality service: all the chat was about work and how to do their best!! Nothing negative was said at all!
Review 57:The standard of the food in the restaurant is excellent and was a very pleasant surprise. Way above average - up there with the best haute cuisine.
Review 58:Well it wasnt expensive so I guess you have to take that in to account. My room (2) was pretty small and was over the kitchen so it got very hot in there...And the carpark was full, the staff were not very helpful about that. I found out myself that if you park over the road in the public carpark after 6pm, the charge doesnt start until 10am in the morning, worth minding. Other than these, pretty good value for money paid.
Review 59:Cant beat the location or the price. Fabulous views from the lounge or restaurant over the bay. Room was comfy enough with a decent TV..
Review 60:Excellent bedroom Good beds but sheets were too small for the deep mattresses hope this can be rectified as it spoilt a good nights sleep
Review 61:Position of hotel with wonderful views over Morecambe Bay Comfortable lounge area Good breakfast Parking at rear usually available Had a wonderful sea view from the bedroom and an annex sitting area
Review 62:Being on ground floor.not having a nice view.looking at a bit of wall & road ,not asked if that was ok.Having to pay extra for breakfast, didn't know it was not included. It should of been .
Review 63:Friendly staff, good shower plenty hot water.tea & few biscuits in my room. Location near sea.
Review 64:1) WIFI did not work in room
Review 65:1) Private car park 2) Location 3) Excellent quality breakfast 4) Friendly and helpful staff 5) Room was reasonable standard, bathroom a little dated
Review 66:Tired decor; lack of a fan in a non-air conditioned room in summer; no breakfast available before 0800 at weekends; reception staff unable to use credit card machine; promised car park was full during stay - had to pay to park across main road.
Review 67:Spacious, clean accommodation; extensive cocktail menu; excellent food.
Review 68:Nothing of note
Review 69:This hotel is very placed on the seafront in a very central position, the room was very clean and quite cosy. If im in the area again then i would definatly consider staying again.
Review 70:being away from the noise and close enough to the center. Excellent friendly staff -nothing was too much trouble. Nice outside sitting area as it was very warm in the evening. Bar prices reasonable .
Review 71:The fact the Hotel website dresses the place as relatively modern for it's 'traditional' location but on arrival the overwhelming sense of disappointment. How a business that provides a 1970s look, style and standard of service and scant disregard for any modern understanding or level of cleanliness survives the present century, is simply beyond me.
Review 72:Very little
Review 73:All was ok but could not book the room at the hotel as cheap as going to bookin.com why!
Review 74:Great room looking over the bay, staff where great and will use again
Review 75:I was on the top floor. Lift was good but directions on how to get out via the stairs would have been helpful as prefer to use them.Wandered around for some time before getting out. Simple instructions on how to use the TV would have been useful.
Review 76:Quiet room, restaurant looked nice although I didn't use it.
Review 77:The room was dirty the sheets were stained the bathroom was disgusting there was noise all night with people in the corridors when we complained the next morning the lady said we should have informed them straight away and they would have done something about it but it was late when we got in and unfortunately put up with it she didn't really accept that there was a problem. Worse hotel experience I have ever had.
Review 78:Overpriced food in the restaurant, mediocre service.
Review 79:Location and parking facilities
Review 80:No bad experiences at all
Review 81:The friendly staff. The comfortable lounge area. The view across the bay.
Review 82:Shower hot water gone after few minutes.
Review 83:Room renewed. new carpets, new bathroom high standard, Bar downstairs open up to midnight. Rear car park
Review 84:The room was very small and it was lucky that I have a good memory faces - there was no mirror in the bathroom!!
