Reviews for Lovat Arms Hotel

Review 1:We waited a long time at reception to check in, only for member of staff to answer and deal with a phone call in front of us with no apology for our long wait. The bed was uncomfortable, the sheets were poor quality and worn. There was ripped upholstery on bedroom furniture. The pipes were very noisy, and a lot of noise travelled from other rooms. We had a very sleepless night, due to snoring coming from another room and then early morning noise, eg plugs being plugged in on the other side of the wall. The hotel is tired but with some love and attention would be a great base for exploring the area.

Review 2:Lack of follow up to a request in dining room. Moved table when asked without thanks. Lack of warmth from staff. Severe rationing of toilet paper for last 24hrs. Rabbit warren like passage and narrow staircase to our room. (Room not cheap.) No biscuits to accompany coffee and tea.

Review 3:Staircase from ground floor grand and inviting. Fish meal lovely. Tartan decor and theme pleasant.

Review 4:I booked for a double bed and got two twin beds... The internet did not work and and no one seemed to care.

Review 5:The setting was nice and the hotel was clean

Review 6:Decor was excellent, staff were very nice and helpful, location was good; close enough to Inverness and Loch Ness but far enough away in a quiet setting. We did a day trip to Skye and Elean Donan castle from the hotel

Review 7:The only minor failing was the antiquated plumbing. Everything worked fine but there were some alarming banshee-like noises from the pipes at odd times.

Review 8:The location is excellent. The staff were very helpful and left me alone except when I needed them. .

Review 9:The bed in room 6 was not comfortable ! It felt like I was sleeping on the floor it was so hard !

Review 10:Like the town of Beauly in general. Lovely , relaxed place set in beautiful countryside.

Review 11:Room 2 very special. Had dinner in hotel very good. The South African waiter who served dinner and breakfast gave exceptional service. He also checked us in and out .His service would be the reason to return,

Review 12:long wait at reception on arrival. I had to press the bell two/three times before anyone appeared. very small bathroom in my room.

Review 13:The friendly staff. The food was excellent

Review 14:Nothing

Review 15:Second stay here in the last year. It may only be classed as 3 star hotel but has character and charm that you don't find in your chain hotels of same rating

Review 16:Cleanliness or rather lack of it! Shower had had black mould on it, reported it but not changed in three days. Carpet was threadbare, curtains were hanging off hooks making it impossible to shut. Staff were, at best, taciturn.

Review 17:Historic building, well located for local tourist attractions, tastefully furnished

Review 18:The bathroom was very dated and very basic. The hot water in the shower did not even come on for 7-8 min and then the pressure was unsteady. Sometimes hot and sometimes cold.

Review 19:I liked the building from the outside. Very pretty. I liked the look of the lobby, nice with all of the tartan curtains etc. The room had nice tartan fabric on chairs and curtains. The front desk staff came upstairs quickly when we had a problem with the lamps.

Review 20:Staff very helpful and friendly. Food good. Very convenient for our travel in the area. Nice facility. Loved Beaully especially the abbey. Would recommend it for a pleasant vacation stop.

Review 21:The breakfast was average, the coffee was awful and cold . The beds wereso hard I woke up with a bad back every morning. The decor was probablyvery nice when it was new but it's quite shabby now.My sons'room was in the 'attic' and very small. On checking out the cardmachine wasn't working and the poor receptionist got so flusteredbecause a queue was forming. I was told my card was invalid and so wasmy sons', she tried her own card and realised the fault was withthem when hers' came back the same, it took a long time to sort outand we were in a hurry.

Review 22:Lovat Arms is situated in a beautiful part of Scotland, the dinner wasquite nice but pricey

Review 23:The staff are local, which is always good to see, until you realise that they are all badly trained and managed. From reception which was unstaffed and unanswered, to dinner when a mild complaint about badly overcooked steak was met with an embarrassed titter and no action, it was clear that guests have to take what they get and expectations will just go unmet. The overall standard of the food was pretty poor for the price charged. The bedroom was noisy, the beds are cheap and hard, so an early awakening is unavoidable. A group of Italians in a coach party struggled with mutual incomprehension on both sides.

Review 24:Not much apart from the location. Parking outside was a minor plus. The bathroom was adequate and appeared clean. Staff were friendly, but that does not make up for poor overall training.

Review 25:We booked a twin with a bathtub but got a double with a shower. After our complaint we got a large room with ample space (a double and a single), a bathroom with a shower and a bathtub. All situated on the second floor with no lift available and on the other end of the hotel. The sink in the bathroom was blocked and stayed blocked all the days despite the fact, that we had complained about it. Furthermore there was a big spot of mould (about 15x30 cm) above the footage of the single bed, which was eventually removed by trying to wipe it away. But the room still smelled and at the end of the 3 days the mould startet to appear again. They offered to move to another room but we did not want to move all our belongings over serveral staircases again.

Review 26:Coming from Germany on a holiday trip we stayed for 3 nights in the Lovat Arms Hotel and we wished we had not. Unfortunately there is nothing we could recommend on.

Review 27:That we had to leave.

Review 28:Lovely clean hotel with a fantastic Scottish feel. The Crofters playing live in the bar was just perfect for getting us in the mood for Belladrum festival. Staff were very helpful and polite. The cooked breakfast was very fresh and cooked perfectly! Will defintely be returning or recommending to anyone who is planning to stay in the area. Keep it up Lovat Arms.

Review 53:Breakfast was a very poor DIY everything with very little healthy choices Staff were a bit casual

Review 54:Location Clean Wifi Comfort

Review 55:Beautiful room Clean Good food Dog friendly

Review 56:really need a proper shower these days rather than bath with shower attachment.

Review 57:friendly staff

Review 58:The staff were excellent, particularly the receptionist who seemed to do everything.

Review 59:Nothing. Excellent value for money Not sure if wifi available or not but mobile phone signal was poor

Review 60:Price excellent Staff I dealt with all very helpful Very good location on the main street in Beauly. I spent 2 nights in a twin room which was clean an comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities in room Although I did not have dinner the menu looked very good with a nice selection of vegetarian options. They also offer a full vegetarian breakfast which was excellent. Although a wee bit dated the hotel is brightly painted and fresh throughout.

Review 61:Breakfast disappointing. Cooked breakfast not hot - and had been sitting a while.

Review 62:One night stay on way back from Hebrides. Very comfortable - very good dinner - friendly and attentive staff. Lovely room.

Review 63:Being put on the third floor rather than the second floor rooms

Review 64:Have stayed in this hotel whilst on business previously and just as always the staff and the hotel could not be faulted. Was not impressed this time to be on the top floor as I usually am on the second floor but room was still very comfortable.

Review 65:The service in the bar for ordering a meal. The waitress who was on her own was very slow and seemed rushed off her feet to keep up with the demand. I waited for over 20 minutes to order a sweet from the menu and in the end I gave up as the waitress had forgotten about my order. The room was pleasant but the bed was very hard and uncomfortable and there were no spare pillows in the cupboard so sleeping on a flat pillow was very uncomfortable.

Review 66:I liked the location of the hotel and the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. Liked the room and the bar area and enjoyed listening to Blazing Fiddles rehearsing but it got a bit tedious after a while, especially whilst eating my meal.

Review 67:The price !! Just like all hotels they put the price up when they think they can get away with it....like at big local events.

Review 68:Traditional Highland hotel. Staff (especially the locals) very good and accomodating. Everything was good....tablet served with afternoon tea was not as good as I can make...will send you my recipe if you like!! BUT the Cullen Skink was very good.

Review 69:I was happy with everything - it was the accommodation I needed

Review 70:Hotel was comfortable Extremely pleasant staff Food very good with wide choice and nicely served Good location in centre of Beauly Beauly was a good centre for touring, attractive and clean

Review 71:Very comfortable and good atmosphere.

Review 72:very friendly staff and good comfortable hotel, definatly stay again

Review 73:Bed was very hard, toilet was far too small. Had to wait ages at reception to check in.

Review 74:Staff were friendly and food was lovely

Review 75:Difficult to find off street parking.

Review 76:Comfortable bed and room Beautiful town Evening meal good for value Hotel is Easy to find

Review 77:Annex rooms well apportioned but basic. Service time too long due to coach parties in hotel

Review 78:We liked the location. It was just the local pub which we liked abut a little expensive. Good service and friendly staff.

Review 79:Friendly staff, good value for short break
