Reviews for Tudor House Hotel – RelaxInnz

Review 1:We had only two nights there. Wish we could have more time!

Review 2:Lovely hotel, Tudor beams, Tudor atmosphere everywhere. Central location, bus stops just outside the hotel and car park in the rear. Good pubs to eat delicious food for reasonable price. Tewkesbury is a must-see town.

Review 3:Nothing at all

Review 4:Everything about the hotel rooms were very clean nice comfy bed great shower staff very helpful and friendly very good choice of breakfast

Review 5:Very dated, regretted paying extra for the four poster room in the separate building-not worth extra. Guest in floor below playing TV loud and able to hear it very easily through walls (asked to turn down but did not make much difference). Shower did not work first time, went and had breakfast and came back and it was just a dribble... Eventually after approx 3-5mins it worked, not very strong though. One handle missing in bath. Cheap toilet paper. An assortment of teas in room may have been a nice touch. Cobwebs and spiders in inside of window. Lighting on wall above sofa-one lamp didn't work.

Review 6:Location/breakfast/car parking/staff/cleanliness

Review 7:The room we have when we stay is ideal for us, the staff and managers are all fantastic, entertainment, buffet and atmosphere at new years eve was excellent had wonderful break away at the tudor!!!

Review 8:Customer service wasn't good, Noise levels between rooms very high, to the point you can hear someone going to the toilette too well and the mattresses are not up to scratch. We asked to change rooms and the receptionist was soooo unhelpful. Also, one of the rooms the knob on the radiator was broken and it was set very high, we couldn't sleep!

Review 9:Location

Review 10:No wi-Fi in the room - website promised it - wouldn't have booked if I'd known. The bedside lamp was broken and we weren't offered a replacement

Review 11:Liked the hotel and its location - nice feel

Review 12:No Sunday lunch vegetarian option other than cheese tart or sandwich as a light lunch . Breakfast was a 45 min wait for us and the other patrons in the dining room

Review 13:Beautiful four poster bedroom

Review 14:All very tired and short on staff by the look of things, forgot me at breakfast. Heating full on in the room and no way of turning it down, had to sleep with both windows wide open. Warm water came out of cold tap and hot tap rotated on basin.....

Review 15:Convenient location

Review 16:The black mould in the shower and the fact we were not told we were in an annexe and not there main hotel. There was a bit of someone's elses biscuit on the floor so it obviously had not been vacuumed. Also for a double room it was very cramped

Review 17:Food was good and staff friendly

Review 18:Only thing is the new managers don't really appear to be that pleasant not like the mangers that used to be there before but don't see them much anyway,

Review 19:Lovely staff as always brilliant bunch of people! Room and shower ideal food very nice, thanks for a fab stay

Review 20:No tea or coffee pots for breakfast. Our room temperature fine, but our two companion couples room temperature couldn't be controlled. Way Way too hot.

Review 21:Friendly staff

Review 22:Perhaps it was just unluckily the room we had, but overlooking the road, the windows were grimy and the net curtains torn and ‘grey’. The room itself was hot, so we turned down the radiator... contrarily the towel rail in the en suite was not working, despite our efforts. The shower hose ‘squirted water’ and the silicone around the tray was discoloured. The bedroom carpet also could have benefited from a deep clean. The sheets and towels, though were immaculate and the bed comfortable. There was no suitcase rack so the floor was the only – unsuitable – placement! Possibly this was a room scheduled for refurbishment, so we were just unfortunate. IF that was the case we would visit again for location and staff and parking suited well.

Review 23:The location in the delightful historic town of Tewkesbury and being able to park on the premises! The staff were charming and pleasant.

Review 24:The room was in a annex away from the hotel. The room needed updating, the was a smell in the room, the lamp didn't work, windows cracked and dirty!

Review 25:Bed was comfortable

Review 26:We upgraded to a luxury 4 poser bed room and expected luxury. The whole hotel is tired, dark, untidy and not very clean. The carpet in our room was stained, the spa bath didn't work, the cheap foam pillows were awful. The decor was crazy with terrible modern art in a traditional Tudor type room. We were charged £2.95 for 2 pieces of toast we had when we arrived.

Review 27:The position of the hotel was ideal for looking around the town. The private car park meant we felt our dogs were secure locked in our car backed tight up against a brick wall. The breakfast was good.

Review 28:The room was of average cleanliness only. Had to ask for cereal bowls at breakfast in the morning.

Review 29:Good situation on the high street, with canal walks at the rear.

Review 30:Trying to find the car park! Toilet flush not working Ripped net curtain

Review 31:Staff were very friendly and helpful Courtyard area very colourful Good pub style food

Review 32:having portion control servings at breakfast - a pet hate of mine - toast not toasted well and horrid bread - would have liked to see a pot of tea or coffee on the table.

Review 33:cosy and quirky, ideally placed for the town

Review 34:The room was in the attic with no telephone so if there were any problems you had no contact. Numerous stairs and nobody to help with cases. Somebody needs to give the outside bottom of the shower a good clean as there was thick limescale on every corner and also black inside the shower. The towel rail only heated the bottom 4 rungs and there was no heat in the radiator so the bathroom was cold and also the bedroom. There was no extra bedding and half the hangers were broken and lying on the bottom of the wardrobe. Plates just dumped on the table with cooked breakfast although mine was virtually on my lap and the waitress just walked off. We had to put stuff on the carpet to push the plates back on. DIY breakfast stuff should be more spread out as very difficult to get stuff with everybody getting drinks and cereals etc.

Review 35:Beds were very comfortable.

Review 36:We had room 21 overlooking the river which was lovely & quiet, but we felt it was bit dated, stained carpet & bed head & lampshade were dusty, cobwebs at the window.

Review 37:The location was perfect. The food was good value well presented & hot. The staff were friendly & helpful.

Review 38:Hot/cold water control in shower was tricky and temperamental. A minor point but slightly annoying.

Review 39:Charming old Tudor building with warm and friendly atmosphere. Very good menu and delicious food. No problem with parking.

Review 40:We were in the disabled room, number 40, and although comfortable it was not clean (there was a lot of dust lying on the dressing table and on the beams coming down the walls) and the carpet desperately needed replacing, or at least cleaning.

Review 41:The hotel was in a good position in the middle of the High Street. It is a delightful 16th century building which retains all its wonderful features. The evening meal was very good and the new owners were helpful and friendly.

Review 42:menu changed while we were there.

Review 43:bed very comfy great shower lovely breakfast great scrambled egg. Wonderful location right on high street. Jelly roll cafe on high street recommended.

Review 44:Being on the top floor in a bedroom with only a very small skylight. It was 37 steps to our room -

Review 45:Great character the building. Staff very nice and food was very good. Lovely stmosphere

Review 46:Twice caused the power to fuse by turning on/off light switches and no telephone in room to contact the staff. No sound-proofing at all and had to knock on neighbour's door to ask him to turn down TV. Shower cubicle needs sealant between tiles and shower tray to be replaced. Nowhere to put soap/body wash in the shower.

Review 47:Convenient location when visiting a friend in the area. Friendly staff. Good breakfast.

Review 48:We had the ground floor wheechair access room and did not realize it had a wet room. The pictures when booking showed a normal bathroom.

Review 49:the location on the main street in Tewksbury was very convenient for exploring the town and riveron foot. On site parking was a bonus.

Review 50:sorry to say: awful carpeting in all of the building, such a pity that old wooden flooring is not exposed, smells from the kitchen in the corridor, but luckily not in our room, which was situated right above the restaurant/ pub, bathrooms nor mattresses updated

Review 51:Historic building, slanting floors, roof beams, the building style, parking possibility,

Review 52:The staff were quite pleasant. We were placed in an annex through a car park. The room was not very clean. The bathroom was up several steps. The property is in need of urgent update.I did not think it was value for money.

Review 53:The room i stayed in was quite tired with sealant missing around bath and quite alot paint peeling. Not alot of choice of drinks in room. I would suggest note pads and pens next to bed. Staff were very helpfull and i would recommend for short stays

Review 54:Our room was the gazebo suite which although lovely meant that we had the water tanks above us, so if anyone used the bathrooms we had all the noise which was loud. Hairdryer didnt work.

Review 55:excellent location, easy to walk everywhere, really quirky/interesting shops. The old buildings are a beauty to see. Hotel was lovely, nice friendly staff.

Review 56:A very warm welcome after a long journey. Location for breaking trip down M5 was perfect. Only a few minutes from junction. Excellent bar supper and comfortable room, despite booking fairly late on.

Review 57:found a large 4inch spider in room moved bed to find it and it was filthy under bed with dust and remnants from other peoples stay, found it by the way. Miserable staff. Had a ploughman lunch when we arrived, was not very nice, had a strange cake with it instead of bread.

Review 58:nice breakfast Handy for town centre

Review 59:Parking inadequate when hotel full. Gloomy single room, noisy double room, possibly due heating system. Disappointing bar meal.

Review 60:Good location, frendly staff

Review 61:Partition walls seemed very thin - I could hear my neighbour's TV very clearly, though this did not particularly disturb me, but I could also hear them snoring during the night!

Review 62:Good position, lovely old building, good veggie breakfast

Review 63:Room was very dark. No mirror at the right height for a non wheelchair user. Bed was a bit lumpy. Staff seemed miserable except the nice receptionist.

Review 64:Location by river

Review 65:Breakfast food was nice but slightly spoiled by cheap jam/marmalade and downmarket coffee and tea

Review 66:Bedroom lovely, beautiful view over canal and river at the back of the hotel

Review 67:Room was a bit dusty something spilt on carpet .

Review 68:The room was luxurious .four poster bed everything we needed .lovely jacuzzi bath brilliant stay.wellcomeing staff and nice breakfast .

Review 69:The bed was a bit old and uncomfortable.

Review 70:Very good situation, close to everything. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The quirky shape of the hotel was delightful!

Review 71:The room was very very hot, we did open windows but a member of staff was smoking outside and the smell drifted in.

Review 72:Location was good, staff very helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

Review 73:We were in room 1, premier room in Hotel. However, during the entire night there was a constant hum from an extrator fan. Discovered the following morning that kitchen extractor system ran up outside wall of our room.

Review 74:Very spacious room, four poster bed and large bathroom.

Review 75:The smell of damp was strong, so I opened the windows which did improve it. The floor was incredibly noisy (creaking floorboards and some movement) and the room not the cleanest. Knocking noise throughout the night. When I investigated a load of stuff dumped outside in the garden of which a broken umbrella was banging on an old sealed door which you couldn't see in the room. Breakfast was very poor.

Review 76:When we arrived we were moved to a larger room with a view of the river.

Review 77:Room was "tired", beige carpet had seen better days and bath/shower area was poor (damaged bath side, mould around bath seal)

Review 78:Ideally located to allow exploring this beautiful town. Welcoming atmosphere in historic surroundings.

Review 79:We enjoyed every part of our stay from checking in to everything in between to checking out staff so welcoming helpful and friendly! Food is excellent we highly recommend this hotel!

Review 80:On arrival, room very poorly cleaned, sticky marks on the dresser from previous drinks/teas/coffees; windows/sills covered in cobwebs and dead insects; long hairs left in the bath; toilet pan hadn't seen bleach for some time.

Review 81:Nice spacious room (#20) with nice views.

Review 82:A lovely hotel with great character. We were lucky enough to have a wonderful view of the river from our room at the back of the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful - we had booked several rooms as it was the night before our son's wedding and we were all able to have breakfast together the following morning which was very enjoyable.

Review 83:Hotel was clean and comfortable, breakfast very good. Our room was a triple and very spacious with a dividing door between the area where the double bed and single bed were. Staff were great.

Review 84:Our room was a little tired and being on the front of the building above the busy high street meant we were unable to open the windows on a very warm humid night. Our sons' room was nicer in the back courtyard.

Review 85:All the staff helpful and friendly, and the breakfast choice was good and enjoyable. Our beds were quite comfy.

Review 86:The room was away from main building so did not have the old worldly atmosphere also the bath plug had a old rusty hair grip so you could let water out which my husband cut his foot on

Review 87:The room was lovely with four poster bed

Review 88:We booked two rooms: One for ourselves and one for our daughter and son in law. Their room was fabulous- the honeymoon, suite-they were married a week ago! However, our ground floor room, was a little disappointing. There were crumbs in the chest of drawers, the toilet hadn't been cleaned properly and the carpet hadn't been hovered. Once I mentioned this to the receptionist, the matter was dealt with straight away. To be fair, we were compensated with a round of drinks in the bar later. It still spoilt our initial impression of the place. On further inspection the bathroom window sill was unclean and the toilet seat was loose and potentially dangerous. I did report the toilet seat on departure,

Review 89:The hotel was located centrally. Good access to high street/other places of interest. Wheel chair/disabled friendly. (I am on crutches/using a wheel chair following an accident earlier this summer. Lovely, helpful, friendly staff.

Review 90:The carpet was badly stained and the whole room could have benefited from a make-over. Curtains in need of repair and windows wouldn't open properly. Tea and coffee arrangements at breakfast were not up to standard. Do it yourself tea and coffee does not make for good quality.

Review 91:Staff are the key asset. Friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.

Review 92:Nothing I can say.

Review 93:A very pleasant stay. All round I couldn't fault the staff or quality of the food and service. Even though the hotel was very busy with a wedding party nothing was too much trouble. This is why I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Tewkesbury. This was my 3rd stay in this hotel and I will come back.

Review 94:HAVING BOOKED THIS HOTEL BECAUSE OF THE AGE AND CHARACTER WE WERE MORE THAN DISAPPOINTED TO BE GIVEN A ROOM ACROSS THE CAR PARK WHICH WAS NOT VERY CONVENIENT ON REALLY WET DAYS AS THE GUTTERING POURED WATER IN TORRENTS OVER US PROBABLY NEEDED CLEANED OR REPLACED A LACK OF FRESH TOWEL FOR 2 PEOPLE EACH DAY WAS NOT GOOD PLUS THE BREAKFAST WAS IN MY OPINION A JOKE NO WIFI IN THE OUTSIDE ROOMS ONLY IN MAIN HOTEL WE WILL NEVER BOOK THIS HOTEL AGAIN

Review 95:THE LOCATION OF THIS HOTEL WAS GOOD AND THE STAFF FRIENDLY

Review 96:The bathroom needed somewhere to put things down, a shelf at least or there was room for a small storage unit. There was a sign warning you about the bath being slippy when wet, and thought they could have provided a non slip mat. The wifi was not that good.

Review 97:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bedroom was big and had a good bed and plenty of storage space. Table and chairs. The evening meals in the restaurant were very good, plenty of choice. Well cooked. Nice area to sit outside by the wishing well.

Review 98:I loved everything.

Review 99:The staff could not have been more helpful. Absolutely lovely people they went out of their way even though really busy. I couldn't recommend this hotel more and our room was out of this world. Thank you for a fabulous stay. Oh and we had Sunday lunch which was gorgeous. Xxxx

Review 100:Breakfast left a lot to be desired 1 rash of bacon uncooked mushrooms fried bread that was not edible,Room very warm with little ventilation,at the front of property so noise level from road a problem.

Review 101:Staff very friendly.

Review 102:The reading light above the single bed did not work, the strip light above the bathroom mirror did not work, the handle on the shower door was loose and could cause an accident if the user's hand is wet and Channel 3 on the TV kept going of the reception and yet all the other channels worked !

Review 103:Good location and an excellent breakfast

Review 104:Poor towel quality, but better with 2nd lot. Room and bathroom a bit 'tired', could generally be smarter. Area outside Annex messy, lots of cigarette butts - a good sweep up would improve!

Review 105:Staff very welcoming, helpful and friendly.

Review 106:Kitchen extractor fan left on the first night of our stay, no sleep at all but rectified as soon as we spoke to the manager.

Review 107:Food portions were large. Menu should ask guests to request smaller breakfasts if required to avoid waste. Rooms were fantastic, real feel of history.

Review 108:The hotel is a blend of old world charm and modern convenience. We stayed in the Gazebo Room, which provided privacy due to its separate location in the annex. The staff were excellent and the food is amazing.

Review 109:We felt it was time the Tudor House was refurbished in all reception areas. The carpets were very dirty and tacky. For anyone who has a problem with stairs this is a hotel to be avoided.

Review 110:The staff were friendly and could not have been more helpful in any way.

Review 111:Didn't care too much for our room. Very small and cramped with no real window (only a skylite). Would probably rate higher if we'd had a better room.

Review 112:The bathroom was tiny, shower temperature was only boiling hot couldn't get any cold to come through. No full length mirror.

Review 113:Location perfect, hotel is old and quirky, staff were brilliant and very helpful. Room small but comfortable.

Review 114:Car parking was a bit tight, but we got in!

Review 115:Great location, beautiful old building, able to walk around town in evening and then nightcap in the hotel bar. Perfick!

Review 116:Pleasant staff. Good location in centre of town with views of the river from the beer garden at the back. The hotel has plenty of character with many interesting features.

Review 117:the bathroom was in poor condition the side of the bath was loose and the general condition of the bathroom was tatty

Review 118:the bedroom was lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful, considering the youthfulness of the staff the hotel appeared to be very well run.loved all the public areas despite or maybe because of its 'wornness'

Review 119:lack of parking. lack of taxis in area. no sky sports on in pubs!

Review 120:nice buildings. very scenic town. staff were very friendly and accommodating. breakfast really good.

Review 121:Our room was in an annexe overlooking the car park. Disappointed we were not within the historic hotel. Did not feel to be part of the hotel.

Review 122:Excellent breakfast served by friendly staff.

Review 123:The room and bathroom were very small, the only bedside light didn't work (wrong bulb fitted) and the bathroom mirror light didn't work (no tube). The shower hose was split and leaked despite a botched repair attempt.

Review 124:The Staff were very pleasant and efficient. The evening meal and the breakfast was excellent both in choice and quality

Review 125:We had dinner at the hotel. It had a pre-prepared and mass-produced appearance. The vegetarian chilli was an uninteresting blob of rice and beans. The lamb tagine was presented as though its ingredients and accompaniments had been placed on the plate direct from their containers.

Review 126:The location and view from our window over the canals

Review 127:Wifi DOES NOT work in some rooms. As I was working and needed the wifi, the staff eventually moved us to a room where the wifi did work. Apart from vthat, a beautiful hotel, brilliant stay

Review 128:Fabulous location, interesting and comfortable hotel, carpark. Great breakfast.

Review 129:Although I specifically requested it to be a dust free room, due to being allergic asthmatic, I had to ask for the room to be cleaned as thick dust was evident. Carpets were marked and dusty, dressing table and chair both had broken unstable legs, windows were very dirty. Stairways needed hoovering.

Review 130:The location of the hotel is excellent the character was in keeping, but cleanliness in an older property is difficult I know, but this shouldn't be used as an excuse for accumulated dust and lack of up keep.

Review 131:Nothing really. The floor in the bedroom was at a slope, but then again, it was a 16th century building!

Review 132:The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel is very old and interesting. The food in the restaurant was very good value.

Review 133:Some aspects of the room decor e.g. the carpet) are rather tired. However, I am nit-picking; the room in general was excellent.

Review 134:Very nice room in an annex overlooking the river. Very quiet; I enjoyed a good night's sleep. The cooked breakfast was very good and was served promptly. Right in the centre of Tewkesbury so plenty of places to choose from if you want to eat out in the evening - although the hotel menu looks good as well. Very good value for money..

Review 135:I loved every part of our stay at the Tudor House Hotel. The staff were brilliant, the food was awesome and it is perfectly located. The building itself is beautiful. I was in town for the medieval festival so we felt right at home.

Review 136:Banging door on the ground floor was annoying and we were on the 4th floor. Room we had was set into the roof and had small velux type window,as it was extremely hot during our stay it should have had a small fan to make it less stuffy.

Review 137:Ye olde worldy building very attractive. Had to get used to finding our room.

Review 138:Filthy dirty bedroom carpet. Hard bed. Very poor English Breakfast. The tomatoes and mushrooms looked like they had been kept warm since Medieval times!

Review 139:The shower was ok

The Fine Print
