Reviews for Kelham House Country Manor Hotel

Review 1:Room above the bar was a little noisy. It was also a bit cold.

Review 2:Comfortable bed and great welcome when I arrived late in the evening. Good breakfast too.

Review 3:Bed wasn't comfy and the room was cold. The bacon was overdone.

Review 4:The location was fabulous for my purposes. The décor and style of house was fabulous. Loved the smell of log fires on entry.

Review 5:I love staying a Kelham House Hotel, the staff cannot do enough for you. For someone who works away from home regularly it's a home away from home and is a stay I look forward to.

Review 6:Slightly noisy in the coach house at night, some noisy doors opening and closing.

Review 7:Nespresso machine in room, lots of tea and coffee provided, fantastic breakfast.

Review 8:Did not like booking a hotel to be put in an annexe. Having to cross a courtyard to go into the main hotel for breakfast, this was not what we expected or paid for. We would have received better service and fscilities in a Travelodge. NOT a good first experience of booking with booking.com

Review 9:Nothing

Review 10:The bed! And still no bottle of water in the room! The bed is possibly my problem, lack of water or minibar is theirs.

Review 11:Staff, huge fire in reception, BBC News always on in Bar, good breakfast, great shower

Review 12:Mattress too firm. My only disappointment. Some staff a little inexperienced but very helpful overall. Mistakes were rectified.

Review 13:Lovely friendly staff. Lovely grounds. Beautiful room. Very good food. Efficient service.

Review 14:The weather, lol!

Review 15:Staff very accommodating, nice to be able to have a nightcap after an evening out. Great location and views from the rooms. Fast, efficient wifi system!

Review 16:The shower had a single control so for warmer water the volume was automatically increased till it was uncomfortable.

Review 17:Staff rapidly responded to any need.

Review 18:I just thought the breakfast was a little disappointing

Review 19:Free upgrade for which I was very grateful, it made my stay a bit more special. I stayed on a Sunday night and the hotel wasn't busy. Staff were very kind and helpful.

Review 20:1. I phoned the day before to ask if the restaurant would be open - was told no, then it turned out that it was. Very confusing. 2. Our son's room was in a separate building to ours - ok as it turned out but what if he'd been a bit younger? 3. Please let your waiting staff know that the response 'no problem' becomes annoying when used repeatedly for normal requests such as choosing dishes from a menu. Why should my choice be a problem?!

Review 21:Comfortable spacious room. Good breakfast.

Review 22:A beautiful, peaceful location. Room was excellent. Very clean. Shower was very good and that matters to me. Staff very friendly. Breakfast very nice.

Review 23:Bit far from Nottingham, but that was our decision to stay out of town. Food very very nicely presented but lacked flavour.

Review 24:Friendly helpful staff, nice location, clean, comfortable and pleasant place to stay.

Review 25:Amazing hotel, Great room, Ideal for my stay as it was within walking distance of the Kelham Hall where I was working. Staff really friendly and accommodating.

Review 26:Staff at check in were very inexperienced and insisted on photocopying my credit card.

Review 27:The cleanliness and general presentation of the hotel. Breakfast was excellent!

Review 28:Nothing really. A bottle of water in the room with some glasses would be nice but that is a very minor thing!

Review 29:The room (in the separate coach house) was a very good size. Bed was very comfortable and it was very quiet overnight. The shower was fantastic! A previous review said the wifi in the coach house was poor but it seemed absolutely fine to me. There are two networks so they might still have been connected to the main hotel wifi.

Review 30:WiFi "iffy" in my bedroom. Also no complimentary bottle of water nor even a minibar to buy some water during the evening or night, which is poor as not all wish to sit in the bar.

Review 31:Staff, room service and selection of teas in the bedroom. Also the room tv was one of the best I have come across in these situations.

Review 32:food was variable. steak was excellent, cheeseboard was awful, crackers/biscuits so old and hard they couldnt be broken with teeth, knife or axe...

Review 33:comfortable, nice surroundings

Review 34:Felt very special staying in this manor house hotel. Found the staff to be very professional and attentive. Sam, working in the restaurant and bar, deserves a particular mention. Bedroom was comfortable with excellent water pressure in the shower and nice view from the window across the grounds of the house. Slept very well.

Review 35:The kitchen can't poach an egg, my breakfast eggs were rock hard.

Review 36:At dinner time there were no staff in the restaurant or reception, just a barman, so I ate in the bar. Burger and chips was very good.

Review 37:Ask great no negative comments

Review 38:I stay in lots of hotels and highly rate this one. It's a lovely location, very clean, staff so helpful and lovely bathrooms.a relaxing stay

Review 39:Wonderfully helpful & friendly staff. An upgrade to the beautiful bridal suite. A complimentary fruit platter & an excellent quality room service meal.

Review 40:monkfish main course small as starter

Review 41:Views from bedroom of sunset and sunrise, relaxed atmosphere, breakfast, evening meal (but see below),deep bath.

Review 42:The bed needs a thicker douvet. Even with the thin extra blanket, I woke up feeling chilly!

Review 43:Excellent service, no traffic noise, comfortable room, good food and plesant rural setting off the road.

Review 44:The staff were welcoming and friendly. I arrived to find that I had been upgraded for free and put in a lovely room with free fruit, robe/slippers, etc. Very spacious room with lovely furniture and big comfortable bed. Although I was staying here only one night on business I would happily book for a weekend away here.

Review 45:the plastic cups were a bit of a disappointment for the water, one of the coffee cups was dirty and the wardrobe was locked, but otherwise lovely!

Review 46:breakfast was excellent, the room was lovely and the staff were very friendly.

Review 47:No warning that the restaurant was not open on a Sunday evening. Bar snacks were very good but rather limited choice. Bathroom in room 2 very poky.

Review 48:Friendly staff and comfortable room.

Review 49:Very unprofessional staff who clearly need either management or training. The food was indifferent to say the least. Good ideas but not well executed. Wine list poor.

Review 50:Good location and welcoming and friendly staff.

Review 51:Nina on reception was very welcoming and very informative about the origins of the house. A lovely house which did not feel like a hotel. A great place to stay. I would highly recommend it.

Review 52:They have installed a green "night light" in the bedrooms and this is so bright it keeps you awake all night. They are not necessary and anybody sensitive to light, will like me have a night of hell. Premier Inns offer better comfort!

Review 53:The room appeared comfortable at first sight.

Review 54:Bar food choice, very poor! Price of drinks! Booked because we wanted to drink and eat without driving, nowhere on the web site does if say restaurant closed on Sunday! When speaking to the desk I got a poor response.

Review 55:Nice room, nice surroundings

Review 56:Fillet steak for evening meal was cooked to perfection, medium rare. Breakfast next morning was delicious with plenty of choice. If in the area again would definatly stay again.

Review 57:Only that my stay was only for one night and would have liked to have spent longer relaxing in the beautiful and comfortable bedroom!

Review 58:The hotel's architecture, setting, grounds, parking, welcoming atmosphere, a lit open fire in the hallway, welcoming staff, a beautifully spacious and tastefully decorated and furnished room - including a leather sofa for added comfort. A large and spotlessly clean bathroom with up-to-date bath fittings. A good cooked breakfast. An acceptable price for my stay, given all that this hotel had to offer.

Review 59:There was no heating in the bathroom so nowhere to dry towels and this would have been difficult in colder weather.

Review 60:The staff were, without exception, very friendly and welcoming. It was nice to be upgraded for nothing because the hotel was very quiet. The grounds are very pleasant. I can imagine a wedding party having a great time here. Our evening meal was good but the pancake was a bit stodgy. Breakfasts were very good. It was good to be able to order a morning paper.

Review 61:The welcome matched the location - perfect. Our room was huge and we loved the fact that bathroom was by entrance of bedroom suite. Overall service was excellent -we appreciated the waitress asking kitchen for porridge at breakfast too. Thank you.

Review 62:Restaurant was closed but could have had bar meal, decided to eat out.

Review 63:It was a one night stay(Sunday night), hotel was very quiet, only 6 guests. Clean, comfy bed, great breakfast.

Review 64:Friendly and polite staff. Excellent freshly cooked breakfast. Recommend the scrambled eggs! Large spacious rooms with good view. Plenty of tea, coffee etc. Liked the fact bottle water was provided and dressing gowns and slippers. Good quality toiletries. Very clean.

Review 65:Bit disappointed by the service at the wedding. Did not announce the cutting of the cake. In fact it did not happen ! Fortunately this was done later that night at home !

Review 66:Good rooms with all the extras ie bathroom toiletries, TV and tea and coffee making facilities. Good location for Newark.

Review 67:no air conditioning as very hot nights when we stayed and the pillows were too thick which is not good for your neck position while sleeping.

Review 68:professionalism of staff. Peacefulness close to the area we were visiting

Review 69:No information leaflets for local attractions available in the room

Review 70:I really liked the offer of coffee and pastries while we waited for our lift to arrive.

Review 71:Staff are young enthusiastic and hard working, occasionally a lack of experience showed, sometimes the number of staff was not enough to ensure the high standard in all areas

Review 72:The feel is of a comfortable courty house, not a hotel, it's not stuffy at all, it's very comfortable and some nice features, young friendly staff who were very busy made our stay a good one.

Review 73:I have to follow a gluten free diet and the staff were really helpful in ensuring I still had yummy food. The staff were so friendly and the room well equipped. The garden was a lovely place to go and read a book.

Review 74:Efficient and friendly staff Elegant building and decor Friday night offer- small room but nice decor. Delicious breakfast Really appreciated the additional hour so that we could go out in morning yet return to change for a wedding. Thank you very much!

Review 75:Caesar salad on the bar menu was poor

Review 76:The breakfast was the best we have had for a long time. Our room seemed recently re-furbished with modern deco & bathroom. Free wifi with no annoying passwords!

Review 77:Roaring log fire in reception.

Review 78:No 'additional' facilities like a pool / gym at location or nearby.

Review 79:Foood was great.

Review 80:Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast.

Review 81:Staff excellent, good experience

Review 82:Positive all round

Review 83:Very helpful staff and the bar menu was excellent

Review 84:The food was very poor including a so-called pineapple tarte tatin which dad been burnt on top but was raw underneath

Review 85:Not much

Review 86:In house restaurant expensive

Review 87:Quiet location; comfortable bed and room

Review 88:Morning staff not so much

Review 89:Evening staff were great

Review 90:Poor wif fi connection

Review 91:Friendly and efficient staff

Review 92:Bar decor underwhelming.

Review 93:Small hotel with a welcoming country feel and superb food.

Review 94:Beautiful hotel, such a shame I arrived late in the evening and was unable to take full advantage of the facilities and location.

Review 95:Breakfast was excellent, bedroom was spacious and comfortable

Review 96:We liked everything.

Review 97:our room was excellent, room 3.

Review 98:No veggie option in bar.

Review 99:Room in Annex v nice indeed

Review 100:The staff were lovely and the hotel very comfortable. I will use again when I am in the area and recommend to others going that way.

Review 101:Always a pleasure! A place of tranquillity in a very busy world.

Review 102:Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast excellent!

Review 103:Excellent accommodation and food

Review 104:excellent value for money. Room was excellent quality very quiet just what we were looking for.

Review 105:Staff, friendly environment, just overall pleasing

Review 106:Nothing!

Review 107:Tranquil setting, attentive friendly staff and beautiful rooms

Review 108:Bar and dining room cold at times as outside doors were left open by members of wedding party

Review 109:Location of the hotel

Review 110:No vegetarian option for breakfast...even the yohhurts were muller light which contain animal.

Review 111:Woke feeling very refreshed after a hard days work.

Review 112:Location and food both excellent. I was offered an upgrade from a single room which was great.
