Reviews for Jessop House

Review 1:Fabulous..... most friendly staff, beautiful boutique hotel, décor just the ticket for the building and overall presentation. Would defo' recommend and return.

Review 2:Nothing

Review 3:Jessops is a Gem of a place, fabulous location, gorgeous, character room and wonderfully friendly and helpful hosts Chris and Steve. More like a first class boutique hotel than a B&B, highly recommend

Review 4:Ensuite small but adequate. Parking hard to find down a tiny lane, and at busy times you might not get a space.

Review 5:Lots to like here, big room in a lovely old Georgian building. Very friendly. Great breakfast.

Review 6:For us the mattress on our bed was unfortunately too soft such that we did not have a good night's sleep. (recommend use of mattresses used in Travelodge hotels - Sleepeeze)

Review 7:Ideally located for our through journey north to south but also perfectly situated for sightseeing. Beautifully designed property - amazing building.

Review 8:No separate bathroom. Facilities were split between 3 areas in the room. Shower in one cupboard, lavatory in another and hand basin in the room itself. Not keen on the room colour scheme of purple and pink.

Review 9:The public areas are beautifully decorated, the room spacious and the hotel is situated right in the middle of the town opposite the Abbey. Also near to several good restaurants.

Review 10:Absolutely nothing not to like

Review 11:Everything. Beautiful room. Lovely lounge. Excellent breakfast. Superb hosts Fab Italian restaurant next door. Walking distance to town. Need I go on??

Review 12:Everything. Stayed here a couple of times and it's the best B&B that we've ever stayed in. Service, breakfast, rooms - all superb. Attention to detail is very impressive.

Review 13:The hotel was in a very convenient location just off the motorway as we were on our way home from Cornwall and needed a break from all the traffic. The owners were very friendly and everywhere was very smart and clean.

Review 14:One of the best 'home-cooked' breakfasts we've had in a long time! Toast made from 'proper' bread - not the 'plastic' bread you get in many establishments these days.

Review 15:Chris & Steve were both very attentive and extremely friendly, picked up instantly on individual needs of their customers, and also gave great recommendations for the local area! Excellent breakfast too!

Review 16:The couple that owned the b&b were very welcoming! The room was beautiful and everything was done too a very high standard! One of the best hotels I have been to in a long time. 10/10

Review 17:Limited parking behind the hotel, the comfort of the bed was "only" above-average,i.e. not the most comfortable we've had, but still good. Not easy to drag heavy luggage up the stairs, but it's a renaissance period house, not a modern purpose-built hotel.

Review 18:The owners, the location, the terrific breakfast, the quiet room. Certainly a place to spend a night or a week.

Review 19:Stayed here on way to our holiday. Fantastic place. Christine and Steve were fantastic hosts. Breakfast very good. Would definitely recommend and would stay again.

Review 20:No shower mat, but thankfully we had our own towels following glamping so we used our own, so no bother really.

Review 21:Friendly welcome, beautifully decorated room, hearty breakfast with local produce.

Review 22:Very homely. Kind and caring owners. Nothing was too much trouble. Understood the needs of my elderly mother. The breakfast was the best I've ever had!

Review 23:We stayed one night on route to Devon and wished we could have stayed longer. We were made very welcome . The room was beatifully furnished with some lovely finishing touches. Would definitely recommend this hotel if visiting Tewkesbury.

Review 24:The bathroom was extremely small, and as there was no room for a basin in the bathroom, it was situated in the bedroom. The towels were only hand size and not baths size. Only one towel each.

Review 25:The bedroom was tastefully decorated and a nice size

Review 26:They were very cheerful and helpful and passed on local knowledge. The tea room was great. Furnishings were lovely, and beds were very comfortable. If we did have a problem, which we didn't, they would have helped us resolve it. A really lovely place.

Review 27:Because it is a listed building the owners are not allowed to make internal structural alterations. For this reason our toilet and shower room was very small.

Review 28:Well located, roomy, comfortable, quality fitments, linen and plumbing, generous facilities. Very pleasant, helpful owners. Up market B&B but reasonably priced.

Review 29:Some towels are in need of replacement.

Review 30:Excellent hosts. Comfortable rooms. Good breakfasts. Oldest house in Tewkesbury, with parking. Good things to do. Excellent location. Close to very good restaurants. Good wifi.

Review 31:Beautiful place, great location. Room and whole place was fresh, clean and decorated beautifully! Felt totally at ease from the minute we checked in ( early but just left our bags) until leaving on the Sunday morning.

Review 32:We had a wonderful one night stay at Jessop House, so many wonderful small touches and you really felt you were getting a personal service. We were just sorry we weren't staying there longer!

Review 33:Just a simple suggestion...an additional towel rail would be good as there was nowhere to hand a dressing gown.. Maybe an extra hook or rail o the door would do the trick..

Review 34:The owners attention to detail and their obviouse desire to make guest welcome. Jessop House was a delightful place to sta and I would recommend it without hesitation.

Review 35:Nothing - faultless

Review 36:A great B&B made by some great hosts, who take great pride in their property and run it very professionally. If I ran a B&B then I hope it would be as good as this one. Worth treating yourselves - you won't regret it!

Review 37:The decor of the whole house is great. We stayed in the twin room which was well appointed and very comfortable. Christine and Steve were so welcoming and friendly.

Review 38:Very, very friendly in every way. Comfortable, lovely breakfast. Helpful with taxi contacts/ helping me with my suitcase. Accommodating with storing bags. I will highly recommend this friendly B&B.

Review 39:Very friendly hosts. Attention to detail is first class. Rooms immaculate and fully equipped. Breakfast perfect. Two minutes walk to the splendid Abbey.

Review 40:We wasn't there long enough, only one night unfortunately, otherwise nothing I can think of.

Review 41:We liked the location, and there was a farmers market and craft show which was a bonus.

Review 42:Chris and Steve are very warm and friendly hosts. We felt valued and the whole stay was a relaxed experience. We were only there for one night but were treated like the best guests ever!

Review 43:This historic guest house was very well situated in the heart of the lovely town. The room was very clean and comfortable and the hosts very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again and can thoroughly recommend.

Review 44:So glad we chose to stay here, the place is beautifully decorated and Christine and Stephen couldn't be more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. They booked us in the Italian restaurant next door on the first night as we arrived fairly late in the evening, and sorted out taxis on our second night so we didn't have to worry. Would highly recommend and without hesitation we would go back.

Review 45:what's not to like?

Review 46:fantastic farmhouse breakfast and range of other breakfast options. The rooms really do have a wow factor, having been decorated and coordinated to an extremely high level and finish throughout. It is immaculately clean in all areas, with good parking at the back. One stay here will definitely not be enough - i look forward to your hopsitality and staying with you again very soon

Review 47:The room was beautifully done, the decor was amazing, the breafast was fantastic and the owners made us feel at home.lovely people and we would definately go there again.

Review 48:Bed was a bit hard for us. Small bathroom.

Review 49:Big bedroom with nice furniture and decor. Good variety at breakfast. Perfect location for attractions and dining / pubs.

Review 50:Warm welcome, friendly and approachable owners, comfortable room, quality furnishings, exceptionally clean, great choice for breakfast, lovely old house restored with attention to detail

Review 51:Tewkesbury seems to be going through a transitional period particularly the other end of the town where a number of businesses were either closing or in the process of changing hands.

Review 52:As we were there to visit the Abbey, Jessop House was ideal being located virtually opposite. Also, it was close to the best restaurants. The breakfast at the B &B was very good and plentiful, setting us up for the day.

Review 53:We couldn't fault anything with this lovely hotel. It was our second stay and now even better than before. We will definitely be coming back next year. Highly recommend.

Review 54:Warm welcome -large fabulously decorated suite -all amenities catered for- brilliant location delicious breakfast wide menu choice-recommend booking asap

Review 55:Due to the age of the building: Very creaky floor boards above us, sadly didn't get much sleep as 2 guests were walking around all night. Bathroom was on the small side.

Review 56:The interior design, attention to detail both inside and out, the position, wonderfully dressed large bedroom with fireplace and large comfy sofa.

Review 57:NOTHING

Review 58:THE BEST B&B IN GLOUCESTERSHIRE IN OUR OPINION WONDERFUL HOSTS SUPERB FRESHLY COOKED BREAKFAST GREAT ITALIAN REST NEXT DOOR HIGH QUALITY FURNISHING WE WILL BE BACK

Review 59:Room was like a suite with sofa and a view across rooftops of the abbey. Beautifully decorated. Very hospitable hosts.very close to good restaurants.

Review 60:no faults whatsoever

Review 61:We loved the hotel and were very well looked after by Steven and Chris the owners, first time I've had my case taken upstairs for me. Loved the well prepared breakfast, especially the black pudding.

Review 62:Easy access to Cheltenham. Good local knowledge. Excellent resturants very close by. All rooms with a wow factor, attention to detail. Great breakfast, would highly recommend!

Review 63:What a lovely place to stay. Great hosts, great food, A lovely bed and breakfast kept in the highest order. Very clean and everything in perfect order. We shall use again

Review 64:There was nothing to dislike ... even the late September weather was good!

Review 65:Everything about Jessop House was excellent. Our room was large, comfortable and tastefully decorated and, most importantly, spotlessly clean. Breakfast was served in another beautifully appointed room and the quality of the food was first class. Steve and Chris are great hosts and when our plans changed unexpectedly, they were helpful and accommodating. We can thoroughly recommend Jessop House.

Review 66:The proximity of the church and the bells ringing through the night

Review 67:Beautiful building, great owners, very well furnished and decorated, interesting town. The central location is perfect for exploring the good quality local restaurants.

Review 68:I was rather takem aback when we were asked for payment as we checked in. The owner said it was because his car was going in for mot the next day. It just seemed a bit unprofessional to me. After we had paid he then explained that they were fully booked and wouldn't be able to have breakfast until 10.30! I did wonder if this was why payment had been requested first. And although I explained that we wouldn't want a coiked breakfast there was no attempt to offer us a breakfast any earlier. As a result we left at 8.30 and had breakfast elsewhere. If the proprietors were too busy to accomodate us then they should not have taken the booking. We paid £99 for a bed.

Review 69:The decor was beautiful and very clean. The bedding was of a very high quality, as were all tge furnishings. It was in the centre of the town which was most convenient. I loved hearing the town clock striking throughout the night.

Review 70:Small shower cubicle and W.C. in the room we had, would not suit everyone No bathroom available when we booked.

Review 71:Perfect location with free parking. Outside and inside beautifully kept. Very friendly owners ,Chris and Steve, who made us very welcome and recommended a great Italian restaurant next door for our evening meal.

Review 72:If you don't like this place you need your head testing

Review 73:Everything. Rooms beautifully decorated yet keeping the history and embiance of an old building, food fabulous and Steve and Chris the best knowledgable hosts you'll ever have. Just stay ,it's worth ever penny you spend

Review 74:The room was fabulous. It was huge and featured a lovely comfortable sofa and flat screen TV. All the rooms were beautifully decorated and were immaculately clean. The owners were on hand to help whenever we needed them. The location was perfect, close to a good Italian restaurant and just opposite the abbey. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.

Review 75:Beds a bit on the soft side.

Review 76:very friendly and helpful hosts. Lovely house in the middle of very beautyful and interesting town. Really good breakfast.

Review 77:Honestly we can't think of anything really.

Review 78:We really loved everything about this little Georgian Gem. From the welcoming owners to the beautiful breakfast and stunning rooms. It's in the heart of town, so everything is a stroll away. We couldn't recommend Jesspp enough and will definitely be back.

Review 79:The shower is in a closet so there wasn't any space to put your clothes or anything. It was fine for us but perhaps not for everyone.

Review 80:Steve and Christine were excellent hosts who were very accommodating with our check-in time. We overslept slightly and missed breakfast but they were kind enough to accommodate. The egg and smoked salmon was very tasty. They also gave us a few pointers about the Cotswolds area. It was interesting to learn about the history of the building we stayed in (grade 2 star listed!).
