Reviews for Alpha Guest House
Review 1:Our car was parked in front of the property, we were left in privacy but owners very friendly when approached and gave good advice for public transport and recommended restaurants to eat. In all a clean, quiet guesthouse and we would return.
Review 2:The bathroom was a bit on the small side in the room we had .
Review 3:Good location with bus stop just across the road straight to the city.Really friendly host and good breakfast. Lots of information on buses etc.

Review 7:Owner was excellent really friendly and provided a really nice breakfast. Resulted in a nice atmosphere with the other guests at the breakfast area. Room was spotless with daily Towel changes.
Review 8:Parking is a little tricky because of limited area. But still a good place to stay.
Review 9:Friendly, clean facilities, good breakfast, helpful. Would recommend!
Review 10:Good value with good bus connections to city center. Breakfast was great. Ada, the proprietor, was very helpful on local info that add our visit special.
Review 11:Very friendly and kind owner assisted us well. There's communication issue and our room was set as 1 double bed rather 2 single bed setup. Although we arrive late, she made the change while we're out for dinner. Really appreciate it.
Review 12:Friendly owner, spotlessly clean, comfortable en-suite room and ideally situated for travelling in and out of Edinburgh by bus @ £1.50 per journey or £4 for a day ticket.
Review 13:All 100% nothing to dislike
Review 14:I was amazed at this guest house it was excellent the room with on suite was great the cleanliness of this guest house WAS IMPECCABLE!!!! it is as described online true to fact short ride into Edinburgh I would recommend THE ALPHA GUEST HOUSE to anyone congratulations full marks to the owners Margaret and Alan LEEDS
Review 15:Nicely decorated house. Everything was spotless. Breakfast was nice. The owner gave me some wonderful advice and was easy to talk to. The parking facilities were good for the city and it was easy to get into the centre by bus.
Review 16:The place was great, good locations, the owner lady was very nice and very accommodate to our needs. The breakfast was lovely and so was our rooms , very clean and true to the picture. We would definitely recommended Alpha Guest House :-)
Review 17:Very conveniently located, a quick ride on a bus into the city saves finding a parking place, especially when the festival is on. Friendly proprietors and very helpful. Rooms are cosy and comfortable. Breakfast was very good and very filling.
Review 18:The TV's are a bit dated using a separate freeview box. The reception was quite bad which made viewing difficult in the evening in downtime. The bathroom sink was also quite small for shaving purposes. Very well furnished though.
Review 19:The owners were very accommodating and very helpful answering questions about the local areas.
Review 20:Only 1 chair with broken leg. TV remote did not work, had to use side buttons. Set top box did work. Very small basin in en-suite. Drawer handles missing so could not open two drawers.
Review 21:Good bus service. Good shower.
Review 22:Parking is a bit tight but didn't cause any problems as we had a little Fiat. Bear in mind if travelling with a large car.
Review 23:Perfect location, bus stop to/from the city center right outside the door with buses every 10 mins max. Lovely owner, great breakfast, nice room!
Review 24:The floor covering in the corridor was a laminate which was quite noisy when people passed bedroom door. The bed was a little soft for my liking and no "body" in pillows
Review 25:Excellent location, very friendly staff good breakfast, all in all was a nice guest house and would stop there again
Review 26:nothing everything was excellent
Review 27:location is on the main bus route to the tourist attractions, room was very clean and had a great power shower and the breakfast was fantastic we enjoyed our stay
Review 28:Nothing..
Review 29:Upon arrival the owner was there. Showed us to our room, which was lovely, showed us the amenities and went through the Guest Info book. Ideal for getting in and out of Edinburgh as the bus stops right outside. No 33 & 49. Breakfast was minimal although lovely. Definitely recommend this guest house and would definitely use again.. a great place to start out 8 day road trip of Scotland. . Thank you..
Review 30:Good location, opposite bus stop to centre of Edinburgh and next to bus stop for return. Comfortable bed, clean shower, pleasant dining room. Ada, the owner was very pleasant and welcoming, and very organised with a helpful information leaflet in the room. She was happy to help us with local information. Breakfast was Ok and catered to our vegetarian needs. Parking onsite was helpful.
Review 31:when I was there a young boy went in & out the front door almost 10 times in an hour, he rang the door bell it was very loud and banging door.
Review 32:- good location, with bus to city - friendly staff
Review 33:Nothing serious. -Although we slept well, we could feel the springs in the mattress. -Very good breakfast, but at a set time:8:30 . A little flexibility would be nice.
Review 34:We could park the car on their lot for free and use the bus which was steps from the door. The room was spotlessly clean, and the breakfast very good. The hosts were friendly. We liked Alpha Guest House.
Review 35:A very clean and brand new location. The room is quite large with a king size bad, a massive desk and a nice and clean bathroom. An advantage is the safe (which is free), whilst you have to pay for it to the other hotels.
Review 36:The room was so beautifully decorated the lumpy bed let it down so new mattress would be perfection.
Review 37:The warm welcome. The lovely room. Fantastic breakfast. The helpful information about all day travel for £4.50 all day buses which stopped outside and took 10 minutes into Royal Mile so no parking worries and very regular right up to midnight!!!!
Review 38:The only thing that I didn't like was the size of the bathroom sink...way too small. It was very pretty with the blue and red lights indicating cold or hot, but it was not practical. Otherwise, everything was wonderful!
Review 39:Our room was newly renovated and very nice. Everything was clean and even though we were on a busy street, the noise was not a problem at all. Breakfast was very good...loved the fresh fruit and yogurt. The owner, Ada, was extremely nice and very helpful. The bus stop into the city was just across the street so we could leave our car at the house and just ride the bus. Very quick and simple bus ride.
Review 40:Nothing it was lovely.
Review 41:That our baby girl was treated well. Cot and highchair provided and nothing too much trouble. Lovely family, friendly and helpful. Would stay again if in Edinburgh.
Review 42:The B&B is run by a very nice family who really cares for their guests. 15 minute walk to Edinburgh center with great restaurants, bars, and historical sites.
Review 43:The place is located slightly out of the city centre and involves catching a bus. In saying that the bus stops right outside so is quite easy. Breakfast is served at 8.30am which is a bit early when on holiday for my taste
Review 44:Great little guest house! The rooms were lovely, very clean and with brand new bathrooms. The breakfast provided was also great
Review 45:Decor and bathroom a little dated but owner did say they were refurbishing in time for this summer.
Review 46:Owner was very friendly and helpful, really helped accommodate us with our small baby (provided travel cot and high chair) Recommended a lovely local pub for a meal on arrival. Very convenient for buses into town (although also fine to walk if you don't mind a bit of a walk)
Review 47:The shower was quite weak. Breakfast was only at 8.30am a bit early when on holiday. Other than that it was a really pleasant experience
Review 48:Friendly people very helpful.
Review 49:Didn't want to say and it's petty BUT u gotta have beans on a brekkie In fairness u do get yoghurt / cereal offered b4 fry up !!!

Review 51:Because the boss to the New Year, let me arrived a day late, but did not return the payment in advance, I need to complain! Breakfast is so normal~ The room is too small
Review 52:the bed is soft and clean ,but toilet is so small and old~
Review 53:The only bad aspect is the distance to the city centre. But if you have no problem taking a bus or taxi, the place is really worthy.
Review 54:The bedroom is really cozy, with new furniture and warm. I liked it a lot.
Review 55:There was nothing we didn't like and we will definitely stayagain.
Review 56:We stayed in the second of the 2 houses and our room was lovely. Really well decorated, big comfortable bed, TV on the wall, tea making facilities and a big rainfall shower in the ensuite bathroom. The bus stop into the centre is opposite and it's £3.50 for a day ticket which cover all bus travel in the city.
Review 57:A little far away from the city for our needs. We requested late check out, however this did not seem to be communicated to the owners. Not sure if the fault lay with the owners or Booking.com
Review 58:Lovely rooms, comfiest beds I've slept in, fantastic breakfast, owners are very friendly and helpful which made us feel welcome. We would stay there again. Day pas buses great value with bus stop right outside the Guest House
Review 59:The helpfulness of the staff at this guest house was brilliant, they gave us lots of useful information about travelling into the city centre and nothing was too much trouble. Always a smile and very welcoming. We will definitely be booking to stay there again and for a longer stay next time.
Review 60:The coffee in the morning was terrible, it was weak and watery. A good quality coffee would make all the difference.
Review 61:The proximity of the accomodation to one of the main bus routes into Edinburgh.
Review 62:room & toilet was a bit small, with crammed open closet space for hanging clothes.
Review 63:compact rooms with adequate ventilation & all amenities...friendly owners. shower had nice lighting! breakfast was good, and private parking was a plus. the best point was the rooms had ground floor access!

Review 66:It can be noisy when other guests come in/leave the house.
Review 67:Excellent breakfast, very friendly service, convenient bus to city center, private car-parking
Review 68:TV box didn't work well to switch to different channels. Breakfast is served at 8:30am, not much flexibility given, i.e. 8:30 to 9:30am would be better.
Review 69:Nice and efficient lady owner; spacious and clean room to stay with free parking. Breakfast is good.
Review 70:It was a very nice guest house and the breakfast was lovely. Having the bus stop right outside the premises was very convenient. The room was cheerful and immaculate.
Review 71:The room door opens into the main corridor, which was a bit noisy when other guests arrived.
Review 72:We spent a wonderful few days in Alpha Guest House. It was easy to find, out of the noisy, heavy traffic zone. From a bus stop on the other side of the street we could get to the Old Town in 15 minutes and the buses were frequent. We started our days with a tasty breakfast, enough to keep us going till the afternoon. We got a spacious room with a nice bathroom and a large, comfortable bed, all you can ask for trip to the city.
Review 73:Nothing really
Review 74:The location ideal,as property is bungalow ideal no stairs to climb etc.The Hostess Ada was very nice ,Breakfast was good not big Breakfast plates just enough Portion wise.Room was very clean clean towels every day although we just stayed 2 nights, Bus stops outside both ways we liked The £3.50 24 hrs ticket travel anywhere directly from the door of Hotel Plenty Parking as well.On our next visit to Edinburgh this will be where we stay for our Return visit hopefully will be later in year.Well done to Ada &l Husband
Review 75:Room was very small with no space for luggage. "Bathroom" was a shower room (no bath). Just one sitting for breakfast, at 08:30.
