Reviews for The Potting Shed

Review 1:The only criticism is the bathroom was cold but if you leave the door open it soon warms up with the woodburner on. Could do with a heated towel rail.

Review 2:We loved The Potting Shed. Great rural location and comfortable place to stay. Lovely woodburner and we had a great freshly cooked breakfast which was delivered to us in the morning. The chocolates were a nice touch. Would highly recommend.

Review 3:Put tv on wall bracket so easier to view in bed. Wifi was unavailable. But minor gripes , would stay again and recommend.

Review 4:Awesome wood burner with free wood. Very warm ,comfortable and clean. Fab breakfast.

Review 5:Spider in the loo

Review 6:Once we found the place everything was spot on The log burner was lovely and warm with loads of fuel Sandra even texted me to ask on day 2 if she should light it for us. Breakfast was super and delivered with a smile

Review 7:Couldn't fault it

Review 8:Just fab! Lovely and comfortable would recommend to anyone! Sandra was a great host, always there if needed somethings. Made us feel very welcome

Review 9:It was quite chilly in the bathroom and the fire wasnt on long enough to heat the room up before we arrived.

Review 10:Loved the space and the cleanliness. Great breakfast.

Review 11:Sandra was lovely, let us get on with it but assured us she was there if need be. The room was beautiful, very cosy with beautiful beams. The breakfast was delicious and Sandra bought it to us. Unfortunately we had to leave early due to a sad family matter but were invited back and also offered a complimentary meal too (extremely kind). Will definitely be going back and looking forward to doing so.

Review 12:I think the bathroom needs a heated towel rail it is cold even in summer . The lady who owns is very nice but quick to make herself scarce - would be nice to feel you could find out a little about area particularly when you first arrive.

Review 13:In a very good position to get to many lovely locations but nice to be in the country too. Great to have a self contained room with extra facilities - sofa, small fridge and microwave. Breakfast very tasty - some mustard would be a nice addition to the condiments.

Review 14:Sandra the owner of the Potting Shed is so lovely as is the accommodation. Attention to detail in the decorating is excellent, very clean and spacious. Will definitely be staying here again for our next visit to Devon. Ideal location as out of the way of busy town centre but close enough drive, 5 mins.

Review 15:The 5.5hr drive from London lol.

Review 16:Location was at first seemed out of the way. But totally central to everywhere illfracombe Saunton braunton Barnstaple. Great for everything. Loved it would definitely recommend.

Review 17:Well appointed, but needs a kitchen sink and worktop. There is space. No TV reception on channels 1 or 2.

Review 18:Excellent breakfast, but fresh coffee would have been welcome.

Review 19:rolled over bed collapsed under me injuring back resulting a visit to A&E was only given a refund for one night. The owner had no First Aid Cert or experience. Shower was cold and there were a large amount of cob webs.

Review 20:nothing

Review 21:The Potting Shed was great , only thing we could fault was lack of wardrobe space. Self contained but could do with a sink for washing up as there were facilities for you to cook.

Review 22:Owners were friendly but not intrusive.

Review 23:Ask for directions tricky to find however once you ask no problem at all

Review 24:This could be an holiday cottage as it's got that cosy feel. All the little things have been thought of. The wood burner is anaxing. If you are looking for a romantic break with privacy this is it. Lovely breakfast delivered to you in the morning. Well done all the lovely the Lovely things about a bed and breakfast with the added advantage of being in your own little cottage, adding complete privacy.

Review 25:Shower room was cold, perhaps a heated towel rail would help.

Review 26:Close to North Devon facilities but hidden in the country. Wood stove was fantastic, heated the large room very quickly. Breakfast bar, plates, cutlery , fridge and microwave meant you bring back a takeaway and be self contained. Park right outside shed. Chair and settee very comfortable, and able to watch TV and sit by the fire. Lovely comfortable bed with duvet and extra blankets.

Review 27:What a wonderful find. Down a narrow country lane lies this peaceful getaway. Beautifully decorated and great host. Would thoroughly recommend to a friend.

Review 28:Sandra was an excellent friendly host and the room was fantastic, very comfy bed. I can't wait to come back when it gets colder to use the log burner!!

Review 29:Knocked on owners door to say we were leaving, no answer, had paid soleft. Within 10 minutes received a voicemail accusing us of stealing apicture. We had moved it so it would not get knocked off the bedsidetable. I had to contact the owner a couple of hours later to ask it theyhad found it. The answer was 'yes thanks' no apology given.Returned home and had received a e mail from booking.com accusing us ofthe theft. Totally ruined the stay.

Review 30:Very welcoming and homing. Excellent freshly cooked breakfast. Great location in the country. Ideally located to do day trips to the beautiful beaches in Woolacombe, Saunton, Croyde, etc. Very helpful and friendy host Sandra. Would go again.

Review 31:It had been a hot day so the room was very hot with limited secure ventilation. (french doors open or locked, nothing in between) Perhaps some way could be engineered to open the two velux windows high in the pitched ceiling? Barking dogs when owner not at home. No problem when she was there.

Review 32:Remote but no problem to find with detailed directions from the owner, a lovely lady. Comfortable and unusual room, nicely furnished with many helpful items, e.g. a fridge, kettle, mineral water, tea and coffee. A wood stove.

Review 33:As a golfer I do a lot of travelling, and the comfort of the bed makes a big difference! This was a very comfortable stay and I slept very well! The Potting Shed had a very homely feel to it and I will definitely recommend it to others! The breakfast was brilliant too!!

Review 34:Just a bit tricky to find if not from around North Devon and couldn't use phone as no signal in area!

Review 35:Lovely room with personal touches and a fantastic breakfast each morning. Has good facilities such as microwave, kettle, fridge and milk, juice, water etc which is really handy! Lovely decor as well.

Review 36:VERY FRIENDLY GREAT SERVICE

Review 38:very cosy and the log burner very welcoming. Excellent facilities Fantastic FRESHLY COOKED Breakfast

Review 39:Beautiful location Beautiful place

Review 40:Difficult to locate and narrow lanes about. Pub closed!

Review 41:Quite luxurious and rural.

Review 42:Sandra and Dave could not have been more helpful as we had a major issue with our car but it was no effort for them to go the extra mile Thank you.

Review 43:no mobile signal or WiFi

Review 44:Very clean room, comfy bed and very nice breakfast.

Review 45:No mobile network/internet reception.

Review 46:Enjoyed the separate living from main house. Good space. Very peaceful.

Review 47:Very peaceful break in this lovely barn conversion, great breakfasts and facilities. Made to feel very welcome by the owner. Will come again.

Review 48:Please can you put some form of heating in the bathroom

Review 49:Cleanliness, cuteness, lovely little touches, fire was amazing

Review 50:The breakfasts were excellent and having a wood burning stove was wonderful.

Review 51:not particularly well cleaned for the amount charged

Review 52:location, privacy

Review 53:breakfast

Review 54:atmosphere

Review 55:Would go again

Review 56:Its only one point for us was the size of the bed. So we gave it good for comfort but one of us is large and we are used to a 6 foot bed. So if you ever replace the bed a larger one would make it an exceptional stay

Review 57:The friendliness of our host and as The Potting Shed is completely separate from the house you were free to come and go as you pleased. Great to have a fridge with freezer compartment for our ice block cooler and we warmed our fish and chips up in the microwave. Small things around made it all quirky, gardening books with trowel, the mugs, gardening hat and on cooler nights I bet the log burner makes it so cosy. Thank you for the chocolate and water,

Review 58:The accommodation was spotless and very welcoming. The breakfast was excellent and the little touches made the stay even more pleasant. Sandra was a lovely host giving us just the right amount of attention without being intrusive.

Review 59:Bathroom too small and damp not spacious enough and basin too small. Towels didn't dry. Disappointing No views from French windows as overlooked cars on drive. Dark as surrounded by trees. No hair dryer and could of been more complimentary toiletries. No mirror in main area which was inconvenient as bathroom one got steamed up after shower

Review 60:The log fire and welcome facilities ie fresh milk plenty tea/coffee and chocolate. Breakfast good and brought to room.

Review 61:The shower room could be improved by the addition of a heater of some sort (especially for guests during the colder months for the year).

Review 62:The owner looked after us very well. We were made to feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. There was a very efficient wood burner stove to keep the studio warm.

Review 63:Everything, perfect location, beautiful room will definitely return.

Review 64:Space, design, attention to detail. Quiet.

Review 65:A lovely, cosy and very welcoming place with a great hostess Sandra .
