Reviews for The Atlantic

Review 1:Staff were so friendly&welcoming especially as booking.com had messed up&not booked me a dog friendly move. Once staff knew they found me the correct room with no extra charge. Thank the Atlantic

Review 2:The hotel room was small and tired! The bathroom was small and could go with an update. The breakfast had cereal out of date and the cooked breakfast could of done with being hotter!

Review 3:The location was fine and the bed was comfy, we were given money off our stay when I fed back my concerns in the room.

Review 4:The staff were excellent and very helpful and we were given an upgrade of rooms at no additional cost which helped greatly in reducing stair climbing. (elderly)

Review 5:Road noise. Crossing busy road to car, car park full on arrival. Location, walked 30 mins to get into St Ives, steep walk back

Review 6:Very comfy bed and clean

Review 7:The bed we found was a bit hard for us. You can't please everyone in that department.

Review 8:Value for money. We had our old dog & they even put a dog bone in for him. I would take my slippers next time we stay.

Review 9:The suit was above bar and very noisey ,shower was broken and leaking, resteraunt food was disappointing .

Review 10:Location and breakfast were excellent , suite was well equipped , the parking was convenient

Review 11:On the English breakfast the sausage on both occasions was overcooked and dry, on one of the days I was informed there was no bread for toast. The music being played in the bar can be heard in room 12 and can be annoying in the evening and in the morning,

Review 12:Apart from the music from the bar the room was clean and comfortable and value for money, the staff were peasant and helpful.

Review 13:Surprised to be asked to pay full bill as soon as we arrived. Room was rather small and bathroom cramped. Didn't like finding pink razor from previous occupants in soap tray Dirt and grime under the taps and hoovering had missed corners of the room

Review 14:The location and car park were fine Staff were helpful and breakfast was OK without being top notch Food in restaurant was good..but menu a little limited

Review 15:Room 6 is above kitchen, loud music and garbage can noises, annoying Ate in the lounge one night, food terrible, soggy pizza ,also 4 tough chicken wings for 5.95 pounds crazy price, guess we Canadians are spoiled

Review 16:Helpful staff,especially Tom & Conner

Review 17:The hotel seem to have a policy of hiring very lovely ladies. Long may it continue. Breakfast is very good and the bar is a nice place to spend an evening

Review 18:Mold in the bathroom. Breakfast disappointing. Internet worked only periodically and slowly. Window was broken and didn't shut properly. Very noisy as really bad sounds proofing.

Review 19:Bathroom was far to small and the shower was poor. There was no headboard on the bed which was situated on a cold external wall. Service in the dining room was a bit slow but the food was good

Review 20:Friendly staff and good location

Review 21:The only fly in the ointment was the bottle bin collection at around 4:30 am with the workers conversing loudly right below our room. Only lasted a very short time (30 seconds or so) but the sound of the bottles crashing into the lorry woke us with a jolt

Review 22:Small but nice comfortable and clean with friendly helpful staff. Probably 30 minutes walk or 7 minute bus ride from town centre with the bus stop 30 seconds walk away.

Review 23:Only down to visit was a broken shower fixing which meant u couldn't stand under the shower - you had to physically hold it. Quite difficult to then wash longish hair with one hand! Also view from window not so good as quite close to neighbours back yard and felt needed blinds closed. Always ask for a front facing room as accommodation v good generally.

Review 24:Relaxed, friendly and eager to please. Good info on area and how best to get there without using car. V comfortable room. Excellent breakfast.

Review 25:The amount of stairs to climb. The size of the room was very small, poor value for money, the shower hose was dirty, no plug sockets, remote didn't work for the television. No plates or knives for the toast with the cooked breakfast.

Review 26:Manager was very unprofessional on my arrival and seemed reluctant to book me in early even though my room was available and empty. the view was horrendous and the room tiny and poor value for money. would not stay there again!!!!!!!

Review 27:service , food

Review 28:None - if anything, would have been nice to have a slightly bigger bathroom

Review 29:Great place to stay just outside of St Ives. Walking distance to beach and the restaurant food was delicious. Treated very well by staff, key for returning late after a wedding in the area. Would recommend.

Review 30:When we arrived we were told that the family room we had booked, was already booked. The other family took priority as they had 5 nights stay and we had 1, although we were the first to arrive!! This was very disappointing as the kids were really looking forward to staying in the bunk beds. Although the man on reception was quite helpful in getting 2 single camp beds set up in the room it was still a little cramped and not what we expected. We did complain and they gave us back £12 and a drink each while we waited. A disappointed start to the holiday. If we book again we will definitely ring a couple months prior and make sure that it doesn't happen again as he did tell us that it had happened several times recently so unsure why they didn't have some way of checking. also on printed receipt it stated family room??

Review 31:Location was great, breakfast very good

Review 32:No internet could do with a good clean sticky table for breakfast room could dowith lick of paint but not abad place for the price

Review 33:Good staff great food

Review 34:Bedroom and bathroom stank of cigarettes Hair on sausage at breakfast and no apology from waiter when this was pointed out

Review 35:Manager was good at dealing with our issue and complaints

Review 36:lack of breakfast! no chef so no breakfast! - the duty manager should be trained to do this! no apology for this either. had to ask for refund on this, was not offered. Wifi was awful in the rooms, hardly worked. No housekeeping.

Review 37:check in staff intially - very efficent and friendly

Review 38:The wifi hardly worked at all - really poor.

Review 39:Room was small but functional. Well run place but no personal touches that a smaller guest house might offer.

Review 40:A little bit noisy as it close to the main road, can hear the cars going pass.

Review 41:Staffs are friendly and helpful, breakfasts are good. The room ( family suite)is good size for family with 2 children.Location is close to Carbis Bay.

Review 42:Room was situated facing the back yard. Clanging of beer barrels all weekend. Rooms were small and the bathroom was scruffy will fluff and mildew on roof and walls

Review 43:The staff were very friendly

Review 44:The bar could have had a quieter area with no tv screen. The rooms initially were done to a good standard and lovely taste but on closer inspection there were a few faults/chips/breaks in the bathroom. Eg the lights didn't turn off, the plug was broken, and the sink was cracked. However everything was nice and clean which is rather more important!

Review 45:The location was good, with nice views and within easy reach of Penzance Harbour. we didn't eat breakfast as we had an early start but we ate in the bar in the evening, the food was fine and had a decent choice. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 46:Nothing really. Some things to be desired: The bathroom could have been more comfortable, and a fridge in the room would have been excellent. But it also makes sense not to have one there for environmental reasons.

Review 47:Excellent breakfast, especially the stint. Dinner is also great. Very good pizza and seafood. Good value for money too.

Review 48:We had arranged an extra bed in our room but no record of this ( despite extra cost added) and wasn't expecting her. Blind broken. No remote for TV. Very small room, just not same value for money as we have had in b n bs. This was meant to be our treat after doing s w coastal path. But staff really did all they could to overcome shortcomings of management issues.

Review 49:Staff really tried to sort problems( no record of extra person and bed as arranged on phone) breakfast took an hour to come, short staffed.

Review 50:Someone using the Hoover at 730 every morning...breakfast isn't served until 830 so why would you wake guests up with a Hoover at 730?!? Price could be cheaper for size of the room.

Review 51:The staff wasn't very welcome, a guy at reception was a bit rude and strict. Breakfast wasn't very nice, no tea spoons for a coffee, was told that ran out and use fork or knife.

Review 52:Lanyon (served breakfast) was great (so cheerful. Manager very helpful. Bus very close was better than finding parking in St Ives. I had a bit of difficulty finding a parking space opposite the hotel

Review 53:A bit noisy at night with doors banging and humming noises possibly from showers. Unfortunately my view was of the fire escape at the rear!

Review 54:The breakfast was excellent and the restaurant for an evening meal. Loved the special. The bar area was good as was the garden. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Review 55:Single room was a little small

Review 56:Nice to have a restaurant and bar facilities. On a local bus route to St Ives and Carbis Bay railway stn only 15 to 20 mins walk. The owner Julie was very friendly and plenty of atmosphere in the bar

Review 57:Staff were so friendly and we had a lovely relaxing time. The food was excellent in the restaurant too!! They couldn't be more helpful. We highly recommend this hotel.

Review 58:Shower was quite outdated and very small and no wifi signal from the top floor

Review 59:Lovely hotel staff who went out of their way for us. Nice breakfast options which was included in the price. A little out from St Ives town but a short drive/bus trip otherwise a nice coastal walk from carbis bay. Basic but comfortable rooms and bed.

Review 60:Standard room and bathroom quite small.

Review 61:Bar area was very good for relaxing in the evening and drinks reasonably priced. The manager couldnt have been more helpful and really made an effort to make sure we enjoyed our stay.

Review 62:Room was very very hot and stuffy and we asked for a fan but were told there wasn't one available and we should open the window further (which it wouldn't). Neither bed had a bedside table and the wardrobe was tiny and poorly designed.

Review 63:Almost all the staff were very friendly, cheerful and helpful.

Review 64:Decor tired. Really could do with a refresh.

Review 65:Staff were great - very friendly and obviously care about the hotel and comfort of guests. Location unbeatable.

Review 66:If you're a light sleeper be prepared if your room is on the front the road is busy all night long! And the curtains are lightweight.

Review 67:Hotel had great facilities, breakfast with Lenny was a perfect start to the day and the restaurant has a wonderful and extensive menu. The staff are friendly and make you feel so at home, the service they give is excellent with great attention to detail. The location is amazing just a short walk to Carbis Bay which is stunning and 5 minutes drive to Porthminster beach which is wonderful(apart from the seagulls!) and into St.Ives which is full of good restaurants, bars, cafes, galleries and gift shops. Our twin room was small but comfortable, it was the only room left as booked last minute. We would definitely recommend it and visit again

Review 68:Unfortunately our room window viewed onto the fire escape ladder, but otherwise everything else very good.

Review 69:Very friendly staff, nice welcome, breakfast excellent especially the kippers, comfy bed.

Review 70:Owners and staff charming, nothing too much trouble. Perfect location, short walk to beach at Carbis Bay, or bus stop to St Ives 2 minute walk. Good food, friendly atmosphere, lovely clean room with sea view.

Review 71:There was nothing to dislike, really lovely hotel.

Review 72:The rooms were great, the bed was comfy we had everything we needed in the room, the staff were very welcoming and friendly, lovely bar area and perfect location for the Carbis bay and St Ives, the breakfast was also very good, will definitely book here again.

Review 73:No lift En suite needs updating only one hand towel rail no shelves dated electric shower and shower curtain.

Review 74:Staff excellent. Restaurant good quality

Review 75:Price was reasonable for the area, but the breakfast and the accommodation would no represent particularly good value in other locations. This part of Cornwall is pricey!

Review 76:The location in Carbis Bay is lovely. The hotel was clean and modern with a friendly staff.

Review 77:The wifi only works in the bar. The room had no towel rail, no chair. The towel and toiletries were not replaced on the 2 nd day tho the towel was taken away. Both days the breakfast order was wrong ( tho I did not point it out either day)

Review 78:We got great assistance with how to get around & things to see & do. The dining room serves an excellent dinner in the evenings. The breakfasts were perfect. No complaints whatever.

Review 79:Woken at 3am by seagulls, not an uncommon problem in St Ives, just closed the window and went back to sleep!

Review 80:Easy access to train station, Carbis Bay and main roads. Lovely staff and a decent breakfast to send us on our way. Many thanks

Review 81:The walls are a tiny bit thin. If there is noise in the next room or if the seagulls are going crazy outside the window, one might find it difficult to sleep for too long in the morning.

Review 82:There was an open mic night on Friday when we were there. It turned out to be a cool live music night. It is a lovely place, the staff was really helpful.

Review 83:We loved it here, the hotel is very comfortable and has a bar, restaurant and outside seating area with wonderful views of Carbis bay. We were made to feel very welcome by the friendly owners and staff, and the food was delicious. We are looking forward to coming back ...can't wait!

Review 84:We booked a standard double room as it was all they had left. I would recommend paying a little more for a better room as ours was on the ground floor and was quite noisy in the mornings as you could hear the cleaners and the set up for the morning. That's the only thing we could say which wasn't great about this place

Review 85:Great hotel great location staff friendly and approachable nice setting would recommend paying a little more for a better room.

Review 86:Lack of adequate parking On returning from a concert in town at 11 PM and looking for a nightcap, bar staff insisted the bar shut at 11. Very nice about it and offered the opportunity for us to take a bottle away, but we wanted to sit and chat about thew concert, not go to bed and drink! A bit of flexibility needed I think.

Review 87:Cleanliness, modernity

Review 88:New owners were lovely, happily provided us with everything we needed. If we'd known they could provide a picnic would have saved us a trip to tesco. Most definitely stay again. Staff were lovely. Had a DVD provided... although was a twist to that. But I have to say was funny & was good for us. Owner took on board that it was a good idea to supply a famliy pack,to entertain the children, would be worth doing..!!

Review 89:I didn't like the bathroom in our room it needs updating badly the room was a bit small considering we travelled with a baby

Review 90:The staff were really nice breakfast delicious very pleasant stay

Review 91:The room was very hot and stuffy when we arrived and had to leave the windows open to air it out and cool it down. The shower /bathroom facilities were quite small and dated

Review 92:The breakfast was great a lovely menu and selection and great value for money We also had lunch here when we arrived and the food is fantastic The staff make you feel really welcome and are very helpful

Review 93:Rooms can be noisy from other guests and bar, room furnature was worn and tired, and wifi wasn't working for our stay.

Review 94:Restaurant was very good, as is location and price.

Review 95:The only things that were slightly disappointing was that we were very much looking foward to the good due to the great reviews although we Wernt yhat impressed by it. There was a huge amount of salt on a lot of things and they lacked vegetarian options. The whole time we were there tgere was no veggie sausages for breakfast and at our Easter meal I was offered meet gravy withy meal because they didn't have a veggie alternative. But overall it was a loverly place to stay and would definatly go back.

Review 96:We had a loverly room overlooking the sea. The staff were very friendly and welcoming on arrival and happy to help out. Loverly Atmosphere.

Review 97:The room would have been too small for a longer stay, no bedside cabinets was inconvenient and only one chair so one of us had to lay on the bed to watch TV which made my neck hurt. Breakfast was disappointing, especially the visual display on the main table. Toast cold, no side plates, awful, cheap jam.

Review 98:The staff were friendly and welcoming, we had a sea view, everything was nice and clean and the new decor was nice. The meal we had was good.

Review 99:Asked for a double bed for a couple and got 2 singles. Uncomfortable. Asked for early check in well in advance and I didn't even get a reply.

Review 100:Good location - was visiting The Carbis Bay Hotel and it was only 10-15 minute walk Reasonable price for the location

Review 101:Room could have been cleaner. There was a piece of what looked like dog food lying by the side of the bed. WiFi didn't work.

Review 102:Safe bicycle storage.

Review 103:The wi-fi went down at the beginning of our stay and didn't come back on for the rest of the week. The owners did try their best to get it reinstated. The window in our room (21) needs replacing it sounded like it was wide open all night and we had a lot of traffic noise due to being near the main road.

Review 104:The staff, the facilities and the food all excellent.

Review 105:Was disappointed that my card was charged after booking with booking.com and ws informed of this on check in. It probably is in the fine print that they can, which would be my error but most places I stay with booking.com bookings don't charge my card PRIOR to arrival and then I have the option of paying cash. Kettle was one third full of water which had obviously been there for a long time. As I have worked in housekeeping I know sometimes things get overlooked and I don't get too perturbed by these things. When approaching the duty manager at the bar that evening he acknowledged the state of it. I asked if I could have another kettle. None was provided. The kettle sat in the bar area overnight and I saw it there the following morning. I had to go down to the bar if I wanted hot water for a cup of tea that night and in the morning ( which being an early riser was impossible to have anything before breakfast waiting staff appeared) Having also worked in reception I know how easy it is to remedy such an easily fixed problem. I could also tell the hotel was not full and another kettle COULD have been obtained from another room... felt that he couldn't be bothered truthfully. Had difficulty accessing wifi... not due to my phone.

Review 106:Clean, spacious breakfast area and very pleasant staff at breakfast. Single Room was clean.

Review 107:Bathroom needs updating and there was a light outside for their sign that was far too bright and shown through the curtains all night.

Review 108:Nice staff, good food, stressless stay

Review 109:The room was very small, the shower was useless, either scalding,or cold. The wifi non existent. The noise from the bar was horrific, until one o'clock.

Review 110:The room was warm, the bed comfortable

Review 111:The room smelt stale even though it was clean. The sheets were not changed even though they were stained and the room had been serviced. Cracked and broken bathroom basin.

Review 112:Very good value and excellent quality bar food and free breakfast, cold and hot. Great fun quiz night with even better value bar food (50% off normal cost) Very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 113:Ensuittoneeds updating

Review 114:Lovely place to stay just out of the hustle & bustle but an easy walk to St Ices down the coastal path great scenery ! Or get bus train or taxi in a couple of mins. The bar is nice as is the restaurant. it's 4 stars accommodation room was great but ensuite needs upgrading although shower worked well room was nice and warm. Will go again but the new owners are nice people and I'm sure they have plans !

Review 115:Bed was a bit hard we booked a double bed but got twin beds instead! But i must be honest we didn't complain.

Review 116:We loved the food and staff were so friendly and welcoming will definitely be staying there again ☺

Review 117:One window was little problematic to open

Review 118:Beautiful place. Had a nice and clean room with sea view Clean and tidy around the location Very warm room (to hot for me but perfect for my girlfriend)

Review 119:Room 16 is over the restaurant and on the front of the building, it is very loud with passing traffic, guests outside smoking and chatting directly under the window of the room. When cleaners or staff setting up for next day the noise was very disturbing.

Review 120:Staff very good and helpful. Breakfast very good and restaurant would recommend Atmosphere quite lively and fun

Review 121:Was bed only, any food was extra. Was informed that they had a racing night and dining room was closed-1st night we arrived. Was told that we would be in a room at the back because of any noise they would make, but were put in top room of hotel. Bedside lamps were on window ledge, no where near beds. No table to use and only 1 chair in a twin room.

Review 122:Position of hotel. Free parking. Comfortable beds

Review 123:The carpark is opposite the hotel, not safe for family with children (need to cross the road to get to our car)

Review 124:The WiFi coverage in ground floor was good.staff are friendly

Review 125:Would of been good if breakfast was included in the price.

Review 126:Staff were very friendly, room was bright and clean. Had a fantastic stay. Would defiantly go back there. Good parking area and bus stop just outside.

Review 127:Very tiny single room. Ok for 1 night but too confined for any longer. Breakfast pricey and should be included.

Review 128:Nice friendly staff. Good bar and restaurant. Great Sunday roast. Free parking.

Review 129:Noisy-party in bar below room and noise from terrace that the room overlooked until 2.30AM. Small shower room. Noisy fridge, we turned off at the wall. We were told about the party on arrival but that was it, perhaps a discount or a free breakfast would have been appropriate?! Bloke on reception didn't seem to know what he was doing.

Review 130:Comfy bed, sea view, large room.

Review 131:everything was great, and the staff were amazing when I'd lost a really important piece of jewelleryI managing to find it and keep it safe for me! so grateful! also they put cucumber in hendricks #winners

Review 132:The room was very small and there was no free wifi. The bath room/toilet has got to the smallest we've come across. There's no lift so be prepared to lug your bags up the floors. Also free parking is available, but it is across the rather busy street (St Ives Road).

Review 133:St Ives is known to be one of the more expensive places in UK, so this place is considered good value for money. And you've got to try the pizza in the adjoining restaurant!

Review 134:Didn't like a single thing regarding the room. Couldn't swing a cat in that tiny space! You get into the poor excuse for a bed and immediately roll to the sag in the middle. Has the narrowest staircase I've ever come across. Had no sleep whatsoever and couldn't wait to get out of there.

Review 135:Had the best ever Roast Pork dinner in the Restaurant.
