Reviews for Le Clos de la Glycine

Review 1:In the heart of roussillon! Absolutely beautiful.. So much so I walked in the rain to photo shoot! Staff were particularly attentive. " in hotel restaurant" was amazing and the scenery kinda like Utah!! SWEET!!

Review 2:We had the Room L'Eglantine which had a large terrace and a view over the valley. This room was one of the most expensive rooms in the hotel. However, while the hotel had an elevator, the elevator did not service the floor for this room. We had to carry our own bags up steps, without help offered by the hotel. For the price paid, your bags should be taken to your room.

Review 3:Location and views from room

Review 4:Reception staff never been on place. We called, chattering, shouted, waited, then gave up and left the room keys and left hotel (or vice versa taken alone) because it was requirement of hotel policy. Technically, anyone off the street could come in and do the same and to enter into any room. This is explained by the fact that some of the same people are working simultaneously on reception and serving in the restaurant. Breakfast - very expensive 14 euros per person. Continental Breakfast - orange juice, coffee, croissants learning that breakfast is very light we canceled the reservation but the waiter told us that we still need to pay (because we have reserved seats in advance) Thank Elise -she solved this problem

Review 5:A superb location overlooking the orches. Clean, quiet, hotel reserved for us a parking place (no charge), good restaurant Chez David for dinner, hotel has elevator and air conditioning.

Review 6:Due to a car mishap we had to drive through dark Provence, arriving at 10 pm. We had no GPS but the helpful Receptionist guided us from Marseille to Roussillon, and on arrival in our lovely room (all the lamps were turned on making it look so welcoming), the management provided us with food and wine in our room as we had eaten nothing since breakfast. My friend and I cannot thank them enough for their kindness. Their French-style breakfasts, the views from the hotel and its wonderful location make this hotel a must if visiting Roussillon.

Review 7:If an elevator is a must for handling luggage, specify that Floor 1.5 is not acceptable. Restaurant is upper level in pricing--check out the posted menu. It does have a terrific view if you get a window table. Streets are crowded, lots of rude tourists.

Review 8:Had room with a terrace with an awesome view--it is on floor "first & a half". The elevator does not service this floor. But the view offset the pain of handling luggage up a flight of stairs. Be sure to reserve parking space if you have a car. Top of hill has good restaurants with great terraces with views.

Review 9:It should be noted that, while parking is free, the lot is about 400 feet from the hotel. Parking in front of the hotel on a very narrow village street is difficult for registering and unloading baggage. Instead, you need to park in a nearby village lot with a 3 hour limit , IF you can find space, and pay for the time spent there. The lady at the front desk was not in any way helpful and seemed to lack even fundamental knowledge of nearby points of interest. In short, she seemed to not want to be there and that hardly made us feel welcome. In addition, we felt that the facility was significantly over priced. Our advice ... stay in a neighboring village such as Murs.

Review 10:The room was clean, quiet, quite large and well appointed. Location is central to the village.

Review 11:A free token for parking is available but its a bit of a trek from the hotel. For the price I would have expected breakfast to be included.

Review 12:The location was perfect with a wonderful view from our bedroom of the main attraction which are the ochre cliffs. We stepped outside right into the local market marvellous!

Review 13:great location; room had a beautiful view of the red cliffs. Room was comfortable.

Review 14:WiFi didn't ; and staff didn't seem to care. It was sometimes difficult to find staff to answer questions.

Review 15:The Clos de la Glycine is truly a jewel in the crown of the beautiful village of Rousillon. It is easy to understand why both the village and the hotel are award-winning entities. Luckily, I spotted on a blog to ask for one of the 5 hotel parking spaces - 4 outside and one in the garage. If you are driving in, this is a must for the town is tight and with narrow streets. The staff was over the top and so patient and helpful. Dinner at David's is a romantic and delicious experience. Ask for one of the tables on the covered porch overlooking the ochre gorge. Sunsets are breathtaking.

Review 16:It did not have onsite parking, we had to pull up outside and ask in reception and ask where to park. We were given directions to a public car park and given a ticket to get out for free the next morning. It was not very near the hotel.

Review 17:The restaurant had lovely views and the food was amazing. The room large, nicely decorated and very well equipped. It was also cool inside which was a relief as it was about 35 degrees outside that day.

Review 18:Tha air conditioner would not come on at all, not even the fan! We were very uncomfortable and they did nothing to fix it. The man insisted it was working but never checked it. We got the room because it was supposed to be air conditioned. They would not refund any money. I would never stay there again.

Review 19:Location

Review 20:Dinner in the restaurant was a bit disappointing for a one-star establishment. Felt like a "menu touristique" rather than a place that took pride in serving guests (even if they are transient).

Review 21:Small, professionally run hotel with lovely view and great location. Room was spacious, bed was very comfortable, bathroom was bright and cheery. The breakfast was delicious and peaceful. Young ladies on staff in the afternoon were helpful. Very nice view from room.

Review 22:Our negative comments on our stay 2 years ago was that the breakfast wasidentical on each of the 5 days we stayed at the hotel. Two years laterthe breakfast was identical - absolutely no variation or choice! The reception staff (male) on our arrival was not very welcoming. The reception staff during our stay (female, in training) was very pleasant and helpful.

Review 23:The location is good. The view from our terrace was superb. We stayed here 2 years ago. This time we felt that the hotel was looking a little tired and needs some maintenance before it starts to look less than acceptable.

Review 24:The shower was a bit poor and there was no tea/coffee facilities in the bedroom.

Review 25:The views from our particular bedroom the "genet" was absolutely stunning. The location of the hotel is perfectly situated to all the local restaurants and attractions..

Review 26:Internet was intermittent at best. Needed to go downstairs to the lobby to have uninterrupted service.

Review 27:Room was clean, comfortable, and nicely decorate. Excellent location in the village.

Review 28:if you have a large car then parking is some distance away. Not good if you have mobility problems

Review 29:my son had his wedding celebration in Roussillon . . . . the hotel was in a perfect location with stunning views from the lovely terrace.

Review 30:Very poor wifi in the rooms..one had o go to the lobby for good reception.

Review 31:Location and nearby free hotel parking on main road.. Comfortable rooms and one couple in our group of six were given a room with balconey.

Review 32:Lack of conventional shower facility What was available not safe for older people

Review 33:Your staff were wonderful nothing was too much trouble our stay was just wonderful. Food was superb.

Review 34:One complaint: The bathroom tub has a hand held shower with no mounting on the wall. It must be held at all times. There is no shower curtain or glass partitioning which makes showering difficult. How about a short piece of glass to protect the rest of the bathroom?

Review 35:If you are visiting the very picturesque Luberon hill town of Roussillon a stay at the Le Clos de la Glycine is a must. It lives up to its reputation as the premier hotel in the area. We loved it, certainly in part due to our selection of, way ahead of traveling, a room with a terrace overlooking the valleys and far mountains, a spacious terrace with views to die for. You can have breakfast served on your terrace and enjoy your idyllic surroundings. The room interior floors are tiled with varied ochre pastel shades and the walls are textured with pigmentation from local “ochre” sources. Roussillon is world famous for its ochre production origins. The hotel has a highly rated restaurant, David. It, like the hotel, lives up to its reputation with a windowed dining room overlooking the valley and mountains and serving exquisite cuisine. Well worth the price.

Review 36:The continental breakfast. Too much bread, store bought orange juice (not fresh). Fortunately there was fresh fruit on the table. Wifi was very intermittent, in our room. It worked fine in reception area.

Review 37:Dinner in the restaurant. Meal quality and service were excellent. Hotel location was fabulous.

Review 38:good central location in town, but very congested with day trippers when we arrived in afternoon. Also, hotel does not have parking at the facility and we couldn't even pull the car up to the door to unload the luggage as street is so narrow.Restaurant was elegant and food good, but overrated. Service was lacking and very slow.

Review 39:Our breakfast was superb in its variety. Our dinner did not live up to the plaudits we had read about the restaurant. It fell below our expectations.

Review 40:Loved the location besides the Ochres and being in the center of the town. Our room was very charming and quite comfortable. Would recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Provence.

Review 41:The only negative was there was no shower only a bathtub with a hand held water device. It would have been nice to have shower enclosures to be able to use that more efficiently.

Review 42:We loved staying in the middle of town and it was a wonderful location to travel to other places. The staff could not have been more helpful in suggesting places to visit. The restaurant at the hotel had the most amazing views and food. We had such a wonderful visit to Roussillon and can't wait to go back.

Review 43:Restaurant David was quite good but not as good as we were expecting. Admittedly, we had read a lot about this restaurant so, maybe we were expecting a little too much.

Review 44:This was a very good hotel right in the centre of Roussillon. It also has stunning views over the surrounding countryside as well as the ochre cliffs, of course.

Review 45:Great location, friendly staff and excellent restaurant.

Review 46:Not having coffee in the room.

Review 47:location.

Review 48:Location incredible

Review 49:Beautiful room and view

Review 50:Parking is a bit far away.

Review 51:Excellent view. Helpful staff. Good Restaurant.

Review 52:great location and great restaurant

Review 53:Nothing !

Review 54:The character of the interior , the location and the quality of service .

Review 55:No garden, terrace or sitting area for relaxing

Review 56:Location, spacious comfortable room, views

Review 57:The service wasn't hugely friendly

Review 58:The view over the ochre cliffs from our room

Review 59:restaurant highly over rated

Review 60:location, view

Review 61:If they could make the loading and unloading of our auto more convenient it would improve our overall experience.

Review 62:Beautiful facility and view

Review 63:Overall pretty average but for the price I guess that's all you get for the money

Review 64:The lady who prepared breakfast.

Review 65:Gem of a place!

Review 66:Free wifi kept dropping out

Review 67:View of ochre cliffs. Location in centre of village

Review 68:Position, Food, staff and views of ochre cliffs.

Review 69:Bed was a little hard.

Review 70:Restaurant was fantastic! Facility spotless and beautiful. Spectacular view.

Review 71:Poor job cleaning restroom. Wifi reception was hit and miss; more miss.

Review 72:Proximity.

Review 73:Electronics infrastructure is outdated, slows down businesstransactions, guest Wi-Fi connections, etc. Parking is on a par with therest of Europe but many travelers would find it inconvenient.

Review 74:Excellent restaurant Excellent setting - excellent setting in scenicRoussillon Beautiful rooms Coffee makers in some rooms Cooperative staff

Review 75:We stayed in the cheapest room in the hotel, but I came away with the view that it was overpriced. It is one of 6 hotels that I recently stayed at in Provence and it is the only one for which I am complaining about the price. Nonetheless, the location is very good and I agree that the appropriate amount to pay for location, location, location depends on what the market will bear -- if they can make it work, more power to them, but one of the nights we were there, I think we were the only ones in the hotel, but other nights they were more full. The room itself was quite nice except for one of those handheld showers in a tub with no curtain or tub door. Those setups are very awkward to use because if you move the wrong way, you've just sprayed water all over the bathroom. Again, I only speak about the cheapest room in the place, which was still on the high side of what I was paying throughout Provence with nicer shower situations. One of my complaints about Roussillon was that the meals weren't quite as good as I was finding in other towns. I was there in the shoulder season so maybe better options are there in the peak season???

Review 76:I have a slightly mixed feeling about the hotel but overall it is certainly a nice place so that on balance I would recommend it. Location is great in the heart of the tiny town of Roussillon. Ask them to reserve a parking space for you -- that was a nice amenity and worthwhile. We did not try their luxurious Restaurant David but opted for more moderately priced restaurants in town. One of my complaints about Roussillon was that the meals weren't quite as good as I was finding in other towns. The best place was La Sirmonde just up the street on the corner. I was there in the shoulder season so maybe better options are there in the peak season??? An alternative to staying in Roussillon is to just drive into town late in the day, like 4 or 4:30 or even later. with luck the crowds will be thinning but you'll still have time to do the Sentier des Ocres (check for their closing time) - highly recommended -- and to just stare at the beautiful ocre cliffs and to walk around town in the late afternoon and early evening. It is definitely worth seeing the place.

Review 77:We had requested a gluten free breakfast for my wife but nothing was provided for her (apart from the lovely fruit - kiwi fruit, grapes, oranges, apples). Also our room had a shower but no shower curtain which meant a wet bathroom floor after each shower.

Review 78:The location of the hotel in the middle of a most attractive village. Our room had a fantastic view, unfortunately the weather at Christmas wasn't warm enough for us to sit on the patio! The staff were very friendly. The room was so quiet at night and we had a wonderful view of the stunning ochre quarries at breakfast.

Review 79:They had a nice fireplace, but never lit it on the cold days we were there.

Review 80:The view on the ochre cliffs, and the smart decoration of Aubergine room was great. The restaurant Davide was pricey, but helped make a good impression for my girlfriend. The food was impressive.

Review 81:Bedroom a little small for the price, though it had a lovely terrace that would be great in the summer (we were there end October so weather not warm enough) Dinner a little overpriced

Review 82:Lovely views and location, Quiet and peaceful. Immaculate presentation Delicious breakfast

Review 83:The elevator stops are between floors - a bit strange

Review 84:Great view over valley - ask for the room with terrace. Hotel restaurant - David - is the best restaurant in the town

Review 85:Staff in restaurant could have provided more information on the winelist and been more friendly.

Review 86:Upscale hotel, the best one of our trip. Gorgeous view of thecountryside from our window. Very nice, modern, well lit bathroom. Foodwas excellent! Dessert was one of the best I have ever had.

Review 87:One clock that chimes the hour on the hour - and then again 8 minutes later. OK at 1 am but not so good at midnight!

Review 88:The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the valley was a fantastic experience. Rousillon is a Village perché and Le Clos de Glycine is right in the middle of it with everything within a few minutes walk. Parking is very convenient and free. Cuisine was outstanding. WiFi worked!

Review 89:The fabulous gourmet David Restaurant; the location; the view; the staff helpfulness in providing sightseeing information; the solution the hotel provided for parking my car;

Review 90:When I booked on the hotel website I immediately "fell" in Book.com. On your site, I was booking the LAST AVAILABLE room, when I entered the hotel, there was a sign clearly saying that ROOMS were available!

Review 91:The location in the village of Roussillon and the terrasse with a magnificent view. The food was better than most rest.

Review 92:Hotel breakfast was in sharp contrast vs restaurant - not worth 13 eurosfor orange juice from concentrated pack , a piece of bread, croissantand coffee and "homemade yoghurt" which tasted poorly. Pleasedo not waste money - better go to lourmarin or nearby village where youcan get a whole "brunch" for 9 euros including all bove withfresh orange juice and eggs!

Review 93:Hotel with plenty of charm right at the center of roussillon nice roomwith great views over sentier des ocres best restaurant around withgreat views and good food

Review 94:Our room at Le Clos de la Glycine was spacious, very clean, restful, nicely decorated in a Provencal style. The breakfast was generous. We overlooked the Luberon valley as well as the very colourful ochres of the cliffs opposite .Staff very polite and helpful.Restaurant on the terrace excellent.

Review 95:Not having any outside space to relax in.Next time we will splash out and book the room with the terrace. We will return.

Review 96:The bedroom was beautifully furnished and the bathroom was immaculate. The restaurant is a gourmands delight and the views superlative.

Review 97:Beautiful rooms, magnificent view of valley/vineyards/ mountains from terrace of room; superb restaurant; friendly, helpful, English speaking staff.

Review 98:Great little hotel in the town of Roussillon. Close to other villages that were great day trips. Excellent restaurant. Made accommodations for our large van in their garage so parking was not an issue. Great country feel.

Review 99:the toilet bowl was installed too high from standard height.

Review 100:Rooms are nice, Provence decoration style, big & cosy. we had booked for 4 rooms. every window in each room got beautiful view to around Roussillon town. Restaurant David down stair is very good to dinning

Review 101:Breakfast was very good BUT EXACTLY identical every morning - no choice / variation. This was ok for a couple of mornings but no longer than that, in our opinion. A Tip - When parking your car please remember to replace the "barrier/post" to discourage non guests from parking in your reserved space. I didn't on one day and it contributed to an adjacent car being damaged.

Review 102:Excellent Hotel. Room (Le Genet) was superb with a wonderful large terrace and views over the valley. Reception staff (eg.Lea) very helpful regarding local places to visit. We would definitely return.

Review 103:The hotel is located right in town which gets very crowded during theday, however, by staying in this hotel you can take advantage of thequiet morning and evening time when the beauty Roussillon is best. Iwould also mention that in the hotel you are immune from any of thestreet noise.

Review 104:Hotel is very warm and charming, but extremely comfortable, modern, and super clean! Our room (Le Pimperelle) had a gorgeous view ofthe countryside, was very bright, airy, spacious, and the staffmost helpful! We ate at the restaurant Davids which was also awonderful treat.

Review 105:Wish we had had a view of the countryside instead of street. Still really enjoyed our stay there.

Review 106:Our room was wonderful. The location is perfect for walking around Roussillon. Found great restaurants!

Review 107:No complaints - they even turned back the beds at night. It was wonderful.

Review 108:This is a beautiful place to stay with lovely rooms, decorated tastefully and with a fantastic location in the heart of Roussillon. The food is superb - the best I have ever had in France - the restaurant did receive a Michelin star some years ago and it is still good, though very reasonable in price. We all loved the place and it will continue to be a strong memory.

Review 109:Everything. We find this place welcoming and discreet, a staff ready to take care of us in a handsome environment (the glycine is a wonder!), a perfect breakfast, a beautiful view from the terrace. The room comfortable and charming (but not too charming). Parking is included, a must in this crowded, sought-after town. A delightful home away from home - we have stayed before and will stay again! The Restaurant David presents elegant and delicious food. Recommended as well.

Review 110:Dinner in the restaurant was delicious and the staff delightful. Theservce was rather long winded with lengthy gaps between courses but thisis a minor point when compared to the overall experience of staying inthis delightful little hotel.

Review 111:Great location in the centre of Roussillon. The staff were friendly andvery helpful; I had forgotten the cable for my iPhone and they kindlycharged it each morning while I had breakfast. They were also extremelypatient and helpful with my very basic French. Lovely room on the 2ndfloor with stunning views of the hills of Provence. I would definitelystay here again.

Review 112:We happen to prefer a standing shower (our room had a tub), and the veryinteresting, but not well-placed wc paper holder meant that the roll wasalways on the floor...or maybe the toilet space was too cramped? A verytiny detail!

Review 113:Everything. This hotel was nearly perfect for us. The staff friendly andrelaxed, helpful, and available, the room was generous, attractive andvery comfortable as was the bed. The bathroom was good. We had privateparking. Breakfast was terrific, served in a beautiful room with breath-taking views, in the restaurant David, which was also an excellenteating experience, more than once, for us. Not to mention the location,in the center of Roussillon overlooking the Luberon valley..

Review 114:I felt that Roussilon is a little different than other Provencal towns. (landscape, architecture)

Review 115:Great location, staff very friendly, restaurant one of best in the region. Parking was easy too.

Review 116:Bit cold in bed in the night

Review 117:loved the position

Review 118:Conveniently located, attractive, clean, pleasant staff, wonderful restaurant with superb views

Review 119:parking can be a problem

Review 120:roussillon

Review 121:Receptionist was not helpful.

Review 122:Good location and nice hotel room.

Review 123:Nothing

Review 124:Room with terrace and view, very friendly and helpful staff

Review 125:The staff is very friendly. The dinner is very good. The view is very beautiful from the room . I'd like to visit again.

Review 126:Unforgettable! Mountain view, Breakfast was excellent! Wine card... Best Hotel of my France trip

Review 127:Food on restaurant over.priced and over rated...except for breakfast which was excellent.

Review 128:Location staff comfortable

Review 129:The free Parking is a long way from the hotel and if you want to leave valuables in the car such as golf clubs, this is not very convenient.
