Reviews for Ocean Apartments
Review 1:One of the hollow core interior doors had a large door handle sized hole through it. Would have expected this to be fixed before arrival of new guests.
Review 2:We arrived late but the after hours service was great. Facilities were decent with car park and washing machine and dishwasher. All the comforts of home.
Review 3:Very friendly, helpful staff! We initially got given the wrong room but this wasnt a problem and rectified immediately by willing staff! No trouble at all. Loved the open plan spacious rooms!
Review 4:The view from the window is not too interesting but still good enough
Review 5:We have lovely and clean house for staying and enjoying our holiday. The place is so amazing. If you can't eat outside, you can cook at this place, supermarket is near and you have everything in kitchen even things for baking some cakes. I will choose ocean apartment again for my next holiday
Review 6:Sadly the weather wasn't great while we were there - but other than that no problems
Review 7:2nd visit to go to the Christmas markets. Location great Frequent bus Adsa close by so we could get supplies Secure parking Comfortable apartment with everything we needed for chilled night in & Good breakfast before exploring Staff friendly when checking in & out
Review 8:We would like to live longer, but no room available. Too popular
Review 9:the two bedroom is much bigger than expected, all facility r new and good to use. Never need to worry about the parking area, the -1 floor is car parking area, quite empty, and safe. Very good value with the money I spent, will come back again
Review 10:The settees were a bit hard/uncomfortable to sit on.
Review 11:Flat was clean, spacious, nicely decorated and the kitchen had most things that needed. It was nice that tea and coffee were provided. Also excellent views and a nice walk around the area.
Review 12:There was on occasion an awful smell of cooking drifting in from another apartment and because of the weather, we were unable to open the windows to get rid of it,
Review 13:Very clean and very friendly and helpful check in staff.
Review 14:Verging on shabby. Worn furniture- lounge suite and dining room set need attention. Marks on walls. Scorch marked carpet. Broken acetate cupboard door in bedroom and no shelves at all. Black mould coming through in ensuite. All crockery and cutlery had to be washed before use. Mattresses need replacing- getting backache an unwelcome holiday experience. Staff say everyone compliments them- well then we clearly got the poor deal. I asked for a double bed in one of the rooms. Twins put together with a standard double duvet in a kingside cover does not really function. One of the twins mattress was completely worn and sunk in. Ocean views apartments with no view- next to a busy road is uninspiring.
Review 15:Spacious. Nice towel racks. Good heating. Good referral to great cab service.
Review 16:Whilst the apartment was very clean we did notice a couple of signs of wear and tear. Nothing that would put us off booking again but they probably do need to have a bit of a tidy up of paint work etc.
Review 17:Great location. Easy for bus into Edinburgh. A couple of restaurants and Asda within walking distance. Spacious apartment, friendly staff and great price.
Review 18:We enjoy the flexibility so we can arrange our stay to suit what we want to do. The apartments are superbly located and excellently maintained, are value for money and very spacious.
Review 19:Due to the location of the apartment ( 4 Floor )and the fact that it was very windy there was a lot of noise from roof.
Review 20:Accessible to City Centre.Bus Stop was only 5 minutes from apartment.
Review 21:Location is just a little bit remote from the main action ( 20 mins by bus to the centre ), but as long as this doesn't bother you, the location and buildings are excellent.
Review 22:Apartments were excellent, staff very helpful and professional , generally a great choice. Edinburgh at Christmas is magical .... don't believe me, check it out for yourself !
Review 23:Great apartment very clean great space for the kids.all the essentials like tea coffee and loo roll provided. Access to dvd library was nice touch to help entertain the kids. We had lovely view of royal Brittania. Buses to city only yards from front door.good shopping nearby.
Review 24:Too far out of the city centre, the apartments are located in a remote area, although the reception could book a taxi for us, it took a long time to get there
Review 25:Lovely apartments, clean and modern
Review 26:Everything, apartment was roomy and had everything you needed, although the weather was awful (it was the weekend of Storm Desmond) the view was still excellent with large windows and suprisingly quite with a storm blowing. Its out on a limb but has plenty near by (Went to the C-Shack which was 0.4m away and the food was excellent) and the bus comes every 15 mins into Edinburgh city centre). Overall I will be back, hopefully the weather will be a lot better
Review 27:Could do with a bit of painting of the walls and one of the sofas was very worn
Review 28:Free upgrade from 2 bed to family room. Very spacious. Staff are always brilliant and remembered us from last year. Great location and views of Royal Brittania moored across the dock
Review 29:The sofas were very uncomfortable. As a family with young children we didn't go out at night and found the sofas very uncomfortable to relax on.
Review 30:Great for families plenty of space for young children to move around.
Review 31:We did not have a bad experience it was just that it was further away from the town centre than we thought but a good bus service compensated for that.
Review 32:Staff was excellent and went above and beyond to help. She was very friendly and always has a smile on her face.
Review 33:Some of the furniture was a little tired and needed replacing. The heated towel rails were difficult to get just right. Not too bad really
Review 34:Fantastic views, very handy for the bus into town, secure car park.
Review 35:Quite out of the city and if the weather is bad, you are stuck at the room with nothing much to do. We were stuck due to bad weather and asked for tea bags as it was not possible to go out and purchase but they just refused. Also, we have requested so many times for a sea view room, or one with a balcony but we haven't got one. Not sure if they have any sea view as the apartment is on the other side of the block.
Review 36:Booked a 2 bed for my family and the apartment was quite spacious, well furnished and maintained to a high standard.
Review 37:Free on site parking! While the location isn't perfect it is still very good, with the bus route (15-25 mins to centre) on your doorstep and a 24 hour supermarket in the immediate vicinity. It also has some great views of the harbour, Arthur's Seat and the Castle. Fantastic value for money.
Review 38:The flat decor and fittings/furnishings are tired & need some work to improve them. Bad tiling in the bathroom, carpets badly worn in places, sockets not working. Poor instructions for heating.
Review 39:It was well priced and was sufficient for our needs.
Review 40:The receptionist wanted a copy of the card we paid with, when i told her i didn't have it i got a "It says in the T & C's" I have since looked and it doesn't. One hour after i had checked out i then received a phone call asking for a copy of the company MD's driving licence and credit card details. For fraud & security reasons!!! This is after they took a copy of my Driving License and then a further £100 refundable charge from my Credit Card. For fraud & security reasons, they weren't worried about fraud when they took the payment 2 weeks prior to my stay.
Review 41:The size of rooms and facilities therein were to a good level.
Review 42:The area felt safe, bus-stop was close so that we didnt need to use the car, free car parking was ideal and it was nice to be away from the centre but close enough to travel in and out of.
Review 43:n/a
Review 44:Nice, modern and clean accommodation, all mod cons included. Great location and above all, the price was excellent. Will definately be back and will recommend. 21st century accommodation was needed in Edinburgh. This is it.
Review 45:A bit too far out of the way - we know Edinburgh well but may not be suitable for first time visitors
Review 46:Really great views and very spacious - was difficult to find property initially as sat nav took us to a different location - not ideal if you do not have a car as quite a way out Edinburgh city but apartments are lovely
Review 47:Doors were all self closing so made you feel a bit closed in.
Review 48:Great location near bus stop and supermarket. Had all the essentials for a comfortable stay.
Review 49:Ideal apartments. Good bus service into city centre. Asda nearby for supplies and great shopping centre at Ocean Terminal. Have stayed here several times and never disappointed.
Review 50:Intercom didn't work so when I ordered takeaway I didn't know someone was waiting outside... And there was an incident that some men knocked to my door at 4am... I would recommend this place to everyone who wants to stay in Edinburgh but there is nothing special in the area so you'll have to take a taxi or drive to the city centre. I don't think I'd be back to Scotland because I hated my stay but there might be some people who'd enjoy Scotland.
Review 51:Very clean and nicely furnished property
Review 52:Mode of check in was suitable for us arriving late in the evening. The instructions for getting the key were good. Our only difficulty was to locate our car park and the people in the next bay park too closed . Overall we would recommend this appartment . Great for a family
Review 53:Could do with more kitchen equipment. would not have liked to cook a meal for our group. But would have asked for in advance if I needed more pots pans etc.
Review 54:This was our 3rd year at the Ocean Apartments which says it all. Can't wait to book for next year.
Review 55:Had an accident with the over heated towel rail but the staff were wonderful and the heater has been sorted now for future clients
Review 56:Loved the space and the layout and the 3 bathrooms . Very comfortable to be there as a family . Excellent accommodation
Review 57:Not many utensils in kitchen, no bread or milk that you would normally get with serviced apartments. No dishwasher tablets or detergent for washing machine.
Review 58:Cleanliness
Review 59:Loved the size of the apartment, clean with all of the mod cons for a break away from home. The staff came in daily to replace the used toiletries and empty all of the rubbish. Great views of the city from the windows. Great size bedrooms and comfy furniture. Secure underground parking. Bus stop close to with a direct service into the city. We had a great stay
Review 60:The facilities are great and make for a very nice stay, however the apartment is well outside of the downtown area and it takes 20 minutes or so to commute by bus one way.
Review 61:Could of been cleaner, very few utensils in the kitchen, door to balcony in kids bedroom did not shut very well and there were no keys to lock them. 2 sofas in the lounge need replacing both were ripped and not over comfortable.
Review 62:Spacious apartment, 2 bathrooms which was very useful with 2 kids & 3 adults.
Review 63:Dirty carpets outside our room, near lift and bottoms of the curtains had a dirty watermark on them. Outside the building, bricked paving is breaking up. Was supposed to have a washer/drier as per instructions, only had a washer.
Review 64:Our room was superb and the view was great.
Review 65:We found the apartment hot and stuffy. All the windows in the property are more like doors, they don't have catches to keep them open when it's windy, so it's hard to get fresh air in.
Review 66:Apartment had everything we needed. Great location, getting to Princes St was v easy on the No 10 bus. Just what we needed. Garage for parking was a bonus.
Review 67:Apartment was very comfortable and had all we needed for our 3 night stay. Good parking and we drove everywhere but there is a bus stop right across the road. Supermarket 5 minute drive away.
Review 68:A lot of the facilities ie:- suite, dishes , chairs, furniture etc are tired and in need of an update.
Review 69:It was a great location with fantastic views over the city especially at night. Great having a bus stop near by that took you straight into the city centre.
Review 70:The bathroom hot water was not enough for four gusts to take shower consecutively but staff were very helpful and fixed it.
Review 71:Staff were great and helpful. Organizing for late check-in was perfect. The apartment was very clean. Parking was free of charge and the location was close enough to Edinburg's attractions.
Review 72:Decor a bit worn, buzzer didn't work. Big burn on Worktop.
Review 73:The view was awesome. Could see the castle and the boats. Very spacious room, exceeded expectations. Big beds.
Review 74:washing machine n dryer (2in1) was faulty, dryer didnt work. construction of the building is rough ard the edges ie-- cracked tiles on floor and uneven pavement outfront. location- preferably to hv a car
Review 75:we did late checkin, management left key in the box w clear n prompt instructions. it was spacious! it has 2 bedrooms and 2 bath. i was traveling w my husband and 2yo. so much space for us. it is very clean. the beds are comfortable. rubbish bins were cleaned and beds were made daily.
Review 76:THE LOCATION WAS IN A QUIET AREA OF EDINBURGH BUT WAS HANDY FOR BUS TO CITYCENTRE ABOUT 20 MINUTES AWAY. CLEAN AND WELL FURNISHED APARTMENT WITH GOOD VIEWS TO OCEAN TERMINAL.
Review 77:Apartment was fantastic with great views of the harbour,Rooms were big like a home away from home. Car parking facilities were handy. Bus into Edinburgh always across the road. Walking distance to great restaurants and handy to supermarkets.
Review 78:The hours of the office. Opening earlier, and staying open later would have been better.
Review 79:Loved the apt. Bus close nearby. Clean, comfortable, modern.
Review 80:Nothing
Review 81:The staff were very helpful. The off street parking was very good.the apartment was very nice and clean.will stay the next time I visit Edinburgh
Review 82:Apartment maybe a bit sparse and starting to look tired for some.
Review 83:The location very good. Bus to city about 150 metres away. Ability to cook after so many weeks eating in restaurants. Good supermarket & fish monger within walking distance. Also some good restaurants if you didn't want to cook. Car parking good as we had a car.
Review 84:Nothing only underground car park a bit scary.
Review 85:Had great views of Royal Yacht Britannia out of windows and enjoyed location with freedom to please yourself.
Review 86:Not actually a bad experience but there were no cereal bowls for breakfast time. A hook in the shower room for my robe would have been good
Review 87:The spaciousness of the apartment and the view. The cleanliness was excellent and the view.
Review 88:Only basic kitchen utensils. Not enough towel rails in bathrooms.
Review 89:Comfortable apartment on one level. 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. Washing machine / dryer was a bonus.
Review 90:Japanese people on the floor above seemed to be using the apartment as a Gym on Friday night. They could be heard running back and forth - and could be seen doing this from outside when we were leaving to go out for the evening.
Review 91:Very clean and spacious. Easy access/commuting. Local facilities were very good. Late arrival and early leaving arrangements were excellent.
Review 92:Poor phone network coverage, which obviously is not their fault, but is troublesome.
Review 93:A nice and comfortable flat with a parking place included in the price. Fully equipped kitchen. You almost feel at home.
Review 94:The stuff called me after I had already checked out. To remind me to checkout.
Review 95:The facility is great. The location is nice, close to the sea and have direct bus to city center.
Review 96:Bed and pillows - could have been more comfortable. Some mold in the toilet. otherwise the rest of the apartment was clean.
Review 97:Very good parking facility. Good late check-in procedure. Love the location. The apartment was perfect for my family(young couple with 15-month old baby). The view from the apartment - facing the town was great - morning sunshine kept the apartment nice and warm. Kitchen - complete. I was able to cook for my daughter.
Review 98:It is like a home away from home with bedrooms, lounge, kitchen and laundry room with washing and drying facilities. A bus leaves for Edinburgh every 15 minutes and you are withing walking distance of a lovely walk by the water.
Review 99:There was no coffee press but excellent reception staff "found" one for us! Booking.com more expensive than "special offer" on Ocean Apartments website.
Review 100:A modern light and airy 5th floor apartment with great views. Flexible accommodation with bonuses of washer/drier and underground parking etc.
Review 101:let down by untidiness of the unit, just requires a bt of TLC, rips in sofa, marks on the walls, etc
Review 102:a nice basic apartment, cheap and cheerful, clean bedrooms and bathrooms
Review 103:Clean, comfortable, everything we needed. Bus across the road taking you directly to the city centre. Friendly helpful staff. Asda just around the corner.
Review 104:The cooker hood is too low and it is easy to bang one's head on it. One day someone is going to have a really nasty bang. A teapot and tea strainer would be welcome for those who like their tea made in the proper manner! The bread saw was hard work cutting bread! But overall everything really fine.
Review 105:Really nice lounge/kitchen area
Review 106:complicated bureaucracy. Not easy to find in dark. Far from city
Review 107:Location by docks is remote from city but local bus starts outside . easy parking. Great views
Review 108:Not being able to get into a restaurant on the Saturday night...my own fault!
Review 109:The apartment was lovely, fabulous views across the water, friendly and very helpful staff and Leith is a gem of a place to visit, great restaurants, beautiful river/shore to walk along, and there really was 'sunshine on Leith' throughout our stay!
Review 110:The free wifi was great but perhaps not fast enough for our three children who were keen to connect with their friends to show them what a wonderful time they were having in such a beautiful and friendly city
Review 111:The view from our appartment was amazing, the staff so friendly and helpful and the appartment so very spacious. I shall recommend these appartments to all my friends and family.
Review 112:We booked via booking.com and got a fantastic cheap deal. £110 a night for 5 of us, really good value for what we got. We were happy with the utensils that were given; enough for us, but the best thing was how clean the place was, I will definitely stay again provided the price is low. A good self catering 4 star experience.
Review 113:Unfortunately, some minor lack of attention to maintenance let down our enjoyment a little bit. Some bulbs in the bedroom table lamps didn't work, but the biggest issue was the bathroom door didn't shut properly! Bit awkward, but one call to reception got it fixed on the next working day (reported on Friday night, fixed on Monday).
Review 114:Great location if you don't like the bustle of the centre all the time, close to the Royal Yacht and shopping mall next to it, with a regular bus service straight into town (every 15mins or so, and Asda with cheap petrol station nearby, not to mention the Loch Fyne restaurant and other eateries nearby and in the mall. Lovely modern spacious apartment with two bathrooms, essential for a family with two teenagers! Plenty of on-street parking and free option of underground parking.
Review 115:Huge expanses of glass cause apartment to get very hot in sunshine. No means of ventilation other than by opening huge doors. Needs a chair in bedroom, some drawers or more shelves for clothes, a suitcase stand, hooks on bedroom and bathroom doors for dressing gowns.
Review 116:Very bright clean modern apartment. Well furnished. Lovely beds. Convenient bus service into town,
Review 117:Door slaming through the night. We like fresh air when we sleep so the dòor was the only way. I didn't like my credit card being charged for security usually a imprint is taken only.i think i should have been given a refund when i made the error in booking the incorrect date especially at my age when things sometime happen by mistake.
Review 118:Able to wash the unit was self contained with evrrything you wanted The reception was very hard to find.
Review 119:It was a bit of a travel on the bus when we came off the train, if we had used the car it would have been much better
Review 120:The Apartment was beautiful and had everything we needed for our stay
Review 121:Loved the view over the port and the city of Edinburgh. We could see the Royal Yacht Britannia from our apartment. Regular bus services to the city made it practical to move around.
Review 122:Late check in could have been better. On 6th floor there was a continual noise possibly caused by the wind
Review 123:Cleanliness excellent. Facilities and Location very good.
Review 124:We were expecting to be outside the main city but still quite a long walk from the port of Leith although close to the No 10 bus stop for access to centre of town. Asda a short walk away.
Review 125:quiet location, comfortable beds, spacious accommodation
Review 126:Very stuffy on arrival and unable to keep flat ventilated because windows (all doors) could only be fully open or shut!. Not really enough crockery and cutlery to make dish washer viable. Smoke from adjacent appartments when windows wedged open.
Review 127:Lovely views over the Forth estuary and Leith docks. Roomy flat with plenty of facilities. Handy underground parking for convertible car.
Review 128:Cost Noisy roof, couldn't sleep first night as very noisy from wind in rafters noise, second night was better as we closed the window!!
Review 129:Very spacious Free parking Comfortable Great views of Edinburgh, Royal yacht Britannia and the castle Light and airy Fab shower
Review 130:The apartment was spacious, met all our needs and had underground parking. Excellent location with great views and a supermarket and restaurants within walking distance.
Review 131:The living area had very large windows and a balcony with wonderful views. The apartments are on a very regular and cheap bus route into the centre of Edinburgh. .
