Reviews for Les Sables d'Ocre

Review 1:The hotel room is very comfort. The hotel staffs are friendly. Although it is not locate in the heart of village, it is still convenient to drive to the village.

Review 2:Lovely dinner was a nice surprise, especially on a rainy night when the walk to town would not be fun. Staff was very helpful and just friendly enough. The grounds are peaceful.

Review 3:Coffee from machine and Breakfast is overpriced. Don't go for dinner there - they bring food from outside and just heat it. There are plenty of great places in town.

Review 4:Nothing special about this place. Small hotel with a pool and patio. Good location and close enough to walk to dinner.

Review 5:The staff were very accommodating. The room was very comfortable, private patios near the pool are terrific for relaxing. The restaurant food was very good.

Review 6:Was such a shame we couldn't get a sandwich for lunch. In the end, we walked up to Rousillon (an easy, pleasant walk), bought a baguette and took it back to Sables d'Ocre to eat by the pool.

Review 7:Absolutely everything! Could not fault this hotel. Atmosphere was relaxing, surroundings were beautiful, food was good (pity they don't offer lunch), and evening dinner was superb. Loved the coloured 'moons' - surreal and delightful. Definitely planning a return stay next year.

Review 8:lovely ambiance, helpful staff, gated off street parking, lovely grounds, 10 minute walk to Rousillon, good breakfast, easy check-in/check-out, easy to reach from A8

Review 9:No, It is a wonderful stay

Review 10:It is a very nice place, total integrates with the surrounding environment, the kids love the loft . the room is comfortable and cozy. It is a wonderful stay for our family, and It is near to Russillion, you will have ten minutes to the down-town by walking.

Review 11:This charming hotel close to the beautiful hill town of Roussillon and the ochre cliffs. Staff friendly and helpful. Chef was superb, we were able to decompress and enjoy the Luberon from this convenient location.

Review 12:No fridge in the room. Quiet location to early in the evening. No facilities after 9.30 PM. We arrived at about 10 PM from litlle vilage and no access to the main entry, unpleasant set with night entry delimited with bars.

Review 13:Quiet clean location, nice garden. Nice (too) little balcony for breakfast or enjoyng a warm beer you have brought yourself, as no services available at the night. Nice lightening around the pool but the pool itself was shutlled at night.

Review 14:Dinner was a bit expensive.

Review 15:We came here to find the lavender fields and found this to be a great relaxing home base. The room was nice and comfortable and we really enjoyed the on site dinner although it seemed a bit expensive, we found the server to be fantastic and it made it worth coming back.

Review 16:Our room while spacious and rustic was quite jaded and in need of refurbishment. The breakfast choice and display is limited, a mean round really for 12 euro.

Review 17:The Hotel has a lovely modern pool and breakfast terrace. The terrace outside our room was also spacious, well furnished and very private. The restaurant provides a very high standard evening meal. The staff all speak English and are very helpful.

Review 18:This is a nice, clean and comfortable hotel. It is a short walk to town. Good value.

Review 19:Nothing

Review 20:Everything was great. Location , staff , restaurant, service , ambiance. Will return again soon

Review 33:The hotel is like a little oasis for the travel weary.

Review 34:Located a short walk from the beautiful town of Rouisillon. There was secure parking on-site at no extra charge.

Review 35:Low Signal Wifi.

Review 36:Their staff was very nice with us. It is one of beautiful hotel if you paid on this price.

Review 37:Towels

Review 38:Balcony view

Review 39:Friendly helpful staff. Able to speak some English. Excellent evening meal. Much nicer than restaurants in village.

Review 40:The dinner Was excellent.

Review 41:Staff went out of their way to make us comfortable.

Review 42:Exellent location - less than 10 minutes walking to the town. Very helpful and pleasant staff.

Review 43:a great place to visit the wonderful city of Roussillon, a swimming pool, a cozy space nearby, parking, everything you need to relax.

Review 44:Local village Rousillion in National park was a lovely place to visit and the hotels designed suited the location excellently .

Review 45:Lack of restaurant recommendations given and cost of breakfast

Review 46:A chill place to relax

Review 47:Staff was not nice, room was way too small, and it was expensive.

Review 48:Not so impressive comparing other places I stayed in Provence.

Review 49:Only had one night to enjoy it

Review 50:Quiet rural location, warm welcome, pool and outside areas, service

Review 51:Size of bath towels.

Review 52:Location, Room spacious, Pool and garden, Food.

Review 53:Friendly helpful staff Beautiful location Great food Lovely pool

Review 54:We loved the restaurant- so much that we ate there 3 nights in a row.

Review 55:Nothing.

Review 56:Good location to see the ochre cliffs.

Review 57:Wi-Fi got very slow after dinner - a full hotel using the service will make it useless.

Review 58:Very relaxing hotel just within walking distance of town.

Review 59:The location, close to the beautiful town of Roussillon. The welcome by and the friendliness of staff. The peaceful ambience of the hotel. Breakfast....very good. We will return!

Review 60:Poor quality towels, a little rough and that tumble dryer burnt kind of smell (if you know what I mean!!!) Not enough sun loungers around the pool - many people returning around 4pm and only the grass to sit on!! Lack of bar facilities in the evening, everywhere is locked up by 10.30pm - it would have been nice to come back from the village and have a night- cap/coffee on the terrace (we are not night owls by any stretch of the imagination!!)

Review 61:We stayed for five nights and thoroughly enjoyed this hotel. Our room was spacious and clean and the bed was large and very comfortable. The breakfast was plentiful, though we were surprised that there was no fresh tea or coffee, just a machine, the same for the fruit juice - surprising for an hotel of this price range. we ate in at the hotel one night - comparable price to the village restaurants but the service was pretty average, but the food was good There is a lovely garden area and a very nice pool, but not enough sun loungers. All the staff were very friendly and everything was run very efficiently and it is only a ten minute stroll to the village.

Review 62:Great location, just outside Roussillon, 10 minute walk to town center. Light, bright, clean, quiet. The grounds are especially beautiful, both in the daytime and at night. Great place to relax.

Review 63:We really enjoyed our stay and shall remember it always. Thanks! Geoff and Colleen from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Review 64:Very relaxing! Great pool and beautiful gardens and lawns to look at and sit and relax in/on. Drinks were also served poolside. Great outdoor dining and breakfast area. The chef cooks an excellent dinner at night with an interesting, well-thought out menu. The ingredients work well together and local produce is used when possible. Care is taken with presentation and plating. We loved the high quality and freshness of the food. All members of staff were friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed using the two private sun-lounges and the small table and large table outside our room. Loved the beautiful "balls" in the trees and on the ground and also enjoyed the special mowers.Postcards/mail can be left at Reception to be posted. This is useful. Location is within walking distance to the village of Roussillon magnificently located on ochre cliffs. A must see! Les Sables d'Ocre is well located as it is possible to have easy access by car to other must-see villages such as Gordes which is situated on beautiful white cliffs.

Review 65:Building feels a little motel like

Review 66:Very helpful staff. Had two excellent dinners. Room was clean and comfortable. Within strolling distance of Rousillon Nice garden and pool. (Wasn't yet warm enough for us to use it though.)

Review 67:The lack of coffee or tea making facilities in the room.

Review 68:The location is within easy walking distance of the town of Roussillon with ample parking. There is a beautifull garden with a sparkling swimming pool for the warmer days. The rooms are comfortable but on the small side. A good breakfast is available. There is the friendly athmosphere of a family run business,

Review 69:Buffet breakfast had good choice but for a three star hotel to have a coffee machine and not fresh coffee was unacceptable. The coffee was almost undrinkable.

Review 70:Staff very helpful

Review 71:Shower has no curtain, as in the most French hotels we stayed in. Floor therefore easily gets wet. No further complaints at all.

Review 72:Very friendly staff. Comfortable beds and spacious rooms. Garden and pool very well kept and taken care of, very beautiful and large. Location in the middle of Provence, perfect gateway to beautiful villages. Enough parking spaces.

Review 73:The accommodation was lovely, in a park like setting, surrounded by trees, with a swimming pool. The staff were friendly, and helpful. We ate at the hotel in the evening, and the food was very good. The village of Roussillon was within easy walking distance.

Review 74:Nothing I would have no hesitation to go again.

Review 75:The food was superb and unbelievably good value for money, it was a real gourmet experience. The hotel was in a very quiet area but within walking distance of Roussillon, our favourite village in the Luberon area. The ground floor rooms have a very nice private seating area surrounded by a hedge. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Review 76:Nothing:-)

Review 77:Very nice hotel with extremely friendly staff (English speaking). Rooms are recently renovated and spacy and have its own sharm. Free parking is a benefit and thanks to the staff we were proposed to keep the car 3 hours more after check out, in order to investigate the city. The hotel is 10 minuts walk from the Park des Ocres, which is worth seeing.

Review 78:Excellent accommodations, attentive and helpful staff, especially Valarie, quiet area, a short walk to the bustling village, a central spot to tour the area.

Review 79:Everything! Incredibly friendly staff. Valerie on reception and every staff member were genuinely happy and helpful. Very clean, characterful, relaxing property. Great location - just a 5 minute walk from the stunning hilltop town of Roussillon. The hotel has payed attention to detail in everything from the design, the food, to the stunning gardens and pool area. The perfect hotel to relax in and very well located.

Review 80:We did'nt like the policy of not being able to eat or drink in the rooms! if your on holiday, you should be able to enjoy a cup of coffee in bed if you choose. Also I think the rooms should be equipped with a mini frig

Review 81:We loved the pool and the resturaunt! And the staff was very friendly!

Review 82:Unfortunately, we had to wait our simple drinks (in pool) for more than a half hour.

Review 83:We would highly recommend this hotel. Valerie (Receptionist) was very friendly.

Review 84:The location is perfect , we left our car at the hotel parking and took 10 min walking to the Roussilion - very nice place with perfect view to surroundings, good restaurants and painting galleries. The hotel has a very romantic decoration of the garden, nice swimming pool.

Review 85:All the staff were very friendly and helpful from arrival to departure. Food very good. very relaxed atmosphere. pool and pool area very clean and tidy, poolside attendant bringing towels and drinks to the pool side was a real treat. will be going again.

Review 86:WiFi didn't work for us to begin with (on any of multiple devices). Staff were very friendly and helpful but couldn't solve problem. Around 6 hrs after arrival, it suddenly started working.

Review 87:Excellent hotel, very friendly staff, good location within walking distance of Rousillon village. Highly recommended

Review 88:The staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble. They were very helpful in suggesting places of interest. Valerie was particularly helpful assisting with a little problem we had. Location was excellent allowing us to visit many of the local villages.

Review 89:Rooms are small and quite dark, and basically have the feel of a motelroom in th us. We did not have the breakfast buffet, but the coffee wasundrinkable- possibly the worst coffee I had in France for many years.

Review 90:Close to Roussillon (a very short walk), nice landscaping, nice pool, good service with extra pool towels, clean rooms, safe parking lot, nice private little patio with rooms on the ground floor, attentive andkind staff.

Review 91:Coffee from a machine rather than a cafetiere - not good or strong enough.

Review 92:Excellent location, near Roussillon and central to the Provencal area. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Food was excellent.

Review 93:We loved our room and only wish we could transport it with us on our travels so we could stay here every night. The room was extremely comfortable and furnished tastefully and with comfort in mind. We had a lovely little terrace area over looking the gardens. The shower was refreshing. The whole experience was worth the cost. The staff were friendly and very helpful. It was a short walk into the town.

Review 94:It was easy to locate on the main road just outside Roussilon by just a few minutes. Easy parking, English speaking staff and excellent restaurant that was reasonably priced.

Review 95:Why the owner don`t open more hotels like this one in all France cities? And after that advise me quickly to booking as fast as possible...

Review 96:The hotel is charming, clean, silent bedroom, well located and a friendly multi-lingual reception. I recommend this excelent hotel and I would like to be back again, to stay some more enjoyable days.

Review 97:The Hotel was owned by a very nice couple. They were very helpful inmaking reservations at restaurants. They helped with maps. Verycheerful. Beautiful location and landscape surroundings.

Review 98:Accommodating staff who helped with our daily trip plans and good knowledge of surrounding area.Wonderful breakfast, with large assortment of choices. Lovely serene grounds. Clean, comfortable rooms and reception area. Good internet reception! Jean-Pierre and Valerie have good grasp of English which was a big help to us.

Review 99:incredibly hard bed - the carpeted floor was softer, not-so-great breakfast, especially for 11 euros

Review 100:Nice location on the edge of Rousillon, friendly staff, clean & comfortable rooms, good value

Review 101:If staying for more than a few days the menu is restricted, but for a short stay it is acceptable.

Review 102:Situated close to the centre of Roussillon within walking disance of a very picturesque village. A comfortable hotel with very helpful reception and staff.

Review 103:All the staff were very helpful and friendly, particularly the lady on reception who was lovely and helped us book our bikes and gave us tips on the best routes. The room was clean and comfortable and suited to the very reasonable price. The hotel was in a great location, very peaceful and relaxing and a nice 10min walk right into the centre of Roussillion.

Review 104:There was not a non-slip surface in the bath for the above bath shower. The wine list has some good local wines, but many might find it a littlerestricted. The bar is equally restricted. Don't let that put you off!

Review 105:The whole ambience of the hotel was right. The staff extremely helpful, friendly and trained in their roles. The rooms were of good size, our'shad a terrace, ideal for summer stays. The food was good and varied.Yes, the menu is limited to 4 or 5 items, but each day there are dailyspecials, and most of the time we chose from those. The grounds aredelightful, particularly after dark when the hotel's lighting effectstake centre stage. In an extensive tour of France, this was one of thevery best hotel we found and we would very happily stay there again.

Review 106:Reading lights need to be individual so that one does not light up the room and disturb your partner.

Review 107:It's location in the village of Roussillon made it easy to walk to restaurants and bars. The Hotel restaurant meal on Sunday evening was excellent with a very interesting and attentive waitress and maitre d'. Breakfast was comprehensive and good value for money. The room was very comfortable and having a terrace verandah with table and chairs was ideal for having a per dinner drink. A minor maintenance item in the bathroom was brought to management's attention and promptly fixed whilst we were out for the day. The manager's suggestions for the best route and towns to visit in the 1day available to us was excellent. We visited Domaine de Tara nearby for a wine tasting and were warmly received by the proprietor and found some very enjoyable wines at a good price.

Review 108:The place makes you feel at home. Clean and friendly. The staff was amiable and friendly, helpful. The whole setting was lovable. A small, quiet, welcoming place. Breakfast in the well kept and beautiful garden was bliss. This little hotel is located at a 10' walk from beautiful Roussillon, which means that not only is a nice place to stay at, it is also well located, near the ochre park.

Review 109:The hotel was clean, comfortable and had lovely gardens with a pool and big balls that lit up and changed colour which were actually very tasteful!! The meal that we had was very good and the staff were helpful and friendly. It is near enough to walk into the village and there is good parking.

Review 110:Although staff were happy to bring us drinks on the terrace or the lounge, i would have prefered a proper bar area

Review 111:Great staff good value for money. Near a town and had a swimming pool

Review 112:Fantastic hotel in stunning location, The room was fantastic. The facilaties excelent. The staff fantastic. They are now a 3 star hotel and the stars are well earned

Review 113:Nothing - it was all good.

Review 114:Everything was totally relaxing. The grounds and pool were so peaceful and quiet. The rooms were very quiet, you could not hear anyone when you were in your room. The air conditioning was essential because it was very hot when we were there. Breakfast was good with lots of choice. The staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke English very well. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.
