Reviews for The Convent
Review 1:Amazing building and grounds. We stayed in the master suite which was so luxurious. Matt the owner was lovely and friendly. The food in the restaurant was top notch and had the most amazing wine list. Will definitely be coming back
Review 2:Liked everything.
Review 3:A hotel that has lovely big rooms, great food, helpful staff, it's own recording studio, hosts live gigs that are broadcast live on the Internet four nights a week from an amazing building. Nothing else like it. We'll be back.
Review 4:Baths in carpark a bit disturbing on arrival but obviously work being done front door a bit obscure too!
Review 5:Quirky different and interesting history. Lovely chapel, fun evening food good and very relaxed atmosphere all round. Wonderful ambience. Like visiting friends. Lovely bathroom and bedroom, just standard room but lovely.
Review 6:no tea and coffee in the rooms. Still considerable refurbishment required. Breakfast very ordinary
Review 7:Staff very friendly and helpful and really nice with our Dog
Review 8:The only downside was, we were put into a very basic room, only facilities was a bed and a shower. We did get a 50% discount for this so OK for one night. Will stay again if we get a proper room.
Review 9:The property was interesting and the staff were brillient. The food was good and nice to have breakfast freshly cooked. The music venue was great.
Review 10:A bit of wardrobe space would have been good but the mantelpiece was fine as a substitute!
Review 11:Quirky decoration and atmosphere. Friendly and personal service - a great place to relax. Real coffee in the bedroom!
Review 12:Just a couple of things in the room weren't great - tv didn't work, coffee machine a bit hit and miss. No where to hang your clothes. Clearly the bathroom wasn't quite finished - radiator not yet mounted and some touching up required around fittings.
Review 13:Loved this place. So very relaxing. The gig on Saturday night in the Chapel was amazing. Great value for money and an amazing venue. Great food and service. Great ambience. Would definitely go back if the area again.
Review 14:I would have liked somewhere to hang my clothes .
Review 15:The convent sits in a beautiful valley with well kept gardens. The bed was so comfortable I wanted to take it home with me! The staff were very helpful and friendly, they could not do enough for us.
Review 16:It is a work in progress. For example in our room there was nowhere to hang anything. At present, parking may be an issue -- we were worried we'd have to park down the hill if we came back to the hotel during a gig. (We didn't have any problem actually, but we were concerned we might.)
Review 17:Staff were exceptionally welcoming and lovely people. Attractive site. An interesting and off beat experience -- we appreciated that it was not your average hotel room. Very fast free wifi. Our room was spacious and our stay was a good value.
Review 18:No radiators in the bathroom, just pipe ends. Nothing to hang clothes on in the bedroom. Bizarre TV facilities which meant the rugby could not be watched on the set in the bedroom. Poor way of billing which meant I am convinced I paid for more than I drank.
Review 19:Funky music and music formula
Review 20:Lovely staff, wonderful atmosphere, great food, two funny cats, interesting artists Thursday and Friday night.... All in all: relaxing and happy 3 days ( definitely too short)
Review 21:Our only negatives were - the room although had a beautiful roll top bath it would have been better if it had over head shower rather than hand held and we had no where in our room to hang clothes only drawers
Review 22:The history and quirky nature of the hotel. The staff were brilliant and the place had a great atmosphere
Review 23:Beautiful building in a fantastic setting. Will be going again for a longer stay. Every room told a story, tasteful contemporary design merged with the history of the building
Review 24:Car park however I'm sure a more confident driver would nor have a problem.
Review 25:From beginning to end of stay absolutely wonderful. The owners are visible and truly committed to the hotel and music. The staff are first class.
Review 26:Woo an outstanding hotel, staff was exteamly warm and friendly and made our stay very memorable adding those little extra touches that made you feel special. It was my partners birthday and my treat for him and he loved it especaily when we returned after a night gig at the hotel to see they had changed the painting on the wall to an Alan Rogers painting with musical instruments on a landscape seascape scence and a set of bagpipes sailing past, this made him smile alot with him being Scottish. Thank you :)
Review 27:Dinber was ok but breakfast left a lot to be desired. Eggs overkooked sausages undercooked and only 1 mushroom very small for the price
Review 28:Grounds staff and room was great. No radiator in the bathroom or wardrobes for clothes? But overall was nice
Review 29:it's advertised as a Hotel and Spa, but there is no Spa.... Rooms are unfinished, no wardrobes to hang clothes, no facilities to iron clothes, and two pipes sticking out of the wall for a heated towel rail, but no towel rail yet! It will be lovely when finished
Review 30:The staff were great, and the bathroom was finished to a nice standard.
Review 31:While it way obvious that most guests were charmed by the owners' dog and cat wandering around the grounds, I was a little put off by the fact that they were allowed in the dining area.
Review 32:Superb level of decor and comfort in the rooms. Quirky and charming spot for a getaway.
Review 33:Breakfast is not served until 8am which is a little late if you need an early getaway
Review 34:Fascinating building, well appointed rooms, helpful and friendly staff
Review 35:It was great. Very different so that was part of the attraction. It was great to have free wifi that was fast, staff were attentive. Would stay there again.
Review 36:We found it hard to find reception from the car park!
Review 37:Friendly staff, beautiful building, comfortable room, beautiful grounds yet excellent value for money.
Review 38:A beautiful, quirky place - absolutely huge, with stunning gardens. The restaurant food was absolutely delicious, as was breakfast the next morning - I just wish I could have stayed longer.
Review 39:The weather was hot so could have done with a light sheet instead of the good duvet.
Review 40:The atmosphere was different, interesting and a great new experience. All staff were charming and took time to chat and make us feel welcome. We are looking forward to our return visit.
Review 41:It's a work in progress, ongoing development. Accessibility is on the agenda, but if you have mobility issues, you will find your visit challenging. The stsirs are not steep, but plentiful. You could hear the background noise of the busy A road nearby.
Review 42:Friendly staff, helpful, carried out bags and made us very welcome. The food was delicious. The most comfortable bed & pillows, deep pile carpet and comfy lounge. It has sparkle. I liked the cats and dog too.
Review 43:Everything was beyond perfect, from the friendly welcome on our arrival, the lovely supper, our immaculate room, the delightful evening around the fire pit with dessert and Grappa, to the fine breakfast next morning! We were really sorry to leave and hope to return again soon.
Review 44:There is nothing bad to say about this hotel! OK maybe a very small thing is that there was no wardrobe in our room so nowhere to hand clothes but there was plenty of draw space.
Review 45:This hotel is a joy, the hotel itself is stunning with beautiful gardens. It's gothic and quirky and has the chapel where they hold gigs which is a lovely touch for a weekend. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be going back. I just hope as the hotel grows (there is still some work to be done) they don't increase the prices as it's just right for a standard room B&B at £120.
Review 46:Incredibly comfortable bed, lovely staff and owners - all very approachable. Relaxed atmosphere, delicious food and locally sourced produce. Interesting décor ..blending the austere convent architecture with contemporary interior design. Fabulous location and truly memorable stay.
Review 47:The Convent is a great place to stay. Everything was excellent from the moment we arrived. Thank you.
Review 48:The whole experience was excellent, amazing venue, lovely staff - could not fault anything
Review 49:Finishing details weren't quite there
Review 50:Uniqueness, fantastic music venue
Review 51:The ambience was great
Review 52:Quirky but excellent rooms and great atmosphere with attentive staff particularly owner. Breakfasts were excellent and Dinner was also good.
Review 53:Strangely there was nowhere to hang clothes in our room - but this is a minor quibble.
Review 54:Excellent service, superb concept and great location.
Review 55:Difficulty locating the hotel in the dark: poor signage
Review 56:Interesting building & surrounds: friendliness of staff
Review 57:Having to leave.
Review 58:Very individual and quirky take on luxury hotel accommodation -- refreshingly different! Extremely pleasant staff. Excellent food.
Review 59:Amazing place - converted convent with interesting rooms, nice garden and live music gigs
Review 60:I needed somewhere to hang my clothes.
Review 61:This hotel. ..is very different. Very refreshing to spend time somewhere that takes you away from reality
Review 62:Very cold, no knob or lock on bathroom floor.
Review 63:Helpful staff, a unique experience, good food, high quality room.
Review 64:bedrooms are not quiet as you hear doors banging from corridor
Review 65:original place
Review 66:Could do with having just normal freeview television.
Review 67:The gardens were beautiful. Very cool atmosphere at this place.
Review 68:The location is amazing. The staff super friendly. Perfect place in the Cotswolds.
Review 69:The staff were incredibly helpful when we lost our car
