Reviews for St. Winifreds Hotel

Review 1:Whilst this property needs a little revamp, it's beautiful. Art Deco stained glass windows, wood panelled stair case, big bay windows, but there are big patches of damp and its crying out for some sympathetic modernisation whilst still maintaining its '30's character.

Review 2:Although fairly clean, the hotel is quite antiquated. Ie probablyhasn't been renovated wirhin the last 40-50 years. The light abovethe bed didn't work, had to flush the toilet 3 times before allwaste disappeared, no mat for the inside of the bath so showering waslike walking on a skating rink, was there 2 days and room not servicedand only a minute bar of soap provided. Television took an age to getworking. Don't think it is suitable for small children as the liftis quite old and there is no inner door on the lift meaning thatchildren could easily trap and possibly lose fingers as the lift ismoving between floors.

Review 3:Location and clean

Review 4:Entrance hallway could be improved by being lighter and brighter. Staircase carpet could do with renewing. Some attention to decoration and paintwork needed.

Review 5:Excellent views over Morecambe Bay. Good period property with lovely glazed windows. Handsome panelled dining room and very spacious lounge. Good quality curtains. Most carpets in good condition.

Review 6:Everything was so so shabby the whole place needs updating from the ground up . Please do not send anyone there till all the work is done. Worst hotel we have ever stayed in.

Review 7:Hotelier very pleasant but not very helpful, couldn't provide is with any facilities to help dry our wet clothes after a soaking bike ride on the way to the hotel. T.V. didn't work properly in the room.

Review 8:Reasonable location, not far from town, nice sea view from room

Review 9:The room was clean but very cramped. The decor was not to good and there was a lot of splits in the carpets in the corridors. An old mattress was propped up a few doors away from or room

Review 10:The staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast. A small car park round the back of the hotel.

Review 11:The room wasn't overly clean, especially the carpet and there was a lot of hair in the bathroom. The hotel advises on booking.com there is free wifi, this is completely untrue, there is no wifi at all. It is a longer walk to town than advertised also. The hotel is too expensive for the quality.

Review 12:The breakfast was great.

Review 13:The experience of staying in this hotel was bad from start to finish. There was nothing good. Well, except, the bed sheets and towels, they were very clean but the carpets were not only worn but dirty, I don't think windowsills and paintwork has ever been washed......booking .com has gone down in my estimation for even having this building on their web site.....

Review 14:Absolutely nothing. From the drab and filthy exterior to the filthy drab interior.......there was nothing to like about this. There was also a smell which could have been curry or body odour, I think the latter would be nearer the truth.

Review 15:The staff. What time you had to be in by. The discrimination

Review 16:Staff were awful and you had to be in before 11pm. They also wanted me to pay by cash no card because I'm only 19. Hate it. Would not recommend it go anyone

Review 17:TV a bit small and had very poor reception, so difficult to get a decent picture. No bar that we could see - had to get drinks from nearby Hotels.

Review 18:Location and character of Hotel. Room was clean and nicely decorated. Nice breakfast too. Friendly staff.

Review 19:The bathroom lights, and bedside lights, in rooms 14 and 15 did not work. One of these rooms could not be locked on the inside. Staff alerted immediately but none of these problems could be fixed.

Review 20:The windows, wood panelling and view were nice

Review 21:The whole place was well worn, new curtains and bedspreads and a lick of paint would make all the difference. Breakfast quality was good but quantity varied, got less as the number of guests increased.

Review 22:The welcome was friendly The bed linen and towels were amazingly white.

Review 23:Only complaint (apart from the weather!) was the visitors directly above us who began shifting furniture (that's what it sounded like) for over an hour just as we were going to sleep; same again at 06:30! A sleepless weekend.

Review 24:Well positioned on the front and away from the centre of town. Friendly, helpful landlord and good breakfast. Clean and well appointed, albeit with faded charm.

Review 25:My wife is a vegetarian and there wasn't a vege breakfast alternative, just meaty things left off the full English.

Review 26:The sea view was excellent, and the owners and staff were very friendly. The breakfasts were good.

Review 27:The decorations were very dated and I felt it was in need of a make over

Review 28:The hospitality and food were brilliant. If you asked for anything it was done without any questions or hassle.

Review 29:The hotel is owned by a very friendly and helpful family. It is an old-style Morecambe hotel and they have preserved the period look and feel, whilst updating the rooms to a more modern standard of comfort. The staff were very helpful with directions and upgrading the booking to a double rather than a twin room. The bed was comfortable, the choice of breakfast was excellent, and the service was great.

Review 30:No working light in the bathroom!! Bedside lights - neither worked Didn't get a receipt on night I arrived was told I could get it in the morning, however no one around at 7:30 in the morning! Was not worth £65 and there is no way on this earth it was ever worth £99

Review 31:Late check-in

Review 32:No dislikes

Review 33:It was opposite the bay and looked across to the lakes,an ideal place to stop after a long trip up from South Wales,it was in walking distance into the town and parking was easy.

Review 34:Parking at back of hotel not secure. Uneven road could have damaged car. Noise from guest above coming in early hours . But not hotel fault.

Review 35:Staff pleasant. Room clean and tidy. Lovely sea view from room. Good breakfast menu.

Review 36:Property was very dated, seriously needs some money spending on it. Kettle in my room didn't work and the room of my other party members TV didn't work and there was no kettle. Had to apologise to my party for the poor choice of hotel.

Review 37:Sea front location

Review 38:Didn't like is too strong a term but the place is a tad run-down and dated but superb value for money as a consequence. OK, it's not in the town centre but that makes parking easier and keeps the price down. Nearest eatery (a Chinese is 10 mins away (that would seem miles if hacking down with rain or if people have disabilities))

Review 39:Easy to arrive at from the M-Way. Good adjacent on-road parking. Excellent breakfast. Polite management with well-trained restaurant staff.

Review 40:Everythig we experienced was fine

Review 41:Fair enough it is very dated and could do with a lick of paint and tlc but the staff were very accommodating and friendly the rokm was very clean and the bed very comfortable clean towels and bags of hot water couldn't fault the staff again at breakfast which was also very nice this hotel is not 4/5 star but if your looking for a clean budget hotel then give them a try.

Review 42:Rooms very small and dated, but the bathroom was clean. We could hear the conversations word for word of the people next door and above us. The TV didn't work (not an issue for us tho for any length of time). No restaurant available. Breakfast order wasn't right, even though we re-stated the order 3 times. Glad we only stayed 1 night.

Review 43:Staff were pleasant. Rooms were clean.

Review 44:Shabby (threadbare carpet). Scruffy (dated decor, peeling paint). Tiny bedroom. Thin walls (I'm sure I could hear the guests in the next room breathing). Cold water tap was seized solid so shower was too hot.

Review 45:Cheerful helpful staff. Clean comfortable bed.

Review 46:The room was very small and old fashioned, and the avocado bathroom suite was truly hideous!! No free wifi

Review 47:Breakfast was very good, enough choice but not over-generous with coffee or toast! The sea view was brilliant

Review 48:Staff friendly but not forward with basic hotel information on facilities. When I enquires about the times of breakfast service, the response was 9 O'clock!

Review 49:Good room with a view of the bay, clean and tidy.

Review 50:very dated but cant complain for the price we paid

Review 51:very good breakfast if they could only get it right , serial should be served before bacon and egg , every morning ,

Review 52:The décor was a little tired but the tariff was set accordingly so no real grumble.

Review 53:Extremely comfortable twin beds, bay view, lift to all floors and very good and attentive service. Nice breakfast. Great location.

Review 54:Only 1 set of Towels Only 1 small tablet of soap Only 1 pillow per person, a spare pillow in the cupboard had no pillow case and was heavily stained The outside of the kettle had tea stains on it The inside of of the Toilet door was dirty / dusty and had dirty marks on it

Review 55:On the sea front The breakfast was substantial

Review 56:This place just needs a good referb. It's all a little out dated. It's all perfectly functional and comfy though!!!!

Review 57:Good location on the sea front, 5 minute walk to town centre. Breakfast was just right... Not the usual greasy affair.

Review 58:Very dirty, holes in doors and walls that look like punch marks? A breakfast which was unimaginably bad... and it cost more than one of the numerous budget chains which were unfortunately for us all fully booked at the time. Grim, very grim...

Review 59:The only redeeming feature of this place was the location on the front. Also that any other hotel we will stay in will seem like a palace compared to this place!

Review 60:Rooms were very tired. Couldn't have breakfast when we wanted at 8am! Had to pay before we had even seen the room. Wouldn't wanted to have stayed longer than one night. At least we didn't have to risk using the shower!

Review 61:Location

Review 62:Pigeons in the bedroom Bad smell in hallway Television receptions very poor On checking in I saw all my credit card details on a standard booking form on a clipboard with many others. Had someone else been checking in at the same time they could have seen these details quite easily General decor tired
