Reviews for Gwern Borter Manor

Review 1:New experience for my familly who come to visit wales for the first time from Morroco ..nice quiet area ...family business highly qualified...clean B&B ...i very much like the location easy to find it ...

Review 2:Hard to find in the dark. Owner grumpy even though we had told him we would be late coming off Holyhead Ferry. Owner defensive about poor wifi but when both sets of guests complained he admitted he was getting it sorted.

Review 3:Elegantly furnished Victorian house with history. Beautiful countryside. Quiet

Review 4:Hard to find. Have to drive tight hedge-lined roads to Conwy or anywhere.

Review 5:Country experience - chickens, llamas, spacious gardens. Lovely house. Friendly host. Great breakfasts.

Review 6:We loved staying in this charming manor. It is in the beautiful countryside outside of Conwy with lovely gardens.Wonderful area for walks. Room was cozy and comfortable. They had many choices for a home cooked breakfast in a lovely room.

Review 7:The bed was a bit small for the two of us with about 1.40 meters. But admittedly we are used to a two meter bed, anything less is not quite comfy.

Review 8:A most beautiful house in a lovely garden, very quiet. A bit hidden away in the countryside, but that is what we like. And Gary gave VERY good directions :o)

Review 9:There was nothing that we did not like.

Review 10:Host wad very helpful and very interesting. The house and furniture were excellent--nice antique furniture --fitting for the 200 year old home. Would like to stay here again.

Review 11:Spiral staircase in our apartment! Difficult to negotiate as I have a bad leg. Had to move the sofa so we did not bump our heads on the iron banisters when going past to the bathroom.

Review 12:Beautiful location and very handy for Conwy and a great local pub! Well equipped apartment. Very pleasant, helpful staff.

Review 13:I loved how this beautiful manor with old world charm was set out of the way of busy roads, but still very accessible with a car to a lot of areas including for hiking up Mt Snowdon and close to Conwy. Very friendly hosts and lots of information about where to eat and recommendations etc. I was very happy with my choice.

Review 14:Not a criticism of Gwern Borten Manor, but finding somewhere that served food within walking distance on Sunday evening was a bit of a problem,

Review 15:Excellent welcoming staff, very clean and comfortable. Excellent breakfast.

Review 16:Beautiful quiet location, but convenient for walking and touring (Conwy only a few miles away). Other "attractions" such as Betwys-co-ed falls, Snowdonia Railway and seaside towns such as Bangor, LLandudno within easy reach as is the Isle of Angelsey.

Review 17:Need more soft pillows. There was the odd hair on the outside of shower as we arrived! Hand towels were not very white, though other towels were fine. We appreciate that the manor is old and full of antiques but the whole house smells musty and the lounge is not inviting at all to sit in quite cool and smells musty. The Manor could do with a complete make over! Also the front of house staff could b a little more interested in its customers walking through his door,a smile does not cost anything!! Not very family minded sorry to say.

Review 18:Lovely location, lovely breakfast, comfy beds. Some staff were very pleasant.

Review 19:The wifi is a bit intermittent but not the hotels fault - it is in Snowdonia!

Review 20:This is a lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. The decor is in keeping with the property and creates a good ambiance. The staff are friendly. The breakfast omeletteI is excellent as is the mint tea made from herbs in the garden. would recommend this hotel.

Review 21:Décor was a little tired in places. Breakfast-scrambled egg was tasteless and overcooked. Toast was cold and not offered a choice of brown or whit bread. Overall breakfast could be improved, especially for the cost.

Review 22:Staff were friendly and helped us find a very nice place to get an evening meal. B&B was in a very nice setting. Good tea and coffee facilities in the room which included biscuits. The room had plenty of towels also.

Review 23:A beautiful manor with nice antiques display everywhere inside the house. It has a fantastic garden but its location is not easy to find. It is located not far from a little village in Rowen, where we found good food in one of the pubs.

Review 24:no bad experience at all, only i dint get internet connection, ( im very addict to it, although the owner gave me the wifi password, but cant have signal, ..

Review 25:very quite area, thats what we expect. :) my favorite big breakfast, ;)

Review 26:No bad experience

Review 27:Nice to be near the mountains and in such relaxed surroundings. Facilities excellent and visited local pub on owner's recommendation which was a lovely walk and served great food. Breakfast excellent and hospitality provided could not be faulted.

Review 28:Historic atmosphere created by period decor and antique furniture. Very friendly proprietors, extremely helpful. Accommodation was beautiful, clean and comfortable. Not too far from the main road but a really peaceful location.

Review 29:Parking could be tricky due to space but manageable, shower was a bit small.

Review 30:The bed was very comfortable, the breakfast was very tasty with locally sourced sausages, and the owner was helpful and responsive

Review 31:The bed had a spring sticking out of it.the sofa smelt and felt dirty, and the cleaning was not spotless. There was cat in the kitchen on the work tops, so we would not have eaten in there. We only see one member of staff.

Review 32:The location was lovely, the sourounding area was beautiful.

Review 33:Outdated. Needs to be much cleaner. I really don't think these folks should be in this business. Just because you own it doesn't mean you are a hospitality professional. A little out of the way and difficult to find - better signage needed. Odorous barn nearby.

Review 34:Funky old house.

Review 35:Friendly welcome. We stayed in the bedroom with full bathroom. Beautiful manor and setting, delicious omelet, complete with fresh picked herbs from the vegetable garden. Recommended Local pub- excellent food.

Review 36:The experience was gloomy and sinister......it felt like everything was bought from a car boot sale ...so incoherent and creepy. We overheard a young Italian couple saying the same things . The washbasin in the bedroom made it feel like a bordello.....the fruit in the basket of the breakfast room was old and rotting which was an indication of the poor quality and lack of culture there. I think someone has to compare the standards of accommodation across the board ....this place was more expensive than other places we stayed which were far superior.....

Review 37:The location is wonderful and very convenient for exploring the Conwy Valley The lovely spacious house has a large and well tended garden. The owner was very welcoming and pleased to help in ant way he can, breakfast was excellent.

Review 38:Nice quite location in middle of the country. It was clean and comfortable breakfast was great gary made sure everyone had breakfast the way they liked it. Good advice to eat in local village

Review 39:Liked it all!

Review 40:The house was beautiful, old but cared for and comfortable. The gardens were fantastic and relaxing. The bedroom was superb and the beds were so comfortable. Breakfast could be a feast or a meal to suit your taste. The service was with a smile and we would definitely use it again as an overnight stopover again!

Review 41:Gary was very accommodating informative told us about local pub which served excellent food . Would definitely return . Hazel & Jason from high peak .

Review 42:Nothing

Review 43:Charming period property in a very beautiful and peaceful location. Very comfortable bed with mountain views. Our hosts were very hospitable and provided a tasty hearty breakfast every morning. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly Recommend

Review 44:Comfortable stay and a friendly owner keen to help with advice about the locality. This manor house is set in a fantastic valley with a beautiful garden to sit in and admire the views. The decor is unusual - a suit of armour in the breakfast room!

Review 45:the room was fine with wonderful views, Room had no shaver point ,Did not have a comfortable night. on investigation found the mattress to be in an appalling state, the sides hanging off exposing the springs with the materiel on top almost disintegrated all held together with a thin sheet of foam and a blanket, I`ve thrown better away. In 2015 to expect paying guests to sleep on a bed in this condition really does disgust me, A GOOD MATTRESS DOES NOT COST A FORTUNE>

Review 46:good views, nice welcome, very helpful on local eateries. loved seeing fresh flower but please no lily`s when you have allergies not good.

Review 47:We could not fault anything.

Review 48:If you are looking for somewhere traditional and of the beaten track the Manor house is for you, it offers a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, Beautiful gardens and stunning views. The suite has every thing you need and is spotlessly clean. Breakfast was cooked lovely and in minimum time, truly has no faults we were disappointed that it was only for one night,

Review 49:g b m came well up to our expectations , it is an old house with plenty of atmosphere and well located for local attractions.we liked the breakfasts with properly cooked tomatoes!

Review 50:Shower could have been more powerful, though it's ok.

Review 51:Comfort bed, big living room, big TV, free wifi everwhere. Very Friendly & helpful Very generous on breakfast, the best breakfast in our experiences, B&B in the UK!

Review 52:The bathroom in our room was small;

Review 53:- The hotel is located in a very peaceful and beautiful place; - The owners are very nice people. They run the place and are very helpful; - Everyday, when we returned from our walks, there was more than the usual coffee in our room. There were chocolates, cookies and hot chocolate, which was very nice. - The breakfast is done perfectly and has many options, including fruits and vegetarian option for those who doesn't want the traditional welsch meal. Also, the breakfast room is very cosy and the choice of music (classic) matches perfectly with the peaceful surroundings.

Review 54:Where to start? Glorious surroundings, perfectly maintained gardens, gorgeous building. Warm welcome, guided tour of the property, advised (very well) on local dining. Great night's sleep, beautiful mountain views, nice shower, freshly prepared breakfast in a clean, well-decorated dining room. More brilliant advice regarding local points of interest and historical significance from a very knowledgeable owner. I cannot be more enthusiastic about or grateful to our hosts for a sublime retreat from the rest of the world.

Review 55:not really bad experience, but do not like sink in the bedroom, this was in the 2 room suite. so would not choose this room again.

Review 58:Lovely location well off the beaten track. The owner Gary was was very helpful and made us both feel welcome. There was no reason not to go again and plans are already being made.

Review 59:Narrow roads and not quite walking distance to nearest pub where we did enjoy meals both nights at Rowan talking to some locals .

Review 60:Very peaceful, great welsh breakfast.wine and beer available at very reasonable prices, at night.

Review 61:The bedroom was great so comfortable. We had the triple room although there were only 2 of us. The furniture was beautiful. The breakfast we had was great, my husband had the full breakfast which was superb, in fact my 2 cousins had the full English as well and they were very impressed. We were all impressed with the breakfasts, nothing was too much trouble for Gary and his wife, they were excellent hosts.

Review 62:There is NOTHING to dislike about this accommodation four star does what it says on the tin. Can be difficult to find but hang a left turn at the Grose pub and your nearly there My recommendation Try it.

Review 63:Tranquillity of the Manor. given your own front door key told to make yourself at home. Location excellent 1/2 mile to Water garden's, fishing available for those who participate, lovely way to spend a day or an afternoon Free Entry. Breakfast time to suit, meal good. Grounds are available for walks chicken's goats and such , children's play area with bikes ect, also adult bikes for hire for use off site.

Review 64:It was quiet and peaceful however it was close enough to all amenities. The cooked breakfast was one of the best I've ever had. The bed was very comfortable and the view from the window was fantastic.

Review 65:Excellent facilities and the full english breakfast each morning kept us going.

Review 66:The bed was unusual and the view was lovely. We liked the silence of the area.

Review 67:Set in gorgeous location and quite convenient to little village. Just thought it was going to be closer to Conwy, not that it mattered in the end.

Review 68:Good location in peaceful rural setting. Friendly, helpful hosts. Interesting surroundings very well presented and clean.
