Reviews for Old Police House
Review 1:It was a little bit cold in the room and there was no wardrobe to hang up clothes
Review 2:Lovely restored house, clean and tidy and located opposite a very good pub that served great meals
Review 3:Nothing
Review 4:The owner is a very lovely lady who makes you feel very much at home and relaxed nothing is too much trouble we have stayed here previously and will be retiring again in the New Year Excellent .....
Review 5:Our pin code didn't work, only because I didn't know the owner sent another one via email.
Review 6:The breakfast was fantastic, and the staff and owner were particularly helpful.
Review 7:Had problems getting into the property as key was no longer in the key box. Also had problems finding the property as no street address was given in the booking confirmation.
Review 8:very comfortable bed, very clean, lovely bathroom, fantastic breakfast.
Review 9:We were made to feel very welcome with a cuppa on arrival. It was the first time we had taken our grandchildren to a B&B and they were very excited. Meg was brilliant with them and very patient .Excellent breakfast.
Review 10:Facilities in "family suite" misrepresented, no door to sleeping area, unacceptable security if you have children or an adult sleeping in this area for that matter, tv broken for the whole time we were there.
Review 11:greta"s inital welcome
Review 12:My only gripe were certain guests strolling in @ gone 3am like it was nothing.... disturbing all the other guests. Obviously they had no consideration for others !
Review 13:It's a beautiful building which has been decorated to a lovely standard. The staff were very friendly and hospitable and nothing was a problem.
Review 14:The breakfast was interesting, you weren't asked what you wanted. The plate was just put in front of you. One egg one bacon one sausage tomatoe and two mushrooms with cheese in. The toast mushrooms and sausage didn't even looked cooked they were so pale. There was also cereal and fruit juice on table and a pot of coffee and tea (whether you wanted it or not it was there) they must waste a lot of food & drink
Review 15:Cash only, not helpful. Prefer to use cards to pay, even with an extra charge. We had to go and get cash and go back to pay. The lady was great but she really should take card payments
Review 16:Layout very good. Two daughters and their friends had apartment yo themselves upstairs
Review 17:There is Only one restaurant in town, and it closed on Monday, which is the day we arrived there.
Review 18:Though a bit far from tourist areas, it is a very quiet town to stay. The place is clean and the beds are comfortable. There is even a bath tub with massage function.
Review 19:No extras appear to be provided by the owner. Drawers smelled a bit musty.
Review 20:Mia - the lady who is currently running the B&B. She is lovely and did everything she could to make our stay pleasant.
Review 21:We spent 8 days touring Wales and this would have to be the worst of our stays. For starters the old stone building was difficult to find. A few laps around the area and then we noticed a sign leaning up against the building on the ground. The owner wasn't there on our arrival but luckily other guests greeted us at the door to give us the owner's phone number. We booked the family room, hoping to get a bit of space and our own bathroom. No much space at all, and nowhere to put our large suitcases so worse if there were 3 of us. The bathroom had no toilet paper, no soap, shampoos etc. We had an electric kettle and teabags in the room but no cups. Also no hairdryer. We were offered the full English breakfast but it was honestly quite pathetic! One egg, one very small rash of bacon a few baked beans and 2 mushrooms all fried and very greasy, not drained before putting on our plates. There was no atmosphere in the house at all. We were woken early by the noisy child upstairs as their area was open. If you are a backpacker & like hostels then this will suit you but at £75 pounds (with a tiny cooked breakfast) it's overpriced for what you get. I wouldn't recommend.
Review 22:Our host Mia was friendly enough but needs to stay in other B&Bs to learn how to run this one!
Review 23:We had the upstairs area to ourselves as a family room. Plenty of space but single beds were opposite end of lounge/kitchen area to main bedroom and there was no door so open to the downstairs, hence not suitable if you have young children with you! Also nowhere to hang towels etc in bathroom and no mirror or shave point either
Review 24:Friendly staff, ideal for an overnight stay but wouldn't recommend for longer
Review 25:- Hardly any decorations on the walls
Review 26:- Friendly host! - Spacious and quiet rooms - Spacious bathroom - A fully equipped kitchen which can be used by guests - Delicious breakfast
Review 27:Inside lacking in character, not cosy. Perfunctory welcome-given two mugs and a jug of milk (no spoons) when asked if we wanted tea after a 5hr journey. Not shown there was a sitting room.Very basic breakfast. No marmalade.
Review 28:Leaving
Review 29:Little privacy as loft is fully open to front door. Downstairs talking/laughter was disturbing upstairs in the evening.
Review 30:Large room, separate bedroom with double bed.
Review 31:No one to me us, shared bathroom kitchen, lounge next to a recreation ground ,no mention of breakfast then we found out breakfast was provided which was too late we had provided our own . could only contact owner by phone
Review 32:an area we had not been to before
Review 33:Gayno and Mila were wonderful, very friendly and welcoming. We were welcomed with tea and the breakfast was delicious Only comment is a towel rack in the bathroom would have been useful
Review 34:Nothing negative to say.
Review 35:new, clean, quiet, good bed, good shower, use of kitchen, use of living room, very nice hostess who cooked us a wonderful breakfast.
Review 36:This place was ideal for me and my friends as we were visiting the coasts of wales/ pbrokeshire. It is ideal if you have a car, not sure how one would travel around without one. Mia, the lady who welcomed us, was very nice and we felt welcomed at this place, we had everything what we needed and she made us some lovely breakfast in the morning. Place is spacious and clean. The internet in comparison was not that strong, meaybe because of the weather, i am not sure.
Review 37:The management of the business was sub-contracted to a non-English speaking lady ill equipped to look after guests. No room service, the beds were not made on our two night stay, drink making facilities lacked cups, spoons, coffee and milk although there was a kettle !!. Cooked breakfast was a dreadful joke almost inedible, I poached my own eggs on day 2.
Review 38:The pub round the corner ! - "The Pump on the Green" is 50m away and has great food and atmosphere. The Old Police House had little to commend it.
Review 39:The tv in the room didn't work. It was a little too quiet. We felt we had to whisper all the time, like sneaking around the in-laws
Review 40:The propety was ideally located and the rooms were clean and well presented especially the bathroom.
Review 41:The house is very pretty and super clean, we really felt like home. The owner Gaina is the best host you can ask for! She even prepared an amazing big breakfast for us (including a very tasty home made sausage) that gave us enough energy to do the hiking around the coast. The house is very well located, easy to reach the hiking routes by car and there is a very good pub in the nearby.
Review 42:The living space upstairs was open to the house so didn't feel very secure especially as it had the single beds meant for the children.
Review 43:A quiet location with a big green and playground next to the house. Very welcoming host who was helpful.
Review 44:Kettle didn't work. Toilet not clean. Cups not changed.
Review 45:Liked the setting and great pub just across the road with excellent food. Gaina very helpful.
Review 46:There was a mix up with the booking which was immediately solved without any problem the room was very clean and tidy. There is a lovely country pub up the road that serves excellent food and is very warm and friendly would definitely recommend to anyone and will definitely stay there again
Review 47:When I printed travel directions an advert for bookings app covered road directions very annoying. No carpets on kitchen floor and thin walls made foot fall quite loud this I am sure was very unintentional.
Review 48:Owner could not do enough to facilitate a pleasant stay.
Review 49:Gaina kept in touch with us, was concerned about our dinner arrangements and waited till we got to the venue. We were caught in traffic jam and got to the venue late.
Review 50:We stayed in the upstairs 'family room' which worked well for my wife and I with 2 small grandchildren but it may not have worked with older children, due to location of single beds being open to 'lounge area'.
Review 51:We were offered access to all of the facilities available, which were modern and clean. Nothing was too much trouble. Easy to find in pleasant village. Local pub provided good service.
Review 52:We liked it all.
Review 53:We stayed for two nights and had the large room with super king bed and en suite. The room is brand new and nicely decorated. Very big bathroom. You have use of the kitchen and lounge area. The breakfast is really good with unlimited hot drinks. The location is a little out the way so a car defiantly needed. But a nice base for a holiday.
Review 54:No door on family suite upstairs, maybe unsafe for very small children?
Review 55:Comfortable beds, family room for 4 is huge, whole top floor. Friendly and helpful host. Free parking and excellent wi-fi.
Review 56:Everything was perfect.
Review 57:The host was very friendly and she prepared a delicious breakfast. The room was large, clean and comfortable. Well located, nice place for walks. Nothing to complain about. We just regretted to stay for one night only!
Review 58:This is a new business and a newly converted building. It has a slightly unfinished feel to it but any small quibbles which we had were made up for by the very friendly owner who addressed everything as soon as we told her. She welcomed us with a cup of tea and found telephone numbers of local restaurants for us so we could book evening meal. It felt very homely and we would definately go back.
Review 59:Very friendly owner who made us feel very welcome. Big comfy king sized bed. We had a big bathroom with a powerful hot shower. The cooked breakfast was very good although the choice of juices, fruit and cereals was very limited. Just outside is a very large grassy area which was great for a game of football with our son. Parking is right outside the door. Very good pub just across the road.
Review 60:-No window coverings what so ever on the velux windows (which are the only windows) in the sleeping or living area so I had to fashion my own with our beach towels but still we all woke up at 5am with the sunrise which meant we were all exhausted during our 2 night stay. -There is no way to secure your personal belongings whilst you are out as there is no door to lock to stop anyone else (guests etc) walking upstairs and helping themselves to your personal belongings. We were in the family suite, the standard rooms downstairs have doors with locks. -The two single beds are in the living area which again has no door to close/lock from downstairs which means that anyone can walk upstairs in the night and into your sleeping area. I'm sure this is a building reg requirement for sleeping areas due to fire safety, which made us incredibly worried. -The lady does not live at the property and left one day/evening which would have been fine as we were given notice and locked the front door when we left early, but when we returned another couple staying had returned, locked their door to their room but left the front door unlocked so anyone could have come in at any time and taken our iPads etc. - I had to ask for more towels as we were a family of 5 (2 adults, 1 x 16 yr old and 2 young children) and we were given 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels, we asked for more but were only given 2 more towels. I was too embarrassed to ask again so had to help myself to have enough for the family for showers. - £250 was a lot of money to pay for 2 nights of barely any sleep and lots of worry. We felt stressed enough that after the first night we spent our first morning phoning round all the local B&Bs trying to find alternative accommodation for the second night. We ended up leaving early from spittal on the last day as we were all exhausted and stressed that we just wanted to get home instead of spending the day in Folly Farm.
Review 61:-The location was perfect for our circumstances and incredibly quiet. -The lady responsible for the B&B was lovely. -Breakfast was very enjoyable and we liked the local produce being incorporated.
Review 62:Only suggestion would be some sort of signage out the front to make it a bit easier to find.
Review 63:Very friendly staff, made to feel at home. Lovely room with a very comfortable bed. Loved the little pub just across the way where we had a great night with some of the locals. Thanks again.
Review 64:Noise inside house, room beside kitchen constant talking and noise from radio. Private external bathroom is not so, it's shared with another 2 rooms and anyone downstairs that needs the toilet. No signage outside building. No place to hang clothes. No teaspoons in room Poor quality coffee and tea facilities. Disorganisation - shown to wrong room then had to move later. Poor welcome owner did not introduce herself
Review 65:Bad experiences tainted any positives at this guest house
Review 66:Why grumble about anything? It's only open 6 weeks, and I certainlywish her all the very best. I would not have been in spittal... Only forit. Would be superb if placed in Broadhaven or Littlehaven!
Review 67:Love the effort these pleasant folk have done to a former policebarracks. Our room was superb for the 3 of us and power shower wetroom. High ceilings. Was just a stopover enroute to boat, and was abargain having spent 4 times as much per night in St. Ives!!! Whats notto like about £70!!! The lady owner even travels and stays to cookbrekkie, and just brings it from the pan to your plate....my wifedon't even do that!!!
Review 68:Nothing not to like, and we are very demanding.
Review 69:Free and easy arrangements, like your own home! Perfect accommodation for two adults and two older children in the upper floor suite.
Review 70:A sign outside would be useful as none of the buildings appear to have house numbers and the locals didn't recognise numbers. The location on Google maps was incorrect - we recognised it from the photo on website.
Review 71:New, very comfortable accommodation. Good food at hotel just up the street. Village easy to find. The biggest bathtub i've ever seen.
Review 72:Car is a must but it is really worth travelling here.
Review 73:Very dedicated landlady, great home atmosphere, large rooms, comfy lounge with HD TV, bathroom, all very clean. Restaurant serving great food at the other side of the road
Review 74:Was made to feel so welcome by the people who own the house. Nothing was too much trouble. Everywhere was lovely and clean. After being out all day came back to having a lovely drink made for us by the owners and asked how our day had been and showed interest in our conversations.
Review 75:This is a new bed and breakfast. The house is not geared up at present for bed and breakfast. When all furniture and facilities are in place and the owner is more experienced in running a B@B then it will be a very good B@B.
Review 76:The owner was always friendly, helpful and obliging.
Review 77:Lovely, friendly and welcoming. We were really looked after. I would definately recommend it
