Reviews for YHA Conwy

Review 1:Nothing

Review 2:The whole place. Cleanest and nicest hostel I've seen yet. Great rooms, bathroom, laundry and kitchen containing everything you need. Great value for money.

Review 3:Our shower was between warm-cold but you slowly got used to it.

Review 4:Great location, our room was very clean. The kitchen was big and looked decent but we didn't use this during our stay. Breakfast was decent, didn't try any of the meals. The place is family friendly and was used by alot of walkers.

Review 5:Lovely accommodation, everything provided. Staff member on shift was exceptionally helpful. Overall just extremely impressed with the facilities and service, was a great experience. Would love to go back for longer.

Review 6:Walls were very thin all around. Cannot bring own alcohol onto the premise, due to the tiny and rarely staffed on-site bar. Breakfast was a bit lackluster but decent for the price. Showers were not too great.

Review 7:The rooms were nice overall, parking was plentiful and the location and view were great. Staff were friendly enough and the rooms were cheap.

Review 8:N/A

Review 9:The location is ideal, just minutes walk to the city centre. The view from our room and from the restaurant was breathtaking. Very friendly and helpful staff.. I would definitely go back and recommend to friends.

Review 10:Smelly, dirty room with lots of spiders, unfonfortable bed. Big hole at toilet door, that people can see inside.

Review 11:Location and friendly staff, games room and playing corner for kids.

Review 12:Property looking a little tired

Review 13:Fabulous location with fantastic views. Cleanliness was great and beds very comfortable. It is good to see the back of the wooden beds at YHA

Review 14:I'm a middle-aged nurse. I booked a double room for the night of our work Christmas party - it was cheaper and safer than a taxi back to my house (20+miles). The room was basic but had an en suite toilet and a shower (take your own towel) and a mirror so I was able to get dressed and do my make up. Reception staff were lovely, interested in my plans, and booked a taxi for me to go into the town. I would certainly stay again if I just needed a bed for the night, and I am buying YHA membership for my sons.

Review 15:The place was welcoming and had a very relaxed atmosphere. Excellent value for money. Very different from my past experiences of hostelling many years ago.in my 'youth'.

Review 16:There was not a thing I didn't like :)

Review 17:The place felt welcoming as soon as I walk up to the front doors & stil remained that way as I was leaving the next day. I have only every good word to say about this place & the staff & also the faculties. Great people, greatest view & one of my wishes came true here & it was to wake up & see a castle just sitting there.

Review 18:Friendly reception staff, clean and comfy room, bathroom facilities clean and practical. Breakfast excellent value, dining room had splendid double access views.

Review 19:Staff were extremely helpful, I had a late arrival and early departure and they bent over backwards to make things as straightforward as possible. Great value for money and good facilities for a hostel - far better than most B&Bs at 2-3 times the price.

Review 20:The only way the YHA service could be improved is with slightly bigger rooms and some double or twin beds.I,m OK with the upper bunk now but it may not always be so.

Review 21:Location!Cleanliness.Lovely staff.Value for money.

Review 22:In a family room but there was some swearing scrawled on the slats of the top bunk that could be seen from the bottom bunk which is not ideal for children. Obviously this is due to other guests and not the fault of the hostel!

Review 23:Staff were all very friendly and helpful! Set in a great location within easy walking distance to the castle

Review 24:- No soap to wash your hands in the bathroom - you have to BYO - towels cost £2 to hire - wifi only works downstairs next to reception

Review 25:family orientated hostel, walking distance to town. If you want you can eat dinner at the hostel which a lot of families were doing, they also have a self service kitchen.

Review 26:No towels provided. Bathroom door had no lock. Had to pull the sheets off our beds after the stay and return them to large bins at checkout. Room rather small. 10-15 min walk from railway station (no problem without luggage, but with luggage it is a bit of a hassle).

Review 27:Nice view from room window. Gentleman at check-in very friendly and enthusiastic. Value for money. There is a lift.

Review 28:The staff is very friendly and amazingly helpful. My mom forgot her reading glasses and one of the staff member literally ran after us to give it back to us. The room was very cozy and each bed had plugs and light near it. Very clean and nice place.

Review 29:Conwy is a beautiful place to visit, we were just pasing through so had no idea it was going to be so unique and beautiful. The hostel is just a short (hill) walk into town, maybe 15mins walk. We had a private en-suite room, all we needed to rest our heads.

Review 30:Shower cubicle quite tight. breakfast had to be booked a day before so no option of last minute changes of mind. ventilation in room a bit poor.

Review 31:location was great, staff friendly. quite pricey for a youth hostel, though that might be because to the last minute booking.

Review 32:There were not enouth small pots in the kitchen (it was only one small pot, it's not enouth for everybody). Our room had a door to the garden but we're not allowed to open it, it was very hot in the room at times.

Review 33:We liked location. Good parking, good view.

Review 34:Room needed good clean, especially under beds. WiFi in room would have been nice.

Review 35:The view, and the self catering kitchen facilities, the food and dining experience.

Review 36:very early morning noise from an excited school group outside bedroom window ! however kids are kids and a 'youth hostel ' is just that , so was good to see them enjoying their stay too , not really a ' negative' as such .

Review 37:Pleasant helpful staff and gorgeous location .

Review 38:nothing

Review 39:Excellent location! Quiet, but right in Conwy. Excellent staff, very helpful, and seem to enjoy their job. It was clean and comfortable, although very basic (as one would expect rom a hostel). Wifi only in the lobby, but it worked well. Free parking. Didn't try the breakfast.

Review 40:I didn't expect to have bunk bed but was comfy. Don't recommend the breakfast. It was greasy. And not much to choose from. Fortunately only bought it for one day. Second day we had a breakfast in fown

Review 41:Room was clean. Good location.

Review 42:Our double room with private bath was very small and comfort was minimum.

Review 43:It was quite clean and reception was friendly. The cheapest option in Conwy as hotels there are quite expensive.

Review 44:Lots of school groups which of course is what a youth hostel is all about however a bit separation would have been better. School activities were going on in the dining room all evening so there was no quiet bolt hole. Cooked meals had to fit around the school groups

Review 45:We stayed at at private ensuite room. very clean, well designed room, has everything you need. The self catering kitchen is bright, spacious. The dinning area has excellent view of conwy. Short walk to conwy downtown. Could not have ask for more.

Review 46:No footpath to the hotel from Conwy town centre (via Sychnant Pass Road). No table in the room. Bathroom light kept on all night.

Review 47:A nice window view, value for money.

Review 48:Bathroom light kept on all night ... No idea how to switch off!!!

Review 49:Yha..... Never used before, but we were amazed at the facilities and area we were in. Excellent cooking area, rooms good in good repair .... Better than some hotels we have stayed in!!

Review 50:Staff were really helpful, one of the guys that works in the kitchen gave us some great recommendations for Snowdonia - which turns out to be spot on. Improved our trip!

Review 51:No free wifi No streetlight, really dark while walking along the road to hotle

Review 52:Beautiful view outside the window Wonderful and Convenient place near the train station and castle.

Review 53:Stayed only one night but generally happy, I wouldn't recommend buying breakfast not the greatest one, and as there is a kitchen you can use it is better to bring your own stuff.

Review 54:Some parents allowed their children to run about and make noise after 11pm.

Review 55:The views from the hostel are stunning, helped to create a very relaxed atmosphere. Also liked that you have a choice to either cook for yourself or order breakfast and dinner.

Review 56:The staff were lovely, accomodation was spacious & excellent value, the kids loved it. There's a nice games room next to the lounge & a little bar that you can chill out in at night. Even a self catering kitchen you can use to keep costs down. Perfect location, we will definately be visiting again soon, thank you Conway YHA :-D

Review 57:One wall of this room was almost entirely window. Welsh weather in winter and the location of the hotel meant the wind rattled them all night. There were points where we were genuinely frightened by the noise.

Review 58:The warmth! The room was very well insulated, to the extent that some of the people turned the heater off before going to bed. Staff at reception were helpful and friendly.

Review 59:Nil

Review 60:Was so comfortavle we wanted to add another night in low season ... quite sad to find they were closed for the next day. Great kitchen and spacious dining room. Bathrooms in rooms excellent.

Review 61:Staff who welcomed us on our arrival lacked people's skills. She was just pointing at the wall for menu and didn't maintain an eye contact whilst we were asking about menu and other infos. She was just pointing at the wall whilst checking something on the table. During breakfast, the same member of staff was in the dining room and she made us feel not welcomed in the vicinity due to her lacking of people's skills. We also found an empty packet of crisp in our room and dirty and a bit stained floor. Beddings were obviously pressed but did not smell clean. We can also hear people's steps coming from the room above ours.

Review 62:Receptionist who spoke to us on our departure was very friendly, and made us feel good while departing. Location is nice with a nice view.

Review 63:Had to step out into the corridor to use toilet and shower next door. Door to room opened outwards and didn't close on itself which meant people walking along the corridor could potentially see one of us in bed or getting changed when the other went next door to use the toilet/shower.

Review 64:Good value deal through booking.com. Good location and views from dining area.

Review 65:breakfast should be available a bit longer, particularly on weekends

Review 66:location, the observation lounge, wonderful kitchen (very clean and organized), staff was very friendly and accommodating, breakfast

Review 67:Nothing to dislike - but one very small, minor suggestion - would it be possible to put a shower mat in the bathroom, as the floor became very wet, very quickly :)

Review 68:Fantastic location, perfect for touring North Wales/Snowdonia, short walk into Conwy, extremely friendly, helpful staff, very good facilities, absolutely nothing to dislike, will definitely stay there again.

Review 69:Hostel is located on a slope, it was laboured when we walked to there with luggage. And we booked a double room, but the bathroom was outside of the room.

Review 70:Kitchen is large, facilities are good. Not far from train station.

Review 71:Not much! In a perfect world thicker walls to protect you from noisier youngsters next door!

Review 72:Excellent one night stay in this hostel that was a world away from what YHA used to be like. Great welcome, location, good straightforward food, nice en-suite rooms and surprisingly good bunk beds.

Review 73:We had a quadruple room for our family of 4. I was pleasantly surprised at the space in the room. The self catering kitchen was a good size and the main kitchen was very clean and provided a good choice for breakfast. Set in beautiful surroundings, very peaceful and picturesque.

Review 74:1. Lack of air in the corridors; 2. Couldn't open the room window, just a little bit; 3. Small room with fitted carpet; 4. Shower releases cold water before warm one;

Review 75:Footfall noise from second floor (on first floor). Lights were on all the time. Could not put light out in bathroom and door was warped so couldn't shut it out.

Review 76:Communal areas V well equipped kitchen and dining area. Location Views

Review 77:We had room no 22 which compared to the other rooms was a closet. It wasn't really big enough for four adults to share. It would be more suited to accommodate 2 people.

Review 78:The hostel was just a 5 minute walk away from Conwy. The kitchen was large and well equipped for self catering and the dining room had excellant views over Conwy. Outside the hostel is lovely gardens that were ideal for relaxing in. Cheap accommodation in a fairly expensive time of year to holiday.

Review 79:The location is bit far to walk up hill but is still considered reasonable reflecting the room rate they charged

Review 80:Free car park and bike locking facilities with security. Good communal kitchen, excellent breakfast and staffs

Review 81:As they were flat out all the time it is understandable that the terrace garden, which was never used, had a lot of weeds growing in a bed, most of which were brambles. I know that brambles are impossible as it's an annual battle I have in my own garden but it would look better if they tidied it up as you can see it when looking out of the windows.

Review 82:We liked everything about the hostel. It's location and views are fabulous, the staff are all helpful and friendly and the whole place is clean. The meals were good and wholesome and well priced. We're definitely coming back and I heard other people saying the same thing - one lass was going to book again for the following summer. The price is reasonable too - so much more affordable than B&B or hotels which are completely out of our league. So, thank you YHA

Review 83:Food a little pricey. Room could've done with a bit more of a clean.

Review 84:Very friendly welcome, and all staff helpful and pleasant. Beautiful out-of-the-way location, but just 5 minutes walk into Conwy centre. Excellent base for exploring Snowdonia.

Review 85:none

Review 86:this is my first time stay in YHA for holiday but it was a fantastic experiences staff are friendly, very helpful , kitchen is clean , nice environment ,good location. definitely recommend to my friends

Review 87:Shower had great pressure and plenty of hot water, but is European andvery tiny.

Review 88:The 4 person rooms had a fair amount of room, and two suitcase lockers.Beds were comfortable with reading lights and plugs. Self cateringkitchen was large with ample room to store food. Wifi worked well onbottom floor. Place was full, but common rooms were not full.

Review 89:Sadly, the evening main course was mediocre and over-priced.

Review 90:Hospitable staff with a sense of humour. I was able to choose between en suite bathroom and the bathroom across the hallway - very good! A good TV lounge with comfortable chairs and settees, plus a little bar. Super dining room with magnificent views to the estuary on one side and the Conwy valley on the other side. Good selection of postcards to send to friends and family.

Review 91:The room had a dirty pair of underwear left, the comforters had stains , the shower clogged and no internet service unless we paid for it.

Review 92:Family friendly, nice café and kitchen to self serve.

Review 93:A few more pots and pans needed in the kitchen and the cafeteria food was medioca.

Review 94:Good range of facilities. Great eating, social and outdoor space - perfect for kids to enjoy in a quiet, safe environment. Clean. Fantastic location with beautiful views and easy access to all the amenities in Conwy.

Review 95:I felt that there wasn't a very friendly atmosphere in general. Very cold. I think the staff should engage more in general chit chat with the guests and thereby encourage more overall conversation and interaction.

Review 96:I loved the views from the hostel and its location in such a beautiful town. Breakfast was great. I liked the lounge.

Review 97:The en suite family room was of adequate size with comfortable beds; the cooking facilities and cafeteria were well-equipped,and spacious, and the bar was reasonably-priced. The staff were helpful and the views were lovely.

Review 98:Conwy was unseasonably hot and there was no way to cool the room. No fans, no windows in the hallways to open. Also, 1 pound for 20min of internet was ridiculously expensive.

Review 99:Good facilities, garden out back and nice cafeteria

Review 100:Great room for our family. The 4 bed room had a bathroom with a shower and since we are a family of 5 there was an extra bed they set up for us. The location is great and we enjoyed our stay.

Review 101:The back door did not open so it was a bit too hot at night time.

Review 102:Very quiet place. Brilliant for families with small children . Would recommend to everybody .

Review 103:The wifi wasn't working the weekend we were there.

Review 104:We loved the location and the facilities including a place to watch the world cup in the comfy lounge.

Review 105:Nice... clean ...and friendly good staff...

Review 106:spacious hostel with great kitchen - and good value for money

Review 107:Late check in

Review 108:Over all good

Review 109:Good view, good restroom

Review 110:Stuff, hot shower, books, shop, bilingual signs inside

Review 111:The spacious, equipped kitchen available for our use as well as the dining room with a beautiful view.

Review 112:Wifi don't run in the rooms

Review 113:Lovly Staff, good bathroom and close to Conwy Center.

Review 114:Excellent location for N Wales coast and mountains. Can't beat it for value. Clean facilities, friendly staff.

Review 115:Extremely friendly staff. Decent selection of alcohol at the reception. Splendid views from the observation deck on the roof.

Review 116:room smelled terrible and pillow horribly stained ; fan and light in bathroom styaed on for ages after use and disturbed sleep

Review 117:location

Review 118:Too far from center. Uphill...

Review 119:A ***** (5 star) hostel, everything perfect about it as a hostel!

Review 120:Excellent location. Excellent hostel accommodation

Review 121:Long way to walking country of Snowdonia

Review 122:Cheap

Review 123:Top bunk bed a little small

Review 124:great location and facilities

Review 125:That i book just for one day, ;)

Review 126:The staff was very friendly and helpfull. The hostel is tidy and clean.
