Reviews for The Revere Hotel

Review 1:A parts of the hotel very old and tired looking. Asked for a quiet room and were put three floors up which was overlooking the back but was very noisy. Lacked the nice finishing touches in rooms and would not rush to go back. I have stayed in better bed and breakfasts .

Review 2:Friendly staff, good breakfast.

Review 3:The only negative was parking you had to display tickets start time 8:00 am so suggest when parking for the night you display ticket to start at that time. That way you dont have to rush out early morning before breakfast. There is also a back entrance from car park to hotel so was not too much of a problem.

Review 4:Decor had an old fashioned charm about it.. Staff very friendly and accommodating (the receptionist actually went to the local shop for me to get my parking vouchers. Now that is customer service) Although hotel may appear small it does have a maze of passages which had numerous bedrooms - We know Jersey very well so know some of the best places for late lunch / early dinner however we did try the "Dorian" next door which is part of the hotel and staff were lovely, Meal small portions for Jersey but very tasty. We also eat at the hotel on one night and had the Chateaubriand Steak which we had always wanted to try - It was mouthwatering, may be expensive for some pockets but well worth the experience of "Flambe" steak at your table ..Central location 5-10 minute walk to St Helier shopping precinct.....May well consider this hotel as our base on next visit to Island.

Review 5:I was in Room 55 where there were twin beds. I found the mattresses very uncomfortable. In fact I felt every spring in the mattress! The duvet was also uncomfortable to sleep under.

Review 6:Close proximity to the General Hospital. Front desk staff were helpful and kind.

Review 7:I've been a regular of this hotel for around 20 years I love it's olde worlde charm excellent location and always have had fantastic staff I received an upgrade to a four poster bed as well thank you

Review 8:Would be useful to explain how the parking works. On the website is says that parking is in the public car park next to the hotel but doesn't say you need to purchase scratch cards before parking. It's not a traditional pay and display car park. Reception was very helpful and sells the scratch cards.

Review 9:Location was good, just a little out of the main shopping area of St Helier. Hotel has own restaurants plus is within walking distance of a number of others, so plenty choice for food.

Review 10:We felt that the presentation in the dining room was too gloomy, and that the carpets in the heavy traffic corridors/ areas needed cleaning. The bed in our room needed replacing as it must have been at least 40 years old, whenever we moved, it bonged and binged!

Review 11:We were handy to city centre, room was larger than normal rooms.

Review 12:I would have preferred a bigger and better quality quilt thats it!

Review 13:The stay excellent, the breakfast was delicious, the staff especially suzanna the receptionist were lovely.

Review 14:Kettle wouldn't work, toilet wouldn't flush. No heating in room (without borrowing a fan heater)

Review 15:The staffs' response to the problems with kettle, toilet and heating. None of it was their fault. Piotor the Polish porter was particularly helpful. Breakfast was excellent.

Review 16:Very noisy. Woken at 5am each day by noisy lorries parking outside my room making deliveries with loud radio noise whilst unloading. Bathroom although clean smelt very musty and damp. Bedroom could do with redecorating and updating.

Review 17:Friendly and helpful staff. Good central location. Although my room was small, it had everything you needed for a short stay and was comfortable. The bed linen was clean, as was the room itself.

Review 18:Staff on reception poor, laundry service was abismal. Would not provide water when bar was closed. Generally not very attentive

Review 19:Rooms where a decent size and all you needed for your stay, good breakfast and wifi good.

Review 20:I had no hot water in room, was only there for one night so just had cold showers. It wouldn't stop me going back, love this hotel

Review 21:This place is so quaint and staff very friendly

Review 22:Nothing at all.

Review 23:My room was spotless. Bed was really comfortable. Breakfast selection was great. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was good for where I needed to go.

Review 24:Noise travelled between the rooms. The shower wasn't particularly good.

Review 25:The breakfast was good. Bar and courtyard areas were excellent. Affiliated restaurant two doors down served nice food with friendly service and great value for money. The location of the hotel is superb.

Review 26:Mattress was to soft and springy, but thats just personal preference.

Review 27:The decor was fantastic. Staff friendly and food was really good. Everything was great

Review 28:The wifi didn't work! And the bed sheets had seen better days. The rooms are cluttered and would be very warm in summer- we were there in mis September and our room with the window wide open was very warm- no air con so beware in summer.

Review 29:Location was good in a street with some good restaurants that were very busy. The staff were delightful.

Review 30:The noise from very loud music in the bistro/club directly beneath our room, which made it impossible to take an afternoon nap before dinner or to be in bed asleep until after midnight. We requested another room after 2 nights and were moved to a top floor room up 6 flights of stairs, which my wife found very difficult but we persevered. The hotel could do with a revamp and good clean. Overall we DID enjoy our stay in Jersey but would probably not return to Revere.

Review 31:The staff and central location were excellent. Clean linen and comfy bed

Review 32:Bedroom furniture definitely needs updating & a few maintenance issues to sort out.

Review 33:A very quirky hotel with a mix of very old furniture but very clean & the staff were great. Location is fantastic.

Review 34:Booked a twin and offered a double on arrival. Supposed upgrade but room was up 4 flights of stairs, big but old and tired furniture. Couldn't stand up under shower, which was very weak. TV aerial kept falling out of socket. Not worth the extra money.

Review 35:The staff were extremely helpful and it was within easy reach of the town. Breakfast was very good, plenty of it and very tasty

Review 36:The floor plan of the hotel was a little quirky. When we were there, the hotel was experiencing wifi problems.

Review 37:Everyone we met on the staff was incredibly accommodating to our needs. The breakfast was outstanding. The bar was a comfortable place to relax, as were the various sitting rooms and swimming pool on the ground floor. The location also couldn't have been better for exploring St Helier and the surrounding areas.

Review 38:I have arthritis and found the bed a bit uncomfortable. The room was good and always clean and tidy

Review 39:Loved the friendly and professional staff and the breakfast was really excellent. Didn't get to the pool in the short visit but would say that was a bonus for the hotel

Review 40:Rooms on the front are noisy, & room 40 is particularly bad as the broken light for the entrance over the street points upwards and stays on all night - not good

Review 41:Breakfast & staff excellent

Review 42:My room was far too noisy, overlooking the entrance so there was speeding traffic, trucks unloading and residents of the street shouting. In fact the location was not a very nice street, although it was convenient for the Esplanade and town.

Review 43:Restaurant food was very good.

Review 44:Our room was very hot, and we did get a fan on request. Some of the areas are a bit tired, but the hotel has a nice atmosphere and the staff made every effort to make our stay enjoyable.

Review 45:Very helpful staff and an excellent breakfast buffet. Very handy for the centre and parking overnight. A nice lounge area and bar for residents to use. We didn't eat at night but there is a popular restaurant and bistro.

Review 46:After staying in the Hotel several times in the past I felt that the standards of the Hotel have dropped dramatically. The towels in the room were ready for the bin and the décor in the room was shabby. The window frames which were metal had not been painted for a long time and the net curtains were also fit for the bin. These are minor issues that would make a lot of difference to the room itself if rectified. Very disappointed that the

Review 47:I have been staying at this hotel for decades and this is the hotel I will book when ever I visit Jersey. Centrally located both for the town centre and becah.

Review 48:Although we were told free wi-fi, the signal , both in our room and in the reception area, was very variable, from medium to none, so I was unable to connect to internet.

Review 49:The staff were particularly attentive and friendly.

Review 50:Reaction from management when advised that the heating was not working in our room and that there was no hot water in the hand basin. Additionally the shower over the bath could not be switched off because the knob had been removed and which incidentally was very hard to locate as it was hidden underneath the bath tap!!!

Review 51:Friendliness of restaurant staff and quality of breakfast

Review 52:The bathtub was very narrow and dangerous. I am cautious but I slipped while taking a shower, fell out of the tub and landed on by side on the edge of the tub. I am still hurting and may have cracked a rib!

Review 53:Decent location. Great breakfast!

Review 54:towels were rough and hard also frayed on the edges. carpets need re placing. black mold on shower tile joints and cracked . very noisy and ground floor room 18 avoid. needs refurbishing

Review 55:bed was comfortable. breakfast was very good. staff pleasant. brasserie food at dorans fantastic

Review 56:Not a dislike and didn't affect us but not suitable for anyone with mobility problems as no lift - about 50 or so stairs to top floor.

Review 57:Very clean and comfortable hotel, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would stay there again.

Review 58:Such friendly service upon arrival, from Reception to Porter Excellent support for my colleague who needed documents printed Lovely recommendation for taxi and bistro next door

Review 59:Wifi is a bit hit and miss but it is free if it stretches to your room.

Review 60:Breakfast was excellent. A real difference to normal impersonal hotels I usually stay in.

Review 61:No poor comments to make.

Review 62:Located just off the town seafront in a quiet street. The decor for the lounge bar and restaurant very cosy and pleasant. Staff welcoming and helpful.

Review 63:the bed wasn't the most comfortable. Some noise from the street outside the window but not to early.

Review 64:Had dinner in the Dorran's restaurant (linked to the hotel) and the food was a good price but extremely good to eat. The hotel staff very polite and helpful.

Review 65:The street facing room I had just above reception was hot so a window had to be kept open which caused problems with noise. Traffic and late night drunks shouting at 3 am did not help.if I booked again I would ask for a room away from the street.

Review 66:Staff were so friendly and courteous. Made me feel very welcome.

Review 67:1.Lumpy bed!!

Review 68:1. Central town location with easy access to beach. 2.Very friendly staff 3.Good breakfast buffet 4.Bus stop for airport( service 15) on sea front. 5.Good overall value

Review 69:The naked feeling in the attic room shower. Bring a curtain and suction cup hooks to feel more secure.

Review 70:Loved the ambiance and the decor. It fit the mood.

Review 71:Hotel is excellent staff also. I have stayed there twice in the last two months and I am booked in again for one night on the 16th of December. So this speaks for itself as a recommendation.

Review 72:Lovely rustic hotel. Beautiful fire in reception. Slightly noisy from other guests and creaky floor boards didn't help above. Great value for money very close to town centre. Overall lovely night.

Review 73:Older style but very comfortable place to stay. Good location, near to the centre of St Hellier. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. The hotel having a pub style bar area was a great place to sit in between times and to just relax by the open fire.

Review 74:Although we love the unique style and quaintness of the hotel we feel in places it is a little too dark and could benefit from better lighting.

Review 75:Friendly, personal service and nothing was too much trouble. We were back and forth from the Opera House so we were ideally situated. It was lovely to be able to relax in the lounge area.

Review 76:No negatives....it's our third stay at this Hotel!

Review 77:Very friendly staff, good food, very reasonably priced.Overall good atmosphere in comfortable surroundings.Well placed for the shopping centre or the seafront.

Review 78:The room was the coldest room I have stayed in since boarding school days. Radiator did not seem to work. Slightly complicated stairs system, if you are at the very top can easily get lost the first time.

Review 79:Close to the city center, Very good looking entrance hall, better than any other 3* hotel I have stayed in. Good breakfast. Room was clean (number 5), quite spacious with good bathroom facilities, but no hair dryer.

Review 80:Parking is not good, the car park is very close by but requires paycards at all times during the day. No off road parking available.

Review 81:Attic room is very nice, although quite a climb as the hotel has no lift. Breakfast was excellent and the location is great for the town.

Review 82:Loved the ambience and the old world comfort. Cosy and friendly with warm welcome. Excellent breakfast. Only stayed one night but hope to stay longer next time. Great find and highly recommend it.

Review 83:Shower took a bit of time to master but the bath was great and no shortage of hot water.

Review 84:Central, welcoming and fantastic value. Comfortable room and friendly staff made for a very nice weekend. Spotlessly clean too.

Review 85:Some parts of the hotel needs updating. Although very clean there was some wall paper coming off our bedroom wall

Review 86:The friendliness of the staff and the food was excellent

Review 87:Not the hotels fault, but a few sleepless nights because some of the actors from the Opera House were staying and some were rude to the staff and very very noisy in the early hours of the morning. At one point I heard the TARZAN scream in the room above us.

Review 88:The Staff were very friendly. Especially the Restaurant Staff. Everybofy that entered the Restaurant were treated as though they were Special. The only downside was the lack of a hotel car park. We have mobility problems and there is a multi storey just down the road, but it was very busy, very narrow spaces and difficult to get into car. We got used to it and still enjoyed a fabulous holiday

Review 89:Only fault was being in a bedroom on the front of the hotel - traffic noise

Review 90:hotel staff were excellent - extremely helpful, a good sense of humour displayed and very professional

Review 91:I swapped rooms from 24 which had a musty smell. Tired furnishings and pillows. A lot of noise from the room above. Creaking floorboards

Review 92:Friendly, helpful staff. They were always pleasant. A credit to the hotel Proximity to the centre of Jersey

Review 93:Dated decor Noise from the room above- creaking floorboards and poor sound insulation. Old, heavy pillows Very cheap, basic loo rolls! Coffee at breakfast

Review 94:Helpfulness of staff Provision of the and coffee making facilities

Review 95:An enjoyable and comfortable 3 day stay. Manager and staff were very friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. Food (breakfast and evening meal) were plentiful and good quality. The perfect hotel in which to spend our 25th wedding anniversary.

Review 96:Nothing

Review 97:Having stayed at the Revere on many occasions we knew what to expect. We enjoy the location, friendly staff and qwirkyness of the hotel. Definitely would recommend to family and friends.

Review 98:A little tired but that is all part of the charm of this hotel. Wifi/server need improving.

Review 99:We spent our honeymoon here 40 years ago so returned for the week end. All the staff were excellent, very welcoming and there was great breakfasts.

Review 100:Staff were excellent and friendly. Nicky deserves a special mention. Offered umbrella's when we wne tout in the rain. Were excellent with local knowledge. Restuarant also worth a visit. Excellent value. Stay here !!!

Review 101:N/a Ps Did you really mean 200 character minimum?

Review 102:The choice for breakfast was excellent. The staff were very polite and helpful. The accommodation was very comfortable.

Review 103:Our room was clean & good size but unbelievably HOT!!! even with window open and an electric fan it made sleeping very difficult. The furniture had seen better days.

Review 104:All the staff were excellent!! the food in the hotels 2 restaurants was superb. The hotel had a very good old world & charm and ambience.

Review 105:Variable quality of furnishing and decor in rooms Noise from road if on front of hotel Thin walls where rooms interconnected

Review 106:Restaurant Staff Location Responsiveness to guest concerns

Review 107:Room 17 - ground floor room next to kitchen. Poor natural light, window overlooked back yard used by staff. No shower, noisy from kitchen fan stuffy at night as we couldn't open windows for noise. Never should be charged out as a de luxe room just because they put a four poster bed in it. General public areas in need of refurb.

Review 108:Moved to Room 56 - no comparison. Large sunny room on the front. Excellent staff and morale, but only so much they can do with poor standards. Excellent breakfast

Review 109:My bedroom was small and the bathroom cramped.

Review 110:The great strength of the hotel is in the friendliness, helpfulness and good humour of the staff. The food was good and the location most convenient. Recommended.

Review 111:There was a selection of complimentary drinks but no spoons to stir them with in room had to use my toothbrush handle! Great for one night but due to being able to hear every movement would not want a long stay

Review 112:I liked the staff they were lovely, the breakfast was great lots of choice and very nice, only had one night there but nice atmosphere in bar etc

Review 113:Nothing really.

Review 114:The staff were excellent and often checked that all was well with you. Case carried to my room very quickly. The location is quite good and but a 6 or 7 minute walk into the main shopping centre. Fairly flat terrain around the Hotel. Most guests were like me elderly and probably chosen for peace and quiet. Very few children during my stay and little for them in the Hotel.

Review 115:Shower over the bath. I can't understand why all hotels don't just get rid of baths & install shower cubicles. WHO takes a bath in a hotel these days?? Getting the water from the shower to a consistent temperature wasn't easy as there was no mixer tap just the usual hot/cold taps but it was ok once you got there! No air-con so might be a bit warm at times; however a desk fan was provided in the room. No room safe which I think is almost essential now - and which could easily be installed in the big wardrobe.

Review 116:Location was great - 5 minutes walk to the bus station (tho there was a bus stop at the end of the road too) & a bit more to the main shopping street. Two restaurants - I only ate in the Candlelight and it was very good. Comfortable room with plenty of storage space. Very friendly staff both on reception and in the restaurant. Breakfast was a hot and cold buffet with loads of choice. There was a decent sized comfortable bar area and a tv/reading room. There is also a small outdoor pool but since it rained for almost the entire time I was in Jersey, I didn't go out to this - but I did see people using it one evening, and it looked nice. I would certainly recommend this hotel - and would stay in it again myself. It's very good value for money.

Review 117:No large mirror in room 17

Review 118:An interesting mix of decorative styles which sets it apart from other hotels. Excellent early breakfast at 6.30 due to travel arrangements

Review 119:Very small room (my partner who is 6ft could stretch out and touch both sides of the room!) hardly any cold running water during our stay or only cold water and no hot, torn curtains, walk in cupboard light not working so couldn't use room or mirror for changing. Be aware of additional parking costs for this hotel. We so looked forward to our stay from the website but were left very disappointed, especially since we had saved hard for our holiday. If we had paid £50 per night we might have expected some issues but not for £110 per night.

Review 120:Welcoming and friendly staff, delicious breakfast, comfortable and welcoming lounge areas

Review 121:Far too noisy at night, rooms too hot for a comfortable stay in summer, need a/c Staff over helpful which was a little intimidating. Boring breakfast, same every day not a very inspired choice although fresh and nicely cooked.

Review 122:The central location

Review 123:The room was above the bistro which is also run by the hotel and the noise is excessive. It is difficult to watch television or read until 11:15 at night and an early night sleep would be impossible. There was also an issue with the bistro staff making a lot of noise one night beyond midnight although the manager did sort that out for us. Rooms adjacent to the bistro should come with a warning about the noise and I do not think that they should be described as de luxe and let at premium rates.

Review 124:Room was spacious, food good and staff friendly and efficient.

Review 125:Central location usually means a chance of street noise in the room, and this is acceptable as long as you don't visit when it's very hot and you need the windows open. Lack of air conditioning then becomes apparent.

Review 126:Great breakfast selection

Review 127:Location excellent for sea front and shops. Being an older hotel, it had character and charm. Staff were so polite and helpful both in the restaurant and reception. The food served was to a very high standard. Over all a wonderful stay making it a wonderful holiday. Will definitely use this hotel again.

Review 128:BUILDING WORK GOING ON IN THE AREA, HAVE STAYED BEFORE AND KNOW THAT IT WILL BE FINE AGAIN ONCE WORK IS FINISHED.

Review 129:WELCOMING AND FRIENDLY RESTAURANT GOOD AS IS DORAN RESTAURANT NEXT DOOR

Review 130:Room was tired and could do with refurbishing. Our room was on the road side and was very noisy in the evening, so had to keep window shut, mainly through cars and motorbikes. Felt it was a little overpriced.

Review 131:Staff were excellent. Everywhere was spotless. Location was local to everything.

Review 132:room needs upgrading, looking a bit tired.

Review 133:location

Review 134:Lovey staff and a great hotel Many thank Dave

Review 135:Some of the attractions closed at the end if October

Review 136:Staff excellent breakfast first class location wonderful for accessing shops and bus station.

Review 137:Very friendly and helpful staff.
