Reviews for The Lodge Hotel

Review 1:We found the place very friendly but quite cold, but it was a very cold day when we arrived. The log burner was lit but it wasnot giving out any heat

Review 2:Food was very nice fresh and hot very nice people who owned the hotel and any other staff were very friendly. And helpful

Review 3:Walls between rooms paper-thin - we were unfortunate who we were next to in the adjacent room who were "busy" and noisy all night. It spoilt our stay.

Review 4:Service excellent, food good, ambiance great, style and character of property good and location great.

Review 5:Very dated and tired looking. Very expensive food that wasn't worth anywhere near what was charged. Food lacked flavour and even basic seasoning. We had a twin room and was the worst bed I have ever slept in. Or not slept in shall we say. Noisy lumpy creaky mattress. Crispy noisy bedding, dirty carpets and a 1980's television. Not worth our final bill of £460 for 3 rooms and way below average food for 1 night! :-(

Review 6:Location was nice and overall look of the hotel was good.

Review 7:The location was good for what we had planned for visiting north Wales. Advice for others ..... plan well to get the most out of your daily destinations. We had an excellent holiday.

Review 8:The fact that you have to paid for Wi-Fi when most places offer it for free. I would used my own but the service out there was terrible. The walls were thin & I think it needs a little more up dating. I had a VHS, TV in the room

Review 9:The meal was lovely and so were the staff. They were friendly.

Review 10:Could not get the TV working in the room and had to get the owner to sort this out on the first night and we couldn't get it to work on the second night and everything was locked up with no one around to help so couldn't get it going on the second night at all. No provision in room for milk intolerance, bedside lights didn't work for the money paid I was a little disappointed.

Review 11:Breakfast was great as I have food allergies. Location was good.

Review 12:Walls very very thin. No sleep due to a unhappy toddler and noisy parents. Very very old tv, worked when wanted. Breakfast was not buffet. Nice but you could only have certain things on menu, not all. Small cooked breakfast.

Review 13:Great staff. Nice relaxing bar area. Very well situated

Review 14:There wasn't anything we didn't like.

Review 15:Quiet location. Warm welcome and lovely food. Manager and Staff are really friendly and make sure you have all you need.

Review 16:We were made to feel at home and nothing was to much trouble. The food was really something to write home about with nice size portions. The room was clean with a large bed which gave us fantastic night sleep. Will always use The Lodge whenever we will be in the area.

Review 17:Not really bad, but WiFi not all round hotel. An essential in modern hotels, also should be free although £5 per stay not prohibitive.

Review 18:Very much as above

Review 19:The owner trying to make a customer look foolish when he complained about burnt food! A trick played where two room telephones were joined so that each room was left saying hello to each other. The owner said it was a telephone fault but when it happened and I asked about it the owner had laughed as if it was just a joke. Don't expect a biscuit in your room after the first nights stay as the owner thinks you may pay less per night so you are not entitled to it. (yes one biscuit each) Sheets are not changed for four nights if you stay more than one night.

Review 20:Breakfast except penny pinching on toast

Review 21:Very poor wi fi but proprietor tells us that in the not to distant future the whole of the Snowdon area is going to be fibre optic cable supplied. So this problem should be overcome. Really it was nice for a change to be off the I pads etc.

Review 22:A very homely comfortable accommodation close enough for all we wanted to do. But far enough from the hustle of the three day festival.

Review 23:Bathroom very small and basic. NO hot water for a bath on second night. On calling the reception for assistance told that many residents having baths/showers and drained hot water supply. No refund offered when I checked out or apology for my inconvenience.

Review 24:Breakfast choice was limited but food good, freshly cooked and hot. Reception staff friendly and restaurant pleasant and efficient

Review 25:The staff was lovely. I left a couple of things in the closet when we checked out, and housekeeping called the local laundromat where she thought we had stopped. Needless to say, I was very surprised when the laundromat attendant asked if we were the Americans who had been staying at the Lodge! I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

Review 26:5 pounds for wifi. Much too expensive. Room overpriced for dated furniture. Twin beds instead of double. Weird dinner setup. No breakfast set out. No value for what we paid.

Review 27:Dinner was okay.

Review 28:Never slept in an en-suite room having a washbasin in the room, outside the bathroom! More than a hotel, it looked like a kind of old-fashioned residence, too far from the twon centre and quite badly furnished (at least for the price asked for).

Review 29:The room was very silent as we had requested and it was quite spacious; the car park is quite spacious and the tea and coffee facilities ok. Breakfast was quite good too, even though we didn't try the full English breakfast.

Review 30:Attitude of staff. Breakfast could have had much more choice with some fruit or yogurt for example. We were ignored when we sat down for breakfast for some time. Would have been nice if doors in the room shut and could be opened easily. Told no evening meals available when we called, fact they do do them! Small TV that failed frequently. No heating in the morning.

Review 31:Position worked for us. Food quality was OK. Good car parking.

Review 32:The evening meal can be a little expensive and there is no nearby eating places you can visit.

Review 33:We were upgraded when we arrived and we had a lovely room which was spacious, clean and the king-size bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was also very good. The breakfast was very good.

Review 34:Nothing.

Review 35:The breakfasts were excellent, the bar area was very friendly and was well stocked. The owner was very friendly and helpful and all of the staff were lovely. Both dining areas were very nice, we had a meal one evening and it was very good.

Review 36:Access after reception closed via dark side entrance with no obvious lighting. Stayed in room 4 and was woken by noisy pipes as other rooms had showers. Breakfast only bewteen 8.30 and 9.30... not exactly a lie in!! For £95.00 was disappointed and feel if you going to charge this sort of price for B&B then facilities need to match. I can only descride it as a cross between Bates and Crossroads Motel!!

Review 37:Location, breakfast, friendly staff

Review 38:The accommodation. Small, in need of updating, no sink in the bathroom. Bathroom small with no extractor fan. Furniture was tired looking. Bedroom door opened directly onto the outside path to all the other bedrooms. There is no sound insulation and I felt very exposed with the door opening directly onto the garden. I wouldn't stay here again and felt it was way overpriced for the type of accommodation.

Review 39:The staff we're very friendly & helpful.

Review 40:My husband and I found this property to be well situated, accommodating, offered delicious food, and the garden area was absolutely beautiful. Would happily stay again if in the area.

Review 41:Booked a family room stipulating a cot was needed for our one year old. When we arrived we had a large bed and sofa in our room with sheets left out presumably to turn the sofa into a bed for our 3 year old. When we asked at reception about the cot a very pleasant yet very stressed girl told us that the hotels one cot was being used by another family. And we were left without any cot or sleep for the night. When we checked out the next morning the older lady was having none of my complaints and told me to wait for the proprietor who never bothered to show his face. Felt service was completely lacking in this establishment and would definitely not recommend to families or anyone who expects more than a musty smelling room and lumpy bed for £120 a night

Review 42:scrambled eggs at breakfast were a bit over cooked but the rest of the breakfast was lovely. The waiting staff at breakfast could be clearly heard delivering the order to the chef in the kitchen, good job she didnt say anything insulting but it was a bit embarrasing hearing her shout " the woman on her own wants the haddock"

Review 43:bed was extremely comfortable and facilities excellent

Review 44:Atmosphere pleasant. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Rooms comfortable. Food good.

Review 45:no wifi in rooms. 10" tv that kept loosing volume. generally very tired rooms.

Review 107:The staff where fantastic in there duties and made time to talk to you, making us feel very welcome . Also had a fair knowledge of local walks . The food was of very good Quality . A good all round location .

Review 108:The staff at the Lodge went well beyond providing good food and hospitality. Neil and Diane went out of their way to ensure our comfort and took a helpful interest in our planned activities

Review 109:Double bed was two singles pushed together, ancient tv , freeview bad , cramped bathroom , sink in room , no WiFi in room , £90 paid for room , warm beer.

Review 110:Car park

Review 111:Washing facilities in room were a bit cramped. TV could do with updating - full range of freeview channels not available.

Review 112:Service, food & drink, cleanliness & general comfort were excellent

Review 113:Very friendly owners and staff, beautiful village environment, close to Conwy. The rooms were clean and cleanliness was maintained throughout our 3 day stay. The room had plenty of space with a lovely garden at the door. Lots of parking space. The Welsh breakfast was delicious.

Review 114:Next time we would ask for a bigger bathroom. Found shower control difficult to operate.

Review 115:We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Very relaxing, staff friendly and very helpful. Our food was excellent, we had two evening meals and the presentation and quality of food was excellent. Room very good with plenty of storage space. Will be coming again and have recommended The Lodge to friends.

Review 116:Lack of any atmosphere in the lounge bar. Over expensive food and wine in the restaurant for the average quality.

Review 117:Overall friendliness of staff, cleanliness of room and public areas and good location.

Review 118:Nothing to dislike, Oh with dinner great fresh vegatables just to much to possible eat all.

Review 119:This short visit and stay at the Lodge Hotel was much enjoyed. The excelent service, hospitality and freindly manor of all staff at the hotel would be dificult to better. Great breakfast and nice restaurant for evening meal, spoilt for choice on menue and good value. Shall definetly visit again. Edwin (Monaco)

Review 120:I was expecting more for the price, the room was quite small, the tv tiny, not really nice to be in which was not too bad given it was summer and the weather ok. There is no parking available at the nearest railway station.

Review 121:A friendly welcome and the owner was very pleasant. The local pub was very friendly and had very good beer. Conwy is not too far away and is lovely.

Review 122:We were travelling with dogs and were lucky with the weather - so it was not a problem we sat outside, but it would be good if there was an area inside that could accomodate dogs - as I say this was not an issue for us

Review 123:Staff could not have been more friendly or more accomodating - from the minute we arrived they went out of the way to cater for our needs
