Reviews for Ardwyn House
Review 1:None - all good and would stay again if in the area.
Review 2:We enjoyed a very warm welcome, including the offer of a cuppa and some freshly baked lemon drizzle cake - yum! Katie and Roger are very keen to ensure their guests are comfortable and have their needs met. They have achieved a good balance of being available for a chat and some helpful info, without needing to be 'entertained' by the guests. The rooms seem very fresh and clean, and a good size (as per the photos on the web). Highly recommended.
Review 3:Hosts were so friendly and helpful, beautifully decorated rooms with good facilities and the most amazing shower to wake up to. Wish we could have stayed another night.
Review 4:nothing!
Review 5:Very friendly owners, knowledgable in local activities, interested in what the guests are interested in - no doubt to be able to pass that on to others, lovely welcome, super breakfasts, clean and very comfortable room. Everything to encourage a return.
Review 6:Nothing
Review 7:The location, the comfortable way we was made welcome and made to feel at home. The stunning house and interesting history, the local village made us welcome for 1 night
Review 8:Helpful and friendly owners. Tea and home made cake on arrival. Very pleasing decor throughout, in keeping with the age of the property. Maps and information on local walks available. Breakfast freshly cooked to order.
Review 9:No adverse comments. Everything perfect.
Review 10:Owners very friendly and welcoming. (Cup of tea and home made cake on arrival). Very helpful with suggestions of places to visit or walks. OS maps available to borrow. Attractive décor in keeping with the age of the house. Lovely breakfast cooked to order, served in light and airy breakfast room. Quiet and peaceful but close to station and town centre.
Review 11:Our hosts were friendly and welcoming, showing our son the bikes, the trampoline, things to occupy a lone child. The rooms were stunning, and breakfast was fabulous, from the colour of the eggs yolks, the locally sourced produce, great taste and plentiful. We highly recommend Ardwyn House and will certainly stay here again the next time we are in the area.
Review 12:Excellent hotel and Katie and Roger were a lovely couple for whom nothing was too much trouble. Beautiful house and room and the breakfast was locally sourced quality produce. Great advice given for local attractions. Comfortable and relaxing stay which was exactly what we wanted. Highly recommended!
Review 13:The lovely smell all around the house; the cleanliness; the comfort of the bed (which is great after several hours of driving); the friendliness of the owners.
Review 14:Children and dogs running around doesn't give a very relaxing setting. The decor is made to look very dated and isn't to everyone's tastes. There was only a bath in the room, no shower. The difference between a large and small full English was one rasher of bacon and one sausage with no alternatives for breakfast items you did not like. Due to it being family owned, we waited around to see somebody for a while before they showed up even though we rang the bell.
Review 15:We were given maps and directions to various places that we could go walking which was very helpful. The tea and fresh brownie on arrival were lovely.
Review 16:They have been very sympathetic with the furnishings which complements the history of the building. Both Roger and Katie were very friendly and made us feel very welcome.
Review 17:the ambiance and feel of the building, charming, the bedroom was really comfy and spotlessly clean. on a personal opinion, I found it rather awkward having to get into the bath to have a shower, because of my disability, back problems, in all fairness we was offered a lovely room with a separate shower cubicle which would have suited me more but it was up two flights of stairs, so again, with my dicky back etc we opted for the one with the bath on the lower level, also with me being me I assumed there would be dressing gowns, but of course that would be a hell of a load of washing for the hosts, but what you got for the price was amazing, the breakfasts were fantastic, as was everything else, nit picking I suppose!
Review 18:We were greeted and welcomed as we pulled up in the car. We were made welcome throughout our much too short a stay. Marshmallow bed. Bathroom fit for a king. Perfectly cooked breakfast. Felt as if we had not paid enough for what we'd received. Nobody could be dissappointed with Roger and Katie's beautiful house at any price.
Review 19:Nothing.
Review 20:Congenial hosts. Interesting & stylishly refurbished period house. Challenging library. Quiet and private. We'd definitely stay again if the chance arises.
Review 21:Our second visit to Ardwyn House and it was just as great as the first! We had a very comfortable stay and Roger and Katie could not have been any more welcoming or kind. Will be back asap!
Review 22:Accomodation was spotless, food was delicious, staff were warm and friendly.. The location was beautiful, everything was just perfect. Would definitely return.
Review 23:The rather weak plot in the GK Chesterton Collected detective stories - String Of Pearls - dont bother to read it.
Review 24:Food, lemon drizzle cake, breakfasts, comfort, decor, library, Eco-fan, bathroom, host(s), tea. Just impossible to fault this hotel/B & B/ Guest house - call it what you will. Such a great place. The poached egg served up for breakfast has renewed my ambition to try yet again to attain perfection in this craft!
Review 25:There was nothing to dislike!!!
Review 26:Very friendly and homely. The food was excellent as were the hosts. A lovely family and lovely children. We were made to feel very welcome and nothing was to much trouble for them.
Review 27:Everything about our stay: a warm welcome on arrival. Location close to town centre, but quiet and rural atmosphere. The house had "character" but was clean, comfortable and well maintained. We wanted a light evening meal, and our hosts offered a wide choice of sandwiches on request. Enjoying use of the pool table in the lounge was an added bonus. Breakfast was excellent: wide choice, well presented and prepared.
Review 28:The fact that they didnt provide us with a sedan chair ride to the pub!! Joking
Review 29:The owners, crikey even the kids were a joy. The unusual feel to the hotel which made it a stand out experience. The informality and yet trust displayed by the owners. All b and B should be like this
Review 30:There's nothing not to like about Ardwyn House!
Review 31:House - 1920's period features Cleanliness and decor Relaxed atmosphere Friendly welcome and contact with owners during stay Location
Review 32:not one thing!
Review 33:Great Hosts and beautiful room. even better bathroom! The breakfast was fantastic, the location was beyond beautiful. Most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. I cannot wait to go back, but this time I am going to stay longer.
Review 34:Our second time staying at Ardwyn and we will return again. From the cuppa and cake on arrival to the farewell, Roger and Katie make you feel welcome. Rooms are fantastic and the breakfast excellent.
Review 35:nothing
Review 36:Hosts Katie and Roger were the most attentive hosts imaginable , not intrusive but lovely people. The en suite room was beautifully clean and comfortable ,especially the bed. When it comes to discussing the breakfasts ,there's only one thing to say, absolutely wonderful !! We have stayed at many hotels and b/b's around the British Isles and Roger's cooked breakfasts were the best by far.
Review 37:Maybe the should attach something big and heavy to the keys of the room, so you don't take them home with you by accident!
Review 38:Warm welcome by the owners Beautiful property with nice, clean rooms & ensuite Cosy dining and sitting room for the guests on the ground floor Nicely cooked breakfast and fresh fruit salade as a starter

Review 78:Nothing; everything 10/10
Review 79:Kate and Roger were very welcoming and very friendly; to our surprise we were received with a delicious home made cake. The house has a lot of character, with beautiful period furniture. The room was very nice and spotless; the bed was comfortable, and the shower perfect. The attention to detail is second to none. The breakfast was very good; I felt we were spoilt for choice. The home made jam was fantastic. In all, we had an excellent time there, and certainly a place I would love to come back!
Review 80:Excellent location, very peaceful, wonderful hosts, amazingly beautiful house, delicious breakfast, plenty of places to have an evening meal (only 2 minutes walk away), extremely comfortable bed (4 mattress toppers is the secret - I investigated haha!), roll top bath and lovely toiletries, truly scrumptious homemade lemon drizzle cake and a pot of tea on arrival. We loved Ardwyn House!
Review 81:Nothing to dislike
Review 82:Katie and Roger are excellent hosts. They shared their home which makes you feel so relaxed. Ardwyn House is in a great location and our room was clean and extremely comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful, best eggs and sausage I have tasted in a very long time, 10 out of 10. We heartily recommend Ardwyn House, A big thank you to Katie and Roger.
Review 83:Easy to find in stunning location quiet location, views from our room. Very friendly owners welcoming tea and cake. The house is arts and crafts design with plenty of shared reception space. Excellent breakfast with lots of choice, there was even homemade marmalade and local honey. Fantastic would stay again.
Review 84:Having to leave!
Review 85:We arrived slightly early, planning to ask to leave the car and go for a walk but we were greeted and invited to check in and then offered tea and delicious cake! The house is beautiful and has been done up to an exceptionally high standard. We had a beautiful bathroom and bedroom, complete with a roll top bath and two armchairs in the bedroom. We stayed for 2 nights and really did talk about staying for longer and when we realised we couldn't when we could come back. Although given space you really do feel like you're staying with friends as Katie and Roger are the perfect hosts, always being on hand if anything's needed. We loved how there were walking maps and routes available for our use downstairs (a local pub tried to sell us something similar) which we took full advantage of. Having two rooms downstairs that we could also use meant that after a day of walking we weren't confined to our rooms. Instead we could sit in the lounge/breakfast room, play snooker or find a book, DVD or board game from their extensive collection. While of course having access to their honesty bar, which again was a vey nice touch. Breakfast was easily the best we've ever had, nothing was too much trouble and there were plenty of options. And we were pleasantly surprised when we were asked when we would like tea and cake on the second day too! Completely unexpected but such a nice touch.
Review 86:The owners, Katie & Roger were so friendly & welcoming. They have a very interesting background & were always happy to chat. We never got the impression they were too busy despite the amount of work they obviously put in to running the house. They even baked cakes especially for check-in! The house itself is beautiful. There are roll-top baths in the en-suites, a library with a pool table, and a light and airy breakfast room. Period features & decor make you feel like a Victorian tourist! All the bed linen was pristine & felt wonderful, giving us a very peaceful nights sleep. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!
Review 87:nothing at all
Review 88:The decor, the library the pool table, THE FLAPJACKS!!! The breakfast. All were done with love, care and attention to detail. Dan is a little star!
Review 89:Beautiful guest house, fab wallpaper and other furnishings. Excellent breakfast, really well cooked and loved the homemade marmalade. Very comfortable bed, luxurious bed linen and super power shower. Very welcoming hosts, nothing too much trouble - enjoyable stay and excellent value!
Review 90:Kate And Roger where superb hosts, friendly informative and very nice welcoming people and made us very comfortable along with a much appreciated pot of tea and cake on arrival, most of all this couple provide great value in this lovely area of beauty and the property was a delight along with the excellent breakfasts and home made preserves. we can highly recommend the ardwyn house. do avoid the neuadd arms hotel for food in the village The meals we had ''one night only!'' were disgraceful! you are warned!
Review 91:On leaving, I was encouraged to provide feedback on anything that could be improved - I can honestly say I could find nothing which could be improved.
Review 92:All the previous good reviews are well deserved. Roger and Katie and their family made me feel at home from the moment I arrived to the moment I left, with nothing being too much trouble including tea and very nice home made cake on arrival to the loan of an OS plan for a walking day. A lovely and comfortable place with excellent hosts. And if you are lucky you may even get a drawing to take home from the very nicely chatty Little Dan.
Review 93:The ardwyn house is a great place to stay. The rooms are lovely, clean and comfortable. The people who own the house are lovely and chatty. They make you feel welcome. The breakfasts are very nice and a wide option of food to choose from. A great place to stay. Would definitely return
