Reviews for Mountview Hotel

Review 1:No too much of a problem, but the room I had was right next to the road which made it quite noisy with both traffic and outside loud people! (No fault of the hotel really)

Review 2:Very pleasant staff, courteous and nothing too much trouble. Excellent breakfast.

Review 3:short walk into town , slightly up hill on way back , may be an issue if you have poor mobility. this didn't effect our stay and we would stay again in the future

Review 4:Excellent choices and quantity at breakfast and excellent service ! All Staff very friendly and approachable and we loved their beautiful little dog ! our room was cleaned daily . My husband and I enjoyed our stay in Jersey and the affordable budget room made this possible .

Review 5:There's no way you could dislike anything about this hotel for what you pay n what you actually get its up a bit of a slight hill which for me was great to walk the beer n food off

Review 6:From the minute we booked to the minute we left the staff / owners were great with us , advising best way to get to the hotel from the airport , what to see n do once there , breakfast was very good loads of choice to suit every apetite, thanks again

Review 7:Room was the worst in the hotel even though I booked 3 months before, I assumed it would have a view, instead we could only see the back of the hotel. Quite a distance in which the hall way had obvious water damage and our room smelled damp at times. Overall nice, good value but still disappointed

Review 8:People where very nice

Review 9:Number of parking bays are restricted but there is a public car park only 5 minutes walk away which is free overnight, so parking did not become a problem.

Review 10:This old established two star hotel represents very good value for money as many hotels in Jersey are rather on the expensive side. The hotel was clean (full marks to the cleaning staff), the food excellent (breakfast) and the staff friendly and helpful. We were met by 'Bailey' the resident dog who is a 'cutie' and the star attraction.

Review 11:could not find anything to dislike

Review 12:Breakfast was excellent, so much choice. Room was good for a budget room also had balcony, loved it. Always greeted with a smile and so much friendliness from Marie and Jill, and of course can't forget Bailey 'THE BOSS'. Enjoyed my Guinness every night thank you.

Review 13:Sheets on the bed were fresh and clean and fresh towels every day. Attention to detail in the room cleanliness could have been better. A few spider webs throughout. A selection of mismatched hangers and odd cups.

Review 14:Staff were excellent! I was staying there with my gran as she's never been to the Channel Islands. One night, whilst in the hotel bar having drinks, we were chatting with Jill, receptionist, and mentioned that I preferred Hendricks Gin and my gran w liked McGuigans red wine, they had the white but not the red. The next day on our return from a day out, we had a note under our door from Jill. She had bought in a bottle of Hendricks Gin and also a few bottles of McGuigans red! Very impressed!

Review 15:Only 6 car spaces out front (actually 5 + 1 across the back of 2-3 others!), so sometimes hard to get a space. Dogs in the breakfast room. We don't feel that it is hygienic.

Review 16:Location. A short walk down the hill to a very good restaurant, La Cantina. The floorboards upstairs creaked, so there was a lot of noise at night. It was very cheap! The room was kept clean.

Review 17:Only 5 car park spaces and finding a parking space nearby was a nightmare.

Review 18:Amazing breakfast. Very friendly staff. Great location. Nice rooms. Great value hotel.

Review 19:Coming back at 10.pm no chance to have night cap or anywhere to chat about our day. Had to whisper in bedroom. What was lounge all locked up

Review 20:It's very near centre of St Helier

Review 21:There were ten of us-I was surprised the total bill was settled from my credit card rather than each individual being allowed to settle separately

Review 22:Friendly and helpful staff

Review 23:The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, our room was very clean and comfortable, walk to town was not very far from the hotel, the cooked breakfast was very nice and the price we paid for our stay was good value would book again.

Review 24:I have stayed at this hotel before. This time because of a late flight and an early meeting I did not spend much time at the hotel. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The breakfasts are good. I did not have the opportunity to use any of the hotel's facilities. The hotel is good value for money.

Review 25:We had an altercation with a very rude staff member who was quite offensive: his comments regarding my "English" was quite degrading and unprovoked. I may have a foreign accent, but no one else has ever had an issue, so I found this a personal attack with my foreign background (even though he was foreign too...). On two occasion he said out loud to me "I can't understand your English". It was quite bizzare as I was asking for the herbal tea and a full English breakfast. If I can communicate at work on a professional level I am sure I can communicate with a waiter. You do not need a diploma in English to order breakfast. Luckily for mountview, the receptionist is an absolute star and was very accommodating during my time of rage/distress/degradation. I am still stunned that people like that have a job in hospitality.

Review 26:The facilities were comfortable and the reception staff member was extremely helpful. The bed was comfortable, the location was handy and the breakfast was decent. Nice and quite, with renovated rooms.

Review 27:The hotel itself is located on a hill so not too great if you have big buggies wheelchairs etc. Our room was right next to the lift which was very noisy at night- not ideal with sleeping baby! Parking was the main issue. if you hire a car... avoid this hotel! 4 spaces for the whole hotel. People block you in which resulted in me being stuck and very late for an important family dinner :( hotel should not allow guests to park like that. Parking is available in people's park in town but that gets very costly per day and if you have small children parking down the hill everyday is annoying!

Review 28:Hotel is located very close to town and ideal for exploring the island. The staff are all friendly and the breakfast was great!

Review 29:Our room was dark no natural light, there was no windows just a patio door with curtains. The shower was poor it kept going hot and cold.

Review 30:It was friendly and the breakfast was very good.

Review 31:Mountview is located up a slight hill about 10 mins stroll from the centre, the staff are very welcoming and can do enough for you. Our room was cleaned everyday with a change of towels. We were very happy and would come again.

Review 32:Rattling door - though easily wedged. The weather - though you can't blame the hotel for that.

Review 33:Fun, helpful staff. Great breakfast. Closer to centre and less uphill than expected. Nice room. Exceptional value for money.

Review 34:Our room had a nice balcony and was rather big. If you love British breakfast, you get what you'd expect. Luckily they also serve some continental components for all those who aren't necessarily keen on greasy breakfast.

Review 35:room was budget price but although clean .the toilet was stained brown, cleaner should bleach and car parking hit and miss but would like to say the cost was good for the room overall.

Review 36:freindly helpful staff nothing too much trouble. # The cooked breakfast was excellent with a very good choice for a two star small Hotel.

Review 37:The kettle could of done with a clean. The parking facilties are hit or miss just 5 bays, and quite a distance to go to find somewhere else to park.

Review 38:Staff were wonderful! Breakfast was lovely.. very patient with my children.

Review 39:Even though we knew there were steps from street to reception and then a lift to other floors, we ended up with a second lot of steps and the lift was very small.

Review 40:Walking distance to the town centre which helps with touristing. Early breakfast made available to us on our last day. Great internet in room.

Review 41:Expected sister hotel to be nearer. Needed to take a bus! Patio area looked rather unloved. Some croissants at breakfast would be nice.

Review 42:cleanliness, comfy bed, good breakfast

Review 43:The rooms weren't soundproofed. You could hear people walking around above your heads.

Review 44:The manager/owner was very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were really good and the service in the restaurant was excellent.

Review 45:The bath could have done with a shower screen... My kids kept soaking the floor

Review 46:The view from the balcony was beautiful and the staff were really friendly

Review 47:no bad experience, only downside is location of hotel which is up a hill with very narrow or no pavement in places, which of course is no fault of the hotel

Review 48:Excellent breakfast,large comfortable bed,friendly staff

Review 49:Didnt like the stairs you had to climb to get upto the reception.

Review 50:We enjoyed the lovely hospitality of the staff and also we enjoyed the lovely breakfast.

Review 51:Thin walls and ceilings, could hear other guests walking around upstairs. However slept through fine.

Review 52:Great location, 20 minute walk from town Center and bus station. Cheery welcoming staff and comfortable facilities.

Review 53:The staff were lovely and helpful, the hotel was very clean and we had our room cleaned every day which was great because we had our dog with us. The breakfast was fantastic and very well presented.

Review 54:They gave me a pass code for late entry. . Was open every nyt I stayed...

Review 55:Booked at short notice and was battle of flowers weekend so island was busy... good location if u don't drive.

Review 56:Breakfast was very poor, cold sausages and powdered egg. Housekeeping staff very loud early in the morning and a bit intrusive. 'lounge bar' consisted of a few cans of lager and a bottle of whisky in reception.

Review 57:Good location, easy for getting around, clean and tidy. Receptionist was very pleasant on checking in and out. Jersey was a fantastic relaxing place to visit

Review 58:I had a small baby and they put us on the top floor with no lift the bed had a piece of wood board on the bottom and the place was very dated . The breakfast was horrible cold eggs and very tasteless but the toast and cereal was good there was a small selection off continental breakfast and the plates were dirty meal was terrible but the plates with full English or eggs etc were roasting hot ?

Review 59:The wifi was brilliant and the rooms were very clean everyday thank you to the cleaners :)

Review 60:Poor selection of vegetarian options at breakfast, i.e. veggie sausage etc. One member of staff was cold and unfriendly towards us and was watching our every move as if we were under observation, don't know why this was. We could not relax in the guests' lounge, again she was watching our every move. We felt very uneasy in this atmosphere.Location .a fair walk from town centre, no town bus service

Review 61:Room was well serviced daily, bathroom was well cleaned, maid was friendly.

Review 62:The only thing I could say is that the renovations hadn't got as far as our room so there was a broken window catch.

Review 63:The room was very clean and the staff were fantastically friendly and helpful.

Review 64:The English breakfast was served tepid. The choice of bread for the continental breakfast was too limited (only toast).

Review 65:Large room with coffe and tea making facilities.

Review 66:To be even more perfect, the hotel could have a better bar area.

Review 67:Great location ! The staff were friendly and always helpful. Our rooms were comfortable and very clean. Breakfast was wonderful! We had a fabulous time!

Review 68:Given a top floor room which was quite stuffy at times.

Review 69:Great value for money and breakfast was great (included in price). Very pleasant and helpful staff would definitely go again.

Review 70:The hotel was located within walking distance of the town centre. The staff were all most helpful and friendly. The room was a good size, quiet and comfortable. Awesome breakfasts.

Review 71:Good location.great breakfast. All round good value.Marie and her staff are wonderful nothing is too much trouble.Maries lovely friendly dog adds to the homeliness of the hotel

Review 72:Extremely friendly staff, very helpful and very clean surroundings. Slept well and so did granddaughters one of five tears and the other 5 months, overall excellent.

Review 73:Nothing really. The location isn't Jersey's prettiest - it's on the outskirts of town - but if you're not so fussed about that it's fine. Parking is difficult too.

Review 74:It was the cheapest hotel room on the island when I booked. No problems at all.

Review 75:asked for gluten free breakfast but this was not provided. Hotel room was located at the front of the building which was very noisy.

Review 76:Bed was very comfortable, although made up as a double and I asked for a twin.

Review 77:Bed sheets were not changed (stayed a week). Shower head mouldy and soap dish corroded. Cold Beans for breakfast one day, raw eggs the next. Other than that breakfast basic but ok. Bowls, cups etc not very clean in Breakfast room.

Review 78:Comfy Beds and nice bed linen. Good Service with a smile from Helpful staff.

Review 79:I wouldn't have classed our room (room 1) as a 'garden view'

Review 80:Excellent location, made full use of the free bike hire, breakfast was superb and the fact that snacks and drinks were available 24/7 at your leisure was a lovely touch.

Review 81:Would have been nicer to check out a bit later

Review 82:V.comfy king size bed! Fabulous. Good nights sleep, probably due to comfort of mattress and quiet location. Loved the "hotel dog"; he was so cute! and friendly

Review 83:Breakfast not good, the continental food was fine, ie cold meats cereals , but hot food needs more attention, no cooking sausages the night or hours before, scrambled eggs are an art. Not complaining but just fyi.

Review 84:Staff / bed/ cleanliness.

Review 85:The road is noisy especially when dustman come at 6am every other day. The lounge bar was shut for redecoration. We had a couple of instances of flying ants in the room but he staff dealt with them very quickly and effectively.

Review 86:Good location, Very Helpful Staff and great Breakfasts

Review 87:Ideally situated within a 5 - 10 min walk of the main centre & harbour. It clean and friendly, the staff can't do enough for you. Its a home away from home.

Review 88:Water pressure in the shower was a bit low but such a small issue unless you're a shower aficionado.

Review 89:Very friendly staff, breakfast was lovely and loved the balcony overlooking the city.

Review 90:most comfortable hotel bed ever. superclean. very quiet.quality room furniture. ample breakfast.friendly hosts. good value.close to town centre although in quiet suburb.under rated

Review 91:No facilities to sit outside. Very small lift Very limited parking. Jersey parking charges for everyone who is unable to park outside the hotel.

Review 92:Clean basic accommodation. Hair dryers ,tea and coffee facilities in the rooms + iron and ironing board on each floor Good choice at breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful. Advanced booking provided excellent value for money

Review 93:We had to buy bleach to try and remove toilet stains. Eggs were cold every morning. It did not spoil our stay.

Review 94:Very helpful staff. Room offers everything you need. Breakfast adequate. Casual informal vibe. We felt very comfortable and relaxed and would return to this hotel again.

Review 95:Parking was advertised with no need to book. I sent a special request to say parking was a must but when we arrived there wasn't any and have been refused our money back

Review 96:We loved the location, close to St Helier and the price was amazing. It was lovely to find a centrally located hotel at that price which also included breakfast. Nothing to fault.

Review 97:I parked my car on the forecourt but in the morning there was a note on it saying it was for residents only! Suggest staff check on arrival if you have a car.

Review 98:I was fine but a wee bit of a hill to walk up to the Hotel if you have a walking problem.

Review 99:Had one of my best sleeps the beds were great. A good breakfast start the day with a good choice available if not then it was not too much trouble by the staff to prepare your breakfast request.

Review 100:No area to sit outside and relax although advertise patio ,lounge closed due to decoration not notified of this before arrival breakfast although there was plenty of choice 5 out of 7 mornings was served less than room temperature had to ask for it to be re heated. This issue really needs to be addressed as could cause health issues.

Review 101:Staff very pleasant

Review 102:Everything was perfect! Being from America I would have loved to either had a small fridge in my room or an ice machine handy -- just to keep soda and water bottles cold -- but that's my only suggestion.

Review 103:Friendly staff, clean comfortable rooms, and great location! Fantastic value and great breakfasts!

Review 104:Position could be better but then that would mean much greater price .

Review 105:I have stayed in top class 5* hotels but value for money wise this takes some beating espec prices in Jersey . I have taken it as decorating being done finished

Review 106:the room, the people working there, the fact that in a stay of 3 days the room had been cleaned and also that the staff really kind answering questions about the Island

Review 107:Very basic, though clean. Poached egg was served chilled from the fridge, astonishing. Residents lounge and balcony closed for redecoration - as a lone female traveller most inconvenient as I had nowhere to go and relax and this fact was not told when I booked.patio, again no seating at ALL.

Review 108:No facilities, expected a bar as per website but under renovation, really missed not having a fridge under these circumstances.

Review 109:Lovely breakfast and friendly staff

Review 110:Overall the food was good but the bacon seemed to have been hangingaround for a while before served web site never mentioned the hotel wasundergoing refurberation - so alot of hoteel access was denied.

Review 111:Room was large with a balcony and was spacious and clean

Review 112:I would advise anyone looking for a quiet stay, to request a room at the back of the hotel (traffic noise at the front, can start rather early).

Review 113:Staff that are more than willing to go the extra mile. An excellent breakfast to start your day.

Review 114:TV didn't work and telephone in room didn't work to call reception to report problem.

Review 115:If you're looking for comfy room with good breakfast for very reasonable price then this is the place.

Review 116:We had no bad experience of the hotel at all.

Review 117:Mountview Hotel is situated just a short walk from the centre of town so it was easy for us to explore while we were there. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly and even let us leave our bags with them after we'd checked-out so that we could enjoy our last day without having to carry them. Our room was large and had an extra single bed and was extremely clean and equipped with everything we needed. The breakfast's we had were lovely and made even more enjoyable by the friendly staff.

Review 118:Reception area requires upgrading and unable to use the facilities of the Lounge Bar as this was closed during our week long stay.

Review 119:Large clean comfortable en-suit room with plenty of storage space.

Review 120:the breakfast were a bit hit and miss, plenty of it but served cold most of the time

Review 121:the rooms were lovely and very comfortable, and the staff were very nice

Review 122:Perhaps more paper info on wi fi , location of lounges and bar . Helpful when a nervous lone traveller .

Review 123:The room was light and airy , comfortable with plenty of storage . Breakfast amazing . Ideal base near to town and sea .

Review 124:Friendly staff, clean rooms with large comfortable bed and a large bath/shower/toilet. Excellent breakfast. Located close enough to the centre for convenience but far enough away to be quiet at night. Free on site parking available, this was not the case at all hotels

Review 125:I couldn't get the TV to work but as it was late I didn't bother to ask the staff and there were no instructions to tell you how to use it. There was no switch for the wall lights and one of the wall lights had the bulb removed

Review 126:Cleanliness, massive breakfast, cheerful staff, own toilet shower and wash basin and tea and coffee making facilities in room

Review 127:The ladies who run this place seemed downright thrilled to have me there, taking care to make sure that I was comfortable and taken care of for my one day on the island. They held on to my luggage after check out and booked me on a terrific bus tour before showing me exactly how to get to the airport. It was a spacious and comfortable room, too.

Review 128:The only problem is the breakfast and check out times. Breakfast finishing at 9.30 is stupid. We're on holiday for a rest and don't want to have to set an alarm for breakfast

Review 129:Decor and fixtures were a little dated, but added character really!!

Review 130:We were warmly welcomed during our whole stay, plenty of bedding supplied for our 5month old and a giant (2 twins together) bed for us! Our breakfast was extensive and tasty and the location was walking distance to some brilliant tenerfest restaurants.

Review 131:Shower fitting was loose and although adequate temperature, not very powerful.

Review 132:Pleasant and friendly staff..... including hotel dog. Clean, quiet and comfortable room. 15 min walk into centre of town. Full english kept me going until tea time
