Reviews for The White Swan
Review 1:Wasnt bad for me but could be for others if light sleeper the live bands on saturday may keep you awake.
Review 2:The room was spacious and clean. Entertainment in pub.
Review 3:The staff were really pleasant and helpful and the breakfast delicious. Our room was fantastic, although as it was on the front, there was some traffic noise which might deter some people.
Review 4:Friendly staff , terrific cooked breakfast and a great live band on Saturday night....would recommend staying here as it is handy to Lincoln, Boston and Grimsby.
Review 5:The bar area was a little tired and the music tended to migrate into the room. Room 5 small double could benefit from two smaller bedside tables instead of one large sited on one side of the bed.
Review 6:Room was comfortable, breakfast plentiful and filling. Parking was easy and the railway station but a short walk away.
Review 7:Great place to stay, nice clean room with a modern bathroom.Excellent breakfast made to order and friendly staff, perfect place to stay if going to the races as I did.
Review 8:All the staff were very friendly. The breakfast was tasty and the room was warm and comfortable. The live music is very loud, not everyone`s cup of tea but not a problem for us. A very enjoyable stay.
Review 9:would be good if they provided evening meals
Review 10:good location, comfortable, modern & and clean rooms. staff very friendly, reasonable prices, good breakfast. safe parking
Review 11:As located on main village street would have benefitted from Double glazing, but road noise not too bad in the night.
Review 12:Great clean room with modern bathroom, tea and coffee, large flatscreen tv, good heating, and very nice breakfast, secure free parking, staff very friendly and helpful. Would stay again.
Review 13:when we booked this pub/b&b the reviews said not to be put off by the look of the outside because the staff are very friendly and welcoming we found that to be true and from the moment we walked in there was a' hello we'll be with you in a minute' as they were busy. then shown to our room which was small but clean and a lovely new bathroom with a full length shower cubicle, all rooms upstairs recently been done out. talking to the staff they said the downstairs will be done early next year. great breakfast in the morning full cooked of choice or a continental. would stay there again overnight but theres not much in the town to do. a great little bistro along the road serves lovely food and staff are nice.
Review 14:The ONLY downside was single glazing on a busy main road.
Review 15:The staff were really friendly and helpful. The bedroom was big enough with a good sized modern shower room. Breakfast was very tasty and plenty of it .We would stay again.
Review 16:Ordered a Thai messeuse but none available in this establishment. A gentleman requires a good rubdown after 55 miles cycling.
Review 17:Great staff, nice shower. Locals proved to be most entertaining. Good bike storage facilities.
Review 18:Street noise at 2am ish when local pub turned out (not White Swan's fault) Shower was adequate
Review 19:Staff really friendly & helpful & can't do enough to make sure you have a good stay
Review 20:when we walked in the pub I wasn't expecting much....(a bit spit and sawdust) however a lovely pint of bitter....room was fabulous, comfy bed and lovely bathroom...breakfast lovely too and you could pick what you wanted...would definitely recommend
Review 21:The actual pub was a little tired looking but clean. In need of some refurbishment.
Review 22:The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was spotlessly clean we had room No.6(very Small but we managed in it for one night). Breakfast was delicious.
Review 23:A nice welcome on arrival, a lively busy place which included a live band in the evening of my stay. Despite the noise from the live music during my stay which I was aware of I would stay again as well located to my trip to Cadwell Park & the Breakfast was excellent
Review 24:Downstairs pub area due for refurbishment so a little tired, but clean nonetheless.
Review 25:Lovely friendly staff and spotless bedroom. Breakfast cooked just as ordered.
Review 26:The bed was possibly the most uncomfortable that we have spent a night on for many years! It gave as much support as a sliced white loaf- consequently not much sleep. Also, there was an overpowering smell of plug in air fresheners-yuk!
Review 27:the staff were lovely- helpful and efficient. The breakfast was amazing value
Review 28:Don,t stay on a Wednesday night without you like motorbikes as there is a local rally/meet up and a constant roar of engines throughout the evening
Review 29:A nicely appointed room , good breakfast which represented excellent value for morning
Review 30:the only slight downside was the bar area needs a revamp it looked a bit tired
Review 31:bedrooms really nice and clean and staff where lovely and very helpful and a nice full english breakfast
Review 32:If you like your sleep best not to go on a live music night...does get loud in the rooms ...but finished at 11 pm ..
Review 33:Friendly,helpful staff.. very comfortable room right in the town so lots to do ....Great live music and stopped at a reasonable hour
Review 34:We were accommodated in the King room and were kept awake by the live music in the pub downstairs. This was compounded by the patrons smoking outside our window, talking and shouting.
Review 35:The staff were friendly and keen to help.
Review 36:The only thing I would make sure that other travelers consider, which is clearly stated on their booking site is that it is an active pub, and if you want peace and quiet, you should go somewhere else. I really enjoyed my stay there.
Review 37:Wasn't made aware at time of booking that a live band would be playing on the evening. Kept awake till @ 01:00 with music playing so loud that it was vibrating the bedroom windows!
Review 38:Lovely breakfast, very friendly cheerful staff. Bath & shower in room
Review 39:Very noisy during the week-end because of the music in the pub downstairs, so loud that the bedroom floor and walls were vibrating until very late at night. The windows would be better double glazed although it would not help with the noise of the pub.. Unpleasant air freshener smell in the corridor much too strong
Review 40:Very friendly and helpful staff who are very welcoming. Traditional pub atmosphere. Small clean room looked recently refurbished. Large bathroom and good shower
Review 41:Friendly, efficient staff, who always found time to talk and offer advice about the area. Lovely, traditional inn feel. Other guests obviously enjoying the experience as much as we did.
Review 42:Wednesday night is Bike Night. I learnt the next morning. After a night where motorbikes race up and down the street outside all night. Hundreds of them, stopping at about 10 at night. Didn't bother me - in fact I discovered my iPhone filters the noise out - so while I was phoning my wife from the street, I was deafened by the bikes, and she could hear me clear as anything. But if you hate bikes, or loud noise, avoid Wednesday nights in Market Rasen. Also some very "local" locals in the pub downstairs. They very reluctantly parted to let me through to the rooms upstairs. If you want a recreation of The Wicker Man, come to Market Rasen.
Review 43:Great big breakfast, good free car park, wifi and all facilities work fine.
Review 44:Rooms could do with double glazing as wooden windows are scruffy and a let down and also let road noise in. Pub could do with a spruce up but as is is homely.
Review 45:The staff are fantastic laid back, helpful and great fun just like being at home. A good nights entertainment on Saturday night although a bit loud for a small place. Breakfast was brilliant.
Review 46:the only thing we did,nt like was coming home and back to work
Review 47:there was no presure on you like some places you just did your own thing, group and a singer on over the weekend both acts were good and the locals very friendly.would stay here again at a blink of an eye
Review 48:I feel the manager was rude, as we left early on the first morning we didn't have breakfast. We woke the next morning to find a hand written letter under the door ensuring we went to pay for our room. (Off course this is something you do when you check out!)
Review 49:We stayed here due to visiting local venue for an event, very suitable. Even loud music didn't make a difference to our sleep.
Review 50:Didnt manage to work out the heating.thats all .
Review 51:The rooms were very nice and big and the staff were very friendly and accomadating the breakfast was lovely
Review 52:Don't be fooled by the exterior and the pub yes it's in need of TLC and the owners are in with it.
Review 53:Rooms were lovely and clean and comfortable, huge bathrooms and just over a mile from racecourse. Staff were very welcoming and breakfast was great !
Review 54:The three female staff could not do enough for you in that they were friendly and made you feel very welcome The breakfast was very nice and the options were great.
Review 55:No bad experience but a small amount of road noise.
Review 56:The staff were so helpful and friendly. Recommendations were provided re local eateries. Breakfast was freshly cooked with good quality ingredients.
Review 57:Nothing not to like.
Review 58:Very freindly staff, spotless room, good pub atmosphere in a great location. To top off a fantastic weekend even won £400 at the races.
Review 59:This was a very strange experience, when we parked in the car park you could see the pub looked very run down and there was very loud music coming from an upstairs room. Once in the pub the lady who greeted us was very nice, took us up to the room which was ok, but being on the road side there is a lot of road noise. Breakfast was odd, we had to choose what we wanted the night before, I went for continental option, didn't even get toast, just a burnt croissant and tea cake. Again lady who did breakfast was very pleasant but it was all very odd!!! There was an overwhelmingly strong air freshener plugged in outside our room which I had to turn off! Nobody on the premises overnight which was rather unsettling, glad on this occasion I wasn't alone like I normally am!
Review 60:Friendly people but that's it!!
Review 61:The bedroom window and bathroom window were both open when I arrived at 8pm, making the room a little chilly. This warmed up pretty quickly and it hasn't put me off staying again.
Review 62:Staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. The room was comfortable and clean.
Review 63:Nothing
Review 64:This is a lovely pub with rooms, stayed two nights in two different rooms one was a king room which was a free upgrade as a mistake by Booking.com,both rooms were excellent, wall mounted large flat screen TV's, good en suite facilities, tea/coffee and biscuits. Free WiFi in rooms, great staff all very friendly, excellent breakfast serverd with a smile, ample parking with locked gates at night. Would definitely recommend when in Market Rasen.
Review 65:My room had a view to the main road so there was a lot of noise especially during rush hour. This is something I should expect that however the problem was that the window of my room was faulty and it couldn't shut properly.
Review 66:Everything was perfect.
Review 67:the location was perfect for my wife and myself. the rooms were spotless. the atmosphere in the bar in the evening was great. the breakfast was superb. the staff, i cannot fault them. there was nothing that was too much trouble for them.
Review 68:The staff were excellent and couldn't do enough. As there was no evening meal available in the pub, the staff ordered and even went to collect take-away from a local shop. Not only that, they even supplied cutlery and plates for it to be eaten with!!
Review 69:The hotel bar was a bit disappointing for our purposes, lacked atmosphere and needs updating
Review 70:Hotel room very good, clean, nice shower, comfortable bed, however some road noise. Breakfast good
Review 71:Nothing I can think of
Review 72:Excellent service from staff Rooms clean and comfortable Great entertainment from the live band Well cooked hearty breakfast Everything you could ask for from a pub b & b Our first visit and will return
Review 73:My daughter and I stayed at the White Swan for one night. The rooms were very nice and clean. For breakfast, the staff took care that my daughter (who is vegan) had fresh fruit and soya milk; overall, everyone was very welcoming and friendly.
Review 74:Everything was excellent this is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. Would always stay here every time we go to Market Rasen. Staff down to earth Meals superb Rooms excellent Couldn't wish for better
Review 75:the pub was lovely but could do with a makeover {-)
Review 76:breakfast friendliness of all staff location the B&B area of the pub is nicely appointed and quiet with excellent on suite facilities.
Review 77:There are bands every weekend which is great if you want to listen to them, if you don't, they don't stop until midnight.
Review 78:The staff were so lovely and would do anything for us. The room was small but cosy with a nice bathroom. Breakfast was ordered the previous night and ready for us when we came down in the morning.
Review 79:Traffic noise from main street.
Review 80:Lovely clean and comfortable bed .Excellent en-suite. Breakfast cooked to order and of very good quality.Staff very cheerful and friendly.
Review 81:The fact I had too arrive late & leave early.
Review 82:Superb breakfast, served early to suit my schedule. My 4th visit and the king room is the best. The pub is very relaxed and a relaxed place to end your day.
Review 83:Customers should be aware it can be noisy on Saturday evening which is music night and when we were there it did go on until after midnight. Street noise can also be a problem as on busy road and no double glazing. I would return but if you want a quiet night I suggest you avoid Saturday.
Review 84:Staff were fantastic and breakfast was well cooked and good quality. Fab bathroom and friendly locals who made us feel at home. Tracy is a joy and made our holiday!!
Review 85:Vibrant friendly staff made welcome straight away the outside and pub area could do with a bit of tlc but you could tell the rooms had been recently done out to a high spec
Review 86:Really friendly, welcoming staff, comfortable room with large ensuite, good WiFi and a large tasty breakfast in the morning. Live music was, for me, a bonus. Excellent value for a one night stay.
Review 87:Traffic noise was an issue through the night for some of my party, but having spoken to staff they are aware that windows need upgrading are going to battens to this.
Review 88:Very friendly staff, lovely clean rooms with great bathrooms. Friendly atmosphere in bar, with very reasonable prices, Breakfast was great too, would happily stay again.
Review 89:food Staff were friendly room and wash area fantastic the experiance over all was fantastic, the Staff were more than Helpfull, the food was fantastic i did try to take the chef away with me but could not fit her in my suit case a great shame she was a great cook would go back again just for B/Fast
Review 90:The race course was within walking distance of hotel. Great staff. We were aware of the live bands on a sat night. It soon calmed down as the night went on. Perfect stay. Thank you to the White Swan would stay again.
Review 91:Stayed on a Saturday night and there was a band playing in the pub which we knew about therefore noise was expected and wasn't a nuisance but just be aware if you are wanting a quieter stay somewhere
Review 92:Good location (within walking distance of the Racecourse and all the town amenities) Friendly landlady who made sure we had everything we needed
Review 93:The security light outside the room windows that remained intermittent all night.
Review 94:The staff The food, The room, clean and well maintainted Comfy bed The beer The location Nice beer garden Good sized car park
Review 95:Was in room 6, noise from main road all night, difficult to sleep. They are talking of doing up the bar and at the same time putting in double glazing which would be great. That is the only thing.
Review 96:Lovely rooms, comfy bed. Very clean. Great location for racecourse. Staff always helpful, car park plenty of room. Great big breakfast.
Review 97:My room was right over the high street, very loud street noise, especially if you need the window open as no A/C. The speakers in the bar are right under the ceiling, the piped music is loud and didn't go off till 11.40 Sunday night. Really intrusive having that bass under your bed!!
Review 98:Staff were lovely Food was excellent. Beers awesome. Band awesome. Customers welcoming. Room was very very good.
Review 99:We are a bit too old for Saturday night heavy metal. Sure when downstairs is refurbished it will be great.
Review 100:Tracey is a gem. Our bedroom was very clean and bathroom fantastic.
Review 101:Little car parking but there was a band on & parking available down the road. Located on a busy main road so quite noisy with road traffic.
Review 102:Room was good with fantastic bathroom. Good choice of breakfast menu and food cooked to order. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 103:No double glazing, as you are next to the main road and a railway track that has freight trains during the night, it would benefit from double or triple glazing. Booked with booking.com for a family/twin room as travelling with my son, only rooms available are doubles!
Review 104:Room 3, Good size bathroom which was newly fitted out with large shower, no bath but very clean. Packed breakfast/lunch for early departures. Breakfast is from 8am Saturday /Sunday, we needed to be away Sunday by 8am, staff offered to come in early to enable us to have breakfast at 7:30 exceptional service. No evening food available, the Red Lion Italian Restaurant 5 mins down the road is highly recommended..
Review 105:Nothing to dislike
Review 106:Location ideal for races Bedroom very clean and well decorated Staff very good particularly Tracy Excellent breakfast All very good value for the Money
Review 107:Lovey friendly staff and a spotless bedroom and bathroom.Very free and easy you can come and go as you please and felt that we were welcome and valued. This is a very lively Pub/Hotel and seems that there is always something going on.The live band on Saturday made a good night great but don,t expect to go to bed to early.
Review 108:We had no complaints about our stay.
Review 109:Located in the centre of town within easy walking distance of all facilities and eateries as the White Swan does not do evening food..Comfortable room and although the bar seemed noisy this did not reach our room and we had a really good nights sleep. The staff were all friendly and helpful with a splendid breakfast to send us on our way.
