Reviews for Sychnant Pass Country House
Review 1:the accommodation was poor, the bed was hard and lumpy, we had the suite which didn't have a shower but the water pressure was very very poor. The suite was not particularly clean, and the room took a day and half to warm up which was unbelievable considering we was there in the winter.
Review 2:the location is very good and the owner is very friendly and helpful.
Review 3:Very Comfortable. Excellent facilities, inc swimming pool, gym. Cosy lounge area. Excellent food, breakfast and evening meal. Very friendly and hospitable staff. Great location, easy access to conyw town and perfect for country walks.
Review 4:Lack of adequate shower facilities in en suite, rectified when we moved to another room. Some elements of breakfast..moldy toast, barely cooked bacon. Smell of chlorine from pool near bedroom areas. Initial attitude of owner when we complained about no hot water in shower of womens' changing room. Condition of pool...eg rusty handrail, rust flaking into pool. Pool not particularly clean.
Review 5:For us the best thing was the lovely location.
Review 6:The location was easy to find. Hugh, the owner couldn't have been more attentive and showed us around the house and up to our room which was lovely! The staff were friendly and the food was of a very high standard. Would stay here again happily!
Review 7:Beautiful house and grounds in gorgeous countryside of north Wales, just outside Conwy. Comfortable beds and delicious full breakfasts, with the option of having wonderful dinners, too.
Review 8:We liked the friendliness! Very pet friendly an the upgrade for our room as it was our 35th wedding anniversary was well appreciated fab place wod like to stay again.
Review 9:There wasn't anything I could fault
Review 10:Very welcoming Hugh and the staff are lovely can't do enough for you find this hotel beautiful relaxing and the views are wonderful
Review 11:The food was overpriced and the chef was experimenting with flavours that unfortunately don't go together... I wish we'd had fish and chips in the town! The bed was 2 single mattresses pushed together and was so hard that it gave us back-ache. Also the bath took half an hour to fill.
Review 12:The location was amazing - nice and rural while still only a 10 minute drive from Conwy town.
Review 13:Showers for pool use were cold. Hugh apologised and promised to look into this.
Review 14:Beautiful location and views. Friendly, attentative staff. Pool on site.
Review 15:Shower in pool change needed attention ( considerable hair on tiles and in drain)
Review 16:Pool and sun terrace such treat. Openly accommodating male owner made every effort to ensure a pleasant stay and kept checking things ok. Long area so comfortable to relax in.
Review 17:Condition of the property is run down and not the 5* it claims to be. I would give it a 3* rating. W.ifi is only available in the lounge, the property needs more staff and the care taker is a very moody person. No clear instructions regarding change of bedsheets and fresh towels. We stayed 5 nights and the sheets were not changed and no apologies nor reduction in our bill and even charged us daily for a small bottle of water. Not recommended and certainly not a 5*
Review 18:Nothing outstanding
Review 19:Host and all staff provided and old school top quality customer service. Remember my name, nothing I asked for was too much hassle. Everything about the place was just lovely and i was made to feel very welcome as though i'd been there many times before (This was my first time).
Review 20:The mattresses are just a little too hard and the menu could vary more.
Review 21:The location, the hotel itself, the friendly and efficient staff and the very warm welcome from our hosts. It is an idyllic spot and there is no question that everything is done to ensure a pleasant and memorable holiday.
Review 22:Nothing bad at all!!!
Review 23:We stayed for one night on 27th June, perfect! Stayed in room 12 with private terrace which was great sun trap. Sauna and swimming pool lovely, meals and room excellent. Hugh definitely made our stay, the perfect host! We will definitely return in the future. Perfect getaway.
Review 24:I have stayed in many hotels all over Britain over the last 10 years and must say this is one of my favourite, staff were lovely, thank you Hugh for a lovely stay only wish it was longer.
Review 25:We liked it all. Some guests didn't get a mobile signal but we did we will return.
Review 26:Relaxing and comfortable our suite was great we had a separate decked area for outdoor sitting and the spa facilities were great. Restaurant was lovely staff fab. Really enjoyed our stay.
Review 27:The owner Hugh is a very welcoming host. The views are great at this time of the year and the location a bit away from town makes it a very pleasant stay. Our room was comfy and the spa helps to relax after the travel.
Review 28:We stayed a few miles from the main road but felt like we were in another world. Hugh is a very welcoming host and we felt at home immediately. The staff are very friendly and provided a great service. The food was lovely and the highlight of our stay.
Review 29:We had a 'suite'. No standing shower - tried running a bath but it took 10 mins to get around an inch of water, which was inspection was covered with dust and hairs. The corridor had an overpowering smell of chlorine from the pool below, which looked murky. Dinner was ok, food reasonable but the decor has a lot to be desired! We arrived in a rush and missed the prices - £42 a head for food only is far far far too much for this restaurant. It's sad to see it but this hotel is on its last legs - the lovely welcome was making up the fact from the start. The rooms are more than tired, and the facilities dated in all respects. I visit family near here regularly and will never ever stay again. Awful and expensive with it.
Review 30:a wonderful and friendly reception, the lounge is pleasant.
Review 31:A country house but no lounge fire lit in March! Red wine was cold. Towel rail not on even after letting the owner know about it twice.
Review 32:The location was very good.
Review 33:I don't have any dislike about this Hotel! But I would like the bathroom with shower cubicle. Restaurant staffs(waitress) perhaps need little bit more interact with guest.
Review 34:Location is FAB! Food was good !
Review 35:A shower in the room would have been preferred. Booked a double room but it was two singles together with a big dip in the middle making it too uncomfortable to snuggle up. Would have liked a croissant at breakfast. Positives far outweigh the negatives, would come back again
Review 36:Beautiful scenic location. Lovely quiet leaisure facilities. Very friendly attentive owner. Relaxing and comfy lounge area. Gorgeous breakfast.
Review 37:If being picky the double bed was 2 singles pushed together, however very comfy
Review 38:We were made to feel so welcome by the owner, staff were so helpful and friendly, facilities lovely and clean the food was amazing just an overall lovely experience
Review 39:Only thing was that we couldn't stay a few days longer!!!
Review 40:We felt well looked after and we were very comfortable. The staff were very attentive and we look forward to visiting again. Wonderful walking country, would appeal to keen ramblers.
Review 41:Would have preferred a fixed shower but what we had was fine and the water was piping hot.
Review 42:A wonderfully relaxing stay in a lovely home with excellent amenities, marvellous chef and attentive host. Thank you for a chilled weekend - just what we needed.
Review 43:Friendly welcome, log fire, spacious rooms with fabulous view (sunrise was spectacular!), use of gym, relaxing swim and sauna, delicious dinner and breakfast. Five minutes' drive from Conwy, in beautiful countryside. Very enjoyable stay.
Review 44:No heating in the room, it was frozen. Dirty bath room with cobwebs in the fan and over the bed! Breakfast, eggs not cooked and omelette over cooked. Gym needed cleaning with mould on the carpets, pool was the same due to no air flow so walls were covered in mould and damp dripping of the ceiling. Charged us for a full bottle of wine when we only had a glass! There is more but suggest you save your money!
Review 45:Location
Review 46:Waiting staff had limited personality. Wifi was rubbish and non existant smoking facilities.
Review 47:Location was great, wonderful rooms , sauna very enjoyable and great breakfast. Our host/owner was very attentitive, friendly, welcoming and was fitting with the surroundings.
Review 48:Bathroom towel rail didn't work and this was the only source of heating in the bathroom. Would have liked a better shower.
Review 49:The food was very good. Owner's very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Staff worked very hard to make your stay as good as possible.
Review 50:Very polite, and helpful host.Brilliant food with a good selection of wine and real ale.Good facilities such as hot tub pool and Sauna.Very comfortable bed.
Review 51:Can't think of anything
Review 52:Very nicely decorated rooms Cosy and homely Warm welcome Very good welsh breakfast Food a very high standard Would definitely recommend it To friends and family
Review 53:Lack of showers in bathrooms
Review 54:The rooms were spacious and comfortable, the service personal and attentive. Great food.A relaxing break with very high standards, just as described
Review 55:i booked double bedroom but they made double bed by join 2 twin beds which was uncomfortable for couple. Because when you double bedroom then you expect a double bed.
Review 56:Location was very good and quit.
Review 57:Look, I could carp about the same negative things other reviewers have noted--they're mostly true--but it would be mean in the extreme, considering the lovely time we had.
Review 58:This is the only hotel I have ever stayed at where I truly felt like a welcomed guest rather than a customer. The host is charming, and the whole ambience makes you want to stay in the lounge and chat to the other guests. It is a lovely warm and cosy atmosphere. I could have stayed for weeks. And the dog liked it too!
Review 59:A little tired but that adds to the character
Review 60:Very friendly, great breakfast, nothing was too much trouble. Very comfortable 100% happy with my stay and wished I could have been there longer.
Review 61:Smoke alarm in one of the rooms kept going off because it was too close to the bathroom steam! Dining room was a tad disappointing compared to other rooms Non-existent wifi in bedrooms
Review 62:Quirky yet stylish hotel Comfortable lounges Spacious suites Excellent host & service Beautiful location & grounds Quality bedding & towels Gorgeous pool & hot tub
Review 63:Our room didnt have a fridge like stated on website and we weren't offered another fridge or use of one, or even change of room as hotel wasn't fully occupied.
Review 64:Very welcoming host Hugh, very happy to help.
Review 65:Room tired, could be cleaner, uncomfortable bed, no shower (only hand held shower attachment on bath).
Review 66:Very peaceful location, friendly staff, excellent breakfast, tea & coffee making facilities with complimentary biscuits and bottled water.
Review 67:A small point but prefer a proper shower rather than a shower attachment to the bath taps
Review 68:Stayed overnight with evening meal. Good pool with gym facilities. Dinner excellent and host very welcoming. Very well located being in the countryside but very close to Conwy and LLandudno. Looking forward to a return trip.
Review 69:Signage to the Hotel and it was not lit up at night, when we returned to the Hotel after going for something to eat you had to get out and open the gate which was not lit up and made walking on a cattle grid a tad dangerous in the dark.
Review 70:We were allowed to check in early which was a bonus , shown around the Hotel and to our room.Made very welcome and tea was given complimentary when we arrived very pleasant stay
Review 71:The location. The Owner and Staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The location was sublime. The food was outstanding throughout our stay. Facilities were very good.
Review 72:Compared to other hotels we have visited, we were not that impressed with the table service. Although our waitress was thoroughly efficient and very polite, we felt that she lacked the personal 'touch' which Hugh clearly demonstrated. We would have preferred someone who took an interest in the meal and out thoughts!!
Review 73:Wonderful house and location. Loved the accommodation, especially as we had a suite and a veranda. Hugh was friendly, but not too overwhelming - made us feel welcomed as a guest in his home. The food was very good - locally sourced ingredients and the best lamb we have ever tasted
Review 74:Check out time would be better if a little later
Review 75:Lovely hotel in a fantastic peaceful location with Very helpful and friendly owner and staff. We had a lovely afternoon in the hot tub and swimming pool followed by a fantastic evening meal and excellent food. Breakfast was fantastic also with plenty of options.
Review 76:Although licensed there was'nt a bar. The room we stayed in there was'nt a dressing table to sit at to apply make up and dry hair.

Review 86:Friendly Staff, hospitable owner, Hugh. Lovely setting in the Snowdonia National Park.
