Reviews for Pomme d'Or Hotel

Review 1:Just the breakfast the toast was under the heaters on the main cooked breakfast area and wasn't fresh , I prefer toast being ordered at the table and fresh , apart from that everything else was good

Review 2:The friendless of the staff and the comfort of the room

Review 3:Greeting after a long boat journey very poor we asked for food at 945pm arrival and were told only room service available so we asked for a menu in reception so we could get an order in as we wanted salad - she told us the menus were in our room we got into our room at 10pm and rang an order through and were told the kitchen closed at 10 pm so no salads were available only the 10pm menu was valid which was all curries

Review 4:Location and Price

Review 5:We were at the hotel for Christmas lunch and overnight stay. There however was a lack of Christmas atmosphere especially in the evening whilst sitting in the hotel bar. Wouldn't stay there for Christmas again.

Review 6:The lunch for Christmas Day was excellent. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff very helpful.

Review 7:Had a lovely stay in the pomme d'or. Staff were really friendly and had a great time speaking to the barman Paulo. Will definitely be returning soon!

Review 8:We had a harbour view room. Traffic and pedestrian noise could have been an issue but it was late December and volumes were low so we were not bothered much.

Review 9:Central, convenient, comfortable and clean

Review 10:Wish we could have stayed longer!

Review 11:We liked everything about this hotel, comfort, staff, facilities - nothing was too much trouble. Although we only stayed for one night, it was an amazing break. Staff were very good and being able to leave our luggage safely at the hotel before our ferry in the evening was a great help. Thank you so much - I'm sure we will return.

Review 12:Very noisy, we were disturbed by street noise and corridor noise. The room was stuffy but the noise meant we couldn't open the window. The bed and pillows were uncomfortably soft with poor quality bedding. Terrible two nights sleep.

Review 13:The location was good. The price was ok. Reception staff ands some waiting/bar staff were helpful. Complimentary mineral water was welcome. Excellent wi-fi.

Review 14:Would prefer not to be in room next to lift. Not a problem as hotel quiet but would have been a nuisance if lift in constant use.

Review 15:Staff very polite and helpful. Hotel clean and well maintained. Good breakfast. Excellent location.

Review 16:We have stayed at the Pomme Dor' before and have always had great service, the staff are really friendly and the food is excellent. The hotel itself is beautiful with a lot of history.

Review 17:room a bit cold, room heating doesn't work very well

Review 18:excellent location for shops/town centre & bus to/from airport staff exceptionally friendly & helpful

Review 19:Can't think of any think except there were a lot of steps for a cane using person like me. However a man who looked like he might be a manager helped me w/ my luggage up a few steps.

Review 20:The staff from the desk to the dining room to the ones cleaning the room were unfailingly courteous , warm, welcoming, friendly and helpful. Never stayed at s hotel with a staff like this. Most chain hotels have staffs that are a bit distant and will provide adequate service but not a step further.

Review 21:No disabled parking which was a problem,a shame you have not got control of the immediate parking out front.

Review 22:Loved the location, the history, and superb breakfast.Staff very accommodating and attentive, particularly Tony at breakfast.

Review 23:The small room had too much furniture for a short stay. Nowhere to put suitcases except on floor - complete unpacking not always needed. A furniture redesign with a bit more thought seems necessary for small rooms.

Review 24:Breakfast and comfortable bed

Review 25:Cooked breakfast only consisted of the usual buffet (rubbery scrambled eggs etc) There were no options for the usual extras such as eggs benedict or kedgeree.

Review 26:Breakfast room too busy, long queues for tables, ended up going to cafes instead. Carvery type of meals in restaurant, could do with more choice and not self service.

Review 27:Only a couple of issues. The lifts, although very quiet, didn't show the floor levels on the monitors (monitors faulty?) and it was disconcerting as you didn't know where you were and couldn't tell if you were moving up or down in the lift. They were also very slow. Other issue was some children in the breakfast room one morning, which were running riot, noisy and climbing over all the furniture. Parents had no control, but the staff should have said something as quite a few guests were upset. Interestingly, the mother was overheard saying she wrote reviews on hotels (hmmmm......), hence no action taken on sorting the children out I suspect!

Review 28:Superb location - everything available nearby. Breakfast was excellent, great choice available. Room was clean and a good size. Although we didn't use the main restaurant, the Bistro bar was great for drinks and snacks.

Review 29:The toast at breakfast wasn't very fresh, having been left to stand under the arc lights.

Review 30:The location was ideal for a couple without a car. The housekeeping was very good every day of our stay.

Review 31:Bar closes at 11pm and for a hotel these days i would consider this to be too early. Breakfast should be served until 11am on a Sunday also and not 10am.

Review 32:Breakfast was excellent and beds were very comfy

Review 33:Hot Carvery dish cold one night. Kitchen had run out. Café Bar tried to pass of whipped cream for clotted cream in Cream Tea

Review 34:Nice room, but had to pay upgrade for it.

Review 35:Nowhere to store any drinks. A small fridge or mini bar would make it perfect.

Review 36:Perfect location, wonderful breakfast and very comfortable, quiet bedrooms.

Review 37:Beautiful traditional hotel, spacious, spotless room overlooking Liberation Square and Marina. Well placed to explore the Island. Helpful and efficient staff, excellent food in restaurant. Would recommend.

Review 38:Wifi poor

Review 39:Great location in the centre of St Helier opposite liberation square and 2 minute walk to the bus station . Staff friendly ,good choice of continental and hot breakfast , can't comment on the restaurant due to eating out .

Review 40:Rooms dreadfull for the prices charged.very dated and noisy from street below.supposed to be executive rooms, well my daughters was like a rabbit hutch.coulnt even walk around the bed ! Rip off.

Review 41:Birthday cake

Review 42:we were upgraded to a suite because it was my husbands birthday. it was great all the staff were very pleasant and polite the hotel was spot less food lovely what more could you ask for.

Review 43:Disappointed with restaurant carvery as had a meal booked for 8 pm which isn't late and only had the choice of one meat (gammon) beef had run out.and restaurant wasn't that busy,I heard another couple complain and they didn't pay for their meal just their wine.

Review 44:Beautiful hotel.

Review 45:Having the one toilet facility on the ground level is not good when it is out of order

Review 46:The location of the hotel could not be better and the staff are really friendly

Review 47:Air conditioning did not work so had to have "quadruple glazed" windows as open as poss rendering room very noisy from street. Wi-FI did not work in room, but worked fine in corridor outside! Highly inconvenient.

Review 48:Location. Cooked breakfast good but continental would have been disappointing.

Review 49:The bathroom was warn. The wifi had poor signal in the room, only in the bathroom was it acceptable. Room was dated, a bit small and at the back off hotel. Very expensive for what it was. Not 4* in our eyes. Parking was an issue.

Review 50:Staff were lovely. Modern lobby and very active. Bar staff were very pleasant. Restaurant and cafe were fantastic.

Review 51:We stayed here for a short break after we got married, the staff were amazing and so friendly. On hearing of our reason for our stay we received chocolates and a card from the hotel. Everyone made us feel very special and we really enjoyed our stay.

Review 52:The shower and shower curtain were not what you would expect from a hotel of this standard. The wifi in our room didn't work, we could only get it in the bathroom.

Review 53:Location perfect for getting around. The staff were happy to store our hired cycles overnight .

Review 54:Nothing at all, except for perhaps the wi -fi which was not the best signal all around the hotel. But then I was not there on business so an internet connection was not that important!

Review 55:Superb Location - central for all of St. Helier. Executive room worth that little bit extra. ALL STAFF were so friendly and helpful, particularly reception (who helped arrange a champagne breakfast in bed for my wife's birthday as a surprise) and all the restaurant staff. Enjoyed every minute of our stay and would love to return again. They made us feel so welcome

Review 56:I filtered on booking.com for Hotels with an outdoor pool specifically. This one is marked as having an outdoor pool. In reality the pool is in a sister hotel that is a 15 or 20 min walk away. At reception they said about a 5 minute walk, which was wildly optimistic- especially in flip flops! And it was a public leisure center pool at that. Honesty would have been better, especially as the location of this hotel is great anyway.

Review 57:Aircon was great and the rooms were spotless. The bed was very comfortable. Hotel location was excellent.

Review 58:No negatives apart from the, view in our room, we looked at a roof of a building next door but the room was clean, comfortable and relaxing. So not really a complaint.

Review 59:The hotel is a great location for the main town, St Helier. Easy access to buses that go to all the main attractions, beaches etc the hotel cafe/bar is pleasant and lovely views, friendly staff throughout from bar staff, reception to housekeeping staff who always greeted us with a smile and a good morning/evening. Will definitely stay here again.

Review 60:The food was awful. Ordered room services and could not eat my burger .. Hard and dry. Also not fitness facilities ..a Surprise for a business hotel

Review 61:Location and staff

Review 62:Couple of problems with room which were resolved once reported (broken tap and broken safe). Would probableuy request different room as we were opposite a pub which is not great on a Saturday night but would definately stay in hotel again

Review 63:Bed was comfortable, tea and coffee in room , bath and shower

Review 64:There was no usable wi-Fi in our room (113) and the air con was noisy, the safe didn't work and there was no mineral water or glasses other than tooth mugs. Not good enough for a four star hotel

Review 65:Friendly & courteous service from the staff.

Review 66:We had no negative experiences.

Review 67:We have stayed at this hotel on several occasions and this time was no different. Staff extremely pleasant. All meals were of a very high quality both in the "main" restaurant and in the "bar" restaurant. We like everything about this hotel and would not dream of staying anywhere else in Jersey.

Review 68:The bed wasn't great but we are used to a super king size and this wasn't big enough! It was quite noisy on Friday and Saturday nights when the younger generation were on their way home past the hotel.

Review 69:The location. It couldn't have been more convenient for getting around Jersey using the bus service. Service was good. The Friday sea food buffet is fantastic.

Review 70:There is no car parking at the hotel but a car park near by. Parking scratch tickets have to be bought prior to parking one used per hour with all the correct parts scratched off and displayed in order in the car from 8am. Max 4 used. The tickets can be put on the car the night before.

Review 71:Central location the best in St Helier. The staff are most helpful. The breakfasts and evening meals are brilliant. Cenrtral location for the bus station.

Review 72:Wish they had an A la carte restaurant as well as serve your- self even though they have a wonderful cafe we still missed A la carte. Internet very slow.

Review 73:Felt welcome as soon as we walked in , nothing was to much trouble, we will return. Fantastic location and views

Review 74:Booking in and checking out procedures were a bit lengthy. We didn't mind but the people queuing behind us loked irritated.

Review 75:All very relaxed and the staff were all very friendly and efficient.

Review 76:Executive rooms had NO drawer space. Didn't want to live out of a suitcase for a week so upgraded our room. Shouldn't have to do that for a few drawers.

Review 77:Enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was quality.

Review 78:Breakfast is overpriced if not included with the room.

Review 79:A very central hotel with clean comfortable rooms and a polite and helpful staff. You can walk to the bus station, ferry terminal, and commercial district from the property.

Review 80:This is not a complaint, but as we picked to stay on the 1st floor, couple of evenings we were disturbed by noises outside our window, though that did not last long.

Review 81:We loved the location of the hotel, twhich makes every excursions easy and effortless. The hotel staffs are attentive, knowledgable and caring. The room is clean and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our 'Friday seafood buffet'; its value for money, with abundant choices, and the food is delicious. Jersey has so much to offer, it is one of the cleanest place we have ever visited, the people are friendly and polite, the food is wonderful and the sceneries are breathtaking!!

Review 82:The only thing I'd like to see is a shower screen rather than a curtain - they always cling !! I room fridge would be a bonus too.

Review 83:I stay here when I travel for business but still choose to stay here for our holiday too. It is clean, of high quality and the food - especially breakfast is excellent. Superbly situated and very comfortable.

Review 84:Difficult to control temperature of shower which went from cold to boiling with nothing in between.Did not like the shower curtain which clung to my body.

Review 85:Very good location and close to bus station and centre

Review 86:Smallish bathroom but still excellent value for money.

Review 87:Great food. The staff were very helpful. The room was comfortable and a good size. It was a good price for the quality.

Review 88:I booked a Executive Double Room which was small for one person. Couldn't imagine what it would be like having 2 adults in this type of room.

Review 89:Good Service

Review 90:Nothing

Review 91:If this is your first or 100th trip to Jersey, this is the hotel to stay at. It is in a fantastic location within St Hellier, close to all my he shopping and marina complex, and the bus station that allows you access throughout the island. The staff are first class, as is the food and all the hotels facilities.

Review 92:Service in the café/bar area was not just as friendly. Service was OK

Review 93:Receptionist - Michele - Outstanding manners and assistance. Overall I will bring my employees back to this hotel.

Review 94:The lift was a little slow!

Review 95:We had a superior room with a glorious view of the Marina for our short break at the Pomme d'Or. The room was stunning in every way most especially the linen and towels. The service throughout was outstanding and the food of the highest quality especially the Seafood Buffet, which was a delight to see and especially to indulge in. We are seasoned travellers and rarely have out levels of satisfaction been quite so high.

Review 96:Noise from the Saturday night pub goers.. Not the Hotels fault but ask for a room on the inner part of the hotel.

Review 97:Friday night Seafood Buffet. Excellent choice and excellent value for money.

Review 98:Pleased we upgraded,as rooms small.

Review 99:Very central location, bar staff helpful, very clean. 1 min from bus station and major museum. Excellent bus tour operator (Jon) in Liberation Square opposite who had a wealth of information and advice for tourists.

Review 100:Most positive reviews of the hotel are based on the "fantastic Friday fish buffet". It's not actually about the hotel, its facilities and service - you don't need to stay here to book dinner at the restaurant. The hotel is "tired", dated and not worth the money it charges, with the standard having nothing to do with the one of a 4-star hotel. It needs refurbishing as least, being covered in dust with floor carpets and tapestry really shabby (cleaners do their job well, but there's little help). Double beds claimed as king-sized are actually medium-sized even for one sleeper. The worst thing here are minium 3 sleepless weekend nights guarantied if you stay in a room facing the street. Crowds of boozers get wilder and wilder until early morning just behind your windows. And don't fancy switching on the air-confitioner if you shut the windows - awfully noisy. You'll be no luckier if your room faces the rear. We swapped the room, and for worse.Cause rear ones face... the kitchen roof making the patio (you can easily guess what I mean). The attitude is another thing that is sure to prevent us from coming back. The young lady at the reception, replying to our complain about sleepless nights and request to swap the room, sounded quite offensive saying "Sorry for our hotel being centrely located". We might not be good at English humor but we are able to recognise unacceptable irony. She treated us as if we, adult professionals, were unexperienced nobodies from the midst of nowhere. Even if we were... Also, old-fashioned fittings in the bathroom in our second room tested our IQ, though staying in a hotel is not about doing quizes. I failed completely (perhaps being too used to modern gudgets). But for my husband, I hadn't been able to turn on the shower. Sorry. Breakfast are sufficient but monotonous.

Review 101:The location close to the bus terminal and main attractions. It's also a minus, I mean the wild neighbourhood.

Review 102:The wifi was very slow when hotel was full over the weekend, but improved on Monday, when less full.

Review 103:The comfort of the room, plus the various options of eating at the hotel. Helpful staff

Review 104:As a well travelled couple I don't think we've experienced more helpful or friendly hotel staff. Lovely restaurant with views of the marina. Would highly recommend The Friday night seafood buffet. Looking forward to returning for another stay.

Review 105:Nothing - every thing was good

Review 106:The breakfast was excellent, hot , fresh and plenty of variety. The Friday evening sea food buffet is a must- you wont be disappointed ! excellent value for money great location very central

Review 107:The hotel is very convenient for the bus station and close to the town centre. Our room was spacious comfortable and well furnished. Breakfast buffet was excellent but expensive if not included in your room rate.

Review 108:Reception staff very friendly but lacks local knowledge. They need a percentage of local channel Island people on the team.

Review 109:Resturant and waiting staff very good. Management available at all times and prepared to get involved with any problem.

Review 110:Nothing not to like

Review 111:Our stay was amazing and could not fult anything the hotel, food and staff friendliness were all if a high stranded and would defently stay there again

Review 112:The free wifi system did not extend to my room. The heating system takes a bit of getting used to

Review 113:The Friday night fish buffet is not to be missed - superb. The staff helpfulness was very impressive

Review 114:The small, dark, cold room I was allocated although the hotel seemed to have plenty of free rooms. When I asked to be moved I was given a larger lighter room ( thank you) but the heating system was not well explained (taking up a lot of my precious time to sort this out) and when it did work, needed to be on at full blast (noisy airco system) almost continuously in order to keep the room at a reasonable temperature. This system and the bathroom fittings seemed to be to be quite outdated and the whole hotel gave the impression of being 'tired'. Also, are they used to women who come over to Jersey for a few days for work? Could they perhaps make an effort to cater for this group or at least treat them as valued customers?

Review 115:The cleaning lady who tried to help me switch on the heating system.

Review 116:The only negative thing was we were in room 507 and we could here the air con unit during the night and was up at 4am making tea as we couldn't sleep. The unit must have been outside somewhere!!! Everything in our room was off !!!

Review 117:the only bad bit is the WIFI is a bit up and down otherwise all ok

Review 118:The Friday night seafood buffet is to die for the restaurant manger is superb the watering staff brilliant will be going back Sunday lunch is a bit good as well

Review 119:The breakfast price @ £13.50...thats all

Review 120:The staff were so helpful and could not do enough for me and my team. The room was very clean and comfortable with free wifi which i did not need to ask for

Review 121:No criticism - only very minor annoyance was noise from water pipes in the next room at 6.15 Sunday morning.

Review 122:Seafood buffet superb value and excellent and breakfasts very good

Review 123:excellent location.you can take a bus from the airport and it drops you off almost at the front door, also very near the main shopping areas in the town centre. excellent food and friendly staff and comfortable rooms make for a relaxing stay. this is a long established hotel with an interesting history and they certainly know how to run a hotel and maintain standards without spoiling the character of the place.

Review 124:Our first room on the top floor was very cold uncomfortable and obviously not checked before our arrival. First night was not good. Staff were quick to address the problem the following day and relocated us to a more comfortable room.

Review 125:Friendly helpful staff. Well furnished and clean. We'll placed for shops and public services. Overall, a nice hotel.

Review 126:In the past I have always stayed at the Radisson so thought I'd try somewhere different. This hotel provided me with a shower that provided very little water from the handset, Luke warm water from the shower despite the thermostat being at MAX! Shower head & bathroom fixtures and fittings are dated, awful view, about time for and upgrade! Don't think I'll be back here next time I stay in Jersey.

Review 127:Checking out!

Review 128:Nothing to dislike.

Review 129:The Location, the welcome and the general 'homeliness' of the hotel. Very comfortable room with similar well appointed bathroom, with separate bath and shower cubicle. Also liked the simple availability of a dedicated PC and Printer for the online check-in and printing of airline boarding passes. This homely hotel quietly and unhurriedly ticks all the boxes. Thoroughly recommended.

Review 130:Left a lead and plug, in room called the hotel and they said they would get back to me and they did not call, so not happy about that.

Review 131:Very nice room, Geat places to eat, Housekeeping were great,

Review 132:Having to check out !

Review 133:just about everything, couldnt fault anything, wonderfull place idealy situated and lovely food, staff were just top notch a big thank you to all of them for making our stay over the new year just perfect.

Review 134:I thought the shower in our bathroom was very poor and old fashioned and well overdue a refit. It had very little water pressure.

Review 135:The fact that it was so close to the bus station was a huge bonus . The bath in our room was easy and quick to fill all the time with plenty of hot water.

Review 136:Weather!!!!!!! Seriously, will return in the Spring and hope to see more of the island.

Review 137:Location, helpfulness of staff and facilities. Bus station nearby wutg facilities to explore the island.

Review 138:Buffet breakfast is very good - although one negative remark - on an island that is famous for it's diary products I expect fresh Jersey joghurt and not Müller Milch products! Maybe you should think about that.

Review 139:The Hotel is very centrally located - in St Helier everything is in walking distance.

The Fine Print

Extra beds and cribs are available in some rooms upon request.
