Reviews for Hotel Pelops

Review 1:The hostess was very nice and welcoming. The location is perfect. It is situated in the quiet area, 2 minutes from the center of the town. We had a balcony with an orange tree.

Review 2:Very welcoming hotel with quality furnishings. A beautiful wooden antique style king sized bed, kettle, fridge and balcony. There is also a communal lounge and flower arrangements, as well as historical books to peruse. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast, boiled eggs, ham, cheese, bread as well as cereal and yogurt. Very convenient to the museums and site.

Review 3:Nothing to complain about - on the contrary!!!

Review 4:Wonderful, professional run hotel. Breakfast was so generous it made us smile. Biggest double bed I have ever slept in. Staff was helpful and very friendly. The Olympia area and museum was really close by

Review 5:Shower was a bit small.

Review 6:The hote was a short drive to the Ancient Olympia. The hotel room was very large and comfortable. Breakfast was simply, but good.

Review 7:We loved tis hotel. Hospitable staff and basic but fully sufficient and comfortable accommodations. It's exactly what you need for exploring Olympia.

Review 8:The air conditioner was broken in our room

Review 9:All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Got nice dining recommendations. Great location, quiet, & comfortable. You have to eat their breakfast. Amazing homemade fig jam! Ask about the Olympic torches on the wall. Great history.

Review 10:lack of good coffee for breakfast -would have preferred Greek or espresso.

Review 11:Most pleasant hosts; breakfast reasonable; perfect location comfortable beds; excellent internet connection.

Review 12:Olympia seemed like a ghost town when we visited--it's certainly used to hosting many more tourists--not sure what the experience would have been like (e.g. regarding onstreet parking) if the town was crowded.

Review 13:A very welcoming hotel, ideally located for visiting Olympia. Clean, nice, comfortable room, wonderful breakfast.

Review 14:What's not to like about such a nice hotel?

Review 15:Family owned but professionally run hotel. Excellent location in the centre of Olympia village but off street therefore quiet. Spacious rooms and bathrooms, helpful staff, large lobby with books useful to tourists (also large coffee table art books).

Review 16:The hotel is just perfect with large room and bathroom. We have reserved 2 rooms one with 3 beds for our kids and one for us. The hotel is at 2' walk distance from the main street of Olympia and 10' from the archeological site. There is an agreement with the Best Western hotel where we enjoyed the swimming pool before having a wonderfull lunch.

Review 17:the owner was very friendly and gave us some tips on great restaurants in Olympia and also a museum we didn't know about (Archimedes Museum). Everything was within easy walking distance, including the archaeological site.

Review 18:The mattress on the king sized bed had big dips on each side which made it very uncomfortable for sleeping. The curtain in the bathroom didn't stretch across the window, and the shower in our second room was hard to get in and out of.

Review 19:Excellent location-close to bus stop and one street back from main street. Rooms were spacious and very clean. The lift was enormous compared to others we had used around Greece. Breakfast was adequate and included the usual cereal, fruit, juice, yoghurt and toast. Owners were extremely helpful and friendly. They gave lots of good suggestions for things to see and do, and places to eat.

Review 20:No view (empty primary school!)

Review 21:Location, off the main road and walking distance from Ancient Olympia, restaurants, etc. Excellent advice and help from owners for things to do off the beaten track.

Review 22:Old telly with poor reception. A more modern shower would help too.

Review 23:Fantastic staff with lots of advice, contacts and good ideas for things to do off the beaten track.

Review 24:The triple room is a bit small. The airco wasn't up to grips. The double room was fine.

Review 25:The owners are very helpful and helped us with the time tables for the bus to Dimtsana. We could use the pool at Best Western Hotel. Which was heavenly after walking around Olympia at C 40+ temperatures

Review 26:We had a fabulous stay, although it was only for one night. The owners were very welcoming and helpful, sending us in the right direction to see the sites of the area and recommending great places to eat. The room was spacious and clean. We found the mini fridge & tea and coffee facilities useful. The bathroom had a fantastic shower and provided soap etc. The wifi worked exceptionally well and there is a lift so thankfully you don't have to carry your bags up the stairs. We had to leave early the next morning, so can't comment on breakfast. I would stay here again if I ever come back to Olympia!

Review 27:Mattress was too soft for my taste.

Review 28:Location is excellent - very central and on a quiet street. Staff is very professional and friendly. Rooms are clean. Breakfast quite good. Wi-fi worked perfectly - not that typical in other places we stayed in Greece.

Review 29:Not really bad, just typical. The shower was very tiny - could hardly turn around, but we experienced inadequate showers in most places.

Review 30:Easy to walk to ancient Olympia Great breakfast!

Review 31:Nice hotel located in Olympia. Owner was very friendly and suggested to us how to see the ancient site and what hours it was open. He also suggested a wonderful place for dinner.

Review 32:Nothing.

Review 33:Extremely helpful and knowledgeable owner (former local athlete and Olympic torch carrier) who pointed us to the best restaurants, best driving routes and made every effort to ensure we got the most from our stay. Peaceful location near the centre of town and a short and scenic walk from Ancient Olympia. Easy parking outside the hotel. Good breakfast with real orange juice. A good shower at last!

Review 34:the hotel is very well situated in respect to the goal of our trip: the archeological site of Olympia. The staff was helpfull in their suggestions where to have dinner. The room was very well equipped: a watercooker and cups for the coffee. A large bathroom with a powerfull shower.

Review 35:La chambre donnait directement sur la rue un peu bruyante. L'hôtel n'étant pas plein, on aurait apprécié une meilleure prestation de la part du proprio

Review 36:Chambre confortable et propre avec un balcon

Review 37:We did not have any hot water at night for our showers. We called thereception and were told 'no hot water tonight in the morning'.Also, our room did not have a/c that worked.

Review 38:The gentleman that has the hotel is very nice and informative.

Review 39:The warm welcome when we arrived. The helpful advice given to us concerning the archeological site. The understanding nature of the manager and his wife with regards leaving suitcases at the hotel.

Review 40:Only minor issue was being asked to pay cash rather than credit card.

Review 41:Everything was just right and no bother. Facilities good. Big room, decent shower, balcony, good Wi-Fi, tips on local restaurants, good breakfast. Parking outside door. Walking distance to ancient Olympia site.

Review 42:There was nothing not to like.

Review 43:Large comfortable room. Nice view. Very friendly staff. Walking distance to museum and Ancient Olympia. Excellent family run restaurants nearby - just look for where locals are eating.

Review 44:You park on the street but everybody does in Olympia!

Review 45:The hotel is very comfortable, well located and staff are very friendly. Excellent fore visit of Olympia and short stay

Review 46:The quality of light in the room was very weak....couldn't read anything at all in the evening. TV didn't function....no reception. Poor internet connection on second floor.

Review 47:Location, quiet, clean room, helpful staff and pleasant breakfast.

Review 48:The wi-fi was inadequate in the rooms. No air conditioning despite the fact it was over 80 degrees F outside. There was no AC because it was turned off for the season. The breakfast is over priced at 16€ per person and a better breakfast can be found in the town at many of the restaurants for less money. The television volume control is locked at a low volume so you must sit next to the TV to hear it. In addition, the management does not think this a problem as they did about the AC.

Review 49:Clean large rooms, nice bathrooms, good lift, and quiet location.

Review 50:Nothing. The wi-fi signal was much stronger on the landing outside our room (comfy sofa supplied!). Parking is on-street rather than hotel's own, but it was visible from our room and was safe enough.

Review 51:The room was spacious and comfortable, with a balcony sheltered enough that it could be used during the rain that we brought with us to Olympia. It was within comfortable walking distance of the archaeological site and museums. Breakfast was good. The co-owner marked on a map the locations of the few restaurants in town that she considered to be of an acceptable standard - we ate at 2 of them and enjoyed both meals.

Review 52:Our room was spacious, with a double balcony. The hoteliers had thought of everything, tea and coffee making in the room, plenty of shelf space in a generous sized bathroom (which had a bath and a shower). A large double bed with a comfy mattress. The location was quiet but within easy access of the archaeological sites, museums and restaurants. Advice and a map made by the hotel was extremely helpful. Couldn't fault the hotel in any way. Ideal for visiting Olympia!

Review 53:- Staff were not friendly - It is hard to find, especially at night. Its location could be better signalled - The hotel does not have a private parking for its customers. We managed to find a place to park on the street in front of the hotel, but I wonder how easy it would have been if we had come in August instead of September.

Review 54:- Comfortable room - Not bad for one night (actually, you will probably not stay longer in Olympia) - Very nice views from the balcony

Review 55:Very good hotel with very friendly family running the business. We've made some beautiful trips thanks to tips from the family. The room was very spacious. First night we had a problem with the airconditioning, but the owners solved it directly. The other nights, we slept great. Ancient Olympia is on walking distance (10 mins or less). The hotel is very clean and has coffee and tea facilities in the room.

Review 56:All stated in previous comment (see breakfast)

Review 57:Located in old olympia town center just a walking distance from archeological site (10 mins relaxed walking)....owner and his son very friendly... Breakfast very simple is the only point that should be improved (what about fresh orange juice or hand made pie, fresh local yoghurt as in many other places in greece?)... Anyway i recommend it

Review 58:Very well kept hotel. Very spacious and clean room. Owner is very halpful and gave us every sort of advice about thing to see, time schedule of museums and restaurants. He sent us for dinner at the restaurant of hotel Europa, a little outside Olympia on a hill, which was a wonderful choice. Splendid breakfast with home made marmalade.

Review 59:None.

Review 60:Very friendly staff, made us feel at home. The room was very comfortable, pretty and clean. It had a beautiful balcony with great view. Wonderful price.I would return if back in Olympia.

Review 61:The church belfry across the street took some getting used to, when it stridently pealed away at canonical hours of worship. A small inconvenience to us tourists---but very much part of town life.

Review 62:Nice to be a little set apart from the melee of the commercial hub---while still an easy walk to the archaeological features. Very ample & appealing breakfast spread, recommended. Unusually comfortable and helpful staff.

Review 63:We liked everything!
