Reviews for Hotel Europa Olympia

Review 1:Nothing bad at all.

Review 2:Normally I stay away from chain hotels, but this place was wonderful. It is set on a hill overlooking Olympia, so as long as you don't mind driving down to dinner, it's perfect. We drove over past most of the other hotels in Olympia, and none compared to this.

Review 3:It would have been even better if there was a change room near the pool, but not that would impact the joy of the stay.

Review 4:Location was perfect for visiting nearby sites of Olympia. The rooms are spotlessly clean with enough space (not cramped), the only missing thing is a kettle to heat the water or make tea/coffee. The staff was professional right from check-in to check-out, restaurant and staff was also excellent, quality of food and ambience (outside) was out of the world, a truly magnificent experience. Easy access to internet via computers available in the reception area. Breakfast was excellent with more than enough options for vegetarians.

Review 5:Did not like the staff who disappearred as I started to unload my car and kept out sight while my wife was busy with the toddler. Parking. Distance from the town centre.

Review 6:I was given a very large room, nice view a quiet. The hotel is really clean, and the breakfast generous.

Review 7:nothing

Review 8:Beautiful hotel with a tavern in a garden. I've been looking at this hotel for years and it lives up to the high ranking it receives. Excellent breakfast and dinners.

Review 9:We didn't like not having an iron in the room. The hotel staff was friendly in letting us iron a few shirting down the hall.

Review 10:My wife and I only stayed one night but very happy in our short time at the hotel and wish we could have stayed longer. We really enjoyed the great breakfast selection and relaxing with a few drinks by the pool. The room was really clean and quiet. We would highly recommend.

Review 11:One evening a Thunderstorm forced us into the main restaurant in the hotel where there was a distinctly average buffet on offer

Review 12:Extremely good hotel in fantastic location overlooking valley with friendly helpful staff and excellent restaurant in the gardens. Great value for money

Review 13:It is absolutely not a problem but there are some new ideas - it would be great if there was a small playground for children in the garden may be not far from the swimming pool or next to the taverna and a couple of toys in the breakfast area so that parents could eat and not rush after their children trying to take a glass or some food. It would make the vacation even more pleasant for parents. Wi-Fi doesn't switch fast if you change the zone (e.g. leave the hotel and go to the taverna area)

Review 14:Everything is perfect - breakfast, swimming pool, taverna. The location is good because there is nothing to do in the village except the museum. Sellers in all tourist shops try to catch you in the street and make you buy something. The only place to relax is the hotel itself. The staff was very-very helpful. Two Russian speaking women helped us with every question we had.

Review 15:I cannot think of a single thing. Out of the 6 hotels we stayed in while in Greece (including the 5 star Sophie airport hotel ) it was by far the nicest.

Review 16:Everything was fabulous. The outdoor dining experience was magical, the food imaginative, creative and mostly locally sourced. The staff in all departments were very friendly and accommodating. The room was large, tastefully furnished and had a wonderful view from the balcony of the hills, valley and the hotel pool.

Review 17:A hefty walk back from the main street where you'll find the shopping and dining district, but definitely worth it

Review 18:The staff, service, food, grounds, facilities, room decor and cleanliness, and everything else was absolutely amazing. I can't say enough about this wonderful property.

Review 19:Would have liked an electric jug and tea making facilities.

Review 20:Wonderful location with a view over Olympia. Excellent restaurant. The balcony also added to the nice room.

Review 21:A real sincere warmth from the staff. Something really rare. Helpful, smiling, always there. Fantastic swimming pool and restaurant area. 2 minutes from the Archeological site.

Review 22:Awesome location on top of the hill and you can enjoy wonderful sunsets from the restaurant. Very friendly personal that took care of all our needs. Good Food and a nice Pool

Review 23:We only had 2 nights there!!

Review 24:One of the best hotels we've ever stayed in. Big room, large well appointed bathroom, massive bed, balcony with great views over miles of countryside. Super pool and excellent garden restaurant. Walkable to Ancient Olympia but steep climb back. Easier to drive to plenty of parking places or walk down and taxi back. Probably OK for the young and/or fit. Staff could not be nicer or more helpful.

Review 25:Missed fresh orange juice, service could be better at the restaurant (we did understand it was busy).

Review 26:Ambience at the restaurant, great location, staff.

Review 27:rooms themselves are just OK. our nonsmoking room had faint smell of smoke.

Review 28:everything. great breakfast (spend 2.5 weeks traveling around greece. this was the best breakfast we had) terrific value big pool amazing on site restaurant with spectacular views clean rooms friendly helpful staff they arranged for a private guide for us location perfect for visiting Ancient Olympia

Review 29:What was there to not like?

Review 30:It was one of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed in. The restaurant at the hotel was some of the best food in Greece and the setting amazing.

Review 31:If there is something to be improved ? perhaps the customers.

Review 32:Perfect good taste in all domains (rooms and the taverna). Staff very nice and not too obsequious.

Review 33:very comfortable hotel perfectly located for exploring nearby Olympia. The service was very friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms had lovely bathrooms with marble floors and had been done to a high standard. The beds were very comfortable and there was a lovely seating area at a lower level leading on to a balcony. The dinner was served outside under the olive trees overlooking the valley and was the perfect way to end the day. The hotel has a nice airy feel, the swimming pool area was very comfortable and clean.

Review 34:Wish we had stayed an extra night to enjoy the facilities of the hotel a little more. The pool area is fantastic, the staff were wonderful, very helpful and welcoming, breakfast was a fabulous spread of anything you could ask for including espresso coffee at no extra charge. Wifi worked perfectly, hotel is in a good location, only a short drive to ancient site or is within walking distance for those who don't mind walking back up the hill. The location away from the main street and the rest of the hotels is nicer as it feels less touristy and more peaceful.

Review 35:The hotel was so welcoming with very friendly helpful staff. Lovely quiet position up in the hills with a short walk down to Olympia heritage site. Fantastic swimming pool to cool off at end of day. The Terrace Restaurant was absolutely splendid - beautiful setting and wonderful food to match. Would highly recommend this very comfortable well appointed Hotel

Review 36:Comfortable and beautiful hotel. Very friendly people and owner. Nice Taverna with excellent food and great view. Relaxing pool area. Recommend to stay more than one night and not only for a visit of Ancient Olympia. There is much more to see in this area.

Review 37:the WiFi connection could be improved (only worked at the reception for us)

Review 38:the renovated room, the breakfast with tons of fresh products, the restaurant was excellent, the swimming pool is very relaxing, and the view on the mountains

Review 39:We had a wonderful stay. Upon arrival staff met us at our car and welcomed us. The children loved the pool and the outdoor dining under the olive trees was a beautiful way to spend the evening. We highly recommend this hotel.

Review 40:Nothing

Review 41:The staff was extremely friendly, it was run by 2 brothers who truly care about their guests experience, check in was quick, the pool area was great, the dinner was very good and reasonably priced and the view is fantastic.

Review 42:I'm English so would have liked a kettle and mug in the room (but I brought my own - well prepared!) but this is a minor cultural thing, not an experience thing.

Review 43:The staff were AMAZINGLY friendly. The room was huge (for me, a solo traveller), loved the steps down to the balcony (inside the room). The restaurant was great value and the food was excellent (as were the staff). It's easy to get to Olympia (which is really worth the visit) and it just felt like a lovely safe place to be... I really want to go back and hang out a bit longer next time :)

Review 44:This was a lovely hotel, situated on a hilltop, overlooking the ancient ruins of Olympia. The rooms are large, airy and comfortable, the pool large, attractive, well maintained. The staff are professional and friendly and very helpful. Breakfast is amazing, with a large selection of local produce, (greek yogurt to die for!). But the highlight for us is the greek taverna in the grounds of the hotel, serving wonderful food every evening whilst we watched the sun go down over the mountains. If you are visiting Ancient Olympia, there is only one place to stay - here!

Review 45:Best Hotel we stayed in all trip. Only hotel to offer free movie channels. beautiful room. Taverna on site with wonderful food and views. All wait staff extremely friendly.

Review 46:Very nice personnel, little slow service but that was not a big issue. Great hotelroom and magnificant garden where you can eat. Location is very good to visit olympia.

Review 47:Exceptional just renovated rooms, very good location, fabulous breakfast including local specialities, excellent service, very nice pool area with garden surrounding the hotel

Review 48:we only booked one night

Review 49:the taverna with great views andfabulous food. nice spacious rooms and balcony, the fresh fruits and veggies from the venue, service and friendliness.

Review 50:Warm and efficient staff ensured our two-night stay was memorable. The garden taverna is magical as the sun sets; the food and wine are sourced locally and very good. A lovely hotel.

Review 51:Location on the hill close to the historic Olympia made for an easy early start in the morning. Very large pool and surrounds accommodates large numbers of guests. Excellent restaurant set under olive trees - and an excellent spot to watch the setting sun. We appreciated the provision of a kettle and complimentary tea and coffee, which was fairly rare in Greece. Friendly staff on reception, valet, poolside and in the restaurant.

Review 52:The property is beautiful and the outdoor dining experience overlooking a mountainside was breathtaking. We needed a handicapped accessible room and the friendly staff went out of their way to make sure we had the room that best fit our needs.

Review 53:We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Trying the garden restaurant for dinner is a must. Food is excellent , this is where we had our best meal by far while in Greece. Nice pool area and overall a very helpful staff. Excellent value for money. In hindsight, we would have liked to stay a second night.

Review 54:Nothing. Follow road signs to "Hotel Europa" (easier to see than Best Western).

Review 55:The staff members were all very welcoming and attentive. Renovated room was quiet, even with view of the pool. Clean and relaxing tub. Enjoyed the breakfast with homemade marmalades, and the dinner with sunset view.

Review 56:The free wi-fi was very inconsistent. They have wi-fi in numerous areasbut none of them were very good. They need someone to come in and test/re-engineer their system. We had the pw for the different systems but about90% of the time the pw was not recognized.

Review 57:This hotel exceeded our expectations! The room was fantastic w a balconyoverlooking the pool but the outside restaurant was incredible with agreat sunset view and tremendous food. The owner and staff were allprofessional and extremely nice to us. I would come back here just tostay for 3 nights and relax, since I've now seen Ancient Olympia.

Review 58:We were given a warm welcome by Reception. Our room was excellent. Very modern with all facilities available. Dressing gowns were a bonus. Liked the two level room and the balcony. The pool, pool bar and restaurant were lovely and even though the hotel was full it didn't feel that way. The evening meal was very good and the garden setting was delightful. Breakfast was wonderful and we really liked the fact the the owners of the hotel used their own produce and promoted fresh Greek food. The choice at breakfast was extensive . On departure the owners gave us a lovely pot of home made marmalade. Congratulations to the owners for their vision.

Review 59:Maria & Giota orchestrate the experience of dining amid fragrant flowers, olive & fruit trees. I recommend the specialties from the outdoor grill...delicious!!

Review 60:Staff at this hotel went out of their way to provide advice and help to us with any information we needed. Restaurant food and service was wonderful. Would stay there again as although a big hotel service very personal!

Review 61:The room was not a normal room but a suite. So big! A large bank a wonderfull bathroom a swimmingpool and a very big breakfast. Its 1.5 km to the citycenter and also to olympia museum and to the archeological site. The restaurant of the hotel is great!

Review 62:Only one complaint: The free Wifi is pretty much not functional in the room and many other areas.

Review 63:The staff, the facility, the food, the cleanliness, and the value.

Review 64:Breakfast was not quite as "lavish" as all other places we stayed throughout Greece but still very good.

Review 65:The hotel area was pretty and clean. Enjoyed walking around - taking in "views". Had a cocktail by the pool - very relaxing - friendly accommodating staff. Room was clean, comfortable, convenient to all.

Review 66:Had to think hard to find a negative......lovely swimming pool but would be better if the shallow area was bigger.

Review 67:Friendly staff, excellent attention to detail everywhere, amazing breakfast, amazing views, huge very comfortable room. Dinner overlooking valley was so good we returned each evening.

Review 68:No wifi reach in the apartment

Review 69:We liked the garden restaurant very much. Nice view and food. Liked the swimming pool too. The free upgrade to the apartment was nice and we liked its balcony. Super friendly staff.

Review 70:Only complaint is that the bed was not very comfortable.

Review 71:Very friendly staff. Great location and value for price. Very close to sites. Clean room and great breakfast.

Review 72:The only thing we would have liked was a kettle for tea and coffee in the room, which is standard in many hotels and guest houses so is almost an expectation

Review 73:The meal in the garden was the best, closely followed by the swim in the pool, the view, the birds singing, the general level of care and cleanliness

Review 74:we were lucky to be upgraded to the apartment, so the room is so nice. although it is a little away from the main street, but the view of the valley from the room is so beautiful.

Review 75:WiFi is slower and does not work in all areas.

Review 76:Great facilities, clean and well maintained. Extraordinary service. We walked around and every staff person we met was asking us if we are OK or if we are missing something. Great breakfast also.

Review 77:No problem, and no complaints.

Review 78:The staff were excellent, from first arriving and the help of Meni, through breakfast staff and housekeeping. Large pool, large room, super clean. Position at the top of hill overlooking Olympia site. Varied, cooked and continental breakfast. Good wifi. Free parking.

Review 79:The wifi coverage was spotty and slow. The noise between rooms and floors is not well controlled.

Review 80:This is a family run hotel, and it shows in the concern by the staff that your every need be met. The restaurant is superb, and is beautifully designed to absorb a bus load while still feeling intimate for a couple.

Review 81:The children slept in the bedroom sofas and said they were very unconfortable. It doesn't change our assessment of the hotel because we were offered a bigger room with proper beds for all but decided to keep the smaller one.

Review 82:Great choice. Big room with balcony. Very nice staff. Great breakfast. We also had dinner (buffet) at the hotel and really liked it. Very good food in lovely room. I doubt there are better places to stay and eat around. In summer it must be even better. The pool looks very nice and the restaurant has an excellent terrace with view over the village below.

Review 83:No bad experiences

Review 84:Helpful staff - telling us where to park to visit Olympia and giving us a choice of which type of room we could choose to stay in (including a viewing of both). Great restaurant.

Review 85:Clean and stylish rooms on a quiet and charming location. Outstanding breakfast: sweet, salted, italian, american continental, greek and much more! Everything fresh and tasty! Thant's the best way to fill batteries before visiting the archeological site!!! Gentle and careful staff, do not hesitate to ask them for assistance.

Review 86:No complaints.

Review 87:Deserves the 4 stars, and in affordable value. Excellent restaurant for the evening, and breakfast; comfortable room; wifi everywhere. I have no opinion about the pool, as I've travelled out of summer. The location is uphill not far from the town and the archaeological site, walkable (but if you are with elders or kids you'll need a car).

Review 88:Everybody on the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We arrived a little late for breakfast but they laid everything out for us again. (It was outstanding: lots of local produce, including orange juice freshly-squeezed from their own trees.) As one of them said: "we feel like family". They have 2 buildings - we were in the second (slightly newer), but it's only 50m away from the main one, and the room was wonderful: spacious, comfortable, and with a sitting area and couch. Parking was easy, right in front of the hotel.

Review 89:The rooms are not sound proof. Between tour groups of teenagers and babies, I had a hard time falling asleep.

Review 90:The staff were very helpful. Open check out the Front Desk clerk insisted on giving me directions to my next location because GPS's tend not to give the "best roads". I'm glad she did. Within 5 minutes of leaving the hotel my GPS tried to take me off-road. Following her directions I had lovely drive.

Review 91:We had a lovely stay at Best Western Europa during our trip to Olympia. The location is great and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We had some car trouble and the manager had it sorted out for us immediately. Great place to stay! Would definitely recommend it.

Review 92:The staff went out of their way to make sure that we were given the kind of accommodation we needed for our large family, even changing rooms around at the last minute and putting the children and parents in a lovely suite.

Review 93:The staff was nice and helpful. They gave us a free upgrade. The room was clean and quite with a view to the courtyard. Wifi was good. Many selections of breakfast. We tried buffet dinner which was good. The second evening, we ordered from manu, all dishes were tasty. Plenty parking spaces.

Review 94:The archeological site close at 3 pm during the winter. Of course this does not depend on hotel….

Review 95:very nice and clean hotel, with the possibility to have dinner directly there. Large room with sofa, balcony and comfortable bathroom. The staff very kind: they also explained us a better route to Athens. At the and also a present for us: orange marmalade.

Review 96:Nothing.

Review 97:I have never given a hotel 10 on all accounts before, but this one deserves it. Excellent signposting at every junction from the main road. A very friendly greeting with a free upgrade to a large suite and the receptionist taking us quickly to our room with our luggage. No asking for a credit card or deposit at any point, neither when booking nor checking in. The hotel is probably from the 70's or 80's so a bit dated, but everything is well maintained and clean. Decent food and very friendly staff in the restaurant for dinner and for breakfast. Swift checkout with a small jar of local orange marmalade as a give-away, and to top it all: The receptionist asked if we had a car and where we were heading since snow in the mountains during the night had closed some road passes. Consequently we saved many hours of unnecessary driving. This is the way to handle guests!

Review 98:A wee bit expensive, but all things considered I think it's a reasonable value for money.

Review 99:Convenient location (needs car), only a couple of minutes from Ancient Olympia. The hotel offers free parking on it's premises. We found the staff to be very helpful and accomodating. Although they were closing for the winter season in a few days and one might expect a bit of fatigue, on the contrary they all were (from front desk to housekeeping) top notch! The breakfast was plentiful and had a good variety.

Review 100:NA. Perfect.

Review 101:We were a family group of 12. We arrived exhausted 1:30am after a delayed connection. We were ushered to our rooms and told we could check in after a sleep in. All staff were extremely polite and helpful. The premises were modern and clean and the location was fantastic. Breakfast was terrific. All 12 of us give Europa a HUGE thumbs up!!! Absolutely 5 Star

Review 102:Absolutely nothing, everything was perfect, and we are picky people!

Review 103:This hotel deserves five stars but at the same time its staff (a family) treat you like part of their family. We arrived late one evening of October, tired after a long journey through the mountains and in shock after having had a brake malfunction in our rented car. The hotel manager quickly took charge of the situation, asked us for the papers of the car rental and told us to relax and enjoy our stay while he solved our problem, which he did, and the next morning the rental company appeared in the hotel with a replacement car. We could enjoy dinner in their beautiful garden (best seafood risotto in Greece), have a good sleep in their fantastic beds (a rare find in this country), enjoy the view from our balcony, savour their big buffet for breakfast, have enough time to visit both the Olympia archaeological site and the museum, which are 3 mins away from the hotel by car (you can walk there too), and come back to the hotel for more food in their garden because it is so good! We just didn't have time to try their great pool because we had to wait for the replacement car, but we did walk around it, tried the water and wished we could stay there for a week. When we were leaving, the staff gave us directions for the shortest route to our destination and presented us with homemade marmalade. What a nice gesture. So the family that runs this hotel really made our day and we are very grateful. We hope that we can return one day and stay a little longer.

Review 104:Gorgeous location, super clean, staff was so hospitable and attentive. Breakfast features homemade breads, cakes, and jams/preserves. Also recommend the hotel restaurant!

Review 105:Nothing, it was all good.

Review 106:Everything! We went in a slow season. The staff voluntarily upgraded us to a junior suite. The hotel was lovely and the breakfast was good.

Review 107:Peaceful location, exquisite outdoor dining area, taverna and pool, great authentic Greek food, size and quality of rooms, views, accessibility to ancient sites, and the most hospitable, accommodating and friendly staff. Our 3 generations of family agreed it was the perfect place to stay.

Review 108:- Nothing really

Review 109:- Location was very well sign-posted. We were driving from Pyrgos and didn't have any difficulty in finding the place - Staff was great. - Dinner was good. - Breakfast spread was good - The archaeological site is very close by - Wifi was good

Review 110:Feeling like beeing in the olymp: everything is just perfect. But the best is the view over the valley while sitting under the olive trees in the splendid tavern, enjoying one of the fantastic grilled dishes. Thank you!

Review 111:The sight of Olympia is an extremely frequented sight by tourists and even cruise ships. However, staying in this hotel you wouldn't even notice. The hotel is secluded on top of a hill but still a small 5 minute drive down the hill to the site and village. The pool and poolside bar is an excellent feature especially on hot days and the on site restaurant is so delicious and budget-friendly that leaving the hotel for anything but the site and shopping is unnecessary. Our room was huge and included a step down "living room" area with a balcony overlooking the pool and countryside beyond. Internet was fast and easy. Breakfast is massive with a huge variety and several staff members to assist with whatever is needed. After this stay, i may look for Best Westerns in all my travels. If I could rate 15 I would.

Review 112:Wifi was spotty in the apt, pool closed too early for us (8:30), and having to leave after only one night. : (

Review 113:Everything. We booked a triple room and got upgraded to an apt. It was clean, comfortable, and beautiful, comfortable bed. The restaurant setting in the garden with the view amongst olive trees, pepper plants, rose bushes, soft lighting, candles, excellent food, and attentive staff was nothing short of magnificent. Breakfast was excellent, lots of choices, good coffee. The family who owns this place is doing everything RIGHT! If the other hotels we booked on this trip were even half this good we'd have been lucky.

Review 114:Staff, cleanliness, breakfast in fact the whole package at this hotel is first class. If you go to Olympia stay here. There is also a large clean swimming pool.

Review 115:Everything was just wonderful. We had dinner at the hotel's restaurant and the food and service were worth five stars. We won't forget the gardens of the hotel....that's how Eden must have looked like.Recommended without hesitation.

Review 116:Nice room, very nice swimming pool, beautiful restaurant in the garden with fine food (try it!), smiley and kind staff, gorgeous breakfast. What can I say? Perfect.

Review 117:We stayed three nights at the hotel. The staff is excellent, very kind. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Thehotel is a ideal base for visiting the archeological site and also the beautiful valleys in the region. Dining in the garden-restaurant is fantastic!
