Reviews for Pension Askas
Review 1:Great family-run place to stay in Aigiali. Minutes from the beach, the bars and the restaurants although there's really no need to venture further than the Askas taverna which is attached to the hotel. Well-prepared, authentic Greek food. If you're lucky, Marios might strike up his bouzouki for an impromptu gig! They will meet you at Aigiali port or can arrange to transfer you between Aigiali and Katapola for a VERY reasonable price. A good place for chilling on the beach or going for walks in the beautiful surrounding countryside and picturesque villages. Marios, the family and the rest of the staff are so friendly and helpful. Popi in the taverna was great. I'll be going back!
Review 2:The option of fresh milk at breakfast would be good.
Review 3:Lovely location, very attractive gardens and balconies. Great sea views. We enjoyed breakfasts in the attached taverna. The family/staff worked very hard ensuring our comfort. And all for a very competitive price.
Review 4:Wonderful place to stay while on this beautiful island. Friendly staff, great breakfasts, good wifi connection, and clean, basic rooms. They will come to meet you from the ferry even if you arrive late. The place is highly recommended
Review 5:we did not stay long enough to taste all food from the menue ;) outside of town, but no problem with scooter
Review 6:free pickup service from/to ferry, big new room, silent AC, big bathroom and shower (high above average greek standard), very good restaurant, cheap scooter with very flexible return agreement
Review 7:Everything was perfect!
Review 8:I just returned from Amorgos and I only have good memories to share. The location of this family-run pension was very convenient, just a five minute walk from the beach. The breakfast was perfect (don't miss the omelette), the room was very clean and the personnel was amazing - extremely kind, helpful and friendly. I strongly recommend this pension and I would definitely stay again if I visit Amorgos again. Great value for money!
Review 9:After a little "hickup" when trying to get picked up from the port in Katapola, everything went great. The room was lovely, newly refurbished and with huge bougainvilleas outside, attached was also a restaurant. The staff was awesome, even gave us a ride to the port in the early morning... We would stay again here
Review 10:It would have been nice to have swimming pool and breakfast. In the morning after 8.00 it was very noisy.
Review 11:Very nice and clean recently renovated room, staff was very helpful and kind, free transfer to the Katapola port.
Review 12:They serve old, toasted bread for breakfast, and no ham or sth alike. Serve breakfast only til1030 without any obvious reason (breakfast is served in restaurant, which is open anyway).
Review 13:clean rooms, pickup from katapola
Review 14:The family who run the operation are charming. Improvements and renovations (new bathrooms, windows and doors)are welcome but do not spoil the authenticity of the place
Review 15:Rooms are newly renovated so clean and fresh with new bathrooms. Marios was friendly with plenty of tips and a singer as well. a very hospitable family business for the past 35 years. Very glad I did stay with them. Also a nice hiking trail taking about 3 hours that is lovely, enjoyed my stay at Amorous.
Review 16:It's a peaceful, well maintained place with great friendly people who are eager to help. I really have no complaints other than that I wish I could have stayed longer.
Review 17:the staff was really friendly! Due to bad weather, out ferry did only go to Katapola. When we phoned to ask how we could ge to Askas, they told us they already knew and would pick us up for free! We had a fabulous dinner one night and were also driven to the port back when we left. Amorgos is a great island and Askas the best place to stay!
Review 18:Wifi was a bit hit and miss in my room but that is island life for you.
Review 19:I had a beautiful room overlooking the front garden with sea view. The room was very clean as the cleaner came in every day great facilities and close to the beach and Dive centre next door. Although there was no double room left available with sea view I was able to upgrade to triple room and Joanne did include breakfast for me because I paid extra for the room as single occupancy.
Review 20:The staff of this family run pensions are wonderful. Really friendly and helpful. Nice rooms with functional wifi. The rooms were very clean and neat. Good breakfast.
Review 21:The staff, who soon became our friends, made us feel at home from the start. Warmth, familiar, comfortable, professional. You couldn´t ask form more. The taverna has very tasty food and a familiar amosphere. We will be back - for sure.
Review 22:There is a road that runs past the front of the hotel garden and the entrance is a blind corner, so if you have very small children that tend to run around a lot you might want to keep and eye on them.
Review 23:Good location. 5 minute walk to the beach and town center (500 meters) with small children. The rooms where very clean and tidy with AC and reasonable for the price. The staff was friendly and very helpful and provided good information about the local area and sightseeing. We didn't eat at the resturant next to the hotel as we always took an evening walk to the town center and ate there. Wi-Fi worked OK in the room.
Review 24:A wonderful family run hotel on the Greek island of Amorgos. Great restaurant. Short walk to the beach. Lovely people! Will definitely come back!
Review 25:Clean rooms with a luxury bathroom. Very friendly and helpful staff. Each morning we were pampered with a 5 star breakfast.
Review 26:The rooms had been meticulously renovated - could have been further enhanced with more comfortable beds and pillows (too firm)
Review 27:Everything
Review 28:The beds were too hard for us
Review 29:The quiet location and the large clean room with a modern shower.
Review 30:Marios in the reception was helpful in every way. A friendly family business.
Review 31:Cigaret smell in the hotel.
Review 32:Our view from the balcony.
Review 33:Nothing I did not like

Review 41:Thanks to Johanna, Marios, Melana, Demos, Maria and all others for a great vacation in Pension Askas. The rooms were great, the bed was super and everything was clean and fresh every day! You were alway's helpfull. Aegiali is a great little town with the beautifull high and stony mountains around it. I can recommend Pension Askas to everyone.
Review 42:Nothing
Review 43:The excellent position, the gentle and friendly family of the owners, the quality of the breakfast and of the local food in the taverna, the low price, the near sand beach: a beautiful place for a relaxed vacation in the "old traditional Greece". Mario is a fantastic musician, too, and it has been a memorable vacation.
Review 44:We really liked our stay in this nice family pension. The room was facing the lovely garden and the sea and had comfortable beds. Good breakfast and very friendly and service-minded hosts.we warmly recommend this pension.
Review 45:There was no safe in the room. The pension is located slightly out of town. The walk was very short although returning at night it was very dark as there are no street lights and stretches of road with no buildings. I recommend bringing a torch.
Review 46:The pension was clean and our room well equipped. We were picked up from Aegiali port upon arrival, and we had a free transfer to Katapola port for our onward journey. The staff were friendly. The location is good for the beach and town is a short walk away.
Review 47:Of the 7 Greek islands I visited during my trip in Greece this summer my stay on Amorgos at Pension Askas was probably the best. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the room was very nice with a balcony facing the garden and seaside, and the location is great, in a quiet area about a three minutes walk from the beach and the town. The pension's restaurant is very good, and there's a great diving right next door.
Review 48:We stayed here for 4 nights and really enjoyed everything: the staff were very helpful and friendly, the location is the best in Aegiali in my opinion, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. I would defintely return there.
Review 49:no direct path to access to the beach (the beach is not far away, but there are other hotels between pension and the beach, so you have to walk a bit)
Review 50:bathroom very convenient and clean, owners very friendly and helpful, private (small) balcony with sea view, breakfast good and big
Review 51:Breakfast
Review 52:Charming helpful staff, location close to the beach, tavern serving excellent food, transportation to/from port(s), price/quality ratio.
Review 53:Nothing. Everything was great.
Review 54:The very friendly staff that helped us a lot. The hotel is very clean and tidy. We ate at the tavern and the traditional food was great. Nice view from the balcony. There were 3 wifi connections.
Review 55:Family who run askas were friendly and helpful. Accommodation was clean and well positioned, just behind the beach road. It was about 10 minute walk into the village centre. Taverna next to askas was good value decent food. Pick up and return to ferry port was efficient and good value. We enjoyed our stay here.
Review 56:The only weak point for me was the breakfast buffet. I think a better/more varied selection could be provided.
Review 57:Super friendly and helpful staff, always looking to assist with anything. I even got lent a pair of trousers to wear to the monastery as I had no long ones with me. Without the tip and the loan I wouldn't have been able to go inside. A good example of how they are always looking out for guests. The meal in the adjoining restaurant was also very nice.
Review 58:Nothing really....
Review 59:In the first place: Amorgos is such a wonderful island, the atmosphere is amazing, best to describe as bohemian clique hippie trendy alternative... pension Askas is the perfect exponent of this feeling... It is all but an all-in 5* resort but so lovely peacefully and beautful. The staff is extremely friendly and will do anything to make you feel at home. Food at the restaurant is top. Location is 5 minutes walk from a beautiful sandy beach. We loved it and highly recommend this place!!!
Review 60:The staff was very nice and helpful. The rooms were nice, very clean. We even had a little balcony. We enjoyed having breakfast on the rooftop. There was a free mini-bus transfer from the port (Katapola) to Aigeali. There is a restaurant in the hotel with a lot of events going on (for example Greek music concerts).
Review 61:We were recommended to stay here by a friend and we were not disappointed. Very simple but clean rooms with views of the sea or mountains. A breath of fresh air. Adorable staff who answered any questions you cared to ask. Food in their restaurant was good too as was their music evening. A real family business run excellently. I'd stay again if I return to Amorgos.
Review 62:Transport required to make the most of Amorgos, car hire expensive and mountain roads a little dauntig for a scooter!
Review 63:Quiet while handy for beach and tavernas. Enjoyable just sitting on balcony taking in the view. Staff were really friendly and helpful and room maintenance was excellent. Next door to dive centre which was well run and able to provide a few dives as an extra to the holiday.
Review 64:Pleasent, friendly, helpful staff. The roof terrace. The home made marmalade. The location
Review 65:Staff extremely helpful
Review 66:Clean and comfortable, good service. Very friendly and helpful personnel, with positive mood and smiles all the time!
Review 67:No kettle in room.
Review 68:Good transfers, location on beach, very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 69:Excellent hospitality. Great location. Value for money.
