Reviews for Tir y Coed Country House

Review 1:We received a fantastic welcome and excellent hospitality from both Alan and Ian, who made our wedding anniversary visit so very special. This property is tucked away in an idyllic corner of Conwy, with spectacular views of the rolling countryside and Welsh mountains from every vista. The bed in our suite was huge, and so comfy, with every possible need catered for at every turn. The description doesn't mention it but there is even a DVD player to go with the widescreen TV. We highly recommend dining on-site. Our three-course meal was exquisite; the nicest Welsh lamb we have ever eaten. After dinner, relax in the stylish guest's salon and enjoy spirits, wine or lagers to your own preference. Dinner was so plentiful, we were still full at breakfast but it looked so delicious we had to indulge again! During our stay we met a couple who have been coming back to Tir y Coed Country House for more than 20 years, they love it so much. It says it all really!

Review 2:I would have preferred a 2 course meal in the evening instead of 3. Even though I managed 3!!

Review 3:Alan and Ian made us very welcome. Friendly and helpful. Food was excellent and the décor and furnishings beautiful

Review 4:Ian & Alan were very friendly and ready to offer good advice on places to visit and good restaurants in the area. The bedrooms were very comfortable.

Review 5:The whole place is decorated to a very high standard and there is evidence everywhere that the patrons care a great deal about the overall appearance of the facility. Breakfast was superb, one of the best I have experienced anywhere and once again there was real care taken with every facet of the meal.

Review 6:Lovely peaceful small hotel in a gorgeous setting. The rooms are incredibly comfortable and beautifully decorated. We felt very well looked after and would highly recommend it, particularly as it is only a 15 minute taxi ride away from Conwy.

Review 7:The attention to detail with the decor was lovely, welcoing hosts, a drink on the terrace overlooking the garden. The meal was at a high standard using local produce, meats and fish. Importantly a really comfortable bed and a good nights sleep. Thank you

Review 8:Ian and Allen are as sharply attuned to guest travel needs s they are to the details of guest comfort. They pay great attention to detail, and all those details add up to a memorable stay.

Review 9:Nothing!

Review 10:The owners were perfect hosts, very welcoming and excellent customer service. Very relaxed atmosphere and beautifully decorated to a high standard. Delicious food and excellent value for money. A perfect weekend treat!

Review 11:There is no shower in the bathroom. So if you just want a shower it will be really difficult.

Review 12:The hotel is really nice and gives a homely atmosphere. Very well decorated. You get a cosy feeling.

Review 13:Nothing. (Just a warning: this hotel is not really suitable for small children)

Review 14:Alan and Ian are perfect hosts: friendly and kind, and could not have been nicer. Alan gave us great advice on the best way to navigate the extensive NT gardens at Bodnant ( the reason for our visit) Ian is a skilled cook, and dinner and breakfast were both excellent . Bed firm, with good linens and a lovely soft pillow. This hotel is a bit more expensive than some others locally but is worth the extra.

Review 15:The best b&b I have ever stayed in. Wonderful in every way. Fantastic hospitality , fantastic food, fantastic house. Already booked our next stay .

Review 16:Location of Hotel was in a pretty Welsh village surrounded by beautiful countryside and impressive views of the mountains. We were welcomed upon arrival by Ian and Alan who were both really friendly. Our room was lovely and we would definately stay here again.

Review 17:There wasn't a selection of herbal tea.

Review 18:Staff were very welcoming, and the food was outstanding. The room was very pleasant and comfortable will return in the near future.

Review 19:Taxis were near impossible to find in the area late at night, so we nearly didn't make it back to Tir y Coed at all! (Not a negative for the hotel - just a warning to book them in advance for future guests!) The shower had no bracket to fix it to the wall so you had to hold it with one hand and soap with the other. That's the ONLY thing I'd change - do stay here, it's lovely.

Review 20:Furnishings gorgeous. Scrupulously clean. Hosts utterly charming and friendly. Full Welsh breakfast was delicious, with a full length view of the hills. Shame really we were a pair of friends as it's uber romantic!

Review 21:The country house was magnificent, beautifully decorated throughout and our room was splendid. Ian & Alan were fantastic hosts and attention to detail was second to none. will definitely stay there again.

Review 22:It was great to find that nothing had changed in terms of quality, although as usual there had been some changes in décor, which was lovely. Despite a lovely menu, I cheekily emailed ahead to see if my favourite dish might be available and it magically appeared just for me! Wonderful hosts - highly recommended!

Review 23:Wonderful hosts, nothing is too much trouble, beautiful rooms and excellent food, would definitely visit again, and would recommend to anyone who wants a peaceful relaxing break.

Review 24:Our room did not have a view and the shower was an awkward configuration and difficult to control.

Review 25:A beautifully decorated and comfortable country house with delicious food and friendly hosts. We were not surprised to find out that it was a repeat visit for some of our fellow guests.

Review 26:Nothing comes to mind!

Review 27:There was very little not to like. Beautiful accommodations, excellent gardens. Owners were very personable. Best surprise was that they served one of the more outstanding dinners we had on our entire trip.

Review 28:It is difficult to find anything I didn't like about Tir y Coed. The location is lovely and the house manages to be warm and comfortable but modern and stylish. The food was excellent and both Iain and Alan were friendly and hospitable and, as we stayed for longer, entertaining and helpful hosts who took the trouble to learn our likes and dislikes. Thoroughly recommended for anyone who likes a country environment.

Review 29:Warm welcome. Relaxing and picturesque location. An excellent choice for our first anniversary, lovely location, delightful hosts and delicious steaks!

Review 30:Junior suite did not offer any views of the amazing valley setting. While the room had an air of style and character the bathroom was lacking. The shower was particularly disappointing. If the bathroom was improved I would have no hesitation to give an excellent rating.

Review 31:Idyllic location, fantastic breakfast, lovely house tastefully decorated and with period character, junior suite a good room on the whole.

Review 32:Minor issues poor WiFi in room and hand held shower not easy.

Review 33:Very friendly welcome,no fuss admin, great setting, high standard in cleaning to meals presentation, great garden terrace for pre-dinner drinks and overall a very relaxing experience.

Review 34:Would have preferred the shower head to be fixed rather than loose (being attached to the bath tap unit).

Review 35:Such friendly communicative people, and a happy atmosphere amongst other guests that their hospitality created. First class food, menu and service - wide choice of wines. Nothing was too much trouble.and wide bed and room of high standard. Nearby, Bodnant was fantastic ! Conwy too had much interest.

Review 76:Ian and Allen are fabulous hosts the hotel is relaxing guiet and tastefully decorated.Breakfast was perfect and the evening dinner devine .

Review 77:We had a wedding at 2pm and wanted to get changed before the wedding as we had a long journey. Owners were insistent that their check in time was 3pm to 10pm. So not only did we have to change in local toilets but had to leave the wedding early to check-in! Very annoying!!

Review 78:Beautiful house with lots of fine features. Room very comfortable though bathroom was on the small side for the price we paid. Breakfast was delicious, local produce beautifully cooked and presented.

Review 79:Extra pillows in the room would have been nice,as the ones there were very soft and would have liked the choice of porridge to have been on breskfast menu or am just nit picking?

Review 80:Hotel very homely and in good decorative order .Owners were friendly and rooms were well kept.

Review 81:Wi-Fi was not really available throughout the stay. This is compoundedby the lack of mobile phone signal so communication with the outsideworld is quite difficult. This is however my only criticism.

Review 82:This was a really nice one night stay! Every detail had been consideredand carefully executed. Food was delicious!

Review 83:The shower in our room was hand held, I wouldn't expect this in a 5 star hotel.

Review 89:The weather!!!

Review 90:Both Ian & Alan made us both very welcome - although we had never met them before, it was as if they had been our friends for years. Evening meal & Breakfast were superb. A definite recommendation.

Review 91:We were made to feel welcome from the moment we walked through the frontdoor. The evening meals were outstanding. We were thoroughly lookedafter and have now re-charged our batteries.

Review 92:If you consumed any drinks in the hotel they were very expensive £3.25for a bottle of water however there was a pub within walking distance

Review 102:Our room, number 1 was pleasant but it only had views of the front drive. The shower didn't have a wall attachment.

Review 104:Absolutely nothing.

Review 105:Everything - Alan and Ian are truly expert at looking after their guests in this wonderful house in such a warm, welcoming and friendly way. Food was wonderful both at dinner and breakfast, great wine list, superb menu - mouth watering dishes on offer. This is a real gem of a country house hotel, one not to be missed, we cannot wait to get back there.

Review 106:If I was to be hyper critical, there was no hook to hold the shower hose up, which meant having to hold it by hand, and the water pressure was poor

Review 107:Fantastic place, the owners are attentive and nothing is too much trouble. Great food, both dinner and breakfast, amazingly comfortable bed
