Reviews for Mayfair Hotel

Review 1:I think carparking could be a problem in high season.

Review 2:A very friendly hotel. Staff were friendly whilst still remaining professional. Rooms are spacious with extremely comfortable beds. Good facilities although I was there on business and did not have time to use many of them.

Review 3:There was free wifi but it was only available at reception area and not throughout the hotel

Review 4:Great location for ease of access to town. Good sized room with plenty of storage space for clothes.

Review 5:No complaints at all. Enjoyed my stay and would certainly recommend the hotel. Will try the swimming pool, hot tub and sauna next visit looks good and seemed warm and well looked after.

Review 6:Being next to smoking area!! Obviously a party going on and screaming and fighting coming right through the windows of room as backs on to smoking area!

Review 7:Normally love the hotel! Unfortunately we where placed right at back of hotel room next to and backs on to smoking area where all we could hear all night was fighting and arguing from this area!!! Couldn't get any sleep

Review 8:The hotel does not provide Wi-Fi in the bedrooms and the Wi-Fi it provides in the communal areas is slow and intermittent

Review 9:Staff could not do enough for you. They are extremely helpful and courteous. Hotel is in the perfect location for a short walk into town. The breakfast was fantastic offering a wide variety to chose from.

Review 10:Shame wifi only in public areas. Shame coffee shop closed after my first day for refurbishment.

Review 11:Comfortable,large room. On site coffee shop with excellent meals.

Review 12:Housekeeping staff entered my room while I was inside three times in the three days I was there.

Review 13:Charming and helpful desk staff. Easy walk to town centre.

Review 14:I have no dislikes and would recommend the hotel to family and friends.

Review 15:Everything as far as I am concerned. I have no issues with the comfort, cleanliness or customer service but it would be nice if the price could include a breakfast rather than having to go elsewhere to eat.

Review 16:I can't complain at the money I paid, the upgrade will bring a nicer appearance to the hotel.

Review 17:Great for a cheap stay, I did not eat at the hotel but the rooms were clean and it was cheap. The hotel is being upgraded but it is a reasonable three star stay.

Review 18:No WiFi available except in reception. Staff at breakfast not always friendly and had better breakfast.

Review 19:Room size good, clean bathroom and comfy bed.

Review 20:Peeling wallpaper in the room. Needs attention. Beds ok but could do with thicker mattresses.

Review 21:Ideal location for the purpose of our visit. Staff very helpful and friendly. Immaculate bathroom.

Review 22:Wi-Fi was not good this time but there is a couple of computors in the lobby .!

Review 23:Friendly ,helpfull staff . Clean comfortable good parking ,ideal for town or getting out East easily. I have stayed before and will stay there again .

Review 24:The air conditioning was on full blast even though it was cold outside ! My evening meal and breakfast was cold before I finished, it was adjusted and I was offered more food but I don't think the room should have been that cold to start with.

Review 25:The location was great even though I was on business trip I was in the centre of town almost. Rooms were very spacious and clean.

Review 26:The car park is way too tight !

Review 27:Been here loads of times mainly stay New Year's Eve as the celebrations are brilliant, one of the best middle of the road hotels on the island

Review 28:The stuffy smell the run down decor the old fashioned lifeless atmosphere.rather overpriced for alcohol and food but the whole island is overpriced retirement village come nasty holiday camp really bad. Don't go if you're under 80 even the reps are elderly the whole island is stuck in WW2 time zone. Far to many views are ruined by disgusting German war turret and bunkers. Yes its good to see history keep the important few but really need to get rid of the majority of them and move on jersey even the beautiful Elisabeth castle is ruined by ugly war turret yuk embrace the new world everyone else has. Its just a big ugly war museums if it was removed the island would be beautiful really it's time to leave the past behind. Remembrance doesn't mean we have to live in the past and look at ugly German war structures. You are aware jersey even the Berlin Wall had been removed only a small part remains 'Leat we forget '

Review 29:Nice people for the older generation though it was like an old people's home.I was travelling with an elderly friend 80 years old amazing person who total agrees with me the whole place need to to have new energy and fresh life pored into it in buckets loads. Live life be happy the war is over.

Review 30:WiFi was only one way i.e. only download, no upload, cannot send emails etc. Decor was very dated and facilities were in need of repair/upgrades.

Review 31:Big hotel with plenty of lounge areas. Lots of elderly whom were all very friendly.

Review 32:Steam room (dirty and needs some renovation!), dirty hotel generally, especially the rooms, breakfast pretty bad, you cannot get a full English before 7.30am even if you book an early breakfast so I wouldn't pay for that again even if it had been good food, games room also needs renovation or getting rid of (one pool cue which was broken in half and old arcade games which didn't work), very dated apart from the lobby area, Wifi only in lobby area and didn't work properly anyway as you can't send an email, only receive.

Review 33:The swimming pool, location.

Review 34:no wifi in room and no air con

Review 35:We really enjoy staying at the Mayfair the staff are great and polite the location is perfect for us this was our 9th year running we've stayed here

Review 36:Room was dirty, the staff rude. They never booked our taxi to the airport even though they promised they had. This hotel is most definitely not worth the £100 per night. It's very dated

Review 37:The swimming pool

Review 38:Heat in bedrooms unbearable; heat at poolside more so with consequential health and safety issues.

Review 39:Most staff helpful, especially reception, and family friendly.

Review 40:Hated the beds very old matresses must be 10 years old. Shower was hard to get to right temperature.

Review 41:The pool the cafe bar and restaurant were nice. Staff friendly and breakfast perfect.

Review 42:The room was small for a family. Sound of building works outside. Windows only opened a fraction. Parking was very difficult. Kids klub staff were not security conscious enough.

Review 43:The waiting staff were very obliging and considerate.

Review 44:Not enough parking bays, had to block other cars in. Felt like a sardine at breakfast as tables so close together, poor buffet choice and rushed. Room ok but bed hard, fan in bathroom didn't work and smelt musty.

Review 45:Hotel is big and too busy. Rooms are hot even though heating was off. The hotel seems a bit tired. On two occasions the croissants ran out at breakfast and were not replenished.

Review 46:The evening entertainment was enjoyable and the bar prices were reasonable.

Review 47:sometimes noisy from street outside when in bedroom.

Review 48:Hotel was very clean. Nothing was too much trouble for staff, very helpful and pleasant. Food was very good.

Review 49:The breakfast was expensive and the staff were not great, very grumpy so we decided to eat out because of this. Wifi was a joke, I travel all over the world and have access in any room I stay but not at Mayfair? This would be a real benefit to everyone rather than queueing for two machines in the lobby!!!

Review 50:Pool facilities was excellent and the Reception Team were amazing. Housekeeping did a great job and always smiling which makes a huge difference.

Review 51:Nothing

Review 52:I have stayed in this hotel five times now and will definitely stay there again on my next trip. Good food and very friendly.Good value and in a good position for shops etc.

Review 53:wiFi only available in foyer My partner found the beds uncomfortable, felt they need upgrading

Review 54:As we were travelling with a Guide Dog we found the staff extremely helpful

Review 55:We had a suit this time lovely room but smell of cooking reported to reception staff who moved us without any fuss.

Review 56:Great location and on site facilities.Fantastic staff in all areas

Review 57:Service poor - too many guests for staff to cope with (it was Island Games week so maybe that explains it). Cannot understand how the hotel is rated 8.1. It seemed like the hotel is taking the money but not providing the service.

Review 58:Not a lot really!

Review 59:The rooms weree far too hot and it made sleep very difficult i was staying with 3 other people and they experienced the same. we had to have the windows open during the night but then were woken very early in the morning by the noise of the seagulls

Review 60:The cafe was a good idea and we found that after having the evening meal on our first night and just found the food ok we tried the little cafe in the hotel for our meal one night and a couple of lunches and it was much better. our room wasnt ready when we arrived and was given a voucher for tea nad coffee while we waited nice touch .

Review 61:Was told I could get early continental breakfast but in the morning I was met with a miserable waiter who would not accommodate. Usual problem trying to get a tax invoice at checkout.

Review 62:Parking

Review 63:Touch lamps by bed too easy to switch on by accident in night when reaching for drink of water. Room far too hot, although to be fair weather was very hot but could not get cool. Smokers gathering outside main door unpleasant as smoke drifts into reception area.

Review 64:Good location. Well equipped gym. Room was spacious.

Review 65:The room was shabby, unbearably hot and the pillows were smelly and sweaty. Had to go out and buy pillow protectors.

Review 66:It was nice to have a pool and the breakfasts were good.

Review 67:Cheap hotel - you get what you pay for so anyone being surprised at the low standard is being a little unrealistic, you get a bed and a shower for the night, if you want extras stay at the yacht.

Review 68:I enjoyed checking out

Review 69:Dining room cramped and buffet breakfast poorly arranged. Swimming pool very small and used for children's swimming lessons all afternoon so could not use it. Wifi service only in reception area which made it very difficult to use.

Review 70:Very convenient location, easy parking, comfortable rooms, good food and friendly and efficient staff.

Review 71:Some of the areas were tatty, its a shame as it slightly lets the hotel down, only negative.

Review 72:Staff were helpful and friendly, rooms very clean. Excellent services, highly recommended.

Review 73:Lack of wifi I had to make three separate bookings due to nature of trip and for the 5 nights we were in the hotel, we were expected to move rooms three times. The issue was resolved when I refused to move.

Review 74:Rooms were clean and most staff friendly Location was good

Review 75:the games near fitness room, my son put money into and it did not work, girl at fitness center sent us to reception and reception sent us back to fitness reception; we gave up : it was not a big lost but my son could not play ! it is a shame there is not a price inclusive breakfast.

Review 76:THE POSSIBILITY TO LEAVE OUR SUITCASES BEFORE AND AFTER THE HOTEL STAY, THE FITNESS CENTER and pool, the CLEANLINESS OF ROOM, the tea and coffee in the room

Review 77:No Wifi, and out room looked out on fencing close up to the window, also hot water not too hot

Review 78:The staff were friendly and very helpful The hotel was spotlessly clean

Review 79:Some of the other guests were pretty inconsiderate. The road noise both traffic and people was very off-putting. Didn't get a decent nights sleep either night of our stay. Would benefit from proper double glazing.

Review 80:Gym and pool good. Breakfast excellent. Check in and out very efficient. Good parking.

Review 81:Decor: expect lots of brass and burgundy. Water: be careful if you like a piping hot bath/shower: there was a hot water issue which maintenance kindly fixed for me, but I still couldn't get my bath hotter than 'just hot enough'.

Review 82:Exactly what I'd expect for a three star hotel - the little sachets of nescafe, smallish TV, average toiletries... but very helpful staff, great breakfast service and all super, spotlessly clean!

Review 83:Wifi problems. Only in reception and very weak. Poor room service. Food arrived cold and porter needs to go to manner school as was very abrupt

Review 84:Cleanliness,politeness,facilities and price

Review 85:Bit of noise from aircon/generator outside bedroom window

Review 86:Comfort of bed Size of room/bathroom Very clean Tea making facilities with loads of supplies Breakfast was great and service fab The price!

Review 87:Musical chairs. Old furniture.

Review 88:Great stay, parking on site and great facilities (pool, steam room, etc). Breakfast was good but musical chairs every day grew very irritating. Room was very clean but furniture was old and tired.

Review 89:The bathroom light was flickering all the time so a little annoying.

Review 90:The beds were comfortable. Had the facilities needed for a short stay, not sure I would have wanted to stay for longer. We were told the room was double booked but the staff (Dan) managed to find a room so thank you for that. We arrived late due to the ferry having an accident on arrival, but was left a bottle of champagne in the room which was a very nice touch, so thank you again.

Review 91:The wifi was only excellent in the reception as advertised, although there was a bit of network on the second floor (but this was not reliable). It would be very nice if wifi could be made more available.

Review 92:The hotel is located not far from the center of town, and is very comfortable, well maintained and organised. Breakfast was also very good. The gym facilities and indoor swimming pool are a fabulous plus!. All in all, i would definitely stay here again!

Review 93:The atmosphere was really nice. It was excellent value and the staff were very polite and helpful. The evening entertainment wasn't exactly my thing, but it was really nice that the hotel went to the trouble to put this on for guests. And people all seemed to enjoy it.

Review 94:Little bit noisey if by the main road side. Staff helpfull to change room and everything Ok after.

Review 95:Nice polite friendly staff.Clean and comfortable. easy reach of town.Very helfull .Would stay again.

Review 96:Had black hair in my bed every single day. And it's noisy at night being in town. Room was nice. Bathroom was great. No small fridge though which I found annoying being there 2 weeks

Review 97:The bar staff were friendly!

Review 98:I don't know who was more surprised me or the cleaner when she strolled in without knocking or shouting hello when entering the room, surprised the hell out of me when I was towering down in the bath!!

Review 99:Food was good and the service was acceptable. Nice facilities to relax away some free time.

Review 100:Surly staff who spoke poor English. Cooked breakfast inedible. Tap falling off, lukewarm shower, next to noisy road with no double glazing to keep out traffic noise.

Review 101:Toilet not properly clean. Room key did not work even once reset.

Review 102:Comfortable and spacious room. Efficient late night food provision; efficient wifi in reception. Lovely breakfast.

Review 103:Floor 2 no wifi connection transport to and from airport total cock up told to be in reception at 06-30 for departure nothing came 0650 contacted marco on desk told me to pay for a taxi then claim it back very unhelpful walking away whilst taking to him transport came at 07-10 they had already taken my money for transport but he was not interested as I suffer from health issues this was not helping me

Review 104:Breakfast central swimming pool fitness centre

Review 105:Excellent value for money. Facilities of the hotel were great. Helpful and friendly staff Close to centre of town. Breakfast had a good choice

Review 106:enjoyed it all

Review 107:from the day I arrived reception, dinning and cleaning staff were all very friendly and although I was only B/B received a gift at Breakfast on the 25th... I was visiting my family and they also had a B/B the night before I was returning home. Will be back soon

Review 108:I've stayed at the Mayfair on many occasions recently because it is very good value and convenient. However, the staff are fairly indifferent and I didn't appreciate the unexpected entrance of the night porter late one night looking for an empty room. This place could be so much better with a motivated staff.

Review 109:Wi fi is in the bar area- at night is used for live music acts - personally this can be awkward for me. But on a plus - Jersey wi fi has improved over the years

Review 110:All the staff have always been friendly and helpful. The hotel is situated 5 minutes from town centre. Stayed here many times over the last 5 years and everything is as familiar as my previous stays. A very nice hotel.

Review 111:Location. Surrounded in noisy main rds and opposite Jerseys council flats. Catering for the coach trips for the elderly the lounge area had a distinctive odour of elderly body fluids found in hospital wards and seating was shabby and very stained. There was no spa treatments onsite so the description of spa pool is misleading to an unwise husband booking a surprise birthday trip to a spa hotel for his wife!!! We didn't get to our room because we hated it and asked for a transfer or our money back at reception and booking.com. Both blaming each other saying no.!! We paid again for a flight back to Gatwick that same day, another £104 with easy jet. And paid again for another spa hotel. Absolutely horrific.

Review 112:I could not sleep due to the noise from the bands on the two night I stayed. My early wake up call did not happen, fortunately I woke up intime to catch the shuttle!

Review 113:Location Reception staff helpful Shuttle service very prompt

Review 114:The breakfast choice was a little poor and dining room staff were a little confusing and found it hard to communicate with them when asking for breakfast things

Review 115:Location and ease if stay organised check in and my request was met for a double bed also got to check in earlier bonus

Review 116:Every time I stay here it takes an eternity to get a table, this time I waited 5 minutes and got seated only when one of the waiters took pity,no sign of the restaurant manager, the only way to get his attention is if you have a cleavage.

Review 117:I've stayed here many times, always good. Only one problem getting a table allocated in the restaurant.

Review 118:Wifi used personal login details not generic. One receptionist turned up at my door demanding money two days after I checked in. Parking not great

Review 119:Clean, tidy

Review 120:Rooms were extremely hot. No aircon. We were on the second floor so we had the window open at all times and we got a fan from reception which helped a little but was noisy whilst trying to sleep.

Review 121:Poor quality. No airflow in rooms. Curt staff. Uncomfortable for £100 per night. Would not recommend it to anyone who is willing to pay more that £40 per night. A B&B would have been infinitely better

Review 122:Leaving !

Review 123:very hot in room had to borrow a fan for room no air conditioning in room had trouble sleeping first night.

Review 124:hotal stay for 1 week very good entertainment very good would stay there again

Review 125:non allocated parking space makes parking a bit hit or miss. although clean hotel could do with some refurbishment

Review 126:friendly service clean and spacious room good choice of breakfast

Review 127:The only thing is that there is no WIFI in rooms and even the phone coverage is bad in specific room so you can hardly use internet.

Review 128:Great location, close to all amenities. Friendly and helpful staff. Always a pleasure to return.

Review 129:The bed was very uncomfortable and the room extremely hot; unable to sleep. Given a fan but this only circulated the hot air. Could do with air conditioning. A fridge in the room would also be beneficial to keep water / milk in.

Review 130:Food was very good and staff helpful. Very relaxed atmosphere.

Review 131:The lifts had failed on this occasion..which was a pain getting to the upper floors with cases etc..but these things happen... It was also very hot..but I can't really call that a complaint..!!

Review 132:Always a good hotel to stay in..I regularly stay here on business..centrally located..parking very good...walking distance to many good shops and restaurants

Review 133:my room did not have view all l see was fence.after 10pm at night door bang.went you fill ketter up could not get under the tap becauce ketter to big.

Review 134:l like mayfair near town don,t have walk fare.staff very nice.

Review 135:Hotel definitely catered towards older guests and rooms very warm, staff at breakfast could have been more friendly.

Review 136:Excellent location for St Helier, room very clean and good size.

Review 137:There nothing not to like about Jersey or The Mayfair hotel only one gripe was we had dinner in the hotel one evening and was disappointed with the food for a 3 star hotel we expected the food to be of a higher standard. When ordered a cheese board after my first choice of dessert was finished I was expecting the cheese to be presented on a board with crackers and maybe a little bunch of grapes, no it came on a tray served by the waiter I had a choice from the last little bits of cheese, and biscuits that had been left out and soggy which is a shame.

Review 138:It was quite central which meant it wasn't far to walk to the centre of St Hellier also to the esplanade. To walk to St Auben is about 30 mins and a lovely walk, or catch the little train. There are some lovely restaurants and bars loads of historical places to visit and some beautiful bays and beaches which are close by accessed by walking or by car.

Review 139:Hairdryers are a bit rubbish, no power!

Review 140:A staff member helpfully brought a fan to my room without me even having to ask for one as it was a particularly humid day.

Review 141:Thought very basic room for not a cheap price, would've been better in a premier inn! Room was roasting hot so neither of us had a good sleep

Review 142:Nice pool area
