Reviews for Tudor Rose Hotel
Review 1:The toilet had not been flushed since the previous occupant had used the room. I accept that these things might occasionally happen, and I stayed for the first night I had booked. I informed the manager that I did not intend to stay the second night in the light of this, and requested a refund, but the owner did not believe my experience and refused to refund me for the second night's accommodation which I did not use. This seems to me to be poor customer service, and I won't be going back.
Review 2:It's a cheap hotel, so I didn't expect too much and I wasn't disappointed
Review 3:Its a grade 2 listed building so quite a few creaky floors and doors also in need of a bit of refurbishment - carpets and painting of walls etc which I'm sure will be done very soon. This is not a complaint just an observance.
Review 4:The convenience of being within a stones throw from the town centre and many visitor attractions.
Review 5:Breakfast service was excellent as was choice of beers in the bar. Lovely central location for seeing Kings Lynn. Management went out of their way to be helpful, despite them being Arsenal fans.
Review 6:N/A
Review 7:Great room for the price, very comfort and warm. No stairs to worry about, i just wished i had more time to stay, but i am coming back in a few weeks, as i liked it so much for a weekend.
Review 8:The bathroom outside the room and the fact that the bathtub was a bathtub.. nothing set to take an actual shower which is very unconvenient when you are in a hurry... Also i found it a bit expensive but i guess those are ťhe UK's rate
Review 9:The staff was nice and welcoming, the breakfast was good and the location was perfect.
Review 10:The mattress was not comfortable, we could feel the springs The toilet was very small and the door not really "soundproof". OK for people who don't get embarassed.
Review 11:Very interesting building
Review 12:Very lumpy bed. No heating. Leaking Toilet. Room dusty with cobwebs on ceiling. Broken hangers in wardrobe. Room felt damp. Man on reception couldn't have made it more obvious he disliked guests!
Review 13:I didn't like anything about the property.
Review 14:There wasn't a hair dryer in the room unlike most other hotels and the doors were very loud when opening and closing due to the locks but these are very very minor issues as the building is very old.
Review 15:The bed was super comfy, the room was very clean, the facilities worked well, a friendly atmosphere, the building kept its rustic asthetic while still being very modern and overall was a very nice hotel.
Review 16:Not having any towel rails, always a problem when no place to hang wet towels after using during the day and needing to use next morning. Would have liked a hook on the bathroom door. When leaving I saw a gentleman, whom I presumed was the owner, in the pub area and said thank you for a nice stay but it would be nice to have a towel rail and a hook on the door and he just stared at me. As there had been foul language coming from a private quarters while eating our breakfast presumed it might well have been him talking and he was not a happy man. Felt it was a shame as the staff had been quite nice and chatty.
Review 17:Staff were helpful. Convenient location.
Review 18:An excellent central location, ideal for my visit to the Corn Exchange. Very good value, especially as it included a lovely full english breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful, and room/facilities were comfortable and just as described. The Tudor Rose is a fascinating old building with lots of history. A pleasure to stay there and would happily return.
Review 19:The attitude of the owner who never acknowledged us was very poor. Totally unbusiness like.
Review 20:Not much! Apart from a member of staff in the dining room who was good.
Review 21:Waitress serving and leaving the cooked breakfast each morning (4 day stay) whilst we were still eating the cereal first course was completely unprofessional
Review 22:Its location
Review 23:The Receptionists were both extremely kind & helpful. I was in a rush to leave for the bus-stop and the morning Receptionist gave me THE most perfect directions! - When I arrived the night before, I received a superb friendly welcome from Jack. Upon leaving, Jack was kind enough to make taxi arrangements to the rail station for me. - I loved the fact that the building was 500+ years old!
Review 24:Didnt get told a time for breakfast so missed it and had to go else were for it. Could have more shampoo and conditioner rather than cheap stuff. No hairdryer. Every girl needs one. Could do with a cleaner carpet too.
Review 25:Was local lovely Inside room was clean bit cold but towards the night was warmer bed comfy good size room service of one of the blokes bit moody could work on smiling.. it is whats It is. It's an old building. But would stay again over all was a good stay.
Review 26:Rooms could do with a bit of a better clean but overall ok for a short stay.
Review 27:Great location, helpful and friendly staff. Great building with lots of character
Review 28:Room was damp and musty. Shower was cramped and did not function well. The room desperately needed a new carpet. Ventilation was poor. Had to ask for a fan which was tiny but did help a little.
Review 29:Location and features in the building
Review 30:The shower temperature could not be regulated easily, it seems to have been a relatively new geyser though. It was either too cold or too hot. No WiFi in our room.
Review 31:The receptionist was very helpful with parking. The hall where we had breakfast was very impressive. It looked very tudor-ish ;)
Review 32:Parking my car away from the hotel. WellMy card had been charged on arrival and would not let me add any drinks to the bill. Has I had only enough cash with me to buy one drink from the bar.
Review 33:Very friendly, Clean
Review 34:The person that greeted us was efficient but didn't smile once, no warmth or friendlines. In the bar all pump beers, lagers and ciders were warm, not good.
Review 35:Breakfast itself and the service was great with a friendly helpful smile.
Review 36:No Fan in the room so had to have windows open and that made it noisy ~ Residents above us VERY noisy right up until 1am and they only quietened down after I shouted. No Restaurant open ~ No customers in the bar~ needs some money spending on it
Review 37:Waitress cooking breakfast was very friendly.
Review 38:Rooms smelt of stale smoke and was only clean at eye level, I've never seen so much dust on a lampshade, only had a bath no shower and wifi is only available downstairs so felt guilty when I disturbed the owners football to use my laptop.
Review 39:Breakfast was lovely and the location is good
Review 40:It was very noisy until about midnight as there had been an event in the market Square.
Review 41:Briony and her wonderful breakfasts! I also love the timber framing.
Review 42:The terrible smell of damp in our bedroom. It was in the ground floor and it is a very old building. That day it rained a lot and the smell was overpowering. We had to ask for some spray as having the window open wasn't enough.
Review 43:The waitress in the dining room and the young man in the bar were really nice and friendly people and made you feel very welcome.
Review 44:Seems almost churlish to find fault at the price, when all the important basics were in place and sound. But purely by way of constructive feedback: Some quite small things in the way of attention to detail would have made it even better eg no plug in handbasin in room. Hospitality tray, though perfectly fine, would have been even better with some low calorie sweeteners - so many people are watching their weight these days, and there is a diabetes epidemic almost. No instructions and password for using WiFi. I didn't ask about any of these things, not important enough. I'm sure they would have been quickly & readily put right if I'd just asked.
Review 45:Really good value for money. Clean & comfortable economy hotel. Good very adequate breakfast. Really good location for town centre generally and especially for the Corn Exchange, Tuesday market place, and the river.
Review 46:Shower had insects crawling out of drain so was unable to use, green bugs all around the bathroom, pubic hair on the toilet rim, dirty kettles, bad tv reception, bad customer service (staff was lounging on a sofa shoeless in a tight football kit. No menu for breakfast, broken toilet door.
Review 47:The room was cold. We were told the radiators were off for the summer and we were offered a fan heater for £5. (We are in our seventies.) There was a heated towel rail in bathroom. There was no hairdryer though, with some reluctance, one was provided when I asked. The shower had slow drainage and overflowed onto the floor. There was only one bedside light.
Review 48:Location of hotel, convenient to attractions. The building was of historical interest. Our breakfast was served by friendly staff. It was quiet.
Review 49:Unfortunately yet another establishment that has the disagreeable policy of taking the money before you arrive which I discussed with the young man at some length upon my arrival.
Review 50:I liked the breakfast and enjoyed the interesting conversation with the young lady that made and served it.
Review 51:If you like it LOUD then this is the place for you: continual traffic outside and wafer thin walls between rooms. Otherwise below average.
Review 52:Location is centralish.
Review 53:The toilet tank took a long time to fill up and the shower was poor. The breakfast tables need cleaning for the next set of guests sitting down. The wi-fi needs improving and mobile signasl needs boosting. No parking on the premises.
Review 54:The morning staff at breakfast were very friendly. The room was clean and the beds were nicely made.
Review 55:Everything else, dirty, musty and mouldy smelling. In need of updating and deep cleaning. Will not stay again and would not recommend
Review 56:The location to my site
Review 57:Unable to use the bedside light as the flex wouldn't reach the socket. Dusty bedside table. Didn't fancy taking a shower.
Review 58:Was so close to the town centre and not far to walk when I came out of the Corn Exchange late at night.
Review 59:No chair in single room. Bed collapsed when I sat on head end to read, leaving me doubled up on my back with legs in the air! I was offered a change of room which I accepted - this was a double. Breakfast was poor, although waitress was friendly and gave good service.
Review 60:Location was good in heart of town, within walking distance of river and quay and historic buildings.
Review 61:Friendly welcome and very helpful member of staff who seemed to be running everything from reception to breakfasts. Basic twin room but was clean and quiet even tho it was next to a main road. Breakfast was good with choice of cereal and different options for cooked meal. In a nice area and very reasonably priced and close to all amenities, a good choice for an inexpensive overnight stay.
Review 62:Nothing really but if I was picky I'd say the small shower room. Couldn't understand why the public house was empty at 8:30pm on a bank holiday weekend?
Review 63:Quirky room and location and breakfast waitress
Review 64:Cleanliness or lack of bathroom behind sliding door. Plus faulty fittings. Greasy plate marks left on table after plate removed
Review 65:Cleanliness and comfort of bed. Pleasant staff. Location.
Review 66:No shower - just bath. On arrival complained hot water tap did not work and blinds broken. Quickly moved to another room. Noisy from floor above.
Review 67:The room was clean and tidy.
Review 68:Nothing wrong with the but with the over zealous parking wardens in King's Lynn, especially the closest parking area.
Review 69:Friendly staff, good value for money. Easy access to Market Square and eating places.
Review 70:No chair in bedroom Shower not working had to turn control opposite way to get hot water Breakfast no fruit juice available Toast served on same plate as cooked Waitress also the cook seemed very stressed
Review 71:Comfortable room, clean and tidy TV not working but was soon remedy by staff
Review 72:Minor cock up on booking - may have been as much my fault!!
Review 73:Lovely old building with lots of features. Bar at pub prices - very reasonable. Fantastic breakfast - nicely served by friendly staff.
Review 74:having to get up at 7.30am to put money in machine in car park. The rest of the hotel was grubby.
Review 75:convenience to centre of kings lynn. The room had new beds. breakfast was prompt and sufficient.
Review 76:Super, friendly staff, starting with Sam who checked us in and asked if we had remembered to pay for the car park - we hadn't!! So would have been ticketed without his reminder. Car park directly opposite hotel. Bryony's breakfast was great, she was very happy to provide whatever we requested. Would have given Tudor Rose a "very good" if available, but only offered "good" or "excellent."
Review 77:Wasn't told about the free WiFi or asked if I wanted to connect to it at any point.
Review 78:Staff were fairly friendly, they were all helpful. Decor and features are very beautiful and the room was a good size with a nice shower.
Review 79:Light pull in bathroom didn't work very well. Carpets in dining area and up stairs were a bit sticky underfoot.
Review 80:Bryoney who served us breakfast was very friendly and informative about the history of the hotel. We were left to come and go as we pleased. Beds were very comfy and we both slept well.
Review 81:No car park at hotel, so had to pay for the Council run public car park over the road from the hotel (Expensive, plus needed to 'top up' a couple of times). The water pressure in the toilet was a little less than desired (took a bit of flushing!!) Age of accomodation facilities starting to show, and a little more dust behind the scenes than expected.
Review 82:Ambience that comes with the age of the property, authentic nature of the main pub area's fixtures & fittings (i.e. nothing new and tacky!) Very friendly & helpful staff. Clean & tidy beds to rest up in. Nice full cooked breakfasts!!!
Review 83:Mattresses could be improved..
Review 84:The building. The fog. The breakfast, the staff, the bath. The place. The building the lead lined windows, the peace, the relaxed vibe
Review 85:Front desk person using guest lounge as own lounge, awkward going through to bedroom area from entrance when he & friend were watching TV. Decor dated in bedrooms/bathroom and low quality furniture.
Review 86:Overall price was good but you get what you pay for. Breakfast was nice and lady serving was great. Oldie worldly feel to public areas which was excellent for age of hotel, felt the history. Good shower gel and shampoo.
Review 87:Disappointing :Inadequate bedroom furniture though beds ok. Shower nearly did!! but not properly.
Review 88:Location;Location,Location, in the centre of Kings Lynn; has a bar. 15c
Review 89:car parking was a pain as you had to be up early to feed the meter the decor was a little shabby but it is an old building was very basic
Review 90:i liked the location the bed was comfortable the bathroom was clean the people seemed friendly was near town but still nice and quiet i liked that it was an older building ,it had character
Review 91:As we arrived before 6.00pm had to put more money in the car park opposite, otherwise it would not have been a problem parking across the street.
Review 92:Easy going relaxed attitude.
Review 93:I found nothing negative at all. Even the cleaner was nice!!
Review 94:I liked that it was so close to town centre. I liked the room. I liked breakfast. I liked that it was a very quiet location. All in all a very pleasant stay.
Review 95:The actual rooms are tired and could really do with a total refurbishment but it was still a nice friendly little hotel to stay in.
Review 96:The History of the hotel is wonderful. The breakfast was excellent and the staff really friendly and helpful and the pub and locals were very nice.
Review 97:If you were going for the "pub bit", there wasn't any when we were there. one customer at 6pm and none at 10pm. Limited menu and no one sampling it. Makes for a quiet night...good!
Review 98:Location is good and Lynn's quirky parking arrangements actually work for this hotel, which has no parking of its own. Although central we had a room at the front and it was still quiet. Staff was accommodating and friendly, Breakfast was just what we wanted. Easy access into town and good for just walking around. Clean comfortable would go again.
Review 99:A minor quibble: water in wash basin took an age to drain away. Blocked pipe I imagine.
Review 100:Very relaxed atmosphere. Staff very friendly. Lovely bar frequented by friendly local drinkers. Breakfast was good value.
Review 101:Had to use public car park as the hotel did not have own facilities.
Review 102:Location was ideal for town center amenities. Staff were friendly and helpful. Price was reasonable and also included good breakfast
Review 103:No Wi fi. Mould around shower. Loose buttons sticking out of the mattress. Generally a very tired hotel in need of TLC and a good clean.
Review 104:The waitress was very friendly. The building had many historical, architectural features.
Review 105:only thing that bothered me was the doors slamming outside our room early morning
Review 106:it was clean and tidy pleasant to stay in staff friendly room was suited for needs
Review 107:I had an inconvenient. My bathroom was on the hall. To go to the shower I exit the room and cross the corridor.
Review 108:The English breakfast with everything is excellent. Yummy.
Review 109:There was a window in the bathroom that didn't latch properly, at just the right height for a three-year-old to climb out. Luckily, she was very good and left it alone! But it's an old building and the windows can't be replaced without losing the charm of the place. There were no mattress protectors on the beds, so they were a bit too hard for me.
Review 110:The room was a good size, and the beds were good. It was all clean. Lots of biscuits in the room. Plenty of towels. Good, firm mattresses. Breakfast was good, and accommodating of a three-year-old. Staff were very friendly.
Review 111:Grim, run-down hotel. Staff just go through the motions. My "private bathroom" was not en -suite but along the corridor and was a windowless and unventilated room. There was no shower, just a bath and toilet.
Review 112:Location
Review 113:The en suite in my room was very poor. No natural light, poor level of electric lighting made worse by the fact that the light over the mirror did not work. I was virtually shaving in the dark. One panel of the shower door was completely missing, luckily the shower pressure was so low that the water did not escape through the gap.
Review 114:The ambience of an old building in an ancient town. Good breakfast in impressive breakfast room.
Review 115:The room was not in a good decorative state and the en-suite was very small and needs redecorating. There was little choice at breakfast.
Review 116:The location is excellent as it is just off the market square in Kings Lynn and the car park opposite is only £1.00 for an overnight stay. The waitress at breakfast was very friendly and helpful.
Review 117:The premises are "tired". There is no restaurant for evening meals. They were offering rooms from £30.00 when I arrived; I paid £60.00 over the internet!
Review 118:Not a lot. The staff tried to be helpful but the décor and facilities were just poor. The Wifi worked which was one plus. The breakfast was "ok"
Review 119:Car parking no spaces in hotel bays, no wifi in rooms
Review 120:Lovely traditional hotel.
Review 121:Bed was a bit hard
Review 122:Friendly staff, very clean close to town.
Review 123:Maybe a make over is needed however the cost would be astronimical
Review 124:Friendly people polite and welcoming
Review 125:Lovely hotel very clean, very friendly staff, excellent chef and fantastic breakfst
Review 126:Room needs decorating Breakfast over cooked
Review 127:Staff very helpful
Review 128:Need more tourism information
Review 129:Amazing building. Close to old town. Early breakfast
Review 130:Breakfast
Review 131:Idiotic staff, dirty bathroom, smelly room, no wifi.
Review 132:The location.
Review 133:Very friendly staff, and lovely building
Review 134:Nothing.
Review 135:Friendly staff. Helpful. Good breakfast. Quite relaxing.
Review 136:Central location
Review 137:no WIFI.. at least I didn't find one
Review 138:Excellent location! Friendly people and nice breakfast
