Reviews for The London Inn
Review 1:The was nothing we disliked. It was a shame the TV was on the blink but it couldn't be helped! We had a great stay!
Review 2:The friendliness of the staff and locals. The pub food was excellent as was the breakfast. Great location.
Review 3:Only gripe could do with new cushions on seats made bum numb.
Review 4:We liked the locals for the laughs they gave us also meeting different couples who knew the area we came from .also my partner enjoyed the local brew especially H S D or what we heard was High Speed Death. It was a very good weekend break hopefully we will be back.
Review 5:Dining room dark and a little dingy.Noise outside pub late at night however had been warned of this
Review 6:staff friendly , old world charm however some areas of the BB needed redecoration . Key didn't work properly in bedroom door , would recommend they replace as intimated other guests had had problems. Location excellent right in centre of Padstow.
Review 7:Toilet across corridor not ideal. The whole place in need of updating which landlord said they were about to start.
Review 8:Location excellent. Quirky and ok for a one night stay. Good value for money.
Review 9:No tea bags. Needs refurbishing.the carpet looked like it had been laid by a an amateur. No soap of any kind.hand soap, shower gel, or shampoo.toilet was across the corridor, but not very clean. Some large cobwebs on the fan.breakfast was OK.not very hot and the sausages were undercooked.
Review 10:Loved the location. Right in the centre of psdstow.the bed was very comfortable.shower was a good temperature but quite noisy. We had to wait for the room to be ready and they gave us a pot of tea on the house.gentleman who served breakfast was very helpful. Shame he was on his own.
Review 11:The room was very sub standard - dirty carpets, Dusty. No soap or toiletries in the en-suite which was dirty - the window didn't lock/ shut as latch broken - toilets were outside our window which was very noisy. Very disappointing!
Review 12:We liked the location - staff were pleasant but not much help - the proprietor away so there was no-one to complain to.
Review 13:We arrived at 1.55pm only to be told check in was 4pm though our booking clearly stated 2pm. However we were shown to the room (room 1 "The Sloop") at 2.45pm, to drop of our cases. When we returned to the room later we couldn't get in, the yale lock would not open. After ten minutes and one bent key (we'd been given three on a bunch) we contacted a member of staff who said the lock had been a problem a couple of weeks ago when someone broke off a key in the lock. The problem had obviously not been correctly rectified. It was at this point we realized there was no shower in the room, just a wash basin. Upon checking our booking confirmation it clearly said room with shower, we'd been told the toilet for our sole use was directly opposite the room. It was in fact down the corridor, a toilet shower and washbasin. It was quite clean except for the shower mat which was covered in black mould (see image). We did discover that Room 4 had a shower and wash basin in the room and their toilet was located immediately opposite - we believe this was the room we'd booked and so should have been in this room. We had also telephoned the day before and asked whether a full en-suite room was available for our one night stay and were told no. However we noticed that room 3 with full en-suite was empty and this was confirmed by the proprietor whom we notified of our problems at check out. Later on the evening of our stay we could not get back into the property as the "bent key" was the one for the guest entrance, though the Inn was closed the barman who was still there and unlocked the door for us. Breakfast was OK (6/10) but needed to be pre-ordered plus only served between 8.30 to 9.00am, far two narrower timescale. The route to breakfast passed through several of the Inns passages obviously used for storage etc, I think a Health & Safety Inspector might not of been impressed.(see image)
Review 14:Room was quite clean and well presented though lacked a large mirror. Only mirror was small circular above the sink, no socket available nearby for the hairdryer!!
Review 15:Didn't like having to cross the landing to get to our 'private' toilet, especially in the middle of the night!
Review 16:Great location and not at too loud from the pub downstairs.
Review 17:Toilet outside the bedroom, the bedroom required a womans touch to bring the decor upto the standard of the cost of the room. The room was a miss-match of all sorts, styles and colours.
Review 18:Central location within Padstow, good sized room, excellent shower.
Review 19:Some suggestions around where we could have parked our rental car would have saved my husband a lot of running around in the rain
Review 20:Loved the locality-so handy to everything that Padstow has to offer
Review 21:Room, although of reasonable size was in need of a complete refurbishment. The bed mattress was so thin that you could feel the springs and the slats of the bed base. The bathroom, particularly the shower, are in need of attention....the shower tray was raised on blocks of wood with no attempt to conceal them and with a big gap. The paint work was heavily cracked and flaking off. The grab rail screws were all rusty and tiles cracked . Overall the room was a great dissapointment and it certainly doesn't meet a luxury status that it is promoted as .
Review 22:Location and breakfast staff
Review 23:En-suite clean but shower control in need of repair (No protective cover on switch.
Review 24:Very convenient. Room spacious and bed comfy. Separate access for residents. Good breakfast choice - served hot Friendly
Review 25:Room not serviced at all on 2 days, room hardly serviced on 2 days, room not cleaned in a 5 day stay, no vacuuming or en-suite servicing in 5 days
Review 26:The old world charm of an old PUB, and the characters in the bar area Bar staff were "interesting" to observe
Review 27:Mattress was totally collapsed and bed creaked loudly every time someone moved. Mattress is way past its use by date Toilets separate from room even if individually assigned
Review 28:Friendly
Review 29:Room was situated over the bar and you cold hear every conversation. Also bed was a metal frame with a sprung mattress which squeaked every time you moved. Thankfully we were not on honeymoon!!!
Review 30:Good location. Very friendly staff. Good atmosphere. Very good breakfast and evening meal. Good value for money. A very enjoyable stay
Review 31:The bathroom was in need of updating and the carpet in the bedroom could do with replacing. The corridor from the bedrooms to breakfast room was like a store room and felt grubby. The breakfast ingredients were of poor quality, the bread for the bacon sandwich was dry and the yolk of my fried egg was more like hard boiled. The wifi was not working
Review 32:Spacious room & great location
Review 33:No problem really. Except they didn't collect any rubbish and clean the carpets after we had sprayed fly killer to kill a large number of flies that came through the window. Can be noisy but it is a pub below.
Review 34:Very convenient location. Friendly staff and of course the locals. We had the Clipper suite so it was fine. Any other rooms, I believe you have to share the bathroom
Review 35:It was not as advertised. Our toilet was across the hall! The room was in need of a good clean, the carpet was filthy, the decor was circa 1980's.The whole place smellt damp. When we arrived we had to wait a couple hours for our room to be ready. We left early, only managed one night.
Review 36:Nothing
Review 37:The entrance, the room had only recently been completed- the shower pump was playing up.The TV was to small. Noise from downstairs in the pub
Review 38:The location of the pub is very good - but, the entrance to the accommodation was very dirty. The bed was good and comfortable
Review 39:The privet toilet are outside the room! The entrance to the rooms area is a bit outdated and needs renovation
Review 40:Location, the shower, the size of the room
Review 41:Room smelt of old smoke and the place felt grubby, I kept my shoes on the whole time. The shower tiles had black grime on them and paint was shabby - the toilet was across the corridor although the shower was ensuite. The bed had definitely seen better days although the bedding was clean. The room was above the bar - very noisy.
Review 42:Location
Review 43:Poor value for money
Review 44:This room had been refurbished so was clean and bright. However there were wires hanging from the wall and the furniture had been hand painted at a very amateurish standard.
Review 45:Entrance and corridors had peeling paint No hotel parking - Public car parks were expensive
Review 46:Great location right in centre of Padstow. Bed comfortable Although right in the centre of the town, there was remarkably little noise
Review 47:The Inn is not an up-market pub so you have to accept foul mouthed noise until closing time. The residents entrance was filthy with engrained, black grime on skirtings & door edges The "free" wifi was non-existent Breakfast only served between 8.30 and 9.00, which is useless for business travellers
Review 48:Tremendous location in the heart of Padstow
Review 49:Location. Noisy. Parking too far.
Review 50:We decided to stay somewhere else as there was no parking in the harbor carpark which the hotel staff asked us to go. Even if we could park there, we could not walk to the hotel with our luggage. It is too far. Very noisy location.
Review 51:The outside toilets for the pub itself need attention - broken drain cover, generally could be cleaner. Walk through to breakfast room meant passing behind bar and kitchen area - again improvement needed - very muddled, didn't appear to be as clean as should be. Pre-order forms for breakfast only given once - likewise room not serviced every day- wd have been nice to have clean cups and more milk.
Review 52:Room was nice, bedding and bathroom clean. Owner/guy serving breakfast helpful and nice guy - maybe needs more support. Liked actual bar area, good atmosphere but didn't spend as much time/money there as would have if loos etc were better.
Review 53:No Wifi, aparently broke. Toilet down the alley as massive but mouldy in a 1970s Rising damp theme. Bed squeeked and creeked. Parking was ot great but this is an issue in Padstow, not the hotel. The view over the back of the hotel and the stairwell was litter strewn and filthy. Rats paradise....
Review 54:Breakfast was superb. Full of Character.
Review 55:Everything! The room was large and spotless, bathroom perfect. Staff couldn't do enough to help and always friendly and cheerful. Thanks especially to Tim and Anna.
Review 56:Dreadful place. The rooms are very very tired and in need of an urgent upgrade. The exterior is filthy and in need of a good scrub. Green slime everywhere. The rooms are nothing like the pictures. Very disappointing. Wi fi didn't work.
Review 57:location
Review 58:Room and bathroom was in poor condition. Rust in shower, power shower on/off button missing, drawers broken. 'Wifi everywhere' certainly wasn't. Breakfast only between 08:30 and 09:00 which is little use to a business traveller. Vastly overpriced and I apparently got a 'deal'
Review 59:Understaffing meant the staff were very busy and not very happy. The ensuite had pubic hair in the bathroom, better trained staff would have noticed this.
Review 60:Quaint looking and nice bar. Room was nicely presented.
Review 61:We booked a superior room for our wedding anniversary but the room was anything but superior so we didn't stay they were quick enough to take the money though
Review 62:Room in need of major tlc, appreciate works in progress but cleanliness not up to scratch, parts looked like hadn't been cleaned in ages, also bit smelly.
Review 63:Good location in heart of Padstow
Review 64:You could hear every conversation downstairs from our room, our shower area needed updating (king-size room)
Review 65:We liked the location. The king size bed was very comfy, and breakfast was lovely. They also had an outdoor decked area to drink outside.
Review 66:Everything!!! The room we booked did not specify that the bedroom was down the corridor from the bathroom completely separat. When I advised this wasn't satisfactory, I was just told I was lucky to have a bathroom facilities in Padstow, rather bizarre as most of the residents appeared to be clean! The bed must have been 20 years old, you couldn't move your big toe without the springs making herendous noises. Also the room was located directly above the bar area, we might as well have been in the pub, the noise was awful, needless to say we didn't get a wink of sleep. There is one room that has been reburshed and is ensuite which our friends were lucky enough to stay in however, the shower did not work! I would not recommend this place at all.
Review 67:Only the location of the building
Review 68:The very squeaky bed frame, which reminded us of staying at granny's house. But, this was easily solved when we took the double bed mattress and put it on the floor, while leaning the bed frame up against the wall for the night. Sorted! The frame just needs its nuts & bolts tightening by the handyman
Review 69:Affordable location, right in the centre of town
Review 70:When I booked this accommodation for my parents I paid for an up grade on the room. When they were shown to their room it was a dark room at the back of the property that smelt of damp . There was mould on the curtains which we have photographed and a piece of wet pipe boxing near the shower tray that was hanging off. The room did not look anything like the picture on the website. I am bitterly disappointed because I booked this place for them because it looked so nice. The golden lion across the road is by Far better accommodation.
Review 71:The location.
Review 72:Extremely Noisy beyond comprehension. The rooms are only suitable if you are planning on sleeping when the bar is closed. Stayed in room That was directly above the back door which is constantly banging from customers using the toilets & terrace. Noise from the bar & terrace is so noisy (including chanting groups) that you cannot even hear the TV. It really does feel like you are sleeping in the bar. To make matters worse we were woken at 7am as the staff were playing trance music whilst preparing for breakfast. Not really worth it. Pay the extra & stay in a more refined establishment unless you are there to party.
Review 73:Breakfast is ok & location is convenient.
Review 74:Having the toilet across the hall meant making sure you didn't lock yourself out of the room. Noise from pub wasn't too bad.
Review 75:Free toiletries. 5 cask ales in the pub. Locals in the pub. Choice at breakfast.
Review 76:We had a separate toilet to our room. It would be easy to extend the bathroom to include a toilet. Noise, there was live music in the bar below us which went on until 12. Tiny t.v. fixed high up on wall so had to crick our necks. Creaky bed and damp smelling shower. My sister's room had a shower that was full of mildew and she had an extension lead connecting lights and kettle!
Review 77:Central location. Pleasant staff
Review 78:The room description needs revision. TV didn't work. Shower had damp musty smell. private toilet across the hall would benefit having a key to be able to lock from outside. The door didn't close properly so anyone could have used it. laundry bags left in hall, we had to step over. Residents entrance not very nice. Old rubbish (mattresses) etc lying on flat roof could be seen from hall window. Table booked for 7.30 to then find most of the stuff on the menu was unavailable. No wifi in rooms. Only in the bar
Review 79:The central location was all that this hotel has going for it. It looks beautiful from the outside.
Review 80:Lacked a woman's touch in places regarding cleanliness. A disturbed nights sleep due to a creaky flimsy bed! Limited breakfast time 08:30-09:00
Review 81:Location was great, Padstow is lovely. Lot's going on in the town with some great places to eat.
Review 82:Needed redecorating and bathroom could do with redoing due to broken shower and tiles.
Review 83:The location was fantastic. Right in the centre of Padstow, easy to pop back with bags etc.
Review 84:Toilets outside room, tho each room had their own. Hadn't realised this when booking. General feeling inside is it could do with an good lick of paint, gives the feeling of being a bit grubby and in need of a good scrub. Towels very thin. But still had a great time.
Review 85:Staff were brill and breakfast excellent
Review 86:Unfortunately, no air-conditioning or mini bar fridge. The room was quite warm and had no cool air-flow. Hard to keep drinks cool. Parking out front of pub very limited for offloading of bags. Lane is about 4 - 5 m wide.
Review 87:Quaint Cornish pub. Cold Cornish beer. Close to lots of great restaurants and other pubs if you feel like a change of scenery.
Review 88:room very grubby needs decorating bathroom terrible mould on tiles and shower cubicle needs ripping out and redoing
Review 89:breakfast was good staff friendly. location excellent
Review 90:The bed was comfortable but screaching everytime you turned around, waking the other one! Busy pub equal noisy room (you hear everything!) but closes early, so no real problem. Breakfast is odd, you choose the night before what you want cooked, and you can easily wait 30 min before its your turn to be served.
Review 91:Locatin great, in the middle of everything. Clean room with everything you needed. The pub downstairs is busy and charming.
Review 92:The room was very tired, it looked very well used & as a consequence looked dirty, although it wasn't. It's a shame as the hotel didn't live up to the photographs on booking.com
Review 93:The breakfast was really good & the service & hospitality were also great
Review 94:Booked a room with private bathroom, assumed it would be ensuite but bedroom and bathroom were at opposite ends of the hallway! The room was pleasant and clean but the bed was the squeakiest I have ever slept in! Definitely not one for anyone on honeymoon....
Review 95:Brilliant location just around the corner from the harbour. Homely traditional pub. We didn't eat here in the evening as they were very busy, but the food looked good. Breakfast was tasty and freshly cooked.
Review 96:Breakfast - given it took a long time to arrive was just warm and included low value sausages, bread. Better quality food served hot would have finished off a good stay here.
Review 97:Very central, very clean and lovely flowers.
Review 98:Metal bed frame speaking and terrible mattress equalled terrible nights sleep. Bathroom not just outside toom but u have to go past other rooms to get to it. Shower was the filthiest Id ever seen. Seriously needed mould removal. Couldn't face using it. Disgraceful.
Review 99:Great little pub, lovely location in centre of everything.
Review 100:No, all good.
Review 101:Great beer in a "proper" pub.Very helpful staff who allowed us to leave our luggage for a few hours. Good breakfast and fabulous crab sandwiches!
Review 102:Accessibility from Car Park Cost of Parking No workable Wi-Fi Half Hour Window for Breakfast and having to make selection the night before State of the Bathroom Cancellation Criteria
Review 103:Good Beer
Review 104:Evening staff and meal. Room described as Superior King Room! Wallpaper pealing grubby carpet and rusty shower, dismal deco.Wifi not available.
Review 105:The only thing was the location.
Review 106:There is nothing we didn't like about this pub.
Review 107:We stayed in the Clipper room which had recently been refurbished and it was very tastefully done. The room was big with lots of room for clothes. Breakfast was very tasty. The pub has so much character. The landlord works very hard. We would definitely stay there again.
Review 108:The bedroom was spacious but the bathroom could do with a facelift
Review 109:The location is right in the middle of town the staff friendly and the bar lively. We ate in the bar and the food was lovely as was the breakfast.
Review 110:Nothing really, there is a bit of noise but that is inevitable considering the location and quickly dies away around midnight.
Review 111:Location and breakfast, my wife said the eggs benedicts were the best he's ever had.
Review 112:The bed was saggy and a bit squeaky, and the room was quite noisy (more so than in other pubs I've stayed in). But, the landlord did try to fix the bed a little on the second day. Overall, still good value.
Review 113:Breakfast and location were amazing; good value for Padstow.
Review 114:Busy pub with no sound insulation between pub and room. Bed very squeeky everytime you turned over
Review 115:good central location. Good breakfast. Value for moneya
Review 116:We were in The Ketch. This room seriously needs decorating. We would not stay here again
Review 117:The bar was really good, although very noisy on the Saturday night
Review 118:Shower base filled up too high and nearly flooded over a few times. Door doesn't fully reach it's frame, and so if someone wanted to they could look into our room.
Review 119:Great location. Friendly staff. Slept very well.
Review 120:the pub is very old nice that's ok ,but hall ways and rooms up stairs need updating and it was a bit on the cold side ...
Review 121:very central to all of harbour parking in car park no problem staff friendly smashing breakfasts choice of full English or. eggs benedict or scramble eggs on toast tomato's 2 rashers bacon ,,,,
Review 122:the bed is quite firm which I didn't like but partner did, the walls are thin and beds creaky so could hear everything going on in room next door plus the pub below but didn't bother us as we were going to bed late anyway and waking up early. Also the curtains were thin so room was bright in the night.
Review 123:Friendly staff, lovely 2 course breakfast, offered more tea and toast. Clean room with tea coffee and water, towels replaced and rooms cleaned daily. Excellent location 2 mins from harbour.
Review 124:I liked the London Inn. It's in a great location and was exactly what we needed as a base for somewhere to stay. Don't be put off by the other reviews as if you're looking for luxury go and pay more for it elsewhere. Don't complain about the bird noises as its a working dock village, so get used to it or go somewhere else. If you want to explore and just want a bed and a good breakfast then go here.
Review 125:Our room had a seperate toilet but it wasn't a bad thing. We knew it had when we booked and the others are ensuite I think but it was fine for us.
Review 126:The staff were lovely, the location was perfect and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was amazing, shower hot and powerful.
Review 127:No where to park then had to pay for overnight car park £7.00 which meant extra cost, could sleep very well from the noise from the Bar below, wouldn't use them again, also l don't think l would use Booking.Com again either very poor Inn, as l stay in quite a few Hotels during a month l must say this is the worse one, hence the next Hotel won't be with Booking.com
Review 128:Not much really other than the staff were okay
Review 129:The only downside it the parking cost, though it was only 2 min walk from the London inn.
Review 130:The location of the London inn was fantastic, with only a 1 min walk to the harbour
Review 131:Not having all facilities on the room. Not a huge deal but I was surprised about how uncomfortable I felt using the loo on the landing! However if I was staying in Padstow again I would see if The London had any rooms first.
Review 132:Very central location which was great. The crew at The London were very friendly, helpful and professional. Eggs Benedict was fab!
Review 133:There was a street light outside our window and you could here everything in the bar below.
Review 134:The location was good and the food was great and the staff were friendly.
Review 135:The staff weren't very welcoming. The bedroom was very noisey- banging doors, conversations etc. The internet didn't work in our bedroom. The bathroom was cold and didn't have a radiator, the shower and tiles were cracked, old and poorly maintained. I wasn't given a receipt on leaving.
Review 136:There was tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The TV worked. There was an open fire in the bar where we ate dinner. We slept reasonably well, after all the noise stopped.
Review 137:needs updating badly. rooms could do with feature wall paper or paint to look homely. shower was very small and cracked, shelf was nearly off the wall and towels very small too. no dressing gowns and only a put up rail to hang coats etc. furniture looked nice but didnt open and shut properly .had a little noise from downstairs but wouldnt like to stay in height of summer months
Review 138:the kingsize bed was clean and very comfortable. breakfast was lovely with toast(didnt get a choice of white or brown )had butter and condiments but would of liked tomatoes and black pudding.we had refills of tea and coffee and good choice of cereals and fresh juice.
Review 139:Didn't like the fact that breakfast was only served between 08.30 and 09.00 more flexibility until 10.00 would have put the icing on the cake.
Review 140:I liked the location the staff and value for money.
Review 141:Tired building, soft uneven bed, cold, poor furnishings, freezing shower room, inadequate door fittings and lock, poor separate toilet across a landing.
Review 142:location is the only advantage
Review 143:we had a meal in the restaurant in the evening and it was very cold several people sat down and went remarking it was to cold thats not good for your business
Review 144:it all was very good for the price we paid, good value, would come again, but if its cold don't think we will eat in restaurant if no fire
Review 145:Rooms suffer noise from bars below - even people talking is audible (and they have live music sometimes!). Restaurant area a little chilly (mid November).
Review 146:Location is great - right in the heart of Padstow. Good choice of real ale in the bar. Menu was a little limited but food is a good standard - very nice full English breakfast.
The Fine Print
Please note that rooms are located above the pub so there may be some noise when the pub is busy.
