Reviews for Cosmopolitan Hotel

Review 1:The bad experience was the loud music which could be heard from our room which was situated on the third floor. Even though I asked for a quite room we could still hear loud music.

Review 2:The hotel is good value for money and very central to shopping centres and train station. Staff helpful and friendly.I recommend this hotel. Room was upgraded at no extra cost.

Review 3:couldn't have been more welcoming, comfortable and friendly. I travel all the time, at least once a week- and this is one of the nicest places I have ever stayed in. It predicted everything I could need in advance. Also it felt homely and not soulless. Had a lovely stay. Thank to the staff.

Review 4:The staff wasn't friendly. Room service finishes at 9:45pm and we were not informed, even if we mentioned upon check in that we were planning to order something at night. Also the check out time is at 11 and at 11:05 we had a lady from housekeeping knocking our door saying that we had to leave the room because the check out time was 15 minutes ago.

Review 5:The room are quite spacious and the location it's perfect

Review 6:I returned to my room at midnight to fine no hot water due to the hour I didnt report it think it would warm up for the morning.. but.still stone cold...reported this when checking out (unwashed) no apology or signs of concern..just said "would look into it".......will be intrested if I get any furthur contact or response......

Review 7:Location

Review 8:We had a meal the first evening it was not good, In fact I would say mine was particularly poor so we ate out the other two nights

Review 9:The location the hotel was fine the staff were friendly plus it was clean

Review 10:Room was very tired. Stains on the ceilings throughout, floor tiles cracked and dirty in between. Didn't like having to run the hot tap for 5+ minutes before being able to use the shower...waste of water.

Review 11:Location was perfect. Staff friendly.

Review 12:The staff were very welcoming and made us feel comfortable in the hotel, When waking up late, the staff were very accomodating allowing us to check out a little later than what our set time was!

Review 13:The place is living in the stone ages ... Needs full modernisation and a complete overhaul especially for central Leeds hotel to keep up with the competition ... The walls were paper thin! Not gud value for money

Review 14:The staff and location were great

Review 15:The dressing gown provided really ought to be thrown out as it was rough and ripped.

Review 16:Free breakfast due to the lack of electricity and the extension on the check out time. The staffs ability to deal with this situation was very well executed.

Review 17:The downstairs area of the hotel is beautiful but the hotel rooms are somewhat outdated..

Review 18:The staff are very friendly, our room was upgraded to king size which was lovely and the bed was really comfy. Area is excellent, bang in the centre of Leeds. I would stay here again!

Review 19:Didn't enjoy the breakfast, not much room in the buffet area, bacon was more fat than meat, not normally the sort to complain, but was disappointing.

Review 20:Lovely hotel, friendly staff, very clean and comfortable

Review 21:Our room was quiet except for the rubbish trucks. We expect a little noise in the city center but some people might want to ask for a room off the Main Street.

Review 22:Room was recently renovated and very nice. Front desk staff was wonderful and we were offered a complimentary glass of wine on arrival! Eyeshades and ear plugs in the room was a nice touch.

Review 23:Electricity went off for half an hour - not one member of staff said - we are working to get it back on - no offer of a torch! or come into the bar and have a drink on us! member of staff on breakfast duty was very poe faced

Review 24:contacted us when there had been flooding in the area and no electricity. risked it and electricity came back on.

Review 25:The staff were really rude. They had overbooked the rooms and were very loudly talking about where they could "shove" the guests

Review 26:The location. It's perfect

Review 27:Unfortunately the trip turned into a nightmare. There was a power cut around 18:20hrs. I know there is not a lot the staff can do with a power cut but they had not a lot of regard for the customers, at 21:00hrs I asked what was happening and I asked to be rehoused in a different hotel, we were sent to the Travelodge I guessed for the cheap rooms. I paid £86.00 for the room and breakfast. We did not get breakfast at the Travelodge, we had had enough by then. I was not happy with sitting in our room for nearly 3 hours, they could of asked us to sit in the dinning room, no one came to our room to check on us which I thought was poor customer care through poor planning for such an event.

Review 28:The Location

Review 29:There were cheaper hotels in the area but they were booked, and my view was of the bins and discarded mattresses to the rear of the hotel.

Review 30:Convenient for train travellers

Review 31:1. No wifi signals in our room (despite what was promised), 2. Bad/no ventilation, room got very damp, especially after showers. And not possible to open window!

Review 32:Excellent location, nice staff, nice bed

Review 33:Nothing it's a lovely hotel

Review 34:Location, room size bathroom lighting, compatable bed and very clean, well done to the staff and I'll be coming back for more

Review 35:The room i was given was on the first floor on the inside of the hotel with the window next to many large outlet pipes, The main problem was the heat in the room this was exceptionally uncomfortable which made it difficult to sleep wasn't unlike a sauna, could only sleep on the top of the covers and still uncomfortable and this was December I would stay at this hotel again but would ask for a room on the outside of the Hotel away from these outlets.

Review 36:Staff very friendly, Location good for shopping, Socializing. Hotel has a good atmosphere.

Review 37:nothing we did not like

Review 38:the hotel was a surprise for a city centerhotel. very good value, very friendly staff in all areas. the beds were sufficient and comfortable enough. i am light sleeper and there was some background noise from local bars but nothing to get concerned about. breakfast was also very good. would reccomend to anyone wanting a good city center hotel. we will definettly stay again

Review 39:I think it's a bit expensive for the standard, but there's really nothing wrong with the hotel. there aren't any facilities as such beyond the restaurant/bar, which is fine.

Review 40:It's quite a good location, just off Lower Briggate, which is very close to the City Centre, shopping, and the train station. The area is a bit seedy but gentrified -- feels safe, and there are bars, restaurants, etc, including LGBT spaces. The hotel is fine. I was on the second floor which is super gaudy in design but it's perfectly comfortable.

Review 41:Room had a lot of traffic noise from street. The secondary glazing did not really do its job. I woke up three times during the night due to traffic noise.

Review 42:Good location.

Review 43:The only downside was the noise at night particularly on a Friday, however being so close to the city centre we should've realised, it was bearable just the only downside

Review 44:Very close to the city centre and the train station - 3 minute walk, beds were comfy rooms were were decorated tastefully, the bar was nice to sit in and the shower was very powerful

Review 45:Room was clean but in need of refurbishment. Stayed in December and had to request fan as heat was unbearable. Breakfast was quite poor.

Review 46:Close location to station and nice bar.

Review 47:Early morning bin collection though I believe this is being addressed.

Review 48:Friendliness, informative and helpful staff (all shifts) Spacious clean and well equipped room.

Review 49:The only problem and it was a big problem was the noise from the night club next door which went on until 7.30am= no sleep!

Review 50:Lovely room, nice atmosphere, everything catered for.

Review 51:Very noisy in the corridors. Couple in the next room kept us awake from 3am until 5.30am arguing.

Review 52:The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in!

Review 53:Our room was above the conference room where there was a Christmas party on till 0100. When I told staff the next morning no apology was offered and the response was a rude and surly 'Well that's what you get for booking a city centre hotel!'

Review 54:Nice and clean hotel with good bar, and walking distance to German markets and town centre.

Review 55:Room extremely hot, had to use the ceiling fan to try to cool it down but it was extremely noisy so didn't sleep very well.

Review 56:Staff extremely helpful and had a sandwich lunch in the bar which was very nice and good value.

Review 57:Bass from nightclub under the hotel was rediculous. Noise from trains the next morning were very noisy. Breakfast could do with some work, but no worse than many other places around Leeds.

Review 58:Staff were excellent.

Review 59:It was my first stay at the Cosmopolitan Hotel.I booked for myself Double room and upon my arrival i have been upgraded into Delux king room.I absolutely loved it.The most comfortable and huge bed i have ever slept in.I am huge fun of this hotel and decided that everytime i will have to stay overnight in Leeds i will be staying in this hotel.Stuff were very helpful and extremely nice and pleasant as well as my stay there.Excellent experiance :)

Review 60:There was nothing i didn't like, i was out so late the noise from the clubs didn't bother me at all :)

Review 61:The staff were very friendly, the drinks were very reasonably priced and the bed was very comfortable

Review 62:dirty bathrobe. a bit tight with the biscuits 1 pack for 2 guests .noise from the trains and some kind of fan switching on and off on a timer through the night.when booking did not say on web site about paying for carpark. carpark voucher not accepted so cost more.

Review 63:big bed and comfy warm room . close to city centre. staff helpful and friendly from start of our stay.

Review 64:the room I was in was right next to a nigh club that had Tuesday night student night going on till 3:30 in the morning, plus half hour of loud women and men shouting afterwards. kept me up till 4 that night :(

Review 65:Last minute booking with affordable price.

Review 66:The room's window was not sound proof therefore I could hear the nearby nightclub and the buses brakes' when they pulled up at the traffic lights just below during the night. . Decor a bit tired but adequate.

Review 67:Great staff, very helpful, central location

Review 68:Nothing.

Review 69:Great for the price as always, staff a pleasure to deal with. Arrived an hour early, checking in no problem and unlike some hotels no request for early check in fee.

Review 70:The loud bass music emanating, non stop, from a local nightclub until 8:00am on Sunday Morning

Review 71:Comfortable beds, excellent staff service and Superb Quality of the evening meal, Bar prices, too, reasonable for hotel rates. Also the proximity to the mainline BR station & City Centre.

Review 72:The noise coming from the street is incredible then there was the fire alarm testing in the morning without letting us know in advance. It really freaked us out.

Review 73:The location is very good, near the train station and short walk from the city centre.

Review 74:One member of staff waiting on in bar and restaurant,(called Sarah?). Never smiled as she plonked menus on table after I had to ask for them and never explained that you had to go to bar to order food. Very unprofessional in dealing with us as her customers. I ordered cocktails and these were again plonked down on table with no drinks mats/cocktails sticks/ or straws. I got them myself from bar counter! Needless to say on returning to hotel late in evening we took our drinks up to the room rather than sit in the bar, which surprisingly was empty! It is such a pity her manner let down an otherwise professional and friendly team

Review 75:Location, extremely helpful and friendly reception staff. I would use hotel again despite one member of staff, I was determined she wasn't going to spoil our stay.

Review 76:Awkward parking; ended up paying way over the odds due to a mix-up. Hotel staff not at fault for this, just the car park staff incorrectly advised me. Some rooms above/close to a late night bar and loud music.

Review 77:Great Location.

Review 78:The room was uncomfortably small, we had to leave shopping bags in our car so that we could get in/out of the bathroom and the room. Breakfast was over priced in comparison to other hotels

Review 79:Staff were a bit hit or miss. Bar staff not interested in customers, more interested in flirting with reception staff or checking their mobile phones. Although clean, the bathroom could do with some tlc, stained grouting and cracked ceiling that looked like it was close to falling! A lot of noise outside the property all night long from adjacent bars.

Review 80:Great location for Leeds city centre. Big room Powerful shower.

Review 81:Quite loud, but worth it for close proximity. Woken by fire alarm going off for short time.

Review 82:Good proximity to shops and bars. Very clean and comfortable, pleasant staff.

Review 83:After such a warm welcome it was such a shame that some staff lacked simple levels of engagement, One poor lady making my cocktails couldn't even manage a smile or made little effort to engage in my attempts at a conversation. One of the cleaning staff stared at me when I smiled at her. As a Duty Manger at a large International Airport and having travelled the world staying in many hotels over a 25 year period staff should at least understand the basics. A smile is all it takes!

Review 84:A comfortable hotel, reasonably priced and a perfect location to explore Leeds. The hotel has been upgraded and the reception area and lounge/bar, restaurant is pleasant. The room we utilised was a little dated but perfectly acceptable. The toilet flush was broken but we managed to fix it. A warm welcome was experienced initially and a complimentary glass of wine was offered- a nice touch. Continental breakfast was ordered to the room after a decent night's sleep and the service was prompt and professional. I would stay here again.

Review 85:The room and bathroom were not very clean, I was too busy to pick up at the time. The decorations etc were all very tired and the colour scheme was just about the worst I'd seen

Review 86:A glass of wine on arrival!

Review 87:radiator in room didnt work. bathroom very dated and in need of modernising.

Review 88:good spacious bedroom in the king room. friendly and helpful staff. very nice bar and restaraunt.

Review 89:The king bed was so very comfortable. Room was supplied with FS Tv, trouser press, iron & board, tea coffee & biscuits. Bathroom had quality products supplied, soaps, shampoos, sewing kits etc. Fabulous dressing gowns and pristine bedding & towels.

Review 90:Kitchen staff forgot to switch off the kitchen extractor so it was left running all night. The night porter can switch it off only I didn't know that!!

Review 91:The staff were most apologetic and paid my car park fed by way of an apology. I've stayed three previous times at this hotel without any issues.

Review 92:Whilst not a high priority - we were a trifle disappointed with the untidy state of the view out from the window to the back of the Hotel - where the state of the bins & rubbish did not project a good image for the business

Review 93:Smiling helpful Reception staff & all others we came in touch with at the bar and at Breakfast. Extremely pleased with the King room and overall decor of the Hotel & our room. Our stay ended with a very satisfactory quality breakfast with good choices from continental to full english.

Review 94:The waiter was not interested and got things wrong and tried to say we were wrong. he ignored us unless we caught his eye. The view from the room was terrible and I had paid more for the king size room.

Review 95:The food for the evening meal was excellent

Review 96:Parking is at a nearby public car park with very high charges. Even with the hotel's discounted parking rate I paid £31 for 48 hours' parking so that needs to be factored in when considering overall costs. On leaving, hotel reception wrongly issued only a 24 hour ticket which resulted in the exit machine demanding a further £20 and my being trapped in my car at the car park exit barrier - very frustrating and embarrassing experience.

Review 97:Central location, clean roon, good shower. Helpful receptionist.

Review 98:Very close to a night club which closed at 6 AM on the night I stayed there. A warning of this would have been nice, since I forgot to pack earplugs and the hotel did not have any. The heating in my room wasn't working, but the staff sorted me out with a plug-in heater straight away.

Review 99:Excellent room for the price, quite a large single room compared to most other hotels. Bathroom was also pretty big and the shower had excellent water pressure. Very nice commodities in the bath, including bath salts. Staff were very nice and helpful.

Review 100:Beds a bit small in double roomsided. And pushed up to walls making it a bit awkward to get in and out of the bed during the night.

Review 101:The location to the city. Second time stopped there.

Review 102:Only bad thing was that the room (particularly the one I was in) didn't block out the noise from outside. There are a few clubs nearby and you can hear the thumping music way into the night.

Review 103:Friendly staff, nice room, very comfortable bed, very close to the Trinity shopping centre

Review 104:The hotel backs onto a rail track and trains would be going past all night, there's also a night club playing loud music til 3am, the walls of the room are thin so you can here people talking and going to their rooms, the room was cold and drafty, the bathroom looks as though it's not been renovated since the 80s generally I didn't get a 4 star feel from the quality of the room.

Review 105:I like the location

Review 106:Loud music late at night, coming from a disco just outside our window, didn't help towards getting to sleep!

Review 107:Very friendly and helpful staff, comfortable room, lovely premises.

Review 108:Wasn't happy that the first room we had was to the rear, on a busy corridor and the window faced a club with an open door so booming music made it impossible to sleep. Fortunately staff changed it but I feel I should've been warned prior; the music goes until 1am. Hotel could also do with some love and needs renovation, even if it's still otherwise clean and well kept.

Review 109:Good central location and staff were friendly and understanding of issues. Rooms were clean and beds well made and comfortable; our second room at the front of the hotel was nice and quiet to boot. Breakfast was well worth the extra money and kept my energy up the second day.

Review 110:The traffic and club outside were a bit noisy over the weekend and the windows weren't very airtight.

Review 111:The room was beautiful, extremely comfortable bed, lovely bathroom, location was perfect for my needs and everything worked great!

Review 112:4 items on menu not available on first night. Only two items on sweet menu on second night. Average restaurant spend £50 pppn including bottle of wine.Very dark room, had very high window with no way of raising venetian blind and secondary glazing did not fit

Review 113:Cleanliness of room. Some staff very friendly.

Review 114:The rooms are small and furnished with small double beds making it a bit cramped when sharing.

Review 115:The location of this hotel is fantastic and it is clean and comfortable

Review 116:Hair in the bath tub

Review 117:There was a lot of hair in the bath tub and fire alarm went off very early in the room next door but apart from that it was excellent

Review 118:The hotel was extremely noisy. We were kept awake by music blaring from nearby and heavy footed people above and after a night of very little sleep we were awoken by fire alarm testing.

Review 119:The hotel was well located and the staff that greeted us were friendly and helpful in allowing us early check-in.

Review 120:The room was far, far too hot. Breakfast mediocre. On the first Friday of every month, this hotel is a meeting place for partying transvestites which may not be to everybody's taste.

Review 121:The location

Review 122:Room was noisy from adjacent kitchen extraction and too warm for a really comfortable night...get these points sorted and it would improve things...

Review 123:Food was pleasant...

Review 124:Anything else. In dire need of updating. Warm water coming out if both sink taps. No working radiator. Plug in heater. Broken bathroom fan, very loud. Cracked tiles / sink. Windows don't shut properly. And despite asking for a quiet room, and putting the do not disturb sign on, I was woken at 8am by a man directly outside my door with a stepladder, sawing the wood and drilling holes in the ceiling. Asked him to stop, he then came back half an hour later. Staff at reception in morning were at least pleasant. Really not worth £79. Sadly.

Review 125:That it was near the station, and the bed was comfortable.

Review 126:The price. At £109 for room only I think it was expensive for Leeds as we pay exactly that price for London.

Review 127:Nice bar and breakfast. Lovely clean room

Review 128:The noise of outside sounded like dustbin men woke us at 7:15!

Review 129:It had a bath generous size towels Comfy bed (King) Room was at a nice temp Lovely heavy curtains which kept the room warm and blocked out light Ironing facilities Pretty big tv for a hotel room Deffernatly stay again

Review 130:The room was to hot but just opened the window.

Review 131:Excellent location and very friendly staff. Couldn't ask for more for the price. I would definitely stay there again.

Review 132:Reception Lady was very welcoming and just was very clear on everything available to us. Reception man who had took over on the nightime shift, was also very helpful in giving us directions and when we had a problem with our room

Review 133:Surprisingly small room, very dusty, the window didn't open and it was a very stuffy evening. The tv wasn't tuned ether, so took ages before we found a signal! And a squeaky bed to boot.

Review 134:Great location, good first impression in the foyer. Nice enough finishings in the room.

Review 135:Being woken at 5.15 by the bin Larry and subsequent further noise because of the poor double glazing.

Review 136:Good central location. Friendly staff and clean room

Review 137:The room was cold, didn't seem to heat up

Review 138:Friendly welcome by staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Nice modern room, which was very quiet. Nice touches - offered a glass of wine and dressing gown in room :)

Review 139:No wifi reception in room which was not particularly clean. To her credit though, the receptionist moved me to a much nicer room after the first night.

Review 140:Service was excellent

Review 141:We didn't know about the Q car park therefore it cost us £20. We didn't have any heating in our room overnight which had been looked into and we were happy with the refund offered.

Review 142:This hotel is central which was great as this was our first time in Leeds.Room was lovely and big and very clean. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Review 143:hotel advertised parking. this was subsadised parking at the Qpark over the road.

Review 144:location near to station university and shops meant it was exellent for our weekend stay to attend a confrence at the university and for eating out and shopping while we were there
