Reviews for Hotel Savoy

Review 1:2nd time I've stayed at The Savoy when travelling back to Jersey to see Family and Friends. Staff are friendly and the hotel is cosy and just right. The jazz bar is worth a visit.

Review 2:The staff were pleasant, but lazy and incompetent. They neither were good at their jobs nor did they seem to care. It looked like high-school students operating a hotel as a hobby.

Review 3:Dinner at Montana was fantastic. I found the property quite beautiful--elegant and well-kept. Room was quiet, large, and bathroom was large. There was lots of storage space.

Review 4:i booked this hotel because they had a jazz bar but they had cancelled all entertainment there was no christmas dinner only a buffet i would have chose another hotel if i had known

Review 5:staff were very helpful and friendly

Review 6:Room was a little small and as it was at the front a little noisy at times.....but both minor things!

Review 7:The friendly staff, comfortable bed and the delicious breakfast

Review 8:For a business trip, it was very disappointing that breakfast could not be served before 7 o'clock despite requesting simply cold breakfast. Subsequently, I had to miss breakfast despite paying for it with the cost of accommodation.

Review 9:The room was very nice and the bed was comfortable providing a good nights sleep.

Review 10:Lift wasn't working and I was on top floor. I wasn't asked if this was manageable-presume cos l look healthy but I actually struggle with stairs due to arthritis. I managed it but would have been nice to have been asked. Lounge area was closed off 2 nights due to private functions- price for this hotel greatly reduced at this time of year but would have been nice to have known in advance that areas of hotel would not be available. Noise outside room 44 at night which seems to be related to heating system as settles down at around 11.30

Review 11:I arrived much earlier than expected and room was made available for 10.30am and I was provided with drink while waiting. Staff always available to answer any request. Only ate breakfasts but food of high standard

Review 12:Our cards didn't work and we were stuck outside the room several times, it took a very long time to resolve. There is no fridge, which was very annoying as couldn't have cold drinks. The kettle leaks and ended up burning and scarring my leg. Absolutely horrible experience for The Savoy, will not return.

Review 13:The room was big and comfortable.

Review 14:There was some sort of leak behind the sink which left a small pool of water after use. No major issue nonetheless.

Review 15:Very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast and great restaurant as well. Had a great casual burger during jazz night on a Friday.

Review 16:The room was not sound proof.

Review 17:Breakfast was very nice. Staff were helpful and friendly. The location was quiet , 10 mins walking from city centre. My bf and I loved it. I'll definitely go back to Savoy if I go to Jersey again. Very lovely stay!

Review 18:Shower in room poor - head needed replacing/cleaning Staff very helpful but lacked attention to detail (eg had to ask 3 times before we got water with our meal)

Review 19:Food good especially in main restaurant. Live entertainment Friday & Saturday evenings

Review 20:On arrival the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. We stayed in a superior room which was a gorgeous room. The bathroom was amazing and so clean. Breakfast was good and the evening meal in the jazz restaurant was lovely. We had a fantastic time.

Review 21:We had a problem with the size of our duvet, but as soon we pointed it out it was solved immediately

Review 22:The comfort of the hotel and the standard of the catering.

Review 23:Wi-fi signal strength could have been better. The shower screen left a gap which allowed some water to run out onto the floor.

Review 24:Nice friendly staff, comfortable room that wasn't cold. Decent parking and location. The breakfast was also nice, with a good range of teas. Would recommend.

Review 25:We were located on the second floor, the stairs were steep and my wife suffers from a respiratory problem. The lift was being replaced and was not operational untill a week after we left. It was a struggle to the room. The carpet in the room was a bit stained. The bathroom window needed replacing as there was mould growing between the double glazing.

Review 26:All staff very friendly and attentative.

Review 27:TV reception not good - kept cutting out. Took ages to access the free wifi.

Review 28:Overall a very high quality hotel. Rooms are well presented, food is excellent, and staff are welcoming. Oh and good value for money

Review 29:The walls seem to be not quite thick... We could hear other people talking in other rooms.

Review 30:It is definitely very good for the price we paid. Excellent facilities and staff! And thank you for the free upgrade!

Review 31:Room could do with an update. Shower pressure is poor and bathroom window needs a privacy blind.

Review 32:Staff are exceptionally polite. Food served is to a high standard. Rooms are spotlessly clean

Review 33:Hotel was dated, and needed a refresh. Bedroom/bathroom likewise - 70's bathroom furniture, shower off the taps (not impressive for a 4* hotel)

Review 34:Clean, tidy and value for money

Review 35:Excellent value for money. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Good location; the centre of town was a 10 minute walk away but there was a bus stop outside for the less active. The restaurant served delicious food at a very reasonable price. Will definitely return.

Review 36:A little bit of a walk out of town, but manageable.

Review 37:Excellent food with first class presentation on the plate, for both breakfast and dinner. Comfortable bedroom. A large lounge for guests for pre dinner drinks or reading quietly.

Review 38:Lack no fizzy soft drinks in the bar. Am yeah total and don't drink fizzy drinks

Review 39:The hotel was quiet on a night. The staff went out of their way to please us all. Lovely lounge area.

Review 40:silly but my bed was creaky and there was no plug socket next to a mirror so it made drying my hair difficult.

Review 41:Great location, good food and nice atmosphere would definitely stay again.

Review 42:We had a lovely room that was very big, with a huge balcony.it was excellent. We had our wedding reception here 49 years ago,and it was lovely to come back after all that time. The food was really good.

Review 43:My room needed a little tlc, mainly the bathroom. The shower worked fine but the window double glazing was full of water and the water from the shower ran over the bathroom floor no matter how I angled the shower.

Review 44:The staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble. I felt well looked after. The food was also really good and there is a lovely lounge area. My bed was very comfortable and my room was clean well looked a

Review 45:Staff were very friendly. Food in the bar was tasty and arrived quickly. One of our rooms was a bit cold on first night but staff resolved quickly and adjusted heating to suit.

Review 46:pillows were hard, over bath shower quite small. could hear people walking in room above.

Review 47:Excellent hotel ambience with good food & very friendly & helpfull staff.

Review 48:Excellent hotel, great location, staff very friendly nothing to much trouble, rooms comfortable and clean, breakfast and evening meals a delight just right for a stay in st Helier

Review 49:Our friends had a room directly above the bar/restaurant where there was Jazz on two of our three nights with the patio doors open. It made the room very noisy. Because of the Jazz the bar/restaurant was closed to anyone without a booking and they also had a function in the lounge every night of our stay so we were unable to relax anywhere and have a drink in the evening.

Review 50:Nicely situated in St Helier. Very nice breakfast. Good parking.

Review 51:Disappointingly, the hotel pool is only open May to September. I stayed during a very sunny heatwave in early October, but was not allowed to swim. Also, the guest lounge was inexplicably closed for two (out of three) days of my stay, even though there was nothing happening in it. With such good facilities, the management needs to work harder to make them (and keep them) available for guests. My desk lamp exploded during the night, but the night porter did an excellent job of clearing up the glass splinters. Although the food is generally good, the kitchen got a lot of breakfast orders wrong (including mine, and those on neighbouring tables) - more attention to detail needed by the breakfast staff.

Review 52:First and foremost, this is a lovely hotel, with comfortable rooms, friendly staff, and plenty of facilities for relaxing. The bar is comfortable and well stocked, the guest lounge is a wonderful space for sitting, reading, and relaxing, and the food is good. The housekeeping is excellent, with spotlessly clean rooms, serviced quickly but thoroughly. Very positive. Several individual members of staff were exceptional.

Review 53:Very disappointed as was extremely tired after traveling long distance.. I was put into a room that had badly knocking boiler next to it... When I highlighted this the second night they said they are aware but was going to cost them a lot to fix the problem... This I found unfair that they even put guests in this particular room!!!! I was moved to another room but no partial refund or anything a an apology!!!

Review 54:Hotel was quite nice good location

Review 55:Staff are friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was extremely good, great choice of hot and cold. Location good for town centre. Bar area really nice and drinks reasonable

Review 56:Upgraded to a suite, old fashioned and water dripped through the ceiling in 3 places after 2 days of heavy rain. No discount given.

Review 57:10/15 minute walk into town. Lots of staff, good service, cosy bar and restaurant great food. Breakfast excellent .

Review 58:I did not like the breakfast that match wasn't cooked properly and not enough baked beans not worth serving Bacon was too dry not enough taste

Review 59:I liked mostly everything about the Hotel

Review 60:Traveling with a group of friends used my card for booking when checking out we paid cash for our stay We were then informed that the hotel had pre authorised my card and it can take up to 10 working days to go back in to my account so beware!

Review 61:Good location

Review 62:The staff were so friendly. The hotel was home from home with every comfort . It was immaculately clean and I liked the daily biscuits and all the White Stuff toiletries. The flowers everywhere were beautiful and the food delicious.

Review 63:Bath towels need to be bigger.

Review 64:The location of the hotel is very good as a base for a sight seeing holiday. There is ample free car parking and free wi-fi that works throughout the hotel. My room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast had a good choice as did the restaurant in the evening.

Review 65:Breakfast could be a bit chaotic when busy. Some starters at dinner very small servings and hence not good value. Complimentary toiletries not replenished free of charge each day. Bath towels were too small. Room layout (room 99) meant it was difficult to enter and no safe and convenient socket to use kettle.

Review 66:Good menu selection for breakfast. Dinner usually very good. Comfortable Hotel with generally good service and reasonable value.

Review 67:Lounge and swimming pool shut at times when hired for outside functions. Had to try to find bar staff to serve on several occassions. For a 4 star hotel rooms do not have a comfortable seating arrangment. Rooms look out on bare walls with staff walking past windows. Rooms dark as need to keep curtains pulled due to above. Staff polite, but bland.

Review 68:Jazz Nights. Lounge when open

Review 69:A bit disorganised at breakfast. Had to wait to be served but think there was a large coach party in.

Review 70:A reasonably good location. Room was nice and had everything we needed.

Review 71:The smelly vaporisers in the ladies loo and corridors So unnecessary and bad fr someone like me with a lung condition.

Review 72:Excellent staff, very comfortable rooms

Review 73:Heating not on and no heated towel rail but they did provide a portable heater. Early breakfast only provided by room service at a £2.75 pp tray charge and therefore missed breakfast on 2 out of 4 mornings!

Review 74:Very comfortable bed and quiet room. Good location. Friday night set menu and Jazz band - excellent!

Review 75:My only request would be larger / thicker bath towels. The bar area, which is very nice, has limited seating for eating.

Review 76:Good Car Parking was the icing on the cake.

Review 77:Bed too hard.

Review 78:Cleanliness was excellent. Staff were friendly helpful. Eat in the main restaurant and the food was excellent...waiting staff very attentive.

Review 79:Whilst still eating cereal, cooked breakfast was thrust upon us, this we saw happen to a few other guests, we sussed it out and said we would order in a short while. Shower gel replacement didn't exist used 1 bottle that was your lot, for a 4 star hotel maybe they should use cheaper but affordable replaceable makes. Glasses were used but never replaced.

Review 80:Location, food was good.

Review 81:Didn't like the view from our room 30 as it overlooked a roof but someone has to have it and would have liked a bath tub

Review 82:The staff were so friendly and approachable and happy as a team

Review 83:Some noise in ground floor rooms .

Review 84:Lovely hotel, liked modern outlook and interior, jazz nights excellent and all good value. Some noise in ground floor rooms .

Review 85:We stayed in room 30 which is incredibly noisy. It is located on a landing of the main staircase and every voice and noise from the main lobby echoes very loudly into the room. The door is not soundproof. I strongly recommend you don't stay in this room! Manager wouldn't/couldn't move us as he said the hotel was fully booked. What is unacceptable here is that I'm sure we are not the first people to complain, it really is that bad, however the hotel have done nothing about it. Says something about their attitude I'm afraid. The bed in room 30 was very hard and uncomfortable, if you are used to softer beds, don't stay here! Hotel is located in a pretty dreary part of St Hellier, although 10-15 mins walk gets you into town. You MUST book if you wish to get a table in the restaurant, even though we were told that we didn't need to book other than Fri/Sat evenings. Sun evening we missed out because the hotel decided to close off part of the restaurant and only service a small part of the total space available. We were not the only people staying in the hotel who were disappointed. So all in all, there is some great aspects to this hotel, BUT just too many negatives for me to want to return or recommend. Maybe a different room would have given me a different opinion.

Review 86:The food selection and quality in the bar area is excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the two guitar jazz night on Saturday night including the meal, quality entertainment!

Review 87:Comfortable, convenient hotel with the most profssional and helpful staff. The food was varied and delicious. They had a live jazz band in the bar one night that we were there which we enjoyed.

Review 88:Bedrooms smallish n basic but truly adequate. Could do with an update but not out of keeping with hotel style

Review 89:Grt lil hotel on very expensive Jersey! Staff excellent, meals outstanding. Nothing too much of a problem .

Review 90:Noise from a private party & after, the clearing up, was very bad on the Saturday night. Would not want to stay if a private function was taking place because of lack of sleep. Also WiFi not work on the first day.

Review 91:Staff were excellent & food in the restaurant was great. Location was good.

Review 92:A little too far from port and bus station

Review 93:Lovely helpful staff made it a good choice. Great if you have a car. Good parking but a little way back from the waterfront and action around the shopping streets. Good sized room but no air con which is fine if not too hot. We were given a fan. Good to open a window.

Review 94:Lovely hotel about a 15min stroll to town and the beach. Great staff, lovely pool (It helped that the temperature was 28 degrees that day) and a nice room

Review 95:Happened to visit on the hottest June day ever recorded in Jersey and suffered due to bedrooms not being air conditioned Would have preferred the option of a self service cooked breakfast to avoid wasting set breakfast items

Review 96:Good gym and pool and very pleasant and helpful staff Public spaces were well laid out and all organised around reception

Review 97:Rooms were very small and claustrophobic and could do with an overhaul. I do not consider this hotel value for money but then Jersey is a very expensive place to visit

Review 98:Location was very good. Breakfast was very good but would have preferred more fresh fruit than tinned fruit

Review 99:The views limited but I didn't ask for room with view, I did ask for upper floor and got that

Review 100:Helpful pleasant staff, breakfast was great with lots of choice, hotel clean and room cleaned daily, excellent location just mins walk from sea

Review 101:Ants in the bath tub. No wifi signal in the room.

Review 102:Relatively close to the town centre, but further away than it looks from the map. Really nice and polite staff. Reasonably priced.

Review 103:Some noise but in a built up area so understandable.

Review 104:Staff very helpful and efficient. Food very good. Breakfast all fresh and plentiful. Good location within walkable distances.

Review 105:Very poor wifi Did not take amex despite Booking.com taking amex as confirmation (bad practice) I had to rush out and draw funds on my amex to pay as i dont have a personal credit card.

Review 106:Good rooms and excellent breakfast. Friendly staff and helpful

Review 107:The breakfasts were very good but we had to ask members of staff for tea or coffee or to order a cooked breakfast on a couple of occasions, although they were not busy. The view from our bedroom was a very dangerous looking fire escape and a brick wall, but we had not asked for a view so this was not unexpected.

Review 108:Hotel was lovely. Staff were very helpful in reception. The meals in the restaurant and bar were very nice in a nice atmosphere. Live entertainment also on a couple of evenings.

Review 109:No negatives

Review 110:Had a wonderful 4day break with my sister for my 50th birthday. Everything about the hotel was exceptional the room the staff the food all of top quality. Would highly recommend this hotel

Review 111:No curtain in bathroom, room service was a lot of messing around. Breakfast was not child friendly. Not enough high chairs. Staff couldn't be bothered to help when asked for assistance.

Review 112:Comfortable food was nice

Review 113:Only thought on this was that the WiFi didn't work in the room hence made it difficult to connect remotely to work!

Review 114:Service from start to finish was excellent. Very polite and helpful staff and are a credit tot the hotel!

Review 115:Poor sound insulation. Wifi issues.

Review 116:Staff were very helpful and pleasant. When the wifi didn't work in our room George didn't give up until he got it connected. Front desk staff and servers at breakfast also provided excellent service. Secure bicycle storage.

Review 117:Shower went hot and cold randomly. We found our bedroom door open on the final day after returning from breakfast. Apparently, the cleaning staff had forgotten to shut the door with all our belongings on show. The room was fine for us but tired. The doors made it look cheap.

Review 118:Grand-looking entrance, bar and restaurant Great food (breakfast and evening meal) Staff friendly and helpful. Just 10 minutes walk from the middle of St Helier.

Review 119:Noisy plumbing. Small bath towels which felt hard to the touch.

Review 120:Spacious room with comfy bed and good storage/hanging space. Great breakfast with hot food cooked to order.

Review 121:A one night function music very loud in rooms 21to 29 above function room Manager did turn it down as it was not Acceptable with floor and doors vibrating

Review 122:All including meals and entertainment Shame about the one only negative

Review 123:There was lots of noise from the road behind the hotel. Someone talking very loudly outside my room at 6am (or perhaps in another room, the walls are very thin). My toilet system got stuck and was on continuous flush during the night. The TV system broke and noone could use TV. However, it may just have been my bad luck this night. For the right price I would go back. I felt it was overpriced this time given the issues.

Review 124:Staff were friendly, particularly at reception. The outdoor pool looks nice for summer. I believe they have some good Jazz evenings.

Review 125:This hotel is not only spotless but the breakfast was lovely. Its ideally located about 300 metres from the town centre and is a nice walk through the park.

Review 126:Poor wifi in the room Staff not very friendly, didn't wish to engagein any conversation Small amount of toiletries provided (normallyacceptable when staying for 1 night but not for a short break) Wascharged a small fee to print off boarding pass in black & white!

Review 127:Clean and comfy room v good breakfast Good location (close to relativeswho live locally) Good b&b rate (on comparison with other local4star hotels)

Review 128:The hotel tried to hard to please all. Live band in the bar, wedding reception in the breakfast room. Which all resulted in noise into the early hours. For a hotel of this standard surprising that more of its mature guests were annoyed.

Review 129:Good location and well kept

Review 130:There was wedding at the hotel on Saturday and due to the fact that one of our rooms was next to the location it was really very loud the whole night long

Review 131:Nice hotel not far away form the city center. Nice rooms and friendly staff

Review 132:room not cleaned one day. Discovered if you run out of hotel soaps etc, before three days they want to charge you for top-ups. Some noise from corridors.

Review 133:pleasant staff.

Review 134:The menu of the hotel could have much more vegetarian options.

Review 135:Customer service is amazing, they attend to your request with their best efforts. They also help you with guides to the best places to visit and what is the best way to reach there. Definitely recommend this hotel.

Review 136:Very clean, internet connection good (we watched Netflix on our iPad). Excellent staff and services. Short walking distance to shops and restaurants. Menu at the hotel restaurant looked great but we had made booking already to go out elsewhere. Breakfast was delicious and lots of choices;- fresh fruit, cheeses, croissants etc. also English breakfast with vegetarian option available too. Room was spacious and bed very comfortable.

Review 137:On arrival we were told we could not eat in the restaurant as it was full and they also had a private function on, in all my years of travelling I have never been refused access to the restaurant when a resident. On complaining to the manager he said he would push together two small tables to allow us to eat but again stressed they were full. The worst of the matter was that it became clear we were lied to as when we ate there were only six people in the restaurant!!! Added to this our curtains would not shut and we were told there was no way of fixing them that evening. To be fair they did repair them the following day. The towels were thread bare and very small. The hotel has one lift that broke down on Friday evening and was still out of order when we left on Sunday. Not good especially when travelling with someone with mobility issues. All in all a bad experience and we would not use this hotel again.

Review 138:Food excellent, general decor good.
