Reviews for Dorset House
Review 1:A very friendly welcome in a beautiful regency property. Fantastic breakfast with a good choice of homemade and locally sourced produce. Great local knowledge of where to eat.
Review 2:The delicious breakfast The very special ambiance of Dorset House The attractive interior and the roominess of the bedroom The helpfulness of the proprietors The location
Review 3:Nothing to dislike.
Review 4:The Dorset House is a beautiful boutique property. We absolutely loved the decor, the wonderful, comfortable rooms, the walkin shower and large bathroom, the gorgeous sunrises from the bedroom window, the superb breakfast with its yummy bacon, the very friendly hosts, Jason and Lynn who went out of their way to be helpful. The best in the UK!
Review 5:Very friendly..smooth running warm atmosphere..food all home made delicious breads.. Lovely old house recently renovated and very modern and spacious .. great location.. no parking but £2 a day car park 5 mins away.. Highly recommended.
Review 6:A very comfortable and relaxing stay in a great location in Lyme. Staff were very friendly and the breakfast was fantastic! Can't wait to come again!
Review 7:The downside of Dorset House is lack of car park and it's position. If they could acquire some spaces from the pub car park over the road that would be ideal. Also it is a bit of a walk from the seafront/town and on a steep hill so if you have difficulty walking (old joints, like mine) then you might struggle a bit. Bathroom was very big and would benefit by having a bath not just a shower.
Review 8:Lovely friendly atmosphere, wonderful double aspect room with sea views. Was apprehensive about the communal breakfast table but it turned out to be a nice experience as it meant we got to talk to the other guests who were lovely.
Review 9:No parking facility, paying car park 100m away, but no pavements. Bathroom floor could be improved, looked dirty, didn't fit with the décor of the rest of the house. Noisy guests, you can hear people too easily.
Review 10:Breakfast, choice of food and the quality of the food. Location of the property. Sea View room was lovely and airy and great views of the coast.
Review 11:Our room was really small, as well as the wardrobe. No commode nor a chair in the room. We stayed 2 nights during our 2-week-vacation. After the first night, not everything has been replaced: box of paper towels, refill toilet paper.
Review 12:Really friendly host and a very good breakfast. The house is flooded with light and welcomed us with a wonderful interior design. Our bathroom surprised us with its design, a large shower and a window
Review 13:Room slightly on the small side, but could have used the snug if needed (eg if weather had been bad).
Review 14:Really excellent quality of furnishings, toiletries at a level of a 5 star hotel. Very friendly and helpful owners with a really personal approach. Amazing breakfast with home baked bread, delicious spelt pancakes. Comfortable snug/ sitting area with honesty bar. First class.
Review 15:I loved this B & B everything was just perfect for us.The breakfasts were great. The shower was amazing. Our room was lovely with a very contemporary modern en suite. There are some nice extra touches like bath robes, full size toiletries. All of the decor had been thought out well and along with Lynn & Jas, was very welcoming. It was in a good location and although no parking on site, the car park is a short walk away and is only £2 for 24 hrs!!!!
Review 16:This is not really a negative as it is easily solved for most, but there is no dedicated parking. We parked over the road and always managed to find a spot each evening, just a few minutes walk back to Dorset House. If you had mobility problems, might not be the place for you.
Review 17:Place benefits from being an old building but having all the modern attributes that a customer needs, great bedrooms and bathrooms. Like sitting with others for breakfast even though we had to be out early. Young owners have got it right, just there when you need them.
Review 18:Only hangers, but no shelves or drawers, in the wardrobe or elsewhere. Nowhere to put things. No guest parking. Late check-in (4 pm) and early check-out (10.30 am) although in our case the owners were very accomodating with regard to check-in.
Review 19:Very clean, newly renovated property. Very friendly and helpful owners. We arrived 4 h ahead of the official check-in time but our room was ready and we were allowed to occupy it. Delicious breakfast!
Review 20:Perfect stay. The owners of Dorset House have got everything spot on! Beautiful rooms, amazing breakfasts and it feels like a proper home from home. Highly recommended and we'll be back!
Review 21:That I had to leave!
Review 22:The owners were amazing, friendly attentive and gave us lots of info of what to do and where to go. Rooms and breakfast were both awesome.
Review 23:Didn't like leaving.
Review 24:Dorset House is beautifully and tastefully renovated with the most modern ensuite in the delux double room and spotlessly clean. Home made bread and cakes, granola and friut compote and hot breakfast of locally sourced treats and locally roasted coffee were outstanding. Friendly and warm and professional hosts.
Review 25:The only negative is the lack of parking, but I got lucky and managed to park a couple of roads away on a street without restrictions.
Review 26:We stayed at Dorset House for 4 nights over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend. Our hosts were friendly and helpful, they invited us to join them and their friends in a wine tasting evening when we got back early on our first night. They really went the extra mile to help though when I foolishly lost my only car key and it was through their local network of contacts that I managed to get them returned to me when they found out someone had picked them up and handed them into a local shop which was a disaster averted. The breakfasts were amazing and they catered for my wife's Coeliac condition making gluten free options of their usual menu. In short I couldn't really think of a better place to stay in Lyme.
Review 27:From the warm welcome from the owners, the high spec facilities in bedroom & bathroom, the tasteful decoration to the wonderful breakfast, there is really nothing you can fault. This B&B just oozes quality & luxury
Review 28:Nothing at all.
Review 29:Classy interior. Luxurious bed and bathroom. Sea views. Lovely, welcoming staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Incredible breakfast. Homemade granola and full english breakfsast. Fresh coffee and cafetiere in the bedroom. Relaxed with checkout/check-in times. We'll definitely be returning one day!
Review 30:No parking on site, but there are options nearby.
Review 31:The owners were very helpful with parking and other info, breakfast was fab, the room had been modernised in a tasteful way without losing its character.
Review 32:Arriving late, but that wasn't the hotels fault.
Review 33:Beautifully decorated and presented with unparalleled attention to detail. Very friendly and helpful owners.
Review 34:The staff were extremely friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The rooms and facilities were of a very high standard. The including breakfast was absolutely stunning.
Review 35:Lovely 2 night stay over New Year in this boutique B&B. Great room with a sea view, comfy bed, fresh milk for hot drinks and proper coffee! REN products are also a great idea for pampering. We really enjoyed the 'honesty bar' in the snug and found the whole ambiance of Dorset House relaxing and homely. The breakfast menu is extensive and very tasty. We felt nothing was too much trouble here, would def stay again.
Review 36:Nothing to not like
Review 37:Quality of the room, all bed linen of top quality and clean. Attention to detail exceeds some top hotels. Would heartily recommend.
Review 38:Nothing - it was truly lovely in every way.
Review 39:We loved everything about Dorset House - from the elegant, perfectly equipped rooms to the excellent breakfast - it was the perfect place to stay in Lyme Regis. We will definitely stay there again.

Review 42:Great facilities nothing to much trouble very comfortable grown up space to relax and great location for exploring area.good value welcoming on our to go back too list
Review 43:Nothing not to like at all!
Review 44:Everything! Beautiful boutique hotel which I cant recommend enough. The rooms were beautifully appointed, hosts warming and friendly and the breakfasts were wonderful...there was even cake on offer with the slogan 'well you are on holiday'!
Review 45:Nothing really. If they could aquire the car park directly opposite it would be perfect.
Review 46:Every aspect of our stay was fantastic. Made to feel special- breakfast absolutely superb and a wonderful room with beautiful views.
Review 47:Parking wasn't available on site and wasn't very clear where we could park. Very minor detail as we found a car park very close by that seamed fine!
Review 48:It was immaculate, well maintained, friendly, helpful and just overall a very pleasant environment to be in and we had a Wonderful stay.
Review 49:No Wardrobe hanging in our room (I believe other rooms have this) Bit too warm....better than too cold !
Review 50:Situation and Building Excellent Decor and Cleanliness Very friendly and personal service Lovely Breakfasts with a personal touch, fresh homemade bread etc.
Review 51:no parking outside, but that's not their fault!
Review 52:the most exquisitely and thoughtfully decorated hotel. exceptionally clean rooms, real wooden floors and a beautiful breakfast with homemade, organic ingredients, unusual and locally sourced foods and juices. an honesty bar with local beers and good quality wines. the owners are marvellous and welcoming.
Review 53:Only minor downside was lack of space in the room for storage. Lack of car park was not too much hassle as cheep (£2 a day) car park was short distance away
Review 54:Good location within a short walk from town. Very welcoming and friendly hosts, excellent breakfast and comfortable room with wonderful walk in shower.
Review 55:The only down side were the wooden floors, which look beautiful but sadly are very noisy. My next door neighbours seemed to spend the night clunking round and dropping things on the floor. This would not stop me visiting the place again however.
Review 56:Pretty much everything. The place was lovely with a very comfortable bed and an excellent breakfast and perfect hosts.
Review 57:Breakfast was great, nice atmosphere and decor. Nice sea views from my room. Good quality bathroom fittings and shower. Good attention to detail with some extra personal touches. Would certainly recommend and will be back.
Review 58:The Dorset is in a ideal location to visit Lyme Regis it has a balance. Of the old building with modern fixtures the rooms are well laid out and the bed was very comfy hosts were helpful and a hearty breakfast to set you up for the day
Review 59:The walk up the hill from the beach !!
Review 60:Lovely renovation, calm clean colours . Comfortable bed, great monsoon shower with Ren toiletries. Beautifully prepared breakfast.
Review 61:Room was quite hot even with window open Curtains let in light - suggest black out blinds ? Surprised that bed wasn't made - but then maybe this was mentioned and I missed it
Review 62:The welcome The homely, family feeling The decor and furnishings The little touches of luxury (full size Ren toiletries, fresh coffee in the room) The breakfast - fruit salad, cake, cooked breakfast, communal table The snug and honesty bar Free wifi
Review 63:My boyfriend and I have stayed in Lyme Regis often, and we both agree that Dorset House has been our favourite place to stay so far...We had a warm, friendly welcome with a superb breakfast every morning. The facilities were great, we especially liked the Snug area! :) I would definitely recommend Dorset House to anyone looking for a relaxing, comfortable time away! Thank you Lyn and Jason, we hope to return next year!
Review 64:This is a beautiful place to stay if you appreciate quality, friendly staff and attention to detail . They have thought of everything to give you a comfortable stay. The breakfast choice is wonderful , with wholefood options and freshly baked bread and locally sourced ingredients . We will be returning soon. Very highly recommended !!
Review 65:Loved the decor. Antiques and high spec finishes. Personality shines here. Hosts are lovely and hard working. Lyns homemade food was amazing and cant wait to stay again.
Review 66:Fabulous suite with sea views in a very stylish period house. Lyn and Jason were excellent hosts. And do prepare yourself for the breakfast of a lifetime... I wasn't hungry again until early evening!
Review 67:That had not thought to stay for longer .
Review 68:The decor was chic & restful . Ben was utterly charming & very helpful . Honesty bar was a welcome touch given the weather on arrival . Beds gloriously comfortable & breakfast absolutely fabulous
Review 69:The owners of this hotel have done everything to make your stay an excellent one. Jason is a very friendly and relaxed host. Breakfast consists of fresh melon, raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and mint, plus yoghurt, home made Grenola, about 5 different types of bread followed by a delicious cooked breakfast and wonderful cake (presumably made by Lynn). The decor throughout the house is a perfect mix of old and new - very tastefully done.. The bed was extremely comfortable, the bathroom excellent and the hospitality tray of a very high standard. You would have to go a long way to match the atmosphere in this hotel and the service offered. I would have no hesitation in recommending it to others. Although there is no parking on site we parked for free in a nearby road without any problem. If you are 60 or over and reading this review please just be aware that Lyme Regis is very hilly.
Review 70:No parking nearby and Lyme was very busy so there was no room in the long stay up the road. By luck we found street parking about 10 minutes away.
Review 71:The room was lovely and the bed very comfortable although perhaps a summer duvet would help during a heat wave!
Review 72:Nothing really.
Review 73:Excellent service and hosts Beautiful guest house with great design and best quality linens I have thought of everything from Ren products, iPod docking and honesty bar. Breakfast locally sourced, home made bread and cake. Good break options as well.
Review 74:Bit of a walk from town, which is okay (only about 10/15 minutes) but the steep incline could be difficult for some.
Review 75:Friendly staff, incredibly tasty breakfast with several options (rather than just full English!), awesomely renovated rooms, a touch of class about the whole place. Highly recommended.
Review 76:no parking at premises - but car park available 10 minutes walk away
Review 77:With Lyn and Jason we had excellent hosts! The house has charme and character, the rooms are very indivudual and top equipped. Excellent bath rooms. Good Cornish and/or individual breakfast.

Review 90:Lovely decor. Good breakfast (especially the granola!). Charming, helpful hosts.
Review 91:Less of a mummy B and B and more of a slickly run boutique hotel. You cannot more at Alexandra House but it won't be better than this .
