Reviews for Best Western Royal Hotel

Review 1:Not the hotel, but Jersey. Not a fan of electric cars but Jersey desperately needs to make them compulsory. All day in St Helier the narrow streets are full of diesel particulates and oxides of nitrogen. Who on earth needs a Chelsea gas guzzler tractor or a 200 mph boy's toy in a tiny crowded island?

Review 2:Good big room. Good big bathroom. Quiet.Smiley staff.

Review 3:Bathroom needs updating. Road outside with no double glazing to counter the noise.

Review 4:Fantastic staff who could not do enough to assist. Excellent breakfast and evening dinner. Great choice of beers in the bar at good prices.

Review 5:Long wait for items ordered from the kitchen at breakfast. One member of my party ordered two fried eggs and after a on wait only one egg arrived.

Review 6:The room (107) was well appointed and comfortable.

Review 7:The room was dated, the bed was small for a double and very uncomfortable. Floor boards creeked, which is not great with a baby asleep. A number of issues, ex the bathroom door would not shut. Room smelt of cigarette smoking when a party was on.

Review 8:Wi fi didn't work in room and staff wasn't concerned when asked. Not all staff where friendly to all. Not value for money. Rooms was not as nice as premier inn, very standard and decoration poor for the price.

Review 9:Breakfast was nice. The dinner menu was nice.

Review 10:The parking, we couldn't park there on the first night and I felt the pictures on the website differed from reality based on our room especially

Review 11:The staff are really nice.

Review 12:Due to the heat the room was stiflingly hot however appreciate that the buildiong was old and therefore no air con. Again, the staff were very happy to accomadate us with a fan to help cool the room down. The room we stayed in could do with decorating to bring it into 2015 however it was fit for purpose.

Review 13:Staff very friendly and happy to help. Very welcoming.

Review 14:Distance from town centre.

Review 15:A nice Hotel a little further from the town than we would have liked. Good wifi, excellent breakfast, staff friendly and helpful.

Review 16:No air conditioning. Bar was lacking in atmosphere. Seemed geared up to pensioners. Poor accessibility. Staff attitude bit hit or miss.

Review 17:Liked location, breakfast and cleanliness.

Review 18:Room quite small. I had asked for a room close to the lift as we had a heavy kidney dialysis machine and boxes of dialysis fluid which weigh quite heavily. The room was a long trek from the upstairs lift and then we were faced with a flight of stairs which it was very difficult to negotiate. I am 68 and my husband is disabled so it was hard work for me. I would have preferred the hotel to have been honest and told us if they had no suitable room for us.

Review 19:Short walk to main town, so convenient. Food in bar was good in the evening and also the breakfast in the morning. Some of the staff were very helpful but others not so.

Review 20:Room needed air conditioning Shower was more a trickle than a shower Room was noisy, whistling from water pipes Getting to the room was like a route march Food portions were on the small side not all the electric sockets worked

Review 21:Bed Was comfortable Bid Bathroom Staff were friendly Food was of good quality

Review 22:Perhap a little far from the port as we came by boat!! Breakfast prices (e.g. continental and full English) only appeared on table when we had served ourselves from the buffet. Should be more obvious and timely

Review 23:Nice architecture and traditional style rooms

Review 24:Dinners too small, menu needs to be more simple. Ate out after first dinner. However, dining room and staff very good.Bar needs updating.

Review 25:Staff, room, decor, lift, efficient, position.

Review 26:A bit noisy and not too clean

Review 27:Hotel was a bit old but the location was good and parking was in an insight garage which is rare in a small medieval town

Review 28:Noisy door banging all night, very warm (no air con) pizza take away outside my room (very noisy) open until the early hours, very bad sloping floors, even the bed was tilted! No sausages for breakfast

Review 29:Clean, convenient location, friendly staff

Review 30:located on busy road - room noisy early morning due to traffic (windows open as no air conditioning in room)

Review 31:Spacious, clean room; friendly, helpful staff; good breakfast choice; within walking distance of town centre and harbour.

Review 32:Very poor wifi, room had socket falling off wall, room was tiny and they allowed little kids to run riot around the bar area.

Review 33:It is in St Helier. Staff were excellent.

Review 34:Rabbit warren like corridors with steps up and down. Room we had was noisy due to connecting door which meant we could hear every word neighbours said and as they liked to sit chatting until early hours made it hard for us to sleep. Bathroom very, very small. You could sit on toilet and wash hands in basin at same time! Decorations needed renewing.

Review 35:Handy location and good breakfasts

Review 36:The room was quite hot even with the window open.

Review 37:Clean and spacious room, large bathroom with bathtub, perfect for a couple of days. Great location for city centre main streets and just 15/20min walk to seafront. Very nice staff.

Review 38:The decor is a bit dated although the housekeeping staff did a great job in keeping the rooms and common areas clean.

Review 39:The staff during my long weekend were all lovely. I couldn't fault a single one. Everyone was really helpful and had a smile for all.

Review 40:On arival being offered a 3rd floor room that was gloomy.felt as if we were inferiour.but that changed thanks to the manager. Menus needed to be more varied and changed more often

Review 41:Excellent friendly staff always happy to answer any questions with a smile.? location. cleanliness. Lovely room lovely bed.?nice decor free internet.

Review 42:Very poor water pressure, hot water had taken at least 10 minutes to get warm, shower ran out of water half way through, reported it to reception didn't seem concerned

Review 43:TRYING TO LOCATE MY ROOM 228, IT WAS TRING TO BEAT THE MAZE PROGRAMME/ NOT GOOD WITH A CASE

Review 44:YOUR OCT FEST FOOD WAS OF GOOD QUALITY AND GOOD VALUE SERVED BY VERY!!! FRIENDLY STAFF

Review 45:We did not like the lift. It shut on my arm and when I left I had a huge bruise. They did not give you time to get in and out especially with cases. We also wish there had been more restaurants near by.

Review 46:We liked the food and bar and found it was good for all our needs.

Review 47:Ventilation could be better in the bathroom, (but I suspect the extractor may not have been working) and a slightly bigger television would be good - but these are suggestions rather than complaints.

Review 48:The staff at the Royal are a credit to Morvan. Polite, helpful and very smart. The food, both at breakfast and dinner, was excellent. We had a room (small suite?) on the first floor which was very quiet, clean and comfortable and very close to the terrace and sun lounge which was an added bonus. We will definitely return when next in Jersey!

Review 49:Wi fi didn't work in the bedroom on either of my two visits but was OK in the lobby and restaurant area

Review 50:Comfortable, quiet room, car parking and excellent restaurant

Review 51:Broadband was very poor and kept dropping, it would have been a lot less frustrating if there had been no broadband

Review 52:excellent service and food - breakfast very good staff were all very helpful room comfortable although a little on the small side

Review 53:A small comment regarding the rooms, they are a bit dated and could do with modernising but the important thing is they are clean, comfortable and fuctional

Review 54:This is a great hotel in a really good location in St Hellier. It's close to the port and airport with the main shops and bars only a few minutes walk away. The staff at the hotel are very welcoming and can't do enough for you. The hotel is clean and has everything you need to enjoy your stay, lovely food, comfortable rooms, gym facilities and good connection to wifi, oh, and there's a nice bar too!

Review 55:Shower above bath (not separate). Wifi coverage poor and slow.

Review 56:A big plus is the location as it's pretty much central to the town for shops and transport. Bar, restaurant and room service very good.

Review 57:The wifi was a bit hit and miss in our bedroom

Review 58:We loved everything about this hotel, it was spotless the staff were so professional but with a Gsoh! The food was amazing!

Review 59:View from room ! Lack of car parking spaces.

Review 60:The bar food . The room . Staff first class & very attentive . Cleanliness was excellent . We will use Best Western hotels again.

Review 61:Having to queue for breakfast on more than one occasion. The Impression from the restaurant staff was very offhand and the feeling was strongly that they did not really care and the guest was a bit of a nuisance,it was not a pleasant experience

Review 62:In a good location and the room was always clean and tidy. The reception staff were helpful and friendly.

Review 63:We only stayed over a few nights but the noise from the road outside increased every night, finally going about 1o clock in the morning. If we had stayed longer it would have been totally unacceptable. Indeed I would suggest that a member of staff spends a night or two too experience our complaint!!

Review 64:Staff and breakfast were excellent .

Review 65:No Air con. Our room was on 3 rd flood and in the eves of the building. Very hot, did not sleep that well for the whole of our stay. Wi-if very slow. In this day & Ge if you are going to give wifi free it needs to be good.

Review 66:Breakfast was good. Did not use the restaurant. Bar meals were ok.

Review 67:Had room at front of hotel which was incredibly noisy due to traffic. No aircon so had to keep windows open and noise from outside was unbearable. Did ask to be moved which was done with no fuss so was impressed by that. Parking was very difficult due to tight spaces and first come first serve set up.

Review 68:Staff were helpful. Breakfast was great.

Review 69:Noisy water pipes from people showering. Busy road outside with people shouting late at night. Bedroom fine, but one opening window only not sufficient. Air conditioning in bedroom required. Parking not sufficient spaces. Would not return because of above.

Review 70:Good friendly staff .

Review 71:We were on 3rd floor and the shower pressure was poor. Very limited car parking.

Review 72:Location was central in St Helier. Price was good compared to others.

Review 94:Good friendly staff

Review 95:Very old fashion, needs updating and decorating

Review 96:Friendle staff

Review 97:Was not able to stay due, see above. Also car parking inadequate. When the few spaces are occupied, nowhere to park for miles.

Review 98:Quite a walk to our room and lots of steps.

Review 99:Staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 100:being woken up before 9 on saturday morning by the window cleaner!

Review 118:Staff were friendly and attentive.

Review 119:Poor Wi-Fi.

Review 120:Place where hotel is positioned, staff.

Review 121:Very nice and polite staff. Very clean.

Review 122:The experience was first class, well organised, lovely staff, good food.

Review 123:On a busy road so a bit of traffic noise is noticeable if you're not used to it.

Review 124:The hotel is spotless. Staff are extremley knowledgeable, helpfull and friendly. Breakfast excellent.

Review 125:Wifi only worked in the lobby and bar area while I was there. I was told that normally there is good reception in all the bedrooms and that they were re-setting the servers, but coverage didn't improve at all during my 4 day stay.

Review 126:I had a very comfortable room with separate sitting room, which was ideal for working while travelling. The staff were extremely nice and efficient. The hotel has a bar area with food, which was average but the restaurant was excellent. There is a 2 or 3 course set menu and the food is beautifully cooked and presented. Location is good, an easy few minute walk to central St Helier and the surrounding area is quiet.

Review 127:Getting to the hotel in the first place. Getting used the the steps inside the hotel which were in several locations and tricky to negotiate.

Review 128:Ease of access to the road system around the town. The variety of options for meals in and out of the hotel. Its proximity to the centre of the town and its many shops and visitor attractions

Review 129:Service and civility.all the staff were very polite.the comfort was also very comfortable good value for money We will have no hesitation in returning and reconmending

Review 130:WIFI in our room was very slow but worked well in the lobby.

Review 131:Great staff. Very friendly and helpful. Both the bar and restaurant staff weve very good and service was great. Ideal location in St Heliers just a short walk from the town centre. Nice size room and well furnished with plenty of space for clothes.

Review 132:Nothing really. I think it's a better place for older couples (families with kids may be bored there during a longer stay). Be careful - Malvern hotels (BW is part of their network) charged my credit card fully upfront immediately after the booking (booking.com email did not indicate this! - I discovered this only during checking my credit card a/c), but they admitted the mistake and offered an immediate refund without any problems.

Review 133:Really great location, excellent wi-fi, v good restaurant, v helpful staff, easy to access (and leave) small car park (but we were out of season - I presume it may get tricky in a high season). Old fashion rooms and decor but quiet (!), v clean, more private B & B atmosphere (good!) rather than a hotel-like; one can really relax there. Comfortable beds. lots of pillows, extra duvets, kettle with plenty of frequently replenished tea/coffee (silly (but useful) small thing, frequently not found in much 'higher' places). Definitely would stay there again.

The Fine Print
