Reviews for The Norfolk Lodge Hotel

Review 1:Did not dislike anytjing

Review 2:Excellent location, staff very friendly, rooms clean and food excellent, all together would not wish to stay anywhere else very very pleased

Review 3:Its a long walk into town if your not fit and there are no local shops for newspapers etc again without a good walk and traffic noise is bad if your on the front or in the annexe.plus school across the roundabout has playground noise.

Review 4:Good facilities with an indoor pool and free parking.Breakfast very good and the coffee is the best ive had in a hotel.

Review 5:My room mate takes medication. She took this with water straight out of the bathroom tap on the first evening and suffered badly with diarrhoea for the whole of our second day which spoilt things for us. Also The windows did not close properly one they were open and plug points within the room was scarce (only one available), Wi fi was very slow and occasionally dropped out.

Review 6:staff were mostly pleasent and helpful, and the bathing area just outside the swimming pool was quiet and pleasant too.

Review 7:Shower,in single room, was not efficient ( very old type!) A long mirror would be appreciated ( women do like to see their full outfit on,when going out!!) also, a light over, or by, the mirror/dressing table.

Review 8:Basic room, looked incredibly dated and not like the photos I had seen online. The pool is very small and attempted to swim twice but there was no room.

Review 9:Great location, close to town

Review 10:Although there was a lift in the main building the only problem we found was with the number of stairs up to reception then down to the annex which was not too good for anyone having difficulty climbing stairs.

Review 11:The meals in the restaurant were excellent with choice for everyone. The hotel location was good for guests with transport

Review 12:had single rm 11 and twin room in annex. Single was dated, only had shower - no bath, very small, noisy vents/air con unit outside all night. too warm with thick blanket - why not modern quilt? twin room better value.

Review 13:location and atmosphere, pool, breakfast, twin room in annex.

Review 14:Bedroom we had was really loud with the traffic from the road. Breakfast was poor if you wanted anything from the menu. Waited 45mins for smoked haddock, asked for poached egg and got boiled eggs as all staff were foreign they didn't understand what we wanted Bed was too small for both of us

Review 15:Good car parking and room was suitable for our needs. Not too far from the town centre if you don't mind a walk.

Review 16:Breakfast service could have been better. The hotel was very busy, but every customer should have the same experience.

Review 17:I was in the West Wing - very comfortable. The room was very clean, spacious and modern. The staff servicing the rooms were very friendly.

Review 18:Tired decor in bedrooms and bathrooms. Dripping tap in one bathroom, loose door handle in the other. Very poor soundproofing, we could hear everything in the neighbouring rooms and room above.

Review 19:Excellent breakfast. Well cooked and well presented with plenty of choice.

Review 20:the room was kinda, warm didn't have the best ventilation. opened up the window to the exhaust fan noise from the kitchen i think.. was not the best white noise.

Review 21:The location is good, and ample parking is available. The room we had was nice the bathroom was really Big.

Review 22:All the staff were attentive and friendly. We were in jersey for my wife's birthday and she received a complimentary bottle of champagne on the day.lovely surprise.

Review 23:The result of Jersey v Moseley game. I can't blame the hotel Ha Ha

Review 24:Travelled to watch Moseley playing Jersey at Rugby. This was my second choice hotel but I doubt whether my first choice would have been better or more comfortable.

Review 25:We booked via booking.com and it automatically booked us a room in the hotel annexe area, which is a separate house/building to the main hotel. As other reviews mentioned, there was a musky smell in the hallway and also in our room 125. We stuck it out and the smell in our room disappeared within a day. The room was basic and the window are old and drafty enough, that the net curtains moved on windy days. The central heating was not on in our room, however an electric heater was provided when I asked how the radiator worked. When it rained we had to make a dash to the main hotel entrance for breakfast and a drink at the bar/evening meal as there is not a covered walkway. The hotel is on a busy roundabout, so there was a lot of noise from the roundabout/road outside and the police/ambulance and fire station is a stones throw away and it could be quite noisy through the day time with sirens. Light sleepers may need ear plugs.

Review 26:The hotel was very clean and the staff were very friendly. We ate in the hotel bar several times and the food was freshly cooked and good size portions and very good value for money. The swimming pool is heated and towels are provided; the pool changing rooms were extremely clean. The bar, lounge and restaurant area were always warm and clean. We went in October and there was always plenty of parking spaces available in the hotel car park, which we soon realised was invaluable in St Helier. The annexe area was very quiet and we had no noise from other residents. We had a large room with a double bed and two single beds and the massive bay window let in a lot of light and sunshine in the afternoon. The bathroom was very clean and we had clean towels everyday. Everything was very clean in the room and even the hair dryer smelt of dettol. Location allowed easy walking to pubs and restaurants in St Helier.

Review 27:The top floor of the annex building would be better served with a lift, stairs are steep and narrow. The on-suite in the attic room is somewhat cramped.

Review 28:Good location with ample parking.

Review 29:Hotel is close to a busy main road, but after 6pm, it quietens down.

Review 30:The staff the facilities -eg indoor heated swimming pool. The cuisine - excellent

Review 31:I asked for a drink to be added to my room and the member of staff huffed and puffed, I then got another drink for a colleague and I was told I should have signed at the bottom of the page to allow the member of staff to add drinks maybe I should have been advised. Overcharged for a phone call by £10

Review 32:Location was ok for walking to centre.

Review 33:You can't pay for drinks at the bar with a card even if you don't want to charge drinks to your room bill. Bar staff were not very friendly.

Review 34:Clean,comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast.

Review 35:Quite a few steps not a problem for us but not so good for the elderly.

Review 36:Stayed here with a friend we had a room in the annexe which was very comfortable & very quiet. An easy walk into town also bus stop outside. Staff very friendly. Good to have use of indoor pool.

Review 37:No lift to rooms. We had a back bedroom which looked directly into next door apartment windows about 12 feet away that stayed on all night so difficult to sleep. No AC in the room. Noisy fan under our window, from the swimming pool we think but on from early morning to quite late at night.

Review 38:Staff were very helpful and polite at all times. Our room was very clean and the bathroom was newly refurbished. Good location for town centre.

Review 39:Coming home.

Review 40:liked everything about the hotel well run, staff were very polite, wish all hotels were the same. Food was plentiful, and a lot of choice.

Review 41:The staff at breakfast time should be allocated sections, they were all over the place and forgetting to go back to tables when asked for example a spoon, or plate etc, so the breakfast time was erratic and the staff didnt know what they were suppose to do.

Review 42:the rooms were clean and comfy, the beds were firm and the rooms dark when it was time to go to bed.

Review 43:The room was a bit tired. Why were all the staff foreign?

Review 44:The location, the breakfast ,the service, the parking. The annex rooms are far superior to ours in the main hotel.

Review 45:What would be good, is if drinks and snacks good be served on the upstairs terrace.

Review 46:I liked the hotel as it suited my needs, easy to walk into town. I would not recommend to couples of a certain age without children or solo travellers who are not seasoned travellers, as they may find it lonely. I do though consider as you have such mixed clients, families, coach parties and elderly people, you manage very well. on the Saturday afternoon, before I left, a large party of mostly Germans arrived, some appeared demanding, but the staff on reception handled them in both a friendly and professional manner.

Review 47:No wifi in rooms also one day it would not work anywhere, poor decor in rooms, kettle on table would not reach the plug so had to put kettle on floor.Breakfast on day one was only warm not hot so did not go for rest of week.Hotel Bar Prices a Joke £1.80 for a can of Coke.Coaches/taxis blocked exit on numerous occasions

Review 48:Location as it was near Family & Friends Leaving

Review 49:The whole hotel was very dated with 60's/70's wallpaper and furniture and no lift. There were holes in the walls and the carpets were threadbare. You can only get internet access in the lounge and the shower was the worst I've come across (looks ancient and provided little more than a dribble). The breakfast was slow and very dissapointing.

Review 50:The staff were wonderfully helpful.

Review 51:The pool which was one of the main reasons we booked the hotel had broken heating during the length of our stay. Kids went in each day but too cold for adults. Blankets rather than a quilt for bedding. Bathroom had bits misssing off taps and dripping taps also chipped cladding around bath.

Review 52:Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff. Meals were lovely with a good choice each evening. Buffet breakfast was excellent. Entertainment was good especially the magician. Car parking facilities are excellent.

Review 53:We had a room in the annex. The whole building was stinking. The carpet was dirty and felt wet. All clothes smelled of mold after 2 nights stay. We don´t recommend anyone to book a room in the annex. It´s a shame to let people sleep in a room like that.

Review 54:Nothing about the hotel, the only thing was leaving there.

Review 55:Could not fault any staff, the rooms were cleaned every day for the five days we were there. The breakfast and also the bar food at night was excellent. We would definitely stay again when on Jersey and recommend this hotel.

Review 56:Very behind the times Rooms too hot (no air-conditioning) Breakfast set up a complete shambles (really needs to be re-assessed) Have had better hotels for the same price.

Review 57:Very clean Great location Friendly staff

Review 58:Bedroom and ensuite very small so wouldn't like to stay there more than 1or 2 nights. Did not like having blanket on bed. Needs up dating to duvets. Decor also needs an update.

Review 59:Friendly staff, helpful but not overbearing. Breakfast very nice, quite a good selection. Clean areas around hotel.

Review 60:Had bar meal fist evening which was very poor so afterwards ate out for evening meals Instant coffee let down the breakfast, we thought that went out of fashion years ago!

Review 61:very clean good facilities for children and adults attractive pool, lounge, bar and patio areas good evening entertainment breakfast good with multiple offerings

Review 62:That wifi only available in lounge and dining area much better if available in rooms

Review 63:Rooms good. Bathroom good,Dining area good, Food good, Staff good

Review 64:No air conditioning or fans meant the room was roasting hot

Review 65:Staff fell over themselves to be helpful during our stay and the breakfast was excellent. The complimentary champagne was a nice touch too too and too and the too and the swimming pool was clean and well kept

Review 66:The Norfolk Lodge is a great place to stay in St Helier, the hotel is very clean staff excellent. The breakfast is a must, we will defiantly visit again and would recommend this hotel

Review 67:The room was like a shoes box, and being 6f 3, this did not suite. Also very hot, so uncomfortable to sleep in. Very clinical smell around the hotel and needs a face lift, to compete with new hotels, like the water front, where my grandparents were staying.

Review 68:I liked the staff and the breakfast

Review 69:It's a little bit far from the town centre, and if you walk in the route is not very attractive. At breakfast you are not allowed to help yourself to orange juice, you have to wait to be served. Similarly with the tea and coffee, which is served in cups, you are not given a pot.

Review 70:The hotel was clean and well run. All the staff are friendly and helpful. There is a very reasonably priced evening menu. The swimming pool is lovely.

Review 71:- size of the single room eg shoebox. - wifi only in the lounge. - no porter offered - rabbits warren to get around. - staff flirting with each other in ear shot of customers because you had to use the lounge for the wifi.

Review 72:Breakfast until 10 was good and there was a good selection there.

Review 73:The hotel is on a very busy main road and opposite a school all of which spoilt the location. It was very noisy from early morning and made it unpleasant to sit outside on the terrace. Bit of a walk to town or beach. The hotel seems to cater for a lot of retired guests, so not really for younger guests or young at heart!

Review 74:Efficient staff cleanliness Free wi fi

Review 75:run down annex with heavy (and different on different floors) air freshener to cover what smell?

Review 76:Had nothing to say that was bad except starters are rather big too much lettuce in prawn cocktail .

Review 89:The feeling of the hotel, feels like a hotel for coach parties

Review 90:Staff, location, price

Review 91:All good

Review 93:Left early on day two told by one staff member we could have cooked but on the day this was not the case continental only

Review 94:the brekfast

Review 95:No air con and leaving window open at night not advisable due to proximity of police HQ and ambulance HQ..

Review 96:Not so much a bad experience, just the place did smell a bit musty, but overall all was good.
