Reviews for The Grange Hotel
Review 1:I'd booked the hotel as it was cheap - £58 for a twin room - it was a trip we didn't want to spend a lot of money on. It was advertised as being the price for the room, but when we arrived we were told that was only for single occupancy and were asked to pay the full rate - £85. We didn't feel this was a reasonable rate for the room we were in, and didn't appreciate the confusion around the price.
Review 2:The surrounding houses do not provide an interesting view. the smell of cooking tends to drift up to top of stairs where we were.
Review 3:Friendly & helpful, allowed us to leave baggage after checkout and return to change in afternoon. Interesting, characterful building with charm. Clean and comfortable beds. Good breakfast.
Review 4:everything was perfect.
Review 5:every aspect of my stay was wonderful. Staff couldn't have been friendlier, breakfast was the best I have had this year and the accommodation was very comfortable, well furnished and very quiet. WiFi was very speedy which for Norfolk has been rare.
Review 6:Given password to free wifi that didn't work and signal very in and out on top floor
Review 7:Great room in the turret of the building, really nice friendly owner on hand at all times. Great breakfast choices, freshly prepared and really well done!
Review 8:Very dated and in parts tatty decor. Paper thin wall allowing noise from a very excitable young family next door to ruin my peace. Mattresses and ironing board left in hallway.
Review 9:The staff were friendly.
Review 10:A lovely hotel run by lovely staff! The room was really nice and clean. The provisions were generous. The breakfast was just fantastic. Highly recommended hotel.
Review 11:Felt very welcome and at ease being a single traveller. Room was fantastic and enabled me to get work completed in my own living room before going to bed where I had another TV. The owners really look after you and make you feel welcome and as a result I will definitely be going back.
Review 12:Jane and Taz made us most welcome and the bedroom and ensuite bathroom were very comfortable. The choice of breakfast was amazing.and tasty. Lucas was most helpful in taking our heavy cases upstairs which was most appreciated.
Review 13:We looked at the dinner menu, but it was not appealing. There are other eateries locally which did the job well.
Review 14:A small friendly hotel which served our purpose well. The owners could not have been more welcoming, helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was excellent.
Review 15:Not a criticism: the decor in the room I stayed in was a little dated - but I wasn't expecting a boutique hotel.
Review 16:Extraordinarily friendly and helpful owners; large room; very accommodating about my late arrival and bicycle; delicious pancakes with maple syrup for breakfast.
Review 17:Couldn't find any faults
Review 18:As the brochure describes, it is a family home and I was made to feel welcome. An atmosphere normally associated with a guest house, not a hotel.
Review 19:The chocolate bar and fresh milk accompanying the tea and coffee facilities was a nice detail and the sumptuous breakfast managed to keep me fuelled for the whole day. The hotel is conveniently located for trips to the nearby Wash Nature Reserve and Huntstanton was only a 20 minute drive away.
Review 20:Wonderfully helpful staff, no matter what time of the day/night Jane always appeared to be there. Location was excellent, close to Kings Lynn, but also close to the main routes for Norfolk.
Review 21:Took over a hour for Breakfast ( which was excellent ) but made us run late
Review 22:Excellent host's, more b&b than hotel which is better and more personal, lovely old property
Review 23:Nothing! It is not a luxury hotel but was excellent value for my 1 night stay.
Review 24:I had a spacious room with an excellent choice of hot drinks and biscuits and the bed was very comfortable. Although I arrived early the staff gave me a friendly welcome and showed me to my room which was already prepared for me. Breakfast was a good selection of food and drinks which set me up for the day.
Review 25:Dinner in the evenings was a lot, like eating at home so we were able to not stress about having a five year old in tow. We also liked having fresh milk for drinks in our room. A lovely touch.
Review 26:Owners were really friendly and provided fresh milk for our room each day to have with our tea & coffee. They also were very accommodating with giving us a large room so we could fit our travel cot inside. Had a few drinks in the bar in the evening which were very reasonably priced.
Review 27:Jane couldn't have been more friendly. Going out of her way to make our brief stay a delight. Would definitely stay there again when in King's Lynn.
Review 28:The friendliness of the staff and and informative advice on places of interest! We loved the little treats in the room, ie chocolate! Nothing was too much trouble! We will certainly go back.
Review 29:Lovely friendly staff, Jane is amazing. Bed so comfortable we had the best sleep we have had in a long time. Nice warm welcome would highly recommend.
Review 30:The Grange is a fabulous place: beautiful interior décor, lovely central staircase, great service and huge rooms. The hosts, Jane and Taz, were friendly and helpful, generous with their time and service and ready to chat with their guests. The bar was welcoming, the food was plentiful and tasty and my stay was excellent value for money. I would recommend The Grange to anyone travelling in the area.
Review 31:The only downside in giving the revue The Grange deserves is that it will end up being booked solid next time I want to stay there.
Review 32:Where to start? From the welcome and offer of real milk for my tea, to producing a meal just for me on a Sunday evening, to early breakfast the hospitality was faultless. The room was sizeable and sparkling clean with visitor comforts obviously and generously fulfilled. The building is gracious and spacious: this is not so much booking into a hotel as relaxing with friends who care about their visitors. Quite simply, the best I've ever stayed in.
Review 33:No drawers or shelves for storage of clothes that couldn't be hung up. Lack of coat hangers
Review 34:Jane and Taz were helpful and friendly. The bedroom and bathroom were spacious. 2 armchairs
Review 35:The owners/staff were very friendly & helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Nice clean towels, and clean room. Well-stocked every day with tea and biscuits, and fresh milk in room.
Review 36:Really warm and welcoming owners who were accommodating and really made guest feel welcome. Can't get rating faces to work but they would all have been excellent. Would highly recommend a visit.
Review 37:Maybe the check out is a bit too early.
Review 38:There's nothing better than a warm welcome wherever you go. That's absolutely what you will find at Grange hotel. I simply felt like home when I arrived. Rooms are clean and cozy, bathroom remade, and good Internet connection around the hotel. Highly recommended.
Review 39:Kings Lynn a bit wierd. Thought it would be a nice cultural historic port town, but wasn't all that interesting. Coast not far away though, so great base to stay and go for walks.
Review 40:Lovely old building, Room clean and conmfortable, very welcoming and friendly, could have dinner there (and a drink in the bar while waiting!), cup of tea sitting out in the sun in the morning was great start to the day.
Review 41:The view: rows of nasty 1960s bungalows. And it would be nice to see the house interior returned to its original state, rather than modernised.
Review 42:Lovely old house; warm welcome; excellent breakfast; good value.
Review 43:Jane was very welcoming and nothing was to much trouble, a good range of choice for breakfast along with a very comfortable room. Dee. 28th Feb 2015.
Review 44:No bad comments at all but having some form of transport, be it a bike or a car would be helpful to you to get out and about.
Review 45:I had almost forgotten what it is like to be treated as a guest rather than a temporary resident. Running a small hotel is undoubtably exhausting, having the energy to keep engaging with your guests, week on week, year on year is a formidable achievement, especially one that has been owner managed for so many years! Its not easy to compete for business but this is one way to do it. Your reviews are well deserved, I would recommend The Grange based on the customer experience alone. Thank you for reminding me how it should be done.
Review 46:Noise from other guest's, unavoidable really considering the construction of wood suspended floors and the buildings age (over 100yrs old) curtains, mattress, guttering outside window overflowing, view.
Review 47:Welcome, breakfast (food, cutlery etc) character, free parking, room size. Would return.
Review 48:Nothing to dislike
Review 49:The owners were very friendly and went out of their way to make me feel welcome, The breakfast was exceptional as was the evening meal. The portions on the plate were more than enough to satisfy anyone's appetite. I will DEFINITELY be staying there again when I return on business to Kings Lynn.
Review 50:Looks run down,is run down.Room poorly furnished, underside of basin dirty.bathroom curtains grey with dirt/dust.Skirting board under radiator filthy.Hairs in bath! Uncomfortable stay.Wont be returning
Review 51:Jane attentive...always there.
Review 52:The bed in room 2 needs a new mattress. I could feel the springs and this led to an uncomfortable nights sleep.
Review 53:warm and friendly staff who were natural and attentive to needs of guests.
Review 54:matteres was ,for us , a bit on the hard side.
Review 55:The couple who own the GRANGE were very nice and could`nt do enough for us. rooms are very large .the one we had (no 2) overlooked the rest of KINGSLYNN and was brilliant. prices in the bar were very cheap compered to pub prices.Breakfast, well, was to say the least massive. throughly enjoyed it .Getting there was also very easy
Review 56:Trying hard to think of something...the taxi fare was extortionate from the station not the hotel's fault though. Should have planned ahead and caught the bus..
Review 57:The room was perfect. Good for walkers as the Clipper bus can be caught close by. Breakfast was brilliant and loved being offered vegetarian as well as a meaty breakfast. Poached egg excellent. Very friendly and helpful.
Review 58:not a great view from bedroom as surrounded by a 1970 estate of bungalows. Would prefer a greater choice at breakfast ie fruit/fish otherwise ok.

Review 60:Bed a bit bouncy but otherwise everything fine.

Review 66:Problems with staffing resulting in Jane having to having more than her fair share of the work!
Review 67:Friendliness and helpfulness of Jane & Taz especially under difficult circumstances.
Review 68:One could say the building is a little tired, but the service, facilities and price more than make up for it.
